Brightness is locked - Samsung Gear S2

For some reason my Gear S2 has the brightness locked at the lowest setting, I have tried powering down and even resetting the device. I can move the brightness slider however there is no change to the brightness of the screen. The only time my brightness changes is due to the outdoor mode in direct sunlight. Please help me this problem has not gone away since a few days after getting the device (Christmas), and it's really starting to bug me.

Never heard of this problem. Exchange it.

Did you try to hard reset of your device?

can't adjust brightness level?

I got my Moto G3 yesterday and I noticed the screen was very bright, I checked the brightness level and it was on the middle of the slider, with Adaptive Display on. I tried adjusting the slider but nthing happens, I tried turning Adaptive Display off, still nothing happens. Doesn't matter if I'm in a room with no light or if I'm outside on the sun, the screen is always on what I assume is 100% brightness.
I have also tried a factory reset, updated to Android 6, downloaded a 3rd party app to adjust brightness, getting it on safe mode... nothing works
It is really annoying having the display at full brightness always, battery drains, phone screen gets really hot, etc
Someone have a possible solution? I don't want to stay more days without a phone by taking it to warranty.
Even I noticed that the screen's brightness is same from 1% to 30% (approx).. It doesn't change at all.
What variant do you guys have?

After updating to Oreo, the automatic brightness of the screen does not work properly

I have XZ Premium dual sim CE1.
Screen brightness automatic.
Brightness changes under the ambient light, but the brightness bar does not move.
It stands 2/5 in length.
When I manually change the brightness of the bar, it will move where I touch my finger and stay there.
After a clever change of brightness, the machine stops working.
Automatic brightness does not work.
I have to enter settings, turn off auto brightness and turn it back on. Then it starts to work but the strap is in place at 2/5 length as in the beginning.
Prior to upgrading, the slider bar moved along with the automatic brightness change. After updating it is always in place.
I upgraded my phone and then repaired the software via Xperia Companion. It did not change anything. The issue still exists.
Several friends have the same problem.
Applies single and dual sim.
Please if you have similar help then fix it.
Reporting an error with the RGBC sensor has resulted.
Sony has promised to fix the bug.
Now I need to report an error with the backlight of the screen.
The thread to report a bug with brightness is here:

I have this problem too, mostly when it is dark the brightness keeps changing from dim to bright back and forth until I just disabled adaptive brightness. I'm pretty sure I had this problem before the update but it wasn't nearly as bad, mine is typically stuck on the lowest brightness.
Report a bug in Sony forum and help fix it.
Have Auto-Brightness problem in Nougat.
It turns dark and stays there, manual setting works without any problem

Screen Brightness changing

With auto brightness off, sometimes when i unlock my phone the brightness increases but the brightness bar is in the same level. Then i lock the phone and unlock it and the brightness returned to normal.
If i unlock again, the brightness have increased again... To return to normal, i have to lock the phone and unlock again.
I have done 2 hard reset but the problem persists.
Maybe hardware problem?
Again, auto brightness is off.
This may be a software issue, because the problem you have is with the brightness bar not displaying correct info immediately. The issue may be an update gone wrong or an app that may be hindering your brightness meter.
You can try going to safe mode first (i forgot exact steps, but you can google it).
If issue persists, you can try flashing the latest version again via odin(you can get update zip from sammobile).
That's my take on it and i can't guarantee it to work, but this may be the most likely cause. Hope it works for you.
High brightness lockscreen on samsung a8
Go to face recognition and turn off brighten screen. It will solve the prob. I have that too lol just figured it out for a while now.. hope this helps.

Automatic Display Brightness often too dark

I have this great phone since a week now but what is really annoying for me is the automatic display brightness mode. Since the sensor is in the middle of the buttom, it is often hidden by my hand and the display brightness is too low.
Is there any trick to improve this behaviour without disabling automatic mode completely? Something like a minimum brightness level (probably time based).
Or am I the only one with this problem?
Since the OTA last week, my auto brightness is determined to set itself to minimum almost every time I turn the phone on. Even in direct sunlight. Really annoying bug.

Same problem here in outdoors, is there any fix?

Reset adaptive brightness?!

hi,
Now after the pie update we got this super new feature...
But in my case most of the time my display brightness is to dark. I always have to adjust it manually.
Is there any way to reset adaptive brightness? There are some tutorials in the internet but on my HTC I don't have this reset feature.
Best regards

Uhm... That is adaptive brightness right there. You SHOULD adjust the brightness when you're in a specific place and your phone will eventually "learn" it a few times you're in that area.
Note that adaptive brightness is a combination of sensor, location and even network (whether you're connected to some WiFi).
Again, when it's dark, INCREASE your brightness. Do that a couple of times when you go back to the same place. THAT is how you calibrate adaptive brightness.
And still it don't work like I want it. In my home network it dimes always to dark. I have adjusted it hundred times. But still no changes...
