Hi!
After I've updated my phone to 18.5.C.0.25 the battery life went very bad. 2 minutes writing SMS - 1% of battery gone. During night 15-20%, when the phone is doing nothing! Clean install through PC Companion, reseting to the factory settings, charging to 90, 80, 70% and then up to 100% didn't work. How to fix it? Anyone else has this problem? Stamina is on, the signal is good. What can be the problem?
Which variant are you using?
Following methods worked for me to reduce battery usage:
# clean install by flasing stock ftf using flashtool (downloaded by xperifirm)
# changing network mode from auto to gsm only (only when you don't need to use 3g/4g data)
# rooting phone, removing unnecessary apps(also some system apps and bloatwares) and managing autostart apps by allowing least number of apps to be started when system boots up
# stamina mode on > extended standby and extended usage is on (located inside the stamina option)
# turn off location service if not necessary, turn off wifi during sleep(keep wifi on only when charging), disable scanning always available for wifi, wifi optimization on
# turn off auto sync if not necessary
# remove widgets which drains battery faster by refreshing repeatedly (for example i've removed weather widget from screens)
# use auto brightness on and chose battery saving mode if applicable (lol no need to mention i guess! )
(btw, i'm using my phone with auto-rotate and wifi on all the time, now my phone provides me 2days of backup with around +/-6hrs screen on time on an average)
D2203. I have preffered 3G set, because my SIM doesn't support LTE
"# rooting phone, removing unnecessary apps(also some system apps and bloatwares) and managing autostart apps by allowing least number of apps to be started when system boots up"
I will try that
"# stamina mode on > extended standby and extended usage is on (located inside the stamina option)"
In use from the very beginning
"# turn off location service if not necessary, turn off wifi during sleep(keep wifi on only when charging), disable scanning always available for wifi, wifi optimization on
# turn off auto sync if not necessary
# remove widgets which drains battery faster by refreshing repeatedly (for example i've removed weather widget from screens)"
Done.
"# use auto brightness on and chose battery saving mode if applicable (lol no need to mention i guess! )"
I don't know why, but the brightness is very often set near maximum. Bug? The light sensor is ok (checked in CPU-Z)
The next question is, why the charging from 99 to 100% is taking so long? The next irritating fact is that the battery can stay on 99% for several hours and suddenly it's down to 92% in one minute. Is there any option to calibrate the battery gauge?

Well.. I haven't faced screen brightness issue like this yet, but an incompatible custom kernel can cause that, are you using any?
Charging from 99 to 100% can take upto 20mins i guess, because the last 10% is called trickle charging (or something like that) which means, the system will charge the battery in a periodic manner to ensure battery health.
Sudden drop of battery level can be caused by several different reasons, if the physical status of your battery is ok, try to find out the culprit which is draining your battery that way (you can figure it out by going power management > battery usage, here it'll show the battery consumption rate of various apps. right now i'm using CM11, last night i found that my battery was drained around 17% while staying in idle mode for around 6hrs! then i've found that the culprit was the nfc app which caused the huge battery drainage! Then i just removed nfc app (lol! ) because nfc was not working in CM11 either!)
Finally, many says that you can calibrate your your battery by discharging your battery to 1% and then re-charge it again to 100% in continuous manner and repeat this process couple of times to calibrate battery... some also say to hard turn off your phone after 100% charging by pressing volume up + power key for few seconds and then switch it on again, in that case if you find your phone battery is below 100% then charge it again to 100% continuously... But the thing I believe, if you find your phone in this situation that it shows drastically reduced battery level after phone restart, it's not any app, it's the damaged battery which is causing poor battery performance.
Thanks for reading, I hope you find this post helpful!

1. switch off MOBILE data transfer
2. system setting -> wifi -> advanced settings -> keep wi-fi during sleep = never
3. unsinstall tweeter, FBI (FaceBook Ing)
4. if you have e-mail program - tell it not to check for e-mails automatically but only manually
5. Instal WakeLock detector to see the program that prevent your device of sleeping.
After installing stock ICS I have encountered a battery drain from time to time. Sometimes my phone consumed battery really slow (better than on GB ROM) resulting in 50 h of battery life with 3G/WiFi always on. But there were days where battery was consumed very quickly (no more than 18 h on idle with 3G/WiFi on) and the phone was slightly warm. Reboot usually helped, but after day or two the problem was coming back.
