Anyone managed to use the second SIM slot? - Ascend Mate 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone managed to use the second SIM slot?

I use the second sim all the time. I travel quite a bit so I buy pay as you go sims and put them in the second slot. Then I switch 4G/data to the second slot, leaving my calls from my primary.

[Q] SIM Card Dual Swap

I have searched the forums and found one thing close but not actually this so I'll ask.
Lets say I have two phones. One uses a micro sim and the other a mini sim. Can I insert both with the same number and use them one by one (use one then turn wireless communications off, and turn the other one on)?
I read that if the network sees two IMEIs on the same number it will disable the actual card.
I also read that if you request a new SIM the old one becomes useless when the new one is actually registered but, there is a way to have "SIM swapping" with two cards. So back to my question with the inserting both, can I request a new card (I have a micro sim now and need a mini sim) and safely use it for "SIM swapping" (having both sims in a phone at the same time.) without disabling the old card.
Sorry if that didn't make sense.
Thanks for any help

[Q] Weirdness in SIM2

Hey guys,
I have a new HTC E8, rooted like any respectable XDA member. I'm from India and travelling to Singapore, and there's some weirdness with my Airtel nano SIM and the SIM 2 slot. I have a local SIM with 3G in Slot 1.
For the first two days, Slot 2 would occasionally disappear, with the phone claiming there was no SIM in it. Opening and closing the tray would restore the connection. On day three, this stopped working. No amount of reinserting would get the phone to recognise the SIM.
So I swapped the SIMs and both work. Swapped them back and the Airtel doesn't work in Slot 2. The local M1 SIM has no problem in either slot, but I obviously get only 2G in Slot 2, and the whole point of a local SIM and a dual SIM phone is to get cheap data when on roaming.
Help me figure this out? Either the Airtel SIM doesn't like Slot 2 anymore (it used to work), and refuses to work on it, or the phone doesn't like the SIM, or there's simply a loose contact (but that doesn't explain why the other SIM works).

SIM card is missing (periodically)

Hello guys. I remake phone to work with 3G (solder sim slot in service just like in guide wrote) But now my phone sometimes (2-3 times in day) is missing SIM card. After reboot the SIM is working fine, but in few hours SIM is missing again and reboot needed. I know that the same problem was with another phone another man (i found out it on russian forums about Photon). Any suggestions? Can somebody help me?
I had the same problem. for me it was just the case. there was not enough space for the sim so it get pressed all the time down on the side
and the other side was coming up. that was making problem with the contacts of the sim reader.
Yea, I would think a loose wire/solder or some clearance issue with the SIM slot...

Sim card

So, I have a OnePlus 6 and when I got it first, I use my Meteor card so I had to cut it to make it smaller and now I bought a micro SIM card from Meteor 'Eir' but my phone can't read it or something since I can't call people and it says I can only make emergency calls.
Please help.
May be silly question but do you need to activate the sim first, have you tried it in another slot?
You need a nano SIM for the OP6. If you got a micro SIM and cut it down but it won't read it, you probably cut it incorrectly.
Does the phone detect the SIM at all?
But yes, as Geoff pointed out, if you did cut the SIM chances are you damaged it. Better get a nano card instead.

Does Tracfone's A51 SIM Reader Actually Support Dual SIM?

Has anyone tried getting dual SIM on Tracfone's A51 (SM-S515DL)? It's advertised as single SIM but comes with this elongated SIM tray, so the reader is at least long enough for dual SIM.
Wonder if the reader actually supports dual SIM and the phone is only software limited to single SIM, phone only displays 1 IMEI.
This phone has only a SIM slot on one side, and microSD card slot on the other side.
