HDMI out - X Style (Pure) Accessories

Does the Moto X support HDMI out? I tried the MHL adapter (supported by Samsung) and it does not plug in the micro-USB port. I know I can go the chromecast route, but just curious if there is HDMI out capability? And what adapter has worked for others?
Thanks!

It doesn't appear to support MHL. I connected my adapter with and without using the power port on the side to my MXP and no video comes out.
The adapter does produce video with my S3.

as far as i have read there is no mhl compatibility with moto x pure. But it supports casting to devices so its not needed really

Is this a feature that requires hardware support? Is there any chance a ROM could add support in the future?

MHL does require extra hardware, so no, a ROM will not be able to enable this.

World is full of strange people. Because you do not need to entangle yourself with wires, they (moto) gave us screencast feature, and now people are asking about WIRES again!
TV sets now are coming with Screencast support but if you do not have this feature in TV then read next line....
I am casting (broadcasting) everything (movies, games, android screen, etc) on my 32inch LCD TV, even without wifi router.
I use Pandora S HDMI streaming dongle which does not need WIFI/Router. Direct wireless connection of phone with dongle (attached on HDMI port on tv) http://www.portronics.com/pandora-s-hdmi-streaming-dongle.html
With this device costing only USD27, I can broadcast my Phone, PC, Laptop, etc on TV all wirelessly

I have a Samsung 55 LED that I got about a year ago. I go into the Cast->More Settings, Select my TV, once connected, then tab for Wireless display. I don't have HSI at home, so no Router in between.
This allows me to mirror anything from NetFlix, Sports streaming, Hulu, etc on the big screen.

No. Pandora is for TV connected to TV via HDMI and phone via wifi.
For car, its only Bluetooth solution. Seems you are trying to confuse yourself.

I tested ok with mp4 and mkv formats. Dont know if you are asking about any other formats. never had any problem in media files. I think the device is capable of all codec, but I have not tested others. Should work.

It's weird how the default unedited (I haven't touched anything) buildprop on my phone says HDMI is enabled.
I just got my Moto X Pure Edition, i'm still pretty new to it, but it seems at though there may be a way to get HDMI working. Maybe not, I just thought you guys might find that interesting.
I've included a screenshot of it.

I was meaning as casting like chromecast but wireless anything has its latency and flaws

Not too many people know this, but there's a mini-HDMI jack hidden within the bottom left edge of the device. All you need is a Dremel and a little patience. If you're not comfortable using a Dremel, ask a drill-savvy iPhone 7 owner

Yes I know if the projector has an HDMI input it will be like attaching to HD TV, but Iam asking about how to connect to a projector with VGA port

One point to Note: You do need to connect the charger for the HDMI to work which can be a bummer

So I get this right, the HDMI adapter needs to be powered externally for it to work?

I haven't tried it but maybe a pricey but elegant solution could be using the Samsung AllShare Cast Wireless Hub (info is here).
No cables at all!
To use a VGA projector you'd again need an HDMI to VGA connector. But this time it would be attached to the hub, that is powered by itself by its cable.
This answer my original ancient question: "Is it possible to send the display signal to a projector through wifi?". And the answer is (apparently): "YES!"
I've seen a video where the hub was used to send to a TV set the images of a race game, while playing with it. No evident lag at all.
I wonder if there could be a similar device made by some third party (-> less expensive).

Just recently I had the projector with VGA cable but discovered that the projector had the second, HDMI port, so I quickly connected the AllShare cast dongle to HDMI and the projected screen quality was even better.

Surface RT to TV

I want to watch movies on my RT on my downtime from work. I have an apartment with a flat screen TV that has HDMI, VGA, all the red, white, and yellow pins, USB ports. I hate cables. I have wifi, but I am unsure if the TV has wifi or bluetooth. Of course the Surface has wifi and bluetooth (i think).
I think you know where I am going. How do I wirelessly watch what I have on my Surface on my TV? Easiest, cheapest, wireless way. Thank you, lgnationrc

Bluetooth won't be high enough bandwidth for any sort of respectable video feed (nor does the RT support streaming out to it), and I'm not aware of any wifi streaming that works from the RT, unless you have a 360 on the TV.
You'll need to attach some computer or game console to the TV, and find an app in the store that does wifi streaming out.

That's cool! Just whish that the entire screen could be sent to the TV via DLNA, I mean the startscreen or an app or a game. As it is now it has to be built in to the app as I understand it, I would like to be able to clone the screen no matter what app I'm using.
You can do that with a simple micro hdmi to hdmi cable.

The 6P supports WiFi Direct, so I would suggest you go that route if at all possible. You may need to get a Miracast dongle for your flat panel display of projector.