I installed Wakelock Detector app and noticed that there is *backup* process that does not allow the phone to enter deep sleep. I entered Settings -> Backup and reset and unchecked "Backup my data". I have been testing it since yesterday but the problem seems to be gone already. Anyone who is experiencing battery drain on ICS should try this solution.
I've only had my nexus for a week now and I'm trying to hunt down the reason I'm getting poor battery life. At first it was nlp wakelocks but that went away on its own somehow. Now its my wifi draining battery, in 8 hours of idle overnight it went from 100% to 79% and wifi was the top usage. I've never seen this before on any phone with any rom so I'm not sure what to do about it.
Hi,
Try Settings/Wi-Fi/Menu/Advanced/ and untick Scanning always available...
This is what I did to improve my battery:
1. Location Services : If you are not in a neighborhood with a lot of wifi spots you will most likely feel this draining your battery life. Under settings make sure that Location Services is set to battery saving and not High accuracy.
2. Widgets : Weather widgets, games eat battery by constantly fetching information . Check the settings for these widgets and make sure they are using wifi and not updating the weather information every 30 mins or so. I keep my settings to update weather information every hour to keep it reasonable. The Gmail widget sometimes eats your battery too. I removed the widget and used an icon in the dock at the bottom to check my email. Another thing I noticed was that some widgets are just more battery intensive than others. For example I found HD widgets consumed nearly twice as much battery as Chronus on the home screen but both displayed the same information.
3. Restart your phone : Sometimes residual processes from closed apps could cause issues. Restart your phone if you haven't done it in a while and it should clear up any unnecessary things.
4. Keep wifi on during sleep : I made sure my phone uses wifi even when its sleeping. 3g / 4g eats the battery like crazy if you turn off wifi when your phone sleeps. This should be a default setting as pointed out by some users. In my case it had been changed probably when I was tinkering with the phone. You can find this setting in the Settings -> Wifi -> advanced -> Keep wifi on during sleep.
You can also use apps like Greenify , Tasker , and Llama.
5. Don't use Automatic Brightness : Turns out if the sensors are constantly looking to adjust brightness it takes up more battery. I set my brightness at around 60% and it works just fine throughout the day.
6. Use wifi over 3G/4G/LTE if possible
7. Switch off wifi when using Data: Android doesnt switch off your WiFi when you use data because Google wants you to use it for Locations and help build their database of networks.Switch off WiFi completely when using data to save a good chunk of battery.
8. Turn off Vibration on touch : Typing uses quite a bit of battery over the course of a day. Try switching Vibration on touch off.
9. Use Franco Kernel: : This will require rooting your device however it makes it a lot more power efficient.
10. Turn down the Facebook refresh rate : Make sure it updates not very often( every 3-4 hours) or never. IMO your phone is better off without Facebook or any other battery hog social networking apps.
Hello,
my battery only lasts half a day max, before needing a recharge. I've already tried different custom roms, and currently I'm on Blisspop for android 5.1. The area I live in has good coverage, so that shouldn't be the culprit. I never play games on my device, but even basic web browsing drains my battery very rapidly. I do use android wear, but I don't think that is the reason I only get around 1 hour of screen on time.
Here are the things I've tried already:
- Turning off location reporting
- Disabling Google Now
- Removing Google Fit
- 'recalibrating' the battery by letting it discharge and then charge it fully without unplugging
- Using 3g instead of 4g
- Turning off location access
This is driving me nuts, and I don't know if it's my battery's fault or my phone's fault.
Thanks in advance.
Go to wifi, special, and disable scanning when the wifi is off. It helps A LOT. Also keep location reporting off, as setting it to network only creates tons of wakelocks even when mobile data and wifi are turned off.
I know some custom ROMS have had issues with Bluetooth battery drain in the past. Try turning it off and see what happens.
Turn down the brightness as well. There is significant difference in power usage between %50 and %100 brightness .
