Hy Guys,
does anyone have the Vowney Lite and can give some experiences (Battery, Performance, Display,..)?
Thanks in advance
Received the Vowney Lite in grey yesterday and the first impressions are great. - Bought it as replacement for my Xiaomi Mi3.
A first short and quick overview - played around a bit
- Fantastic build quality i did'nt expect. Love the rough back cover. Feels great in hand.
- GPS, wifi, bluetooth locking quick.
- Stable and fast connection
- Antutu 46420
- Smooth lagless stock-like ROM
- Oddworld Stranger's Wrath work smooth with no lag
- Great camera
- Good battery - approximately 5 hrs onscreen with clash of clans, sygic navigation, playstore, whatsapp, ect and 27% left
- Dont miss the 2k display, 4gb RAM and 32gb storage - 3gb RAM and 16gb storage with 64gb sd card are fine too. And the display is great.
- Data speed rate laptop to phone internal storage/sd card is great - 4-8 times faster than with my Mi3
..............more in a few days
Miss only root and twrp recovery but this is a only question of a few days/weeks
I got it last week, same as doa4ever, great quality, everything working etc, but I noticed a few downsides:
-overheating quite often
- the case makes the screen turn on a lot in my pocket, the magnet isn't strong enough
- poor sound quality
That's all for now, all the rest is amazing, i'm impressed!

You got lucky then !
I really do get some overheating.
And by the way, the battery runtime is good, came back from work at 8 pm with 20%, but the charging it quite slow.

I use the battery save mode in settings and display brightness at 45-50%.
Charging could be faster with the original charger. With my multi USB charger the charging time is approximately 10% faster.
I'm waiting for the device to arrive next week. Good to see there are other users.
Hello guys,
First of all I want to thank you all for the feedback from the OP.
I want to buy an Elephone Vowney but I really dont know from which site, and which you can trust. Where did you guys ordered your Vowney from?
Also I've read some user opinions that the Vowney Lite has better performance than the original Vowney?
Can one of you confirm this?
I'm all new to the Chinese phone scene and couldn't find much info on the Elephone Vowneys

I ordered my Vowney Lite at tiny deals. After 4 days DHL knocked on my door with the phone in hand.
Fantastic performance. Hongkong - Vienna in 4 days.
A higher display resolution need more CPU, RAM and battery. A friend own the phone with 4gb RAM and 2k display.
Could not really notice a difference except
- the slightly higher battery usage of the 4gb model
- 4gb model is a bit hotter after hardcore gaming
- the lite seems to be a bit more fluently scrolling through apps
- a 2k display is awesome but i cant see a real diffence
Bit odd but what i noticed is that the battery lasts longer after a charging cycles und the charging time is shorter.

Thank you very much for your detailed reply!
I think I will still go with the 4GB model, but unfortunately that version is not available at tiny deals
Do you maybe have an other suggestion where to buy the 4GB model?
I've used tinydeal a lot, but recently I've also had good luck with gearbest.com. They list both models of the Vowney, but state they won't be shipping until March.
I might try to be patient and wait for the P9000. It's pretty.
I guess I should add that shipping times from both tinydeal and gearbest have been all over the map the past few months. My nephew ordered a phone from tinydeal's EU warehouse and it took 2 months to get from Germany to France. My wife ordered a watch from gearbest UK that never arrived. To their credit, they didn't give her any crap about sending out a replacement.. But it took a month or so to get here (Central France).
By way of contrast, I ordered a phone from tinydeal EU in September and it took 3 days to arrive.

Thanks a lot for your information!
I've read quite a lot of some bad feedback about gearbest now, especially in comparison to tiny deal. Really don't know if I should order the 4GB model at gearbest.. I've found out that you can also order it on ali but I know that's kinda tricky to, to bad tiny deals don't offer the 4gb model