I think because it's still USB 2.0 that it can't output via HDMI. On another note don't waste your time with a miracast dongle. I'm pretty sure Google dropped support for that to exclusively use Chromecast. IMHO I feel it's leaps and bounds better than miracast anyway and you can still mirror your phone

HDMI works just fine over USB2, it's MHL or SlimPort that extracts video/audio from phone microUSB port. I don't know details how it works, but that I use for my S3 with MHL adapter to feed HDMI input.
The specs say specifically WiFi Direct, which is what Miracast uses as the transport, so Miracast should work. It works well with my Nexus 7, and the Nexus 4, 5 and 10 work as well. The Motorola Nexus 6 did not support WiFi Direct. If Chromecast supports mirroring to the USB port of a flat panel or projector to display the output of the phone or tablet screen for PowerPoint, AutoCAD, etc, then great. At least in the past, that was not the case.

thats... not how chromecast works. receiving device needs something (chromecast, roku, fire stick) that supports the chromecast protocol (cast method). from there, you can mirror (cast) your device screen or chrome tab.
as far as using a miracast dongle goes, i believe it's the same principle as chromecast. you won't get display through the USB port of your device. the dongle has to connect through some video throughput (usually HDMI). most (if not all) display-only devices do not have the capability to accept display through a USB port.

what does having UDP and steaming movies have to do with CC? are you saying you want to steam movies from your phone to your device? there are apps that do this, including ES File Manager. if you're traveling, you'll need two devices to set up the CC to use your hotspot, but short of that, CC should work great for your needs.

in my case streaming over wi-fi comes with annoying latency - that's delay between car touchscreen action and video display as reaction

I thought I could live without root and ARUnchained so that Android Pay would work easily, and just get by with screen mirroring without touch interface on the head unit. Since Marshmallow, I haven't rooted and I've just been mirroring my N5 through SlimPort. I don't know that I can get by like this after being so used to full interface. And I imagine that the lag on Chromecast would be highly annoying. I'm quite disappointed there is no HDMI output on 6P, but I'm getting it anyway.

Oops, you are right. I said USB, but meant HDMI. For my Actiontec dongle, you use the USB port to power it, but the HDMI port for the video / audio.
I'll be honest... I see almost no lag Casting my N5 screen of a 1080p Youtube clip to Chromecast 2.
It actually surprised the hell out of me that the quality of the cast was much better than choosing the same video through the YouTube app for Chromecast

I use the 6P via miracast to my AppRadio and the lag is non existant. The Nexus 5 struggled a bit but the 6P doesn't. This is using a Microsoft Wireless adapter.
Assuming you have supported the ARU developer, then join the Alpha group and he has a version that automates the connection process for Miracast / Chromecast. I have also posted in the ARUR thread how to get the screen to dim down to nothing.

Mainly because TV technology has moved on and the technology to stream is in most of those now. Very few phones will support MHL or Slimport going forwards, if any at all within a year.
I would not have bought the Nexus 6P if I'd known that it did not support HDMI out. No doubt about it.

Can we project one plus one to external display

Hey guys, I have been searching but I couldn't find, is there any way that I can project my phone to external display which is a projector by the way with a vga port.. So a microusb to vga converter can do this job aur any thing that can help me plz do tell me.. Thankyou..
No one???
I don't think you can by cable. You can by Casting (wifi).
Apparently the one plus one is not mhl compatible, so an usb adapter won't work like already said by JeffDC. You can cast using miracast if the projector is compatible, or maybe search about buy a device like a chromecast for exemple ?
No mhl support, chromecast only. The new chromecast devices are good for 5ghz
Boosted 1+1
Does your projector have HDMI input? If so, chromecast would work nicely.
Chrome-cast, or really any wifi direct gadget ought to work. I use Netgears in my house and on travel. Perfect.
Chromecast is the answer for your question. If you don't want to buy it then connect the projector to you computer or laptop and use some screen mirroring apps from play store to mirror your phone to the PC.
Mirrorop from play store is a good option.

Obviously no integrated mini-hdmi port on the device. Me thinks the bandwidth, complex data transport (video + sound) plus dcma characteristics of a modern hdmi interface can not be emulated via OTG (usb port). So I'll wager a semi-educated guess - NO.
Read somewhere the device supports miracast and/or chromecast but haven't dabbled with those directly.

it does not connect to a normal HDMI port, it must be an MHL compatible HDMI port on the back of the display. Usually the letters MHL will be above the specified port.

I have a Xperia Z5 and hdmi via hdml works fine with the same cable and port...
The MHL port has the same form as an HDMI port, but it isn't HDMI. HDMI is High-Definition Multimedia Interface, a standard connector included on most new TVs, which allows for uncompressed high-definition digital video and multi-channel audio via a single cable. MHL also allows for the same quality of video and audio input, and uses the same physical end-connector, but it's a different technology that uses five wires or pins to transmit high-def video and audio from a device to your TV while at the same time sending power back to the device.

You can use TeamViewer app on your Fire tablet to mirror through PC and mobile. But no capturing audio in TeamViewer, it's only in tablet speaker. You want to using Bluetooth speaker.
Just to contribute, I tried a very cheap and simple looking microUSB to HDMI cable (probably not even MHL, no option to add a power source)
and I can't see any communication between the Fire 7 (5th generation) tablet and my non-smart TV.
Same results when I tried with AmazonOS, and with LineageOS 12.1 recently.
Maybe it would work if there was a way to provide more power to the cable?
However, this cheap cable does not give that option.
And connecting the microUSB part of the cable to the Fire tablet
means that I cannot charge it at the same time.
If I could figure out how to charge the tablet at the same time,
maybe the TV would receive a signal from the cable?
I also tried this cable with my android phone and again, nothing.
Maybe it's the cheap cable. Maybe it's not compatible with anything I own.
My non-smart TV does not seem to have internet capabilities either
but does have USB ports (I have a USB wifi antenna but I doubt the TV has the software to be able to do anything with it).
