does somebody knows a player that play m3u (video) streams ?
I want to play my dreambox tv streams on my handy.
I can save the m3u File local (HD Browser) . Then when i open the file, there is no streamprogram (video) who can play it. i have rock player - but this programm doesnt start with this files.
Anbody a idee ?

I'm not very sure if this will work but try WinAmp, you can use it for free from the Android Market, but because WinAmp is a computer media player then I guess it may be able to play it.
ANY1 any solution for this? I have exactly the same problem, apart from the receiver which is Kathrein instead of Dreambox. I found Mobo Player, which is supposed to play the stream, but it does not show any video nor audio, although showing time running, as if playing. Any developments on this matter?

Winamp is for audio only.
I am looking for a video player for my m3u playlist as well.
I found xiialive but it plays only audio.. I have tried many video players from the market but no luck.

Just tested
MX Played can't open m3u
Vitamio opens m3u file but didn't play stream video.
Rockplayer opened m3u file and there was only sound.
Deadbeef plays online streams
as long as you've installed the proper plugins pack.

your MX player work with .m3u File?
which codec you use or version of MX player?
I have pay version and codec from there custom for AC3 audio and m3u file didnt work and same problem is with neon codec.

I used kodi to open m3u and play video/audio with MX player , it works magically

Can it do it with the HDMI adapter and a video player like mvideoplayer ?
It is possible if you have the player in Software (S/W) Decoder mode, for both .avi files with external .srt files and .mkv files with the subs muxed in. Subtitles will not display if you are in Hardware (H/W) Decoder mode. It should be the same with MX Player Pro.

It should. I tried with a 1.5 gb avi file in software and it worked
you can, just rename the subtitle as the same as the video file ex: theraidredemption.mkv --> theraidredemption.srt
tested with stock video player app and dice player app (both in H/W decoder mode)

How did you get the stock video app to play subtitles? It does not have any options for it.
You just have to rename the .srt the same as the video file, video.mkv and video.srt, when you play the .mkv it will auto load the subtitle, you don't need to change a single setting, it works on my tablet too using the stock video player.
Ah, good to know. Shame the stock player doesn't handle subs within mkv files.
So, MX Player appears to have hardware decoding, but you have to side load the Intel codecs.
I am right now watching live sports through my HRHomerun Prime using this method.
1) Install MX Player from the market MX Player Free On Google Play
2) Side Load the Intel Hardware Codec from MX Player Side Load
3) Install the AC3 audio Codec from
XDA MX Player AC3 Audio Codec
To Watch HDHomerun Prime channels with the method play the network stream

I'm using the mx player pro on a Sony Xperia 1.
Mkv files with DCA audio codec work fine. Mkv files with trueHD don't play. VLC player is able to play the mkv files with trueHD audio codec on this device.
I use mx player because of the ability to change subtitle position. VLC doesn't have this feature.
Can there anything be done to make mkv files with trueHD audio codec play on MX Player?

Hi, I have an issue with MX Player on Android 9, LG G6 phone when trying to view files recorded by Panasonic TX-65HX820E.
I use BubbleUPnP (or DMS Explorer with the same result) to find the files but when I open a file there's a message in MX Player 'Can't play this link'.
I've found that using BubbleUPnP browser the VCL Player on Android can open files recorded by my TV but it can't seek inside files.
Also MX Player can open other files hosted by my TV by in MP4 format.

File is downloaded on my phone without extension. But when I change extension to mp4 or avi it can be opened by MX Player correctly.
MX Player in information shows that media format is MPEG-TS (MPEG-2 Transport steam). VLC shows that codec is H264-MPEG-4 AVC (part 10).

And on Windows the file is downloaded with tts extension.
I think that the problem is that the files recorded by my TV doesn't have any extension and MX Player doesn't recognize them correctly.
Is there some workaround in MX Player settings to handle it or it could be fixed in the code?