This is my "quick and dirty" unedited video review of my UMI eMax with a custom MANOWARACERA rom from Spain. It has Installer Xposed and Gravity Box, many small but good improvements like battery life and speed, and it's very clean, not much if any bloat, nice. This also touches on how well UMI works with us modders with their excellent RootJoy flashing/backing up software. Nice to see the better China phones getting this level of attention.
For reference, here are the specs on the eMax:
5.5 inch IPS OGS capacitive screen, FHD 1920x1080 pixels, bright and high quality.
MTK6752 Octa Core Processor, 1.7GHz GPU:Mali-T760 MP4.
Android 4.4 OS (possible Lollipop 5.0 Update at the end of July 2015 according to UMI).
2GB RAM + 16GB ROM(one partition, not split up like many China phones, yay UMI!).
3500 mah Battery(real rating, UMI states 3750 mah).
Dual SIM card dual standby plus separate micro sim slot.
5mp front camera plus a 13mp (interpolated, it's really 8mp) back camera.
Support FDD LTE,4G,3G,GPS,wifi,bluetooth,Miracast included.
Networking: 2G(Note: the 1900MHz band works on T-Mobile as HSPA+ in most areas in the US) GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz, 3G WCDMA 900/1900/2100MHz, 4G: FDD LTE:1800/2600MHz(overseas only, not for US).
This is a very nice phone with great battery life even for a power user, a top notch FHD screen(blows the crappy, dim screen on my Zenfone 2 away easily..), stable software(4.4.4 KitKat for now), and a solid unibody build. The only real flaw with it is a not so great rear camera, but it's at least being steadily improved with software updates. There are also some nice accessories available for it for a very little cash, like a good quality gummy case, two different colored hard stick on case/stands, and tempered glass screen protectors. This is getting more common on the better selling China phones and it's a welcome addition for sure. This phone can be bought on many, many China dealer sites like Gearbest, ibaby888(DHGate), Pandawill, efox and more for around $150-160.00 US, a steal IMHO
Here's the link to the custom rom, first reported on here by @Tautologica on another thread(thanks again!). It works great!

And here is the link to my video review, hope you like it

P.S. If anyone can explain how to embed the video here, I'm all ears, thanks!
Nice review mate.
The screen brightness could be better. I am not saying it is bad but now that is summer and all, I would like to add a notch more brightness when using the phone outdoors.
And the camera is kinda bad if you try to take landscape pics. Closeups and videos are fine imo. And I use quite a lot the 120FPS video recording. Nice feature imo.
I am really happy with the phone. It is the cheapest MTK 6752 phone out there afaik and definitely worth the price.
Cos it is the cheapest there are downsides ofc. Umi had to save in something to bring the price down.
And props to manowarcero for the excellent custom rom. I am really happy with and i've xposed the hell out of emax now and it works great!

I couldn't agree more, for the price this is a steal, near flagship power for us budget minded folks
As for the brightness, I compared it to my Zenfone 2, which has a pretty dim screen even after I bumped it from it's preset 80% max default, so the eMax looks to me to have plenty of brightness compared to it. No problems outdoors for me at all. And I also love Xposed, makes this rom so much fun to play with for sure As for the camera....well I think some folks got a better lens than others, as it's simply not very consistent between reviewers I've noticed. Mine is definitely not good, even the slightest zoom in causes tons of noise, and all the different camera apps I've tried so far don't seem to be helping. But I have noticed a bit of an improvement with this rom, so not all hope is lost here. Here's hoping Lollipop can help even more. Been in contact with MANOWAR over on the DualSim forums and it looks like he may continue support for the next rom from UMI, we are all pushing for him to do so, and that can only be a good thing

Just received my eMax today (1 month in transit, bought during flash sale, not yet opened lol), I pray to the gods of RNG that I get good lens. Also the reviewer at htcmania opened his eMax and found a 3500mAh TCL branded battery while a reviewer at gizchina.de opened his and found a 3500mAh unbranded battery from Shenzen. I dunno if there is a difference between the two but I expect the TCL one to have better quality control.

In the end, 3500mah is 3500mah...doesn't matter who it comes from, lol. But seriously, it's a very long lasting battery either way, and that's all that matters
Have fun with your new toy My fingers are crossed you got an acceptable camera, no joke.

Comparing mine to itxtutor's eMax samples, I'd have to say I got the bad one. But I guess I have to learn to live with it. Although the first impression with the battery is kind of not good. Also any one knows how to change the default settings on the camera so you don't need to tinker with the settings everytime you open the camera?

Did you charge the battery to full? It does take awhile with the stock charger. I don't use said charger because of the many issues I've heard about it, though(like buzzing and getting really hot). Try a different charger and you will probably get better results. As for the camera, use a different app like Google Camera, it remembers the settings you put in, at least it does for me. And the end results are the same either way, unfortunately...sorry you didn't get a good one

I haven't charged the battery yet, except when connecting it to the PC, I've just only used up the battery, my nephew used it to watch 2 videos from youtube while using WiFi, it used up around 20% in 30-35 minutes.

