Hey there
I rooted my Z3 a few days ago and besides being very satisfied
with having the control for everything back in my hands
I have a problem:
I want to change the looks of the settings menu and the system UI itself
as I don't really like the one made by Sony (not flat enough for my likings).
I tried a few different themes (for root) from the Sony Cross Device Development Section
but they never changed anything of the UI, only a static wallpaper appeared a few times.
In the threads of the themes they state that you either need SuperUser Mod (which I got)
or some Xposed Module (didn't even find that).
So did anybody manage to theme the UI?
For device and firmware look at my signature

Superuser mod is not the superuser app.
You need the modified .jar.
The way to get it is to install xperia xposed via xposed framework and enable superuser mod in that module

Thank you! Didn't even thought about this.
Now I got it
I'm rooted, and with both the Pixel 2 March and April update images, I can't get substratum to work.
I have 7 different themes I've tried, and I've always in the past (Februrary update and before on the pixel 2) seen in substratum, the theme gets applied. I'd see a differently - colored settings menu, status bar, etc.
Since last month, some themes say theme compiled successfully, other have an error in substratum. But regardless, nothing is changing skin wise.
What needs to be done? I looked at Magisk, and there's just one outdated module that seems outdated for Oreo.
I have the aroma installer I'm using from @Tulsadiver for march/april to apply 3 minit battery mod. But, I don't think this matters.

Just to make sure it isn't my base messing this up, I also have a stand alone mod for 3 Minit battery if that is all you need.

Get back to stock and try one of these depending what Magisk you are running. I haven't tried this on pixel 2 but it worked on my pixel.
You need to reboot the device after applying... then go back in and select the applied theme and select enable again.

I did these steps:
1) Disable substratum overlays
2) Go into TWRP. In the Aroma installer for April mods, return to stock. Reboot
3) Noticed the 3 minit battery mod was successfully removed. Attempt to re-enable substratum theme. IT WORKED!
4) Go back into TWRP. Flash your 3 minit standalone mod.
5) Now I want to see if I can change substratum theme *after* applying your 3 minit battery mod. So I reboot, I see the battery mod worked, changed theme, and BOOM, all is good still
@Tulsadiver, mind uploading your 3 minit battery mods separately in the future whenever you update your aroma installer with the new builds?
Thanks again for help me with this! Glad it's all working now

I dont know i just installed over a rooted phone like always. Just not all themes are working for one plus 6, but it at least appear after reboot in overlay manager tab. On dp 3 nothing appears..
There is no speacial instructions for substratum, it installs from a playstore and if you're rooted it will work. Install a theme, configure an overlays, install it, reboot device, after reboot go to overlay manager tab select needed overlays, press Enable it.

OnePlus navbar is different to stock Android. Themes tend not to work on it.
I'm using Substratum on 5.1.9 pretty successfully but the process for applying themes is more convoluted with the latest security patches. Swift Dark has good instructions included (see pic), but I can't get its inbuilt accent colours to apply

if this is the thing that nav bar is different ill try to create a theme for myself
Nope, it says that since the march security patch you have to select overlays, build and enable, reboot, enable overlays again, then reboot again to apply properly

Substratum work on rooted p devices i check in multiple themes but in Android p i can't able to use it without root if i root my device banking apps wouldn't work for me.In Android oreo i used it without root thanks to rootless theming.
I am using Substratum with Swift Black Substratum Theme on Android Pie DP3. Also do not try using systemUI related overlay as it will cause SystemUI Crash. You need to be rooted and TWRP recovery installed.
1. Always Backup.
2. Compile the app overlays in Substratum.
3. Boot into TWRP
4. Mount System Partition.
5. Goto Advanced and File manager.
6. Copy/Move the compiled overlays from /sdcard/.substratum to /system/system/app
7. Reboot the phone. Enable the overlays in Substratum.
P.S: If you accidentally stuck on SystemUI crash, just boot into TWRP file manager and delete the overlay from /system/system/app.
I have read it in Substratum thread. And it works perfectly
Happy Theming

I used magisk module.
First set your font to roboto in settings/font
Second you go to magisk manager, downloads and search for fonts. Low, all of theese might not work properly I don't know.. I use exo 2 font without any issues.. I have also tried 2 others without issues.
Use magisk
Use a file explorer like Root Explorer and navigate to "/system/fonts". Paste the fonts you want to use in the folder. You should get a prompt asking you if you want to overwrite the existing font. Accept and then reboot.
Just use ifont if you have root.
Thanks guys!
I tried ifont and it did not work with rooted 1+6 and H2os and Pie with Magisk
Use TypeFace
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pixkart.typeface
Then you get previews of the fonts and have whole bunch to choose from.

Would recommend to go ahead and use Magisk. It worked well with my OP5 and now OP6. Have tried using Hifont earlier. Though I uninstalled the app could not restore it back to the normal font until factory reset ( very painstaking).
uses APK fontster ( required root), works very well with many sources.
https://fontster.uptodown.com/android
I am rooted with the pixel 2 font mod installed through magisk, in the phone settings switch to Roboto font, install Ifont and choose a font. Reboot and install chosen font again, reboot
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kapp.ifont
Enjoy
My whole theme was developed around a blue colour accent. My system accent and YoWhatsapp theme either, is there any way to have a blue accent on Google board?
If you had root and magisk you can install module Gboard Theme.

Unfortunately I don't have root and I can't install magisk yet. I'll buy a new computer maybe next month.

In GBOARD settings, you have a few themes, including a dark + blue one.
