The volume doesn't seem to be locked on the lockscreen, (screen on) maybe it's just getting pressed accidentally when in a pocket or bag etc?

Maybe you have activated do not disturb in sound settings?

Please explain further.
Do you mean the media volume, system volume or call volume?
You pick up the call and it gets turned down?
What should happend if the call ends?
HTC phones use the g-sensor to know when phone is being picked up and lowers the ringtone volume.
Also most use the proximity sensor to be silent when laid face down or ring quietly when in a pocket (or maybe vibrate in pocket)
Nice features I miss
Check the market for flip4silence.
Think it should do what you want!

thx this will do the job
Hi,
i own a HTC Desire and i am currently using the latest Redux Rom.
I am happy with the stock Camera App (the one from aosp, i think).
Except one thing: i hate that sound, thats playing when you take a picture.
I hate having to turn my media volume down and there is no option to disable that sound.
I would like to delete that soundfile. (or replace it with a silent one).
Where can i find that file? Is it inside the apk? can i delete it from the apk?
Thanks
Using silent mode is not an option?
you mean the phone wide silent mode?
No thats not a option, thats pain.
I want to start the camera app and make a photo.
Not check if my phone is silent, turn it silent if its not, start the camera app, take a photo and end up in silent mode.
I never want that sound, so why disable it using silent mode?
Got it!
Just delete /system/media/audio/ui/camera_click.ogg

Thanks! Also trying to get rid of the sound when it focuses, none of em in that folder is the one I'm trying to remove though. Any idea where I can find the auto focus sound?
Hello dear members,
This is my first post on this forum and here is the story. The audio output of xperia l through headphones is a bit low for my liking, yesterday I was talking to one of my friends on phone and accidentally I started the music and surprisingly the nusic output was better and louder than normal, obviously I thought that it may be a mistake but no..i tried again and again also to be precise I turned off the mic on other side but the story remains the same, music is more louder during calls than normal. Please tell me if this is normal or not and if possible than how can I permanently get the music output that I am getting during the calls.
Thank You
pardon English
I think sony limits normal volume to protect ears

Yes, but far as I remember it only pops up once.
Is dere any way to remove that limiter?
I have done java phones modding, music output was enhanced by changing acoustic files.
And yes the pop up appeared only once.
Walkman volume
Found any solution for this Volume Limiter? If yes, please write tutorial or link one for Xperia L.Thanks.
open settings - apps - all - smart connect - disable and reboot
I've read it and not sure about it but deserve to give it a try
My Nexus 5 keeps muting the Ringtone & notifications volume and I the only way I can get it out is to turn it off and on again.
When its muted itself the volume rocker display shows the telephone with a line across it (muted).
The rocker allow me to increase the volume level to maximum but the speaker stays in muted mode. If I turn the telephone off and on again, the problem is solved (for some time).
Anybody have any idea what is going on?
Thanks.

I solved by myself. Not a Nexus 5 problem, but a Real Racing 3 bug.

Same thing is happening to me, but I don't have that app installed. How did you figure out which app was causing this issue?

I think you should find what program block you audio.
I find that googling, but I think you can try to launch and apps and find which one is responsible of the issue.

Had the same issue with my nexus 5. Here is what fixed it. go to settings-> apps -> running. look at the running applications , and kill one app at a time, and then immediately press the up/down volume button to see if you hear the beep. if you dont hear the beep kill the next process and repeat the process until you hear a beep. the last app that you killed just before you hear the beep, is the culprit. in my case, its textplus app, i had no volume mute issues after I uninstalled it.
Does anyone else find that the alarm volume on Z3 is very soft? When I was choosing the alarm tone the preview was extremely loud. However, when the actual alarm goes off, the volume is only about half of the preview volume and all the volume sliders are already at max. Is this an issue with the Z3?

No problem with the sound on my Z3. But I'm using my own samples. Take an mp3, normalise it (using a sample editor - I used Audacity) and try that.

Still not normal that on a 600€ phone you need to do such things
I tried some notifications from Zedge but they are too loud now as you cannot change just notification volume without lowering ringtone..