Well, charge it up then, it takes a bit for the battery to settle in, after three or so charges, you'll see better results. Plus take the time to "listen" to the included charger, if it starts buzzing or getting really hot, discard it and use another one. Lot's of low quality chargers sent out with the eMax.

So, i'm actually using an ancient Galaxy SII and i'm looking to switch to the Moto G 3rd generation. I want to know honest opinions of Moto G owners to check if it fulfils my needs or if I need to keep saving money to buy another phone..
1) How is the performance? Are there much hiccups/lags/slow downs? How the SD410 + Adreno 306 do for gaming (Clash of Clans, Candy Crush..)? Does it heat up much? My SGS2 gets insanely hot when playing Clash of Clans, doing long time web browsing or long time phone calls... :crying:
2) For those who own the 2GB version, how is the multitasking? Is it worth the extra money?
3) How is the battery on both 4G and WiFi? I tried looking on the battery thread but got some discrepancy on the screenshots. I actually get 1h SOT on this 5 yo phone, have to charge it about 3 times a day, so anything above 3h is fine!
4) Are there any major bugs on the software? I found some threads but these bugs seems to be particular to the thread owners, I haven't found (yet) any wide spread bug.
5)I'm a bit worried about the new LCD panel since it's TFT. What do you guys think about it?
6) Would you recommend the phone? In a scale of 1 to 10 (considering the price, obviously), how much would you rate it?
I appreciate a LOT any feedback.. I want to retire this SGS2 as fast as possiblie. Thanks!!

The phone although i m also waiting to buy his phone as it is out of stock now but during this 2 weeks time span i have done a lot of research ,watching every review, unboxing, reading comment's etc and finally end up with the following result.
For 16 gigs/2gigs variant only.
1. Performance is amazingly smooth and buttery with stock android. The SD 410 handles up all the regular or extensive gaming task very easily. Find a little lag when playing nova 3 but that is negotiable considering the price of the device.
2.The phone heat ups upto 39-40 °c but that when recording with flash or playing games for more than half an hour. But the back panel absorbs 92% of heat so u wont feel anything unlike xiaomi that goes up to 49-50°c temp.
3. The camera is decent and has the ability to take good pictures unless u r a professional photographer. There is slight noise in the photo but not noticeable.
4. Battery lasts for one day with WiFi ,Bluetooth on and some gaming, whatsapp all time, and listening music and watching movies etc.
5. Out of 10 for me without using i think the phone deserves 9 considering the price. Overall its a budget smartphone and full value for money.
Regards
Banerjeeayan1996
Press thanks if it helped u.

1) I play Candy Crush, Riptide, Pokemon Shuffle, and other games all the time, the Moto G gets a little warm, but nothing like my Nexus 4 or previous phones... the performance is acceptable to good, but not excellent. Kind of like having a middle of the road graphics card in your PC, it does the job but won't impress anyone.
2) This is a personal preference thing, but I purchased and got the 2GB version, I switch apps around all the time and have zero issues with apps closing... Aside from the 2GB you also get 16GB of storage, which is almost essential especially if you are going to be installing some games. 1GB/8GB just won't cut it for more than average phone use, gaming would not be impossible but could be difficult.
3) I get good to great battery life... I average 4 hours of SOT on LTE in outdoor usage playing Ingress so the GPS is going all the time, screen near full brightness, graphics engine working hard, and 6 hours of SOT with average usage on WiFi. I average 4.5-5.0 hours of SOT per charge when needed, but at the end of an average day I still have 30% battery remaining.
4) If there are any major bugs, or even annoying minor ones, I have yet to see them. I am still stock/unrooted but using Nova Launcher Prime. This is one of the few phones I have had in a very long time where I do not have the urge to unlock, root, and ROM it... yet.
4a) Not really a bug(s), but two caveats on this one, the phone does not have a gyroscope... but uses 2 accelerometers instead, this can cause some directional issues in apps like Ingress or Waze (not Maps or Scout), the app thinks you are always pointing north. Once you realize it you just deal with it or switch to other apps. The other is that it does not have NFC, which is probably not a big deal unless you plan on using Android Pay or hacking amiibo.
5) The display is very nice, crisp and easily viewable from a wide angle... I have zero complaints on the display, it is 10x better than the display on old Nexus 4.
6) I would give it an 8.5, and recommend this phone for the average to mild Android enthusiast... It is basically stock Android with a couple add ins, and is about as close to a Nexus device as you get at half the price. If you are a hard core ROM flasher, enthusiast, or developer, prefer a larger/higher resolution screen, need NFC or a Gyroscope, this may not be the phone for you.
I had an SGS2 Skyrocket for a while, it was a decent phone but the battery life was horrid, since then I have moved onto several phones... step into 2015, you will be so glad you did, not having to look for a charger every place you go is liberating!
Not trying to sway you as I love my Moto G and would not give it up, but some alternatives to consider: Asus Zenfone 2, Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3, and Huawei Ascend Mate 2. My son got the Ascend Mate 2, the battery life is amazing... we talk about 4-6 hours SOT, he gets more like 12-15 hours of SOT, or not charging for several days, I have actually seen him go from Monday morning until Friday without charging. The Zenphone and Idol a little more feature rich and larger, they have gyroscope/NFC and some of the more premium features the Moto G is missing, at a price, my friend got two Zenphone 2 2GB/16GB models and it works well although he is hardly a hardcore user. Just some stuff to consider... Good luck.

