Contacts not syncing after flashing !! - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I have a question after I flash a ROM my contacts are taking along time to show up on my accounts or they don't show up at all? Not to much of a big deal more annoying then anything but any help would be appreciated!!

Are you flashing gapps too? If not, are the required google sync services included with the rom?

TF3D2/Rhodium/Manila - Crashes when i Sync Contacts

Hi all,
I've tried searching the forums and posted to seek help, but still have not gotten a reply.
I used various ROMS on my Touch Pro aka Raphael, and love using TF3D2/Rhodium/Manila, however everytime i sync my contacts it would cause it to crash.
The phone works fine if i disable TF3D2 and on the original ROM.
I have tried EVERY fix there is on the forums but nothing works. My phone wont crash if i DONT sync my contacts, thats about 270+ contacts.
HELP ANYONE PLEASE!!!
Same here... I guess it´s something related to the contacts format in the new tf3d2... something not comptaible with the old contacts... maybe pictures?
At first - save your Contacts and the other stuff with PimBackup.
Have you made a HardReset AFTER Flashing lke recommended?
Perhaps you should flash a stock ROM and then flash the ROM of your choice.
I am not aware of any issues like you describe when syncing your contacts from what i assume is outlook on your PC and i have ALOT of contacts.
Are you using XP or Vista?

[Q] Can someone create a flashable fix for facebook sync?

Yes I know CM7 and a few other custom roms have it, i'm not looking to flash a new ROM.
Right now my setup is a rooted deoxed "stock" ROM, with a custom kernel.. i'm just looking for a sync fix that can be flashed through recovery or pushed through adb without flashing a whole new ROM
I know a lot of people will respond by saying use the app called ContApps, but I haven't gotten it to work properly for me. So if someone does reply saying ContApps, please tell me why it isn't working.
It could help if you specify two things:
1) What do you mean by "Facebook sync?" Are you just trying to sync contact photos? Do you need to have all available info from all of your Facebook friends show up as contacts on your phone?
2) In what way does Contapps not work for you? Does it fail to install? Crash when run? Does it just not accomplish whatever it is that you want to do when you "sync Facebook?"
I use SyncMyPix, which works great for synching pics. I've tried Contapps and can't see that it really does anything at all with respect to Facebook syncing to my contacts.

[Q] Calendar not syncing 100% with Google Calendar

Hi:
I have a strange problem with syncing my Infuse 4G stock calendar with Google Calendar. Most of my entries in Google show up in my phone calendar app, but some specific ones don't. There seems to be no pattern as to what does and does not show up locally, but whatever does not, never does.
I've tried editing the entries on Google to see if an update would force the entry to be resynced, but no luck. I've even deleted the data for the Calendar Storage app. The same entries fail to show up again.
As things stand, I have no confidence in whether the calendar I am being shown on the device is correct or not.
Any suggestions for diagnosing / repairing this problem are greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

This might be better suited in the Q and A section, I don't know...this is themes and apps, but I suppose that is an app. I just am not sure if that's what they mean for this section. Sorry I got no ideas for you though. Good luck.
Don't be afraid

Is your phone still stock or have you modded it? I had issues when I was playing with what services I could freeze in Titanium Backup. I didn't like the calendar that came with the infuse. I downloaded touch calendar free version. don't have problems with my calendar or shared calendars.
Hi:
I'm still using the stock ROM - UCKH1. I'll give the Touch Calendar a try and see if that works.
Thanks for the tip.

Can You Save The Contacts You Joined So You Don't Have To Rejoin With New ROMs?

Hi All,
Whenever I install a new ROM, I always have to rejoin contacts (such as from Facebook & Google to their phone number).
Is there a way to have this saved maybe somewhere online or on the SIM card so I do not have to rejoin contacts every time I reflash a different ROM? I am what you would call a flashaholic so I reflash my phone fairly often and I'd like to be able to not have to rejoin contacts every time.
Also, is there a way for Google Play Store to automatically download APPs that was on my previous ROM in AOSP ROMs? I noticed this feature in TW-based ROMs but not in AOSP.
Thanks.

Did you ever figure out a good way to do this?

All of my contacts I save to my Google account, I disable SIM/Facebook. Every time I flash a ROM all of my contacts automatically sync. There should be an option while setting up your account on new ROMs to automatically sync your google information. Sometimes it will work for apps. To make it easier to switch between ROMs you can always use a nandroid backup to avoid reinstalling apps each time.
I do believe back in my TBolt days on AOSP I had this same problem. I found it simpler to go onto my PC, and install all my apps from PC to my phone. You can easily browse your apps this way, and send them to your device to install much faster.

[Q] Missing Contacts After Changing to CM

Did some searching about this beforehand but couldn't come up with a solid answer. Really hoping someone can help me out.
I very recently changed my friend's MT4GS from the latest stock ROM to CM 10.1. The ROM works fine for the most part. The issue is that she seems to be missing the vast majority of her contacts which is extremely upsetting to her as I'm sure you can understand. The few that were retained were the only ones she had synced to her Google account. The really odd thing is that she has had this phone replaced on four different occasions (same model) and her contacts would always sync effortlessly going from one to the next (all of them being on the stock ROM until now).
I've tried enabling sync in the People app through Gmail, Facebook, and even adding her Hotmail account to the AOSP email app and syncing that as well. The latter did add plenty of contacts but not the ones she was used to seeing, just email contacts exclusive to that account, no phone numbers as such.
So basically there are a few questions that arise from all of this:
1: Is there a simple way to get the contacts back while still on AOSP?
2: If we were to revert back to the stock ROM would the contacts come back as they have in the past?
3: Why would the contacts sync on the stock ROM but not AOSP?
Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.
She was probably syncing contacts with T-Mobile and not Google, go back to at least a stock based ROM, sync contacts, then transfer them to gmail, then you can flash any ROM you want as they will be tied to gmail

Thanks for the info and the tip. I'll give a shot and report back.
Its the most annoying thing for me with AOSP ROMs
The contacts she has "lost" are on her SIM card only right? Yet for some reason all AOSP and CM and AOKP
ROMs can't read those contacts...just the ones on the Google account
So best way is, return to stock as said above...i am sure all contacts are now available again, then sync them all to Google by just copying to Google account and flash back to your AOSP ROM and you are done
Was shocked the first time I rooted my desire z and missing some contacts too...but with time I got it why they where missing xD (still don't know why AOSP can't read SIM card contacts though)

If you login to my-tmobile (assuming she was backing up to t-mo) go to mobile life-> contacts, then you can do an export of all the contacts that are there to something like VCF and then import to the phone. If they're out there, they're certainly not lost!
Success! Thanks everyone for the information and advice. You were all very helpful.
What I ended up doing was reverting back to a stock ROM, had T-Mobile automatically restore the contacts and exported them. Then simply imported them once back on AOSP. No biggy. :]
Thanks again! You can consider this thread solved!
