My brand new mate 8 is locked to China telecom - Mate 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Purchased off Amazon.
Does anyone know how to unlock?
TIA!!

ouch, well that sucks... whats the model number?
u might have a look at the tool dc-unlocker, aside from unlocking bootloaders i also saw the option to unlock phones for all network carriers. no warranties though...

I bought it on amazon too and it was a DEMO unit. Going back to ebay to find a more reliable seller

demo unit in that is was already used? or restricted functionality?
i can recommend aliexpress guys, go by the user reviews there and ull be safe

I think it's an issue with the vzw SIM. It just doesn't seem to see it. I put in a project fi SIM and it works. I ordered another vzw SIM to see if that helps.
This definitely was not a demo, BNIB and beautiful!

ciao ho acquistato un Mate 8 ali-express e ho preso la fregatura che non funziona la rete 4g/3g con la scheda italiana, sai come posso risolvere il problema?

Both because it was missing the headphones. Worst is everything the screen timeout, phone demo automatically kicks in. I couldnt change the screen timeout setting at all. Also, the demo app was on the phone that i couldnt delete at all. When i disabled the demo app. The phone will never go to sleep and the screen stays on. It was terrible

hm maybe one could manually factory reset the phone and install a fresh rom onto it to properly use it. but yeah, definitely not cool!

did u make sure the mate 8 supports the bands used by your italian provider? also check if u have set the sim card into the right slot (primary vs secondary)

I have the same issue.. couldn't get an ATT sim card to work. Tried putting an unbranded Rom on the phone and I'm still having the same issue.
Everything seems to say my phone is carrier unlocked but it isn't I guess, it's odd whatever sim card I set as the 4G sim card gets stuck in CDMA mode and won't read my ATT sim card.
I paid for the unlock codes from dc but I have no idea where to put them.

there are several guides on the dc-unlocked website:

None of these work.
DC Unlocker SIm Status is "unlocked", still the 4g slot does not work.

mate 8 cl00
same problem. Buying on ali. dc-unlocker says sim unlocked. it may be blocked at the level EEPROM? phone mate 8 CL00

yep yep. i think its best NOT to buy any of the carrier locked versions, even if theyre 30 bucks cheaper they wont do u any good. if u can, return those phones and get urselves either an AL10 or L29 version, theyre both unlocked

I have AL10 and VZW SIM doesn't work

because verizon is a CDMA carrier and the AL10 is a GSM phone

Hello,
It turns out installing proper international firmware (not the one based on Chinese version) fixes the problem with the card slot!

I am Brazilian... i want to buy an US AT&T phone cause of the price that is U$100,00 less than the Unlocked International Version...
(i don´t mind it´s all in english... i can work fine in this language)
So i want to ask something to you, guys, and if you can help would be great!!!As i need to decide it untill next monday!!!
1 - is there a way for me (to myself do it) to unlock the phone? Or maybe is it easy as i can unlock in a brazilian phone shop? If i can unlock in my home... how do i do it?
2 - if i root the phone is there a way to use portuguese language on it?
3 - about battery... would you buy an extra extended general battery (50-60% more) or would u buy 2 or 3 common batteries (1500mah)???
Thank u all!

Oh... sorry... i´d like to get the LG Optimus P920 3D (Thrill)
A friend of mine who would buy the phone to me in US and send by another friend comming to Brazil (WAW! hahaha) told me that Locked AT&T should not work here with my SIM Card. Would happen a lot of limitations. But i read in internet that if i´d unlock the phone it would work fine with all fully functions. So i repeat the questions i did before, now you guys know my phone what it is.

When the phone is unlocked, you should be able to use all the functions.
p.s.: I sent to you PM with idea about unlocking.
When thr phone comes to me i´ll root it for sure. I´ll have a look at your ROM as it has portuguese... hehehe.
But can u tell me if there is a way for me to unlock it myself? Or at least unlock it in brazil? Cause the price of the locked AT&T one is better than the unlocked international version...

There is always a way but $99 is the 2 year contract price. You have to have a contract or they can block the IMEI number.
Good luck with that one.

A friend of mina that uses AT&T will buy just the phone in her name for me... that´s cause it would be 100,00 cheaper than the unlocked version...
But i am really thinking about cause as i can see maybe it´s better pay the 100,00 more and get the unlocked one...
i don´t know about it further but it seams that give the IMEI by internet to others can be no so good for us the owners... is it right or there is no problem about that?