Yeah.. I wake up and unplug the phone at around 5am to go to College, and when I arrive there, i'm already at ~60%. When I play CoC, the phone get's abnormaly hot (even tho it's undervolted) and the battery drain is absurd, like 2% a minute. And to make it worse, my original charger broke and I have to charge it trough a USB Port on my notebook, so basically the phone stays charging half of the day, and the other half i'm using it..
I live in Brazil, so it's extremelly hard to find Huawei, Oppo, Alcatel, etc. around here. What happens is people import the phone for it's regular price, and sell it for twice or even more. The OnePlus Two for example, it's not selling for south america, so people travel and buy or import it (dunno how) for it's regular price, ~390USD, and sell it here for around 1000USD. Same thing goes for all brands that doesn't sell here, like HTC. When phones are sold here by their own companies, the oposite happens, people import phones to sell them at a lower price compared to the company price tag. The Apple Iphone is a great example. Everything here is way more expensive compared to almost every other country in the world, due to our heavy amount of taxes.
I researched a bit the ZenFone 2, but after seeing some reviews, I didn't like at all their user interface, it's way too modified for my taste.. remembers me the old TouchWiz (clunky with too many features I won't use). And since It uses Intel, i'm afraid of a future lack of developers for custom Roms and Kernels.
I had a Sony Xperia S and NEVER used NFC. The gyroscope isn't a deal breaker for me.
Thanks for your reply! I'm almost sold for the Moto G. :highfive:

:highfive:

As others have said, get a 16 GB G and forget about all of the competition. Like too many android phones, those are just hulking brutes with no brain (no optimisation/support, ugly-as-f**k skins, bloatware everywhere, unimpressive design)
You're looking for a serious upgrade, not a spec toy
Saw the xz for about mid $400 online ,thinking that's low enough for me to buy rather that original +600 price.
-how has performance been on a day to day usage?
-any over heating issues?
-how has the camera performed on pictures and video?
-would you still need to backup DRM if wanting to root and unlock bootloader?
-how's battery life?
Any issues or concerns you might have, would greatly appreciate it. Thanks
I bought mine a few days ago. I am getting credited $150. I am glad I got mine.
- very smooth without any lags
- yes, when using the camera
- very good in btight light but very noisy when low light
- yes
- mine's bad but others say it's decent

Where is xz for 400!From what I search cheaper brand new one is $520
B&H has it for $450. I believe $475 shipped overnight. I got mine for $425 since I had credits shipped. Not sure where he got his for.
a. day to day usage is reasonable (occasional freezes but very rare)
b. no overheating at all (exceptional here)
c. camera/video performance strong (except low light/zoomed shots)
d. no root with a locked bootloader (unlock/back up drm keys etc.)
e. battery life 36 hrs on medium use/6hrs+ screen on time
the achilles heel is the ram management as approximately 50% is swallowed by nougat/system processes, and charging time can depend on the cable used (use the sony cable only)
seriously consider the xzs if you can afford it in April (improvements to camera, memory and battery)

