GS5 with Android Version 5.0 build LRX21T.G900VVRU2BOG5 Root - Verizon Galaxy S 5 General

Having some issues with getting this device rooted. I have attempted a couple of tutorials on this site and haven't had much luck

This is the only one that works with OG5. http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/general/root-method-og5-ok3-t3290370

Keep getting stuck at step 16, tried pulling the battery and reopening the bat file as well. No luck. Any ideas?

I already had root so I haven't tried that, but I'd suggest asking in that thread and seeing if anyone can help as I have no clue as to why that's occurring.

Well don't root it because it'll never update then. Have you wiped data? If that won't work go to How to fix your phone get the download package for EP4 and follow the instructions exactly. Then take the 2 updates.

I'm sorry I tried to just delete the post and was not smart enough to find the delete option after I hit edit/delete. I thought I read that this would work after the update but later found that not to be the case. I'm already on 4.4 so I am assuming that that was the problem for me. Sorry I'm no help

Any luck yet

So as title says any luck with rooting the lollipop update yet? I updated without thinking and now I am stuck without root
from my understanding, you can still root with the Chainfire, battery pull method as long as you do the OTA or stock Loly update first.

Root and Lollipop are working fine on many devices. Also your question is pretty much meaningless without a model number. Each carrier's phone is different.
Yeah sorry I figured since I posted in this forum it was self explanatory don't mean to sound rude but yeah sprint note edge haven't had any luck rooting after lollipop update did official update as well thanks

This is the general Note Edge Q&A. Issues for every carrier go here. Sprint should root fine with CF-Auto-Root and TWRP, just as in KitKat.
Once again sorry but I must be doing something wrong after all cant seem to get it right here aee my steps boot to dl mode open odin 3.07 click pda open autoroot it fails pull out battery wait one min then go back to dl mode open another odin try flashing twrp still fails any suggestions thanks in advance

What version of TWRP are you flashing? I have not needed to wait one minute or perform any other fancy steps. I just flash TWRP immediately after CF-auto-root.

He has specified already that it is a Sprint Note Edge (SM-N915P)
2.8.01 i think ill have to check when i get home later on.
No root here, on ATT model.
Probably we're not gonna get any further since the popularity of this certain device is quite low.
It feels like only a handful of us have this device LOL!
Lol yeah sometimes i feel that way as well.

AT&T models have a locked bootloader. That's an entirely different issue.

Flashfire forcecloses.

I downloaded the Flashfire apk in hopes I'd be able to flash from my phone without recovery and every time I try going into the app, it instantly force closes. Has this happened to anyone else?
It's probably because your bootloader is unlocked.
Honestly though I haven't heard of this.
I'm assuming you have the latest version and that you are rooted correct?
Has it worked at all on your setup?
Have you tried factory resetting, installing, and trying?
Maybe this might help someone who is more capable of helping than I am.

Have the latest version and I'm rooted. I've tried multiple times. Ah, I guess I'll just continue trying.
No issue with stock rooted.
No good. I knew one of the last 3 updates had a force close issue on 64 bit fixed. Was hoping it was that easy. Hopefully someone else will pop in for ya

There is one thing you might try. Delete the app. Go to your root folder data/data and delete the eu.chainfire.flash folder. Download and install the app again and see if it works.

Tried your suggestion, still doesn't work. Oh well, I'll just have to wait til something else comes along that'll let me flash.

What version is it?
When you say it "force closes", are you getting an error message?

Received an OTA today, any idea what it is?

I had an OTA update available this morning. It's only 51.3 MB so it can't be anything major. Maybe a stagefright fix? Anyway, I pulled it just in case anyone wants to check it out. I'm already on D80130B. I'm rooted with TWRP. Is there any easy way to install it without losing TWRP?
Here's the link for it: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5ast6zoe514ikjk/update.zip?dl=0
Is it 878 TMO/T-MOBILE(USA) V30c?
D80130c_00.kdz is 1.05 GiB as usual.

I thought stagefright fix too so I let it go for the heck of it. It installed fine and I didn't seem to lose root or anything. I ran a stagefright test and only 2 are blocked which I think is what it told me a couple months ago. I didn't see any obvious changes.

Do you have a custom recovery? I tried flashing it in TWRP but it failed.

I do. I just ran it right from my running phone. I was in the middle of some work so I wasn't watching it but as far as I know it installed fine. If I check for updates now it says there are none, up to date.
Just tried to install the OTA (51.3 MB).
Phone rebooted, tried to install it and showed error.
Have to hold power button quite sometime to reboot the phone.

That's the same thing that happened with me. I just got the notification for the update again today.
Sorry, I was wrong about mine getting installed. Like I said was busy with work so I kinda assumed it all went though fine. Still no idea what this is?

Once it went through for somebody, he can tell us!
I noticed that it fixed all but one stage fright vulnerability.
I also just realized that it patched many of the current root solutions.

Oh really? So you lost root then?
I just switched to TMO and got a refurb LG G2 a couple of weeks ago. I stupidly took the OTA before rooting and then realized that many of the root exploits didn't work afterwards. Thanks to the brilliant devs at XDA, I did find a method that works: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-method-lg-devices-t3129197
I'm a happy camper running CM 12.1 now!
I am half tempted to unroot using SuperSU unroot tool, see if I can apply the patch and see what happens... or has anyone tried this yet?

I'm not sure that would work. Being rooted doesn't usually prevent the manual installation of updates. The problem is whether or not you have a custom recovery. I believe the OTA needs the stock recovery to install.
so.. anybody found solution how to install?
