Failing to flash stock firmware. - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As title says I am having trouble flashing original stock firmware onto my phone.
The model number is: SM-G920F.
I originally installed a rom which caused my phone to lose it's baseband. I then tried to flash a stock firmware and it didn't work. In ODIN it just fails instantly.
I noticed that in download mode it says that the "product name is: SM-G920P" however.
So I flashed the G920P instead which got it working back to normal.
The only problem is I don't live in the US. I live the UK. The firmware is rejecting my sim card.
I want to flash the G920F and am having some trouble. If anyone could help I would appreciate it if someone could talk me through this.
I have looked around the forums etc and I haven't seen a solution to my problem.
Thanks in advance.

You've got a CDMA version of the S6, as far as I know, no UK carrier uses CDMA, they use GSM, so you're out of luck if you want to get it to work in the UK.

You can try using "Smart Switch". I wasn't able to flash ITV firmware over the BTU, it failed at hidden. I tryed with Smar Switch and it work.

G920F Weirdness Firmware

Hello,
Just bought a topaz blue unlocked S6. I think it came from an Asian country. The phone arrived perfectly with plastic in box with the same IMEI as phone. However it was rooted with SU. I went into the app and clicked to remove root. It was on 5.0.2. They I tried to flash original firmware with Smart Switch with no success.
I used odin to flash stock 5.1.1 firmware from the UK. The firmware was for 920F. It went all good. I have LTE, SMS and phonecalls. However, sometimes the baseband appears as unknown, but I still can make calls and have LTE. And it still shows the same IMEI as it is on the box and it has always shown it. Is there a way to fix this? Now, I try to flash stock firmware with Smart Switch and it says it can't initialize.
I would REALLY appreciate help. I would love to be able to flash stock firmware from Smart Switch.
I'm in México with Telcel, which uses the same bands as AT&T.
P.S. I really searched and couldn't find anything on my specific situation.
That happened to me when I was still on 5.0.2 and flashed only the 5.1.1 modem. I would suggest downloading the modem.tar file and flash that. Should all be good after that.
I'm currently downloading G920FXXU1AOD4 BTU firmware to flash it with Odin. Might that help me better? My main goal is to be 100% stock without any weirdness. And having Smart Switch recognize my phone!
Well, I'm sad.

You cannot downgrade to 5.0.2 from 5.1.1. Your bootloader will not support. I have the issue with 3G connection. Where to get the Modem.tar?

Successful flash of SM-G920F - Anyone

OK, no matter what method I try I am unable to achieve a successful flash of my phone. I have tried it via odin with many different firmware versions but all seem to fail almost immediately. The only way to resolve this is to use samsung switch and reset phone to stock. The problem is stock firmware is german vodafone full of vodafone bloatware, I want to get rid of it and flash a UK unbranded firmware but no matter what I do I am unable to achieve this. I can see from the forum that there are many people out there with the same flashing problem but with no real responses on how to achieve the goal. There must be people out there that have achieved this task but don't seem to be offering up much help?
ok

Is your phone international unlocked out of the box? I dont believe it was, because as far as I've read international unlocked phones come with "unbranded" firmware. The unlocked ones I know can be pretty much flashed with "any" international firmware, which is what you are trying to do.
If you dont know for sure. Odin the stock German Vodaphone. Let the phone boot. Boot back to stock recovery, then factory reset and clear cache.
Then let the phone boot...Download phone info app by vndnguyen (free version is fine)...Open the app, go to CSC Code tab. Then that will tell you the active CSC code and your firmware CSC code...you are looking for the line that says Available CSC Codes. If it only lists German Vodaphone (VD2), then I believe you are stuck til the phone is unlocked.
Anyone, jump in here if I'm mistaken. I am using this as reference as, I've checked my G920F. Mine is unlocked tho and I can flash any firmware from any region with no problem. Hopefully I've answered your question.
I had no luck with the firmwares on the firmware page either.
If you are on OI9 check http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/general/guide-android-6-0-marshmallow-beta-how-t3277533
And try flashing the first stock firmware https://drive.google.com/folderview...sharing&tid=0B40ItdHKfkyQd1hJQXVDU3dDU2c#list (not the android M one!) via ODIN.
Basic process is:
Download the above file, extract, there should be 4 files inside (AP,BL,CP,CSC), simply select each one to go in the relevant box on ODIN, then go into download mode on your phone and click start...
N.B. Be aware that the above firmware contains a PIT file which will reformat and resize the partitions on your phone, so make sure you have a copy of the stock firmware that works before trying the flash (i.e. the one which Smart Switch downloads). You can grab it from your windows %TEMP% directory during the smart switch download (it first downloads a file to TMPxxx, then extracts it into a directory of the same name, its these files you want. They should be the four files beginning with the type of ODIN file you are flashing (AP,BL,CP,CSC). The files get deleted after the firmware has flashed so make sure you watch the process. If things go wrong you can re-flash these files via ODIN
As far as I was led to believe and when I purchased the phone it did state factory unlocked. I was able to put in any sim when I received it and didn't have to go through any aftermarket unlock process?
I have the same problem i have a unlocked G-920F with egyptian CSC and firmware 5.1.1 .when i try to flash BTU 5.1.1 via odin, i have the same problem and only way to recover is via smart switch.BTU firmware is from sammobile

Well downloaded the app for CSC info and it states available CSC codes are...
ATL, AVF, CNX, CYV, MOB, MTL, OMN, SIM, SWC, TCL, VD2, VDC, VDF, VDH, VDI, VGR, VIP & VOD
Any ideas?
Ok, tried to get stock firmware when samsung smart switch was downloading and installing but couldn't see where the firmware was being downloaded to? Tried windows temp etc but nothing appeared during download and install?

