Hi guys,
I'm sure that there is post like this but i didnt find him.
I wanna buy a new galaxy s (my S1 died last week ) but i dont know which one - S4 or S5.
From what I learned this far there are no such a huge changings between both of them, so i wanted to ask you what you prefer and why.
Thanks for helping me
I would say hold on IDF you can there is talk of an upgraded version of the s5 called the s 5 prime. If you can wait then go for it.
If not and you have v the budget I think buy the latest one. You will get the updates and two the specs are really good.
If I could via would buy there s5 and totally change out. That is what I love about Samsung you can change battery or SD cards and of course the ROMS. Thanks to the guys here

Well, it might be a hard decision, as both phones are much alike. Anyway, I'd pick the s5 because it's the latest model, so more updates, it can support up to 128 gbs of memory stick (while the s4 can get up to 64), so you can save more stuff, it has the best g.p.u. and c.p.u. on the market at the moment and it's water and dust resistant (so if any accidents occur, the phone should be fine). If you are patient though, you can wait because I've heard about a galaxy s5 prime edition (already mentioned above). Now, if you're not, you might as well get the galaxy s5. If your wallet can't handle its price (e.g. it costs 759 euros in my country), you can get the s4. Besides, both phones are very much alike. I'm terribly sorry for the quote length.....hope I helped.

Who wants this amazing device?
Any news on availability?
Will this phone have a screen protector? how should it applied to a curved screen? and most importantly will it get an AOSP Rom? of course a proper which uses the curved screen?
I'm teetering back and forth on what to get. I'll need to see some reviews before I can make an informed decision. With that being said I'm leaning towards the Note 4 at the moment.
I want it badly !!
Worst information, that Edge will be available only in several markets. I've read on sammobile about Singapour, Korea, US, Spain and Australia.
It will be available in the US an all major carriers.
And I'm probably going to get it as long as developer support is there. Even if it's not as prevalent as established devices.
I'm a cutting edge kind of guy and this is definitely my style.
I've been waiting for this device every since the first picture was released but after finding out VR only works with the Note 4, Edge isn't for me anymore.

Me too. I am sure there will be some good pre-launch deals but I would like to get my hands on one first to see if it's suitable, if not definitely the Note 4... but when?!!
I'm still on my Note II and I don't see any good reason to go for the Note 4, but I'd definitely consider the edge simply for it's uniqueness.
But ONLY if it gets rooted and ROM'd.
Speaking of which, someone please tell me the makers of DN3 are working on porting the Note 4's Touchwiz back to Note II! :fingers-crossed:

I think I want the edge too. If nothing else if development is not there, in 6 months I'll just get something else or just live with stock . It just seems too "cutting edge" to pass up. Note 4 is great but a little something different in form would be nice for a change.
I am really leaning towards the Edge, it just looks so cool (yes I'm shallow) and 64gb memory doesn't hurt. I'm going to wait until I can play with both phones, though. I'm not in a big hurry, my Note 2 is still going strong. Rather take some time to make my choice.
I want one badly but I'm afraid Samsung won't release a Dev. Edition Edge for us Verizon guys.
I'm afraid I'm going to have to choose between a Dev. Edition Note 4 or a locked Note Edge :crying:
I want one to but it's being said around other sites that it going to cost us almost a $1000.00. What are your thoughts.
Potentially Unique and Useful Device
I too have a Note II and it is great device. I'll probably get an Edge on Sprint contract if the price is not ridiculous. If it is, I'll probably seriously consider the IPhone 6 Phablet. The Edge has the opportunity to be a truly unique device with the help of XDA Developers.
I definitely will buy one, it s soooo sexy!!

I'm definitely buying one BUT I won't get one of the first shipment of orders, I'll wait until the xda development is established because I already know that the AT&T version will have a locked bootloader.

