Hello to all. I have bought a new SD card for my phone. I have copied (or thought i did) everything from the old SD to the new one and now i see that all of the apps that were installed on the old one are shown as they are located on the new one but they do not work. Their icons are shown with an SD icon on them and when i long press on them the only option that shows is to move them on the home screen. When i press once on them it says that the app is located on the SD but it can't work. Now i am stacked with an app drawer full of inactive icons that i want to remove. Anyone knows how to fix this?
Thank you all

Hi
Thanks for using XDA Assist.
Maybe this post will help
This happens because the apps that disappear are on MicroSD. When booting the phone the launcher starts before the SD card is scanned. so the launcher doesn't sees the apps and thinks they are missing.
So what you have to do is the following, force close the launcher. you can do the following:
settings>Applications>Manage applications>all>Home (launcher) > and press "Force stop"
this will relaunch the SE home and all the apps will be back

using launcherpro plus on a htc desire running on cm6.
everytime i reboot my phone, icons inside folders(i have a Games folder which i put all my games on) would change to the default green droid icon.
its only for the apps that i store on my SD card.
anyone know a fix to this? or is there some setting?
just started on android so not 100% sure, but I noticed that when you reboot the phone it takes a few seconds to mount the sd card even though launcher pro has loaded. Try storing just the icons themselves on the phone memory and when creating the shortcuts select a custom icon, ie the ones from phone memory and you should be sorted.
It will happen everytime you restart. All you have to do is restart launcher pro and your custom icons are back...

if i store icons on phone memory, it works fine. the icons dont change even after reboot. its when i put on SD Card, and then i do a reboot, the icons will change to the standard green/white droid guy.
and the problem is only for icons withing FOLDERS. if i put the apps outside of folders, they wont have this problem even if they're stored on the SD card.
so what you're trying to say is, store them on the phone, then create a shortcut to a custom icon, and put them in the folder, then put them back to SD card? i'll give that i try.

yea that works, i guess ill have to do that each time i reboot then. so whats the best way of doing this.
So far i have launcher pro set as default and eveyrtime i boot up , i go to manager applications > laucher pro > force stop
then it should be restarted. is this the right way of restarting it? it seems to work. i just dunno if theres an easier/simpler way of doing this.

From your homescreen:
* Hit Menu key
* Select Preferences
* Scroll to the bottom of the list
* Select "Restart LauncherPro"
probably has something to do with the memory settings, try playing with it?
Hi there!
I think I discovered a bug, which as I can see occurs also to other none Sensation phones.
When I put a shortcut on the mainscreen, from an app which I installed on the SD-Card, after a reboot or shutdown the app Logo is replaced by the standard Android Logo and I can't start the app via the shortcut anymore. I have to delete it and then place the app again from the app-drawer on the mainscreen to get it work again.
Does someone else experience the same problem?
Cheers
Yeah that's happened to me too.

I've experienced the first part where the android icon is displayed until the contents of the SD card are loaded ... it takes a minute and then the normal app icon is loaded

How many minutes does it take exactly? Because I didn't wait longer than maybe 2 or 3 minutes.
I think I'll send an e-mail to HTC to let them know about this problem.
Cheers

it's a common problem. nothing to worry about.
When android phones first bootup and icon is status bar says sd is preparing, during this time the icon for apps on sd is incorrect, but should be fixed once sd is prepared by OS.
SD card bug
I'm having the same issue, picked up the Sensation yesterday. It doesn't matter how long you wait, the apps never recover. You have to remove the icons from the home screen. Plus apps that use a database stored on the SD will not work continuously, such as Touchdown from Nitrodesk. Other than this highly annoying bug, its a nice phone.
is this a common issue? i know that the OS has to mount the SD card and wait for a bit, but i waited all day and the icons are still screwed up. i had the G2 and had apps on the sd card and they load up fine after a few minutes.
would this be caused by the type/class of sd card? i have a 16gb class 10. the apps load up fine just the icons all look the same

Same here. On my wildfire it changes back to normal. But my sensation doesnt change back.
Have you reported this to TMO and HTC? Any response?
Yep, happens all the time. The recent update didn't resolve it.
There's a workaround however - you don't need to re-create the shortcut or anything, just go to Settings->Applications->Manage->All, scroll to HTC Sense (there would be two, we need the first one with a clock as a logo) and force close it. Press Home, HTC Logo appears, bam! Your icons are back. Highly annoying.