[Q] Desire S - SIMLock question

Hi guys,
I've just got my Desire S - great phone, but there's only one problem. It's locked by Vodafone Romania.
I did a little digging and, as far as I understand, the only way to remove the SIMLock without losing the warranty is to use the HTC codes that can be had for a small fee. I've bought a code, but it doesn't work.
Actually, I bought two codes, both for Desire S, one locked by Vodafone, one by Orange [both in Romania]. The one from Orange was completely painless - insert SIM from other carrier, insert code when requested, party.
The one from Vodafone doesn't work. Since the first one worked fine, I think the guys I bought it from are legit. They told me that, apparently, I'm in the 1% that have carrier-locked phones, so Vodafone did this, not HTC. Obviously, the HTC code [which they gave me] wouldn't work.
Now, the big problem is that Vodafone won't unlock the phone. They say that this service is only available when the contract is up [2 years!?], and not before.
Is there any way to unlock the phone without losing warranty? That means no root-ing, no custom bootloaders or anything...
I just want to use this phone with Orange, way better data plan than Vodafone (
Thanks!
You must ask vodafone or a retrailer i don't know an another way to do that's
Go to the vodafone guys and make a scene over there Trust me, it works.
They are obliged by law to unlock your phone for a fee during your contractual time and free of charge after it's expiration date.
Code of conduit:
http://www.anrcti.ro/Portals/57ad71...5cdb7ee7/Cod conduita deblocare terminale.pdf
"- daca telefonul este achizitionat ca parte dintr-un pachet promotional sau la un pret preferential si clientul solicita deblocarea inainte de expirarea perioadei minime prevazute in contractul de servicii de comunicatii incheiat cu operatorul, clientul va trebui sa achite atat tariful pentru operatiunea de deblocare, cat si suma stabilita ca penalitate pentru deblocarea anticipata a telefonului pe parcursul perioadei minime contractuale."
P.S.: It's strange that they simlocked it. I've got some friends that bought their Desire S & HD from Vodafone (online shop) and the phone came simfree and not branded. I also have bought my Desire S from Orange via the ThankYou program and it's not simlocked..

poti sa imi dai si mie site-ul de unde ai cumparat codul de deblocare pt orange desire s??, eu am cumparat deja doua si nu mi-a mers niciunul, se pare ca e blocat de cei de la orange
You can get onto customer services at vodaphone and tell them you are travelling to some country (check which one doesn't have vodaphone first) that you need to put another sim in and see what they say. I did it with orange once and later they charged me for it but when I queriedthe charge they waived it because they hadn't mentioned there wouldbe a charge...try it

Samsung galaxy s7 double sim

Hello, im new in the world of Samsung, as im comming from the Sony family, and id like to ask something. As older users of double sim mobiles of Samsung, do you recomend the double sim or the single sim edition? Did they have any probleam in the sims and how did they work? In the same time or switch via options? As also the Internet via data how it work? Switch via menu? Thx for your time, and sorry for my questions and my bad english
None? :-/
lets c dual sim or single
I would rather a double sim or a sim with a sd card like the One Plus X. Win-win!
Dual sim phones are very popular in China. Here in USA there is not much need for that. If you plan to cheat on your girlfriend better get second phone so she won't question why you need dual Sim phone; )

You can use FunkyHuawei and flash duo SIM firmware but you'd also need the SIM tray too.
Oh, thanks for the information. Is there any way to get or buy the SIM Tray? Anyone has tested one?

On funkyhuawei there is a different 2 different tools. 1 for converting single SIM to dual sim and 1 for just rebranding. I have not converted to dual SIM myself but I would guess you need to convert to CLT-L29 C432 (European version) dual SIM. @duraaraa might be able to help you more

Yes. You need to use the tool for it too. As the other user said, there are two different tools so use the right one. When you've finished bootloader will be locked again. eRecovery will allow the installation, as it goes through FunkyHuawei's infrastructure instead of Huawei's.

