How Do I know if Fastcharge is working properly? [solved] - Mate 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have my mate 8 for almost an week. I read in an other post that a guy had to replace his mate 8 because of the faulty fast charging. My phone charges from zero to 100 in est. 3h. I think it ist is okay, but I don't see any special icon or an notification telling me it is fast charging. I tried to plugin an old charger of mine the est. loading time is the same, which indicates that fast charging istn't working properly!?
So can anybody tell me if there is an notification or any other kind of indication wether the phone ist fast charging. A screenshot would be very nice [emoji5]?
Thank you for your help!

well full charge should take a bit less than 2.5 hours. theres no notification that im aware of. what u can do is get a wattmeter (just a few bucks in any store near you or online, amazon for example) and check what kinda wattage ure drawing. standard is around 5W, fast charging is anything above that. for the huawei mate 8 it should ideally be 18W.

I will give it a try thank you. I am just wondering why there are no indicator like on other phone...

Nice, didn't even think there could be an app for that. I'll give feedback when i tried the app and diffetent charger back home.

Okay it seems Fastcharge is working properly. JFYI I have attached screenshots tested with the app and the huawei charger vs. the other one (sony)

nice, now that looks pretty definitive

I think I read somewhere that the fastcharge is supposed to work at 9 volts, with a chargetime of 30 min...:fingers-crossed:
Edit: I assumed the charging voltage was 5 volts as I saw in the screenshot above, but after reading some reviews online it seems as the charging time indeed is 2.5 hours.
Source: anandtech.com/show/9878/the-huawei-mate-8-review/7

yupyup, takes about 2.5 hours for a full recharge at 2 amps and 9 volts for a total of 18 Watts
those 2.5 hours make sense if u divide the 4000 mAh battery capacity by the 2000 mA (= 2 A), it will leave you with 2 hours. now add some extra time to that, since the amperage drops off once the battery capacity reaches a certain level, say 80-90%, after which it just continues more and more slowly up to 100%. this is to preserve the lifetime of the battery and make it last for more charging cycles

I can confirm the 2.5 hours ?

Train your battery

Now your wondering how the hell i get battery life like that. Let right this up for you all.
Knowing I really don't know where your battery status at.. Lets start there.. Yes I have done my home work. And you don't have to over drive your phone 24/7. 1.67 on the high will get you the same speed as running at 1.98. and underclocking at 192 is your battery saver..
using this kernel I would only use system turner pro..
After flashing this kernel
-let the phone boot up
-download system turner pro from the market
-set the high side at 1.67
-low side 192
-then make sure you ondemand is selected
-reboot
NOW HERE COMES THE FUN PART (TRAIN YOUR BATTERY)
-drain the phone all the way down to 5%
-plug it in let it charge to you get a green lite on the front face plate
-at that time unplug the phone and then plug it back in. Your going to do this step 2 times
- once you did that 2 more times .. unplug
-restart your phone.
-now let the training begin. Use it at normal as you would anytime.
-let it drain down to 10% plug it back into charger. and let it charge up to 75%
REPEATING this step 50% then 25% then 15%
THen let it charge back up to 100% from there forward you should get 24+ hrs with your battery
Hope this helps you out,
hit the thanks button if it works

Here is another pic. But I put it on the charger for about 15 min. Before taking this picture.
I highly recommend turning your WiFi off when ur not using it. If your tired of that pop up. Dial *#6335623# that will disable WiFi pop ups.
Don't use your gps. Disable that as well.
that's some pretty sick battery life. What was your screen time on when you took this screenshot?

He is asking how many hours. If you click on "Screen", it will show you the hrs. This is important not how many hours out of standby! a normal G3 should get about 4.5 to 5 hrs of screen on.

yes, thank you for clarifying. On stock TW (ICS), I've gotten (?) close to 5 hours a few times.