I love the new technology. I to wonder how much support there will be for the device The fact that the powerful specs of the Note 4 are under the hood are even a more compelling reason to grab this device.
I think the Note Edge will be great, but theoretically it should slightly underperform compared with the Note 4 because a single processor will be powering 2 screens.
I will most likely buy this device... (I am a hardcore **** Galaxy Note Fan... but... but...
I will buy the Galaxy Note 4 first for sure (first day it hits the store, without doubt... same as I did with Note 2 & Note 3... got Note 1 after about 2 months it was released)... (T-Mo Version) because it will most likely have root, unlocked bootloader and all the things we all love... and... then when the Edge comes... I will wait a week or 2... as soon as I see that it can be rooted and some dev support... I will end up buying this one too... have them both coexist for a month more or less and see how things go with each device... (development support, roms, etc...) and after a month maybe 2... will finally decide who is the lucky winner... (the looser... I will sell on ebay)
that's my story...
after seeing a video review of the Note Edge, i'm not so sure about it anymore for one main reason - one handed use. because of the screen on the right side, apparently its very difficult to use with your right hand without accidentally activating and/or pressing something on that screen. I'm a heavy one-handed/right-handed user on all my phones and this is a big deal.
I guess I'll have to get used to using both hands (of course its required when it comes to using the stylus)
Hi Folks,
I currently have an S4, and my two-year contract is up. My S4 doesn't have Sprint Spark, and the data is not great in the building I work. I checked out the app OpenSignal, and it appears Sprint is still the best option with unlimited data in my current location (T-Mobile was the other option). My S4 is rooted with tethering, something I would like to keep in my next phone. I'd like to try out a Sprint Spark phone, and I'm thinking it may be better to get the S5 instead of the S6 for the following reasons.
- S5 has a larger, removable battery. Whenever I mess with rooting and custom roms, it seems that I almost always need to do a battery pull at some point. Without the ability to do that, the chances of messing something up seem greater.
- Expandable memory, something the S6 doesn't have anymore.
- Already lots of ROMs and tweaks available in this forum.
- Cheaper
The S6 does look fancier, and I would imagine I can get root and tethering on it just as easily as I could an S5 (unlimited tethering > Samsung Pay, at least for me). What are your thoughts? Are there any killer features on the S6 that would make it worth considering over the S5?

Good video comparision. One thing to keep in mind for this poll, it's posted in the S5 forum, so it's sure to be biased towards the S5. I bet if the same poll was posted in the S6 forum, it would be close to the opposite.
True

I don't have 1 though..... Totally true though I was thinking the same!!
I was playing with my buddies s6 edge and even though it was crisp and clean and smooth with complete stock unrooted I would still choose the s5 because of battery and sd card

I am on the hunt for a new phone and have narrowed my options down to the one plus one and samsung galaxy s5, but am torn between the two. I was hoping for some advice on which to chose.
Also, I was wandering if the mic issue with the one plus one has been solved?

Hello!
This is herna from XDA Assist Team.
This is not a easy question to reply, and I don't even think we should recommend you, but well, will try to help you with your question.
Both devices are great, but knowing all them specs and usability, I would go for One Plus One.
Why? Because it has a better design, better battery, really good display and camera, and well, the price.
But the most important part here is the software. Touchwiz is not bad, but the option to can use Cyanogenmod 11S/12S, OxygenOS and HydrogenOS, as official ROMs from One Plus, is something Samsung can't offer you, and they run amazingly good.
Also, you have the CyanogenMod nightlies, which will help you in case there is any bug on any of the before mentioned ROMs.
About the microphone, well idk since I am not an One Plus One owner, but I guess that not all the official ROMs will have this trouble, and even if it has, using the Nightlies should help you.
So, I would buy One Plus One.
Wish it helped,
herna
Perhaps this is a REALLY stupid question, but are S6 edge roms compatible with the S6 Edge plus? I just got the edge plus and was bummed to see no development really for it. I'm thinking about taking it back now.
Thanks
It isn't compatible.S6E+ have different hardware(display, something more maybe) and S6E roms exclude drivers for it.
Well it's really too soon for developement, the phone is very new. Give it some time