Hi, I have done the transformation from single sim (CLT-L09) to double-sim (CLT-L29) with the FunkyHuawei tools and help.
I came from your same situation. I buyed a P20 Pro from Italian operator and when I arrived at home I discovered that the phone was single-sim !!
Now my phone is double-sim CLT-L29.
But there are 2 problems :
1- Sim tray with dual-sim support it is untraceable. So the only solution it was to contact Huawei assistence and order the original part. But in Italy I was the first to ask for that particular part and it is not available immediately. I have to wait 15 days. So I ordered the dual sim tray from Huawei. The cost of the original part that I ordered is about 7 euros (non so much... I thought worse.).
For your information: I tryed with the double sim-tray of Mate 10 PRO, that seemed the same. I ordered it and It arrived me but sadly there is a little difference. If you insert the sim-tray both sim work very well, but the sim tray exceed of about 1.5 millimeter ! So there is no chance to use it !
2- For now with the new FunkyHuawei firmware you can't root the phone. The root come in the future, but I don't know how much time.
I ordered my dual SIM tray for my P20 from AliExpress with 3-4 US Dollars incl. shipping. Now I'm stuck between using Funky expensive method or the free one, from here in the forum.

Hi Doromax,
on Funky site they wrote it is not possible to do it with emui 8.01 or above (just wrote them), I have CLT-L09 8.1.0.128 (C432) fw installed - emui 8.1.0 Android 8.1.0. Do you remember if you had below version at the time you did the change ? (I'm not interested in rebranding, just dual sim - it's from TIM)
Dual tray just arrived from ebay (I can't paste the link, just look for "OEM Dual SIM MicroSD Card Tray Slot Repair Part for Huawei P20 - Grey / Gold") and it seems perfect.

on Funky site they wrote it is not possible to do it with emui 8.01 or above (just wrote them), I have CLT-L09 8.1.0.128 (C432) fw installed - emui 8.1.0 Android 8.1.0. Do you remember if you had below version at the time you did the change ? (I'm not interested in rebranding, just dual sim - it's from TIM); also i'm not interested at this moment to root it, it is necessary ? (infinitytv doesn't function with rooted phone)
Dual tray just arrived from ebay (I can't paste the link, just look for "OEM Dual SIM MicroSD Card Tray Slot Repair Part for Huawei P20 - Grey / Gold") and it seems perfect.
Regards,

Hi, now you can find the dual-sim tray holder on several china sites. But I'm not sure that P20 and P20 pro have the same one. IP67 is for P20 pro not for P20 (gasket difference maybe?)
When I rebrand my P20 Pro I was on EMUI 8.0.1 and Android 8.0.1 with firmware 8.1.0.106 (C432) model CLT-L09.
Funky site say that for P20 series the old tools don't run!
They write me that the tool for single to dual was not alredy made for P20 series (was april, 6) but about 2 days after they write me to download the right tool. I used that tool flawlessly.
You find it on funky site.

Hi, i'm wondering if you had any issues after converting to dual sim? Since the single SIM only have 1 IMEI, can it work at the same time with 2 sim cards?
Thank you!

Yes, sure!
One IMEI can work with 2 sim of 2 different operators. Also both in 4G.
No problem at all for me.
Also I recive the OTA directly from Huawei.
Now I'm on firmware 8.0.1.120 (C432)

I did some steps, thanks to Funky support that helps so much (problem is the time zone +9)
now i'm at the erecovery step, where I must address DNS to Funky ones and my TIM Router do not permit. I'm trying to use dhcp server for windows using another wifi connection. At the same time, and I don't know if it is important right now, the phone is not recognized by windows as USB composite device, but I can' find any compatible driver. I'm here with three pc's....from 12 hours

Try to install HiSuite by Huawei and updaye it to last version. In developer option tap on operator unlock and debug usb and than Windows ask you to confirm an esadecimal code! You must have your phone see by windows.

Thanks Doromax, magically the network starts and the installation proceed (now complete, with dual sim?)
Funky said at that phase you need only to be under charge, USB is not relevant.
Thanks to all for help
Hy there, how much cost you to activate dulal sim?
Tested tray from l29 to l09 its not working. Dual sim settings wil not appear.
What is strange is that Vodafone Romania says that huawei stopped producing dual sim p20 pro.
Or maybe an operator lie....

They are wrong - ALL Huawei phones as far as I am aware are now in fact built with hardware for Dual SIM - they just disable it with the software for certain markets and give a single SIM tray. I did the same on my P10 Plus and it worked perfectly as well with Dual SIM.
The only official Dual SIM Huawei supplier in the UK is Three UK at present. I am not sure about the rest of Europe.