Hold power button and select power off. Helps
I've had this phone for a few days now and I notice some mean battery drain that happens from time to time. I dumped a Bug Report via developer options, and used Google's Battery Historian after leaving my phone unplugged and idle overnight after a full charge and reboot. The tool seems to show that the following kernel wakeup reason seems to be the problem and holding the phone awake for over 1.5 hours:
Code:
Ranking Name Duration/Hr Count/Hr Total Duration Total Count
0 Abort:Wakeup IRQ -1111803216 (null) pending 10m8s737ms 779.87 1h34m13.62s 7243
The only thing that looks remotely relevant is that on the tool WiFi signal strength became weaker when the above wakeup events started.
Has anyone else had similar issues with random battery drains like this and/or happen to know any workarounds?
Mine seems like it is always awake. Android OS has been keeping it awake for 8-9 while I'm at work.
I tried setting wifi to stay on when sleeping when plugged in, after a full idle overnight, I used my phone in the morning and the same issue came up. The ID above was different, but generally the same problem (IRQ with no description pending). Again, it looks to be wifi related based on the battery stats in Historian. I've rebooted, charged up and turned off wifi to see if the problem goes away.

You might want to try enabling developer options and getting a bugreport generated (which has battery stats), and then visualizing it in Google's Battery Historian to see if it is the same problem. Kind of convoluted, I know, but without root, I don't know of any better way to analyze kernel wakelocks (it isn't a partial wakelock issue on my device).
Last night I left my phone idle with wifi off and WLAN Scanning and Bluetooth Scanning off under Location Settings. The battery ran down only 2% over 9 hours and the Wakeup IRQ pending problem did not keep the phone awake!
I am going to try turning wifi back on today but keep the scanning off and see if that keeps this problem at bay. If not, I may use Tasker to force wifi off when the screen is not on and not plugged in.
The wakelocks seem to happen randomly no matter what my wifi settings are. Though I do think it is related to location settings trying to use wifi scanning.
I give up, there is no reason why a phone I just bought should be like this.
Maybe there are some apk wake up the system
@kumodog Maybe there are some apk wake up the system, you can reboot the system and kill all of application programs when you test it in night with wifi on.
After test, you can also use : "adb dumpsys alarm" in command line to find Top Alarms. it will tell you which alarm make system wakeup.
Hello Sir! Can Anyone Give Me Any Solution To Increase Moto G 2015 Battery Life?
Sorry For Bad English
Bro Battery Life totally depends on user's usage ... But still u r looking for methods to improve ur battery life here is your answer suggested by Motorola:-
Tips to extend the battery life - Moto G 3rd Generation
The battery life for a device may vary day to day depending on usage. Navigating, playing games, browsing the Web, making calls, and sending text messages all drain the battery of the device.
Try some of the following tips to maximize the battery life:
Charge the device properly
Charge each night so you start the day fully charged and ready to go.
Ensure you are charging the device correctly.
Restart the phone at least once a week this will reset the Battery cycle.
Adjust connection settings:-
Turn off Wi-Fi. Bluetooth, and GPS when you are not using them.
Close apps that use GPS when you no longer need them. Swipe down from the Notification Bar to see if you have active navigation applications that offer an option to quit or exit.
Change Location Settings to use Battery Saving mode:
Settings>Touch Location > Battery saving.
Be aware of network availability
If you are in an area with low or no signal, the phone uses more power attempting connect to the weak signal. If possible, switch the phone into Airplane Mode to prevent excess battery drain.
Use Wi-Fi when possible. Data over Wi-Fi uses less battery life than data over cellular networks.
Adjust display settings:-
When setting the phone down after use, quickly press the Power key to turn the display off.
Lower the screen brightness when possible:
Change the screen timeout to less than 1 minute.
Settings>Touch Display>Touch Sleep.
Manage applications
Close applications you are no longer using. Select Recent (the square icon) in the lower right, then touch the X in the upper right hand corner.
Be aware of how much battery is consumed by running certain applications. Apps that use a lot of wireless data, such as streaming video or music, navigation, and maps, will drain the battery more quickly because of the data being transferred.
Find out what application or feature uses the most battery life: Swipe down from the top of the screen, touch the Quick Settings Image icon, touch the Battery icon.
Apps that update frequently, like social media or email, also consume battery power more frequently. Some live wallpapers and widgets may also consume battery life. Limit use of these apps when battery life is a concern......