-Excellent. No problems in daily usage.
- No over heat issues. In every situations.
- in my opinion i try every 2016 top phone. Xz have the Best camera overall. Video perfectly stabilized and very dettalied. Pictures perfect in every situations. The front camera too.
- I don't try for now but yes.
- For me is very good. If you active stamina with third option, you have excellent battery life with only x reality off and only better gestions of battery. I can play with games and do everything without problems and have fantastic battery life. I reach without stamina minium 5 hrs sot and maxium 6 hrs sot. With stamina third options minium 5:40 hrs maxium 8hrs (yes 8 hrs sot).
No issues with latest firmware on xz.
Just ordered mine, i was originally thinking of z5 premium but i wanted type C over the 4k display since i have nexus 5x and really enjoy the charging with type C's, i really wanted the XZ premium but im too impatient as this is my second nexus that i slept and sweated on in my sleep and had problems with the touch screen not registering touch at times (for a nexus 5x user having screen problems i'm probably i special case since i sweat a lot LOLOLOL). so in short bought my ZX off of amazon today with next day shipping. #coolstorybro ahah

my main concern wasn't the price, more of how fast it gets too me, maybe next day option isn't the best and there is a site out there that would of got it to me this after noon but nah not trippin.
there was a few for just shy of 400, hell for what i paid for i could of got the dual sim 64gb version but i realized that model is probably worse on the development aspect of it after looking at some roms on XDA for ZX not really compatible between single sim varrients. is this true? i only been researching the past day to see what were my options

well got the phone now, after booting it on US firmware, I eventually flash the NOBA version and so far it's all good, volume, double tap and signal is ok, signal bar is different form the US version which is 5bars, NOBA is only 4bars(US I get 4 bars/NOBA on 2), so I don't know if it's basically the same, so far speed is okay and smoothness is let's just say it like a BUTTER=) Battery life, maybe a day or two days after=)

Well, my wife just called me right now to greet me a HAPPY BIRTHDAY and it's loud enough for me, don't know what others are talking about the speaker... Bought this used-good in Amazon, and it's like brand new, missing earbuds though, but I don't care coz I used Bluetooth ?
So I want to get a new phone, and I was thinking of getting the S6 by the way my budget looks like at the moment since I am thinking a new phone in the price range I have in mine won't offer anything up to that. I want to mention that I am not a heavy user, but I do want a phone with a good camera, audio and display quality.
Also I won't look at buying a new one, but a second hand one.
Hi !
What's your price range ?
The S6 is really a good device and have indeed a good camera, audio and display quality but the bad point is battery life.
With 2550mah I can get only 1 full day with 3hours of screen on. I have changed my battery since a few month now.
Getting a second hand S6 will expose you to the risk of getting even worst battery life.
Only problem is battery...
Imho phone without 3k+ mah battery isnt enough no matter heavy user or not...
All the rest s6 is more the enough

Now that's some good advice above!
Like mentioned above, you'll probably have to replace the battery if it's a second hand though
It is still a very, very good phone but you may have to invest in a external battery if you are away from a mains power source for quite a while

My price range is up to 300 euros/dollars.
If you like to put AOSP custom roms on your phone, stay away from the S6. It is on it's way, but from from being completely stable.

If that is the case, it's a great phone! The Exynos 7420 is plenty fast, as it was truly ahead of its time. Battery life is decent. Screen is great.
for the given price and the amount of roms available not at all(and battery is like ****)... i made a foolish decision by buying this phone in 2016 when one plus 3 was available at a cheaper price... don't but this phone now.
I think if you can pick up an s6 for between 200-250 pounds, that's a good deal. It has a decent soc, screen and camera, yes battery could be better but that comes down to your usage and at some point depending on how old the handset is you might want to have the battery replaced. If you really value battery life then there are probably better devices but you will give up screen/cpu/ camera quality.
this year a lot middle range phones comes wit sd625 chip, which has +- performance like s6 Exynos. new sd 625 brand phones (if not Chinese brands) are expensive or same price like s6, but without super camera or screen like s6, wireless charger and etc. One bad thing with s6 - battery. I better buy 2 year old new s6 than mid class than mid class this year phone.