Just type in %TEMP% into you windows explorer address bar and it will take you there. arrange by date modified and you will see the size ticking up during the download, before the flash starts it will extract into a folder with the same name, the md5 files can be grabbed from there
No probs here

Ok, Got it this time, all four files. Will give the method above a go and if it fails at least I've got the stock firmware to fall back on?
Magic, have had great success. Now on the BTU firmware and everything is up and running. Got the stock as well just in case but if this continues to work won't be reinstalling stock. So a big thanks to those who helped

SM-G920F showing wrong model number after failed update!

Hi,
I recently got a SM-G920F off the internet and noticed it was running android v.5. There was no update option available in the usual place so I tried to update to Marshmallow manually with Odin and it failed during the update process.
I've now noticed that even in Odin Mode, it's showing as a SM-G920P. As a result of this, only US (SM-G920P) firmware installs (everything else just fails) which isn't any use as I'm in the UK! I've tried to reset using smartswitch but it doesn't even recognise the serial number. The back of the phone states it is a SM-G920F and I was previously able to download apps to confirm that the phone isn't a fake.
Has anyone else had this problem? I think I just need to configure the phone to be a SM-G920F again and it will take the firmware but I can't find a way. Have tried editing the prop.build file in /system but it's still saying it's a G920P in Odin mode. Any ideas/help would be appreciated.
Cheers.
where did you get the phone from? for me it sounds like it is a g920p. also your seller may have replaced the back cover of your device. in this case, the produced backcover will always show g920f because its the most common version.
also, editing the build.prop and other system files to show g920f firmware won't change anything. some custom roms even show g935f (galaxy s7 edge). but you're still not able to install a galaxy s7edge firmware over odin.
it's like putting an apple sticker onto a windows machine. it shows "apple" but it is still not a mac.
Thanks for the reply, Tim. I got the phone from an eBay seller in Hong Kong. It definitely was a G920F as I took a few screenshots before the upgrade and they show it was running the G920F version of Lollipop before the botched upgrade.
Cheers.
ok, could you possibly post them?
Sure, Tim. Both of these were taken before it all went wrong...
I'm unable to post pics on here so have placed on imgur dot com/a/Izrw7
Thanks again.

Problem with flash Stock Firmware Nougat. No signal, only emergency Calls.

Hi Guys
First of all, i´m sorry my english is not very good and i have to use a Translator.
I recently bought a used SM-G930F. The previous owner had flashed before so although everywhere says SM-G930F in settings in "model information" says "SM-G930FD". Also when a SIM is inserted the "DualSIM Administrator" appears. Had Mashmallow installed and worked perfectly.
I wanted to try flashing the new NOUGAT BTU firmware stock. I did it through ODIN. The process had no errors. When the phone restarted I see that it has no signal. It recognizes that you have a SIM card inserted but "emergency calls only" appears.
The IMEI was not deleted.
Immediately I downloaded a stock firmware from my country ARGENTINA to go back to MARSHMALLOW and I installed it but the same thing is still happening. Then I tried to download another stock firmware from my country and my operator CLARO ARGENTINA, but the same thing is still happening.
I read in forums that the problem may be the modem, but I understand that is modified in the box "CP" of ODIN when flashing.
I honestly do not know what else to do. I also do not remember what firmware I had before doing the whole process.
I understand I should have backed up everything but I did not.
So I ask you please if you can help me.
Thank you very much

try flashing the specific modem and bootloader of your phone. you might want to try mashmallow modem.
You say I try flash only the modem and bootloader that come included in stock firmware from other countries? Must I only check the boxes "BL" and "CP" from ODIN? Thats correct?

I also tested Firmware flash from several countries in America and others, for example Chile, Colombia, Brazil, Mexico, Germany, Portugal. I also tested with some G930FD firmware from Vietman, Singapore, but there was no case. The only thing that stands out is that with Vietnam although no signal, "allowed" the band 4G, did not allow it in all previous cases, do not know if something to see.
u have any issues with wi-fi?? it looks like a modem problwm to me..
Try flashing the stock rom back with the samsung kies program so it will flash back the original stock rom that came with the phone and see if you then have your connection back. If that works then try to flash the BTU.

Hi!
No, the Wi-Fi works fine
Phone is likely IMEI blocked (reported stolen)
Is it possible? I'll find out and tell you. Thank you

Flashed stock firmware through Odin and now phone doesnt recognize my network

After flashing a stock android 7.0 firmware with Odin my phone boots up normally without any problems, however it doesnt detect my network.
The firmware I used was from argentina, which is not my country but uses the same 4g bands so i figured it wouldnt matter.
is there a way to fix this? or i just have to flash to my old firmware (which I totally forgot which one was it).
I would appreaciate any help, Im a novice when it comes to this stuff.
back to stock
After the root to the stock firmware, did you a factory reset?
Sometimes it will help after you put your phone back in stock firmware.

Call your provider and ask them to reprovision your device on their end. That helps often.