well its not the fone issue nor sd card...its app compatibility issue... most apps were designed for froyo...but now running them on 2.3.3 they waork on sd-card as well but their shortcuts do not identify them after restart coz they do not have exact icon update path...its an appp issue ...till its resolved plz keep apps on fone....do not worry u need to work hard to finish 1 gig by apps....and plz dt ever think apps on fone mk it slower...use advance task killer as well....
im just going to put the apps on the phone instead of sd card...until htc does an update, because when i used the gingerbread custom rom on the g2 it had no problem putting apps on sd card.
yeah happens to me too. Just kill sense to force it to reload and that fixes it ... until the the next reboot
Hey everyone, I was using the Pulse app and had the widget for a few days. The other day my phone kinda froze and rebooted. When it came back on the widget was no longer there. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, but now there is no widget option... Was this some sort of update and they got rid of the widget for now or is something going wrong here? Happen to anyone else? Thanks!
This happened to me when I did not move the Pulse app from the SD card to the phone. That should be all that you need to do. You may need to now reinstall the app if it can no longer be found on your phone. Make sure to reboot your phone after moving the Pulse app to the phone from the SD card.
(Settings, Applications, Manage applications, On SD card, click the Pulse app, click the Move to phone button, reboot the phone.)
Hi everyone,
It seems when I move downloaded apps to my SD card and then restart the phone, their icons show as the default app icon if they are on one of my home panels.
Their icons do show up properly in the app drawer, but thats the only place. Also, this problem only happens after a restart. If i remove them and then put them back on the panels, the icons show up!
Anyone else have this problem? Anyone have a work around?
I have the same issue, I removed the shortcuts and replaced them, but they go back to the generic Android icon after a little while. I have my shortcuts in folders if that makes any difference.
C my post on speed + batt calibration + apps....its explained there

I am not sure of a permanent fix but if you change the scene (long press on an empty bit of a home screen) choose the scene menu and choose a new scene, Then just go back to your original scene. Quicker than recreating your icons...

Are you guys still on GB 2.3.3? I had the same problem before the update to 2.3.4
With 2.3.4, the icons always go back to normal after a few seconds.
Had this strange behaviour too. But after moving the apps to SD you have to remove the icons and put them afterwards back on the home screen. This always worked for me.

Running OTA GB 2.3.4. It happen every time I reboot. Normal icons persist on the homescreen but inside any folder the icon lose their mojo. They work perfectly but have the generic icons. I have had this sporadic issue through multiple ROMs including the OTA. That what I like about the "scene" fix. A few click and you are done without recreating the whole folder. (I have a folder full of games for my kids, about 20 items)
I have searched the threads on XDA and found nothing helpful for a permanent fix. (Perhaps my google-fu is weak?) It seems to happen on a lot of HTC devices. I personally have a DINC but I posted here because it was a nice fix that works on all HTC sense ROMs.
Apparently the official answer is to restart sense: http://androidforums.com/htc-evo-3d/361453-icon-bug-apps2sd-solution-post-47-here.html#post2907016
I have seen threads where this happens with other Launchers as well.
It's because when the phone reboots it has to wait for the SD card. Why are you moving apps anyway? You using more than 1GB of apps?!?!

In my case I currently have a DINC, my data/data is considerably smaller and I have not A2SD+ yet. I just found this thread through a search and added a suggestion that worked for me. 1 GB Data partition for phone storage! Man you guys have a nice piece of kit there.
Hi everybody !
I've recently bought an Xperia E3 (D2203) and I'm very happy with this product (compared to the price) but I'm very disappointed about the "4GB" internal memory because there is 1.7GB in reality...
So I've moved some apps to an SD card (2GB for the moment) but, if I create a shortcut on my launcher, it disappears (randomly) after reboot =/
Is there a solution to fix this issue ? or is it normal ?
Sorry for my english ^^"
If it can help, I resolved the problem.
1.Go to Apps Manager
2.Select your launcher (for me it was "Xperia Home")
3.Delete data
4.Reorganize your home, replace your icons
5.Reboot, it will be fine.
Also, wait a bit after tapping your Pin, don't unlock your screen to fast, to let your device loading all data in SD (because, on my phone by the way, loading external data is slower than loading home)