You can go for the S6 then !
You may have to replace the battery or buy a powerbank which is QC 2.0 compatible for best charging speed.
Like it has been said above, mid range phones will fail in the camera part and in the material used to build the device.
The only good point would be that mid range 2017 will get longer support than the S6 which is almost 2 years old now.
Anyway, Samsung updated the S6 to Nougat which is a really good news and the experience is even better than it was before.
You can also enjoy pretty neat features that you won't find on other mid range phones like the wireless charging, the led notification (not present in mid range samsung) or again the amazing camera
S6 is still a very good device. The camera is still one of the bests, the processor is fast enough, the display is magnificent. The battery is the only big disadvantage.
my s6 is 2years old and im still using it now, very good camera, very good display, still fast and smooth only downsidr is battery so i have a powerkbank when im outside
in my opinion it is worth to buy s6 until now
Just make sure the device has had the battery replaced as the original one will have degraded quite a bit in the last two years.
you better buy oneplus because even if you buy s8 its not worht it because you dont get support so wait for the one plus 5 with 8 gb ram, dual camera, fingerprint on the back, 5.5 inch amoled qhd display, oneplus logo with backlight you can use it as home button, and snapdragon 835 clocked at 2.45.
and its gonna kick the s8 of its thrones
Hey Raulz0r!
I own a Galaxy S6, and I have to say, it's an amazing phone camera/performance/display wise. The downside is the battery, but in my daily use, that only happens when I'm on 3G/4G data as it really drains the battery out so that's why I bought a 10000mah portable charger/power bank and now my phone's battery life doesn't bother me that much anymore. But if you're not into the habit of carrying a portable charger around, well, that will be a problem.
Cheers
If I had the opportunity I would definitely buy S8 or S8+. It is great if you are coming from old model phone also.
I bought S6 in january 2017 and I will pay for it around 240eur in total. Its on contract for 2years and costs Me 9,94eur a month. This purchase was spontan as My old phone (LG G3) contract was almost over and I kinda wanted a new phone. LG G3 still works ok and I willing to sell it. My toughts about tgis phone right now - somewhere in middle. Biggest issue I have is whit touchscreen. I don't know it is Me or what but response can be sometimes too sensitive and not responding compleately outside in winter. This is a major issue for Me as G3 was working as expected. I must use correction on S6 all the time. Screen - I haven't bin a fan of super amoleds and I'm still not. Colors are too saturated and from some angles it looks ****ty and cheep. On highest brigtness it looks also bad. Vibration - on hard surface it makes a lit of sound, and again - it makes phone look like entry-level. Battery - small, but I use phone onky up to 3h sot and I charge evety night. It isn't an issue for Me. Phone look and feel in hands - it is slippery, but I like alunium bezzels and thickness. Sound is good on speaker and headphones. Processing power is ok for Me. I'm not a heavy user as I mentioned. FB usage only in web broweser, so is Instagram. Camera is ok for phone, but don't expect dsrl quality for now on any phone. Heartrate sensor is a toy to play whit, but can be quite inaccurate, but I like Samsung Health app and GPS performance. GPS was a very noticable improvements over G3.
Overall for 240eur I'm not complaining, but if I would pay 300, 400 eur I would take it back. Biggest complain would be about touchscreen performance. If You spotted typo mistakes it because of that.
hi my note 5's screen got broke so I need a new smartphone
with my price tag the only solid options are the hTC 10 and the Huawei Mate 9
I found some reviews bashing the headphone jack performance of the mate 9 so for comparison with the galaxy s7 for example or the note 5 for those who owned both of the devices how is it.
also the gaming performance how is it ?for example how much fps you get with Riptide Renegade on high settings
and also I would like to know if there is a flaw or a problem you encountered with this phone.
sorry for being long and I would really appreciate your help.
thanks in advance