[Q]My DesireS charges extremely slow

Some day over a year ago, realized my new Desire S just charges extremely slow.
It usually takes a whole night(10+hours) to charge from 10% to 100%.
In the past year I tried replacing a new battery, different wall chargers, wires, roms, kernels, even HBOOTs, the problem stays the same.:crying:
Now I have to use an extra battery and a desktop charger to keep it alive.
Everything is running great except charging. Even battery duration is fine.
What should I do? I really want it repaired.
Or is there any rom or kernel that forces charging current?
The snapshot is my DesireS charging with my new 1200mA Nexus4 wall charger and wire, offscreen.
When screen is on, charging current is lower than 100mA.
Current:180mA, estimated 2h27m from 76% to full.:crying:

ps. My DesireS emmc bricked weeks after I purchased it, and I had the M4G2DE emmc replaced to SEMO4G.
Hello!
I have the same problem with charging. Using special soft I mentioned that my Desire charges with max 130mA.
I've tried it with tree accumulators and a lot of charge-cables but no effect. Please help.
Thanks
i have some problems about battery too. what can i do?

I had that when I bought a second-hand desire S, i tried multiple ROMs/kernels but no avail, later on i found out it was the battery that's dead, slow to charge, fast to drain, if you can't get through 1 day at least with it, change the battery, it's cheap and it'll solve it, you could try another battery to verify that it's the battery and not the charging circuit, but from what I had to do, change the battery, and get the OEM one not a 3rd party battery, good luck!

Do you have any suggestions? Maybe somebody goes to service center?
You are using 1200mA? In snapshot titled 1600, which is it true?
In the middle of charging, hv you ever rebooted the phone?

did you bump charge? I go down to 99 within a minute and 97 after usually 30 minutes with light usage after charging overnight. Of course the chargers don't keep the battery at 100% because that would damage the battery

I don't overnight charge...Once my phone hits 100 I unplug it and I'm down to 99 very soon after and down to 90 pretty soon as well
Right now I'm at 88% after ~4.5hrs unplugged, including about 30 minutes of streaming Top Gear over wifi.
I'm pleasantly surprised.
I'm having mixed results with battery life. Really good standby time at home, but not so great at work. I work in a low signal building. 1 bar LTE and 2 Bar 3G, but the 3G's data doesn't seem to work on any of my phones. I lose about 40% in the 6 hours that I am there. I guess the aluminum isn't so great in low signal situations?

Is the cable loose in the socket of your phone?
try a different cable
although i never had any trouble with the official opo cable i did find out that certain cables don't let the phone charge very fast, even if you use the right charger
you can also always start an RMA request to get a new cable and/or charger if you are shure the problem sits there
I'm having a similar issue i get the feeling that it is potentially an app issue, however I haven't seen any thing in my battery stat reports so far. I plan to monitor it a little more closely this week to see if i catch any thing suspicious.
Turn your phone off and charge it that way, its deffo gonna be quicker but see if its much quicker. if so you have a dodgy app mate

I agree with this approach. In my case it seems to be app related, and from what i observed The prime contributor to the change in charge discharge rate is Spotify for my setup.

Screen on time

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Samsung Galaxy Note FE before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Ok

I will say I have roughly the same battery usage stats. I’m getting roughly 1-1.2% per hour on idle and 15% per hour screen on.
I usually have a mix of WiFi on and off, location set to device only, sync on, no BT, no AOD and usually 4G with 3-4 bars reception.
What I find to be severely draining is travelling fast, like driving. It’ll easily drain 5 per cent per hour.

I find that turning Google Location History OFF in the settings improves battery life.
Looks like this thread as gone quiet, the battery life on the Note FE has dropped quite sharply since moving on to Oreo. Mainly cause by the cell-standby time.
However, from the looks of it (without root). The options are quite limited, especially if you have recently updated to the latest. It moves Binary 3, and Knox will not allow to downgrade to a previous version. Flashing a Binary 1 (Nougat) radio will end up your phone showing "baseband unknown".
Mostly on Wifi. Moderate use (and lots of YouTube).
5h+ a day
I'm often turning on meduim power saving mode and it's not limiting my device's performance or any thing.
It may last about 4 to 5 with power saving mode turned off. Of course all of this is on FHD resolution i haven't tested WQHD resolution yet.