Personally i have no complaints. There are minor ticks here and there but thats as expected. HEadphone jack is fine on my unit. BT is really nice. Battery is great. i avg 9-10 hours SOT per charge and thats over 2 days for me. ( 1d 18hr )
Ive tweaked a few things. i do not get push notifications unless it is from a text.
I also do not use FB apps. Instagram or SC. ( use Metal for FB and website for instagram )
ONLY use the chaarger included with it. or the one huawei makes for car charging.
Reception is great. Small things here n there on Tmo but it works well.
Camera is Excellent. i was 15ft away from a car at a show and in the photo you can read the tire sidewall!
CONS:
Limited cases and Glass coveres
Limited charger options
Trickle charge issue. ( old HTC things. unplug for a few minutes then plug back in for about 5-10 more. gives a true full charge )
I have a 128gb SD in and i love having 183gb to store anything on.
DO NOT use the internal batteyr estimator. Not accurate ( USE GSAM )
Compared to my Note 5 this is THE BEST phone i have ever used. Im going to sell my Note 5, eave sprint and stick just to Tmobile. or ATT idk yet.
Can't argue with this.
On Amazon (in Germany) you can find now plenty of cases for Mate 9. I can recommend the Spigen rugged case that I purchased lately and it is really good. Glass protection is indeed a big problem: most of the items that claim they are for the Mate 9 are to narrow and the few ones that are having the right size are of a very bad quality.
The phone itself is great, better than everything I had so far (my last phone was an LG G4). The screen is "only" full HD, but to be frank, I do not see the need to have a higher resolution on a phone (it still can make 4K videos if this is what you need). Video recording quality is really great: the most beautiful colors I have seen on a phone video recording so far. Wide aperture photos are a hit among my family and friends (I am the only one now in charge to take photos in my family when we go out ). ANTUTU benchmark almost 120k - faster than my colleague's Galaxy S7 - so, whatever you want to do with it, it will do it great.
The only thing that I miss sometimes is the support for MHL (but it has other mirroring options). And I would have liked to have the option to hide the Android navigation keys in all applications but the screen is anyhow huge so, this is not a big issue either since the keys are anyhow hidden when you play videos or I read a book.
so what about notifications problems that is all over internet? is that solved already?
at least europe versions.. I want all my notification instantly like on other phones, no matter is that whatsapp or something else..
And is it true that notification are gone from lockscreen after unlocking phone or just putting screen on to see what is it?
i'm also considering to get this model

Notification problem happens with the Chinese version, as far as I know, i have the EU version and i get all the notifications.
Honestly, even now, this is the BEST phone there is, the first phone i don't need root as there are workaround for everything, performance, and battery and top notch, camera is great but slightly disappointing in low light, screen is big apparently now "old school" and very sharp and bright, stereo speakers are great, the DAC is average at best but still decent.
Fantastic phone, camera, battery life, screen, sound of speakers, build! Not so awesome is the update history of Huawei. Updates come late and limited.
The only real drawback is the lack of developers. I had hoped for LineageOS, but I think that boat is torpedoed and sunk.
Still GREAT value!
Battery is stellar. I've been in bed all day sick, with my phone by my side. Almost at 10 hours screen on time at 13% battery left. Bluetooth has been used, connected on WiFi.
It's the best phone I've EVER had. Well, S3 note 4 and G2 are up there.
The HD screen is fine. I had the G4 S7 previously. Don't miss the screens.
The video recording format is irritating in that 2k won't upload to YouTube. It's too modern.
Definitely give the phone a go. I bought the Chinese 6gig 128gig version converted to international ROM. Have contemplated selling but just can't let it go! Even my mate with his S8 loves it. Oh, and it's not got a curved screen, another plus for me!
Didn't want to buy a phone with non removable battery.
Pretty much a non issue with this phone as it's hot such a great battery and a sensible screen resolution so doesn't drain fast.
The camera bokeh effect is simply the best on the market by a mile. Low light is mediocre though.
Massive screen. Great speed. Phenomenal finger print sensor.
I hated the soft keys but you learn to hate them less.
Overall delighted with this thing.
Doesn't slow down. If anything it goes faster with time which is odd but just what they seek to claim!
what about 4k video and auto upload to google photos? is that solved or it must be converted into h264?
This is the best phone I've ever had. Coming from an s7 and wife has s8 plus and still use a note 5 for our home phone. It's without question my favorite! Screen still looks fantastic for 1080. The battery is off the chain. I could easily go 2 days and have, just generally charge it before I go to bed and is always above 50%. Fast!!!! Smooth!!! I don't know how they do it, but next to Apple this is the must fluid phone out there. Heck, I'd say it's smoother than my friends 7S. Only paid 400 for it and it's dual sim to boot.
Honestly can't say enough about it. Only get rid of it if mate 10 is better somehow. I am intrigued by less bezels.

It's the best phone AFTER the B186 and up update, before that battery life was ****. I am on the 190 now with the phone updating to 193. It is the best phone in terms of battery life, performance and hardware/software. Too bad the update method is ****... like a HUGE TURD that third parties have to fill the gaps on this. Oh it's also **** that some of the huawei apps are in chinese (like the store) or whatever... It sucks BIG TIME.
I'm not a fan myself.
The Huawei android skin is yet another confusing and pointless skin that just causes issues and degrades Android. Go for a Google phone and have Android in it's true glory rather than in a compromised and inferior veneer.
Oh yes and it looks like I can 'kiss goodbye" to any updates from Huawei, with the Mate 10 phone now round the corner.
My last Android security patch was for April.
