A little frustrated.... - General Questions and Answers

Hello, I just registered because it told me i had to to post the guest post that i had typed and submitted. If it wasnt a guest post option i wouldnt even went through with answering the question i was answering. So I registered just because i didnt want to feel like i wasted my time trying to explain something and help someone out, anyways i registered from the post preview page, figuring it would post it... well it didnt, so instead of explaining in detail like i did im explaining how inconvenient it was and possibly suggest removing the guest post option as to not frustrate others trying to contribute.
Anyways, instead of explaining it all again ill give the cleft notes:
ampsvc.android is directly related to wildgames/Wild Tangent..
look in your license agreements for ampsvc.android and follow the rabbit hole like i did for more answers.
Good luck and thanks for having me

Set phone to automatic profile programatically

Hi,
Does anyone know how to set the phone sound profile to automatic, through native or manged code, or whatever?
I know this is vendor specific, but I am assuming that HTC devices have a standard dll that exposes this functionality (pls let me know otherwise)
Thanks
-CU
this has been asked more than 10 times.
G-Profile
Hi Thanks for the response.
But I am actually looking for pointers with regard to how to implement this functionality in Code, I still havent found that through all the searching I have done. If you have seen another post regarding this, I would really appreciate the link.
Secondly, I actually checked out GProfile, regardng setting the sound profile, from what I saw it can do Normal, Vibration and Muted, but i couldnt find an option to set the phone back to automatic.
Thanks,
Appreciate any help.

oh oh sorry...
well.. first of all, you can post this question, with a good explanation of what you want to do in the Development and Hacking section (there goes all questions about development)... secondly, you can contact ageye for tips on profile programming. he knows it all
Hi Nir,
I actually did that, but I was asked to post to the Questions and Answers forum, and the post got closed.
see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=515893
Shall I repost it in the Development & Hacking section?
Thanks,
-CU

A question for the Moderators and Senior Members.

I am here and I was wondering where I was suppose to post tutorials in the Xoom Section. I was thinking about making some New Xoom User tutorials with screenshots, and if I am to find a good screen recorder app too, some videos, of basic questions as well as operation of the tablet. I would like to make sure I post it in the correct forum before I continue on with it as well as make sure someone has not already done an extensive overview of the actual operations like I am wanting to start here. I hope that I can start this up soon (well I am working on the posts now in word doc, but I am meaning by posting it up...)
Thank you for your time and thank you in advance for the help with this idea

Just a thought...you could post in general...if related to rooting it could be added to diablo2224's. Rooting thread, otherwise create your own. I hope you do some tutorials...do you know what you'd like to cover?
I was thinking about the little small things like "how to get to settings" and "explaining your questions for help" and so on. and then when i get a feel for how people react to them, maybe deeper into programming, rooting troubleshooting, and other stuff
Thanks for the encouragement okantomi! I will keep things updated on my sig and profile page!!

I think that "how to get to settings" is a little basic, but I definitely think we need more tutorials on how to make the most of the Xoom (and Honeycomb in general) so have at it.
If you make videos "how to"s, I would create a single post in General and post links to all of them there. If they are just written guides, I would make a new post in General for each one.

I was thinking about making on big tutorial in on general location for all the links, kind of like the index of a book, and then you click the link and it goes to the forum post about that said link. I might have to do this on another page like a personal website but i really do not want to do that so i am looking into alternative ways. I was thinking too about making the videos a playlist and use youtube and maybe add a few Here's why and commentaries to the list. I have a whole list of ideas and I am hoping to get started (as in posting it up) soon! cause i use google docs, I can write on my phone when away and have an idea... so this should be interesting Also looking into screen recording material for ON the Xoom cause i do not want to be doing DDMS all the time for ever single frame that i need... if i had a video recorder it would be nicer ... but i will get to that when i cross that bridge! I will keep everyone updated on the tutorials when they get posted... I will if it suits people, us this as a "to go" point and just change the title, or make a new thread for the index.... Here we GO!
also! thank you for the words of encouragement and advice rschenck!

If you wish to see an example of one approach to this sort of idea, we have been building a community wiki for CyanogenMod 7 on the SGS and created a How To section. Of course this is a group effort as opposed to a single member, but the idea is much the same.
http://sgscm7nightlies.pbworks.com/w/page/41716809/i9000 How-To´s
awesome to hear onn the cyanogen mod but I want to keep it as close to stock as possible... like right now I have super user but I have not changed the rom at all I'll look at the how to that you linked me to and I will study it and see what advice to writing a tutorial it will give me :-D
Keep you updated and thanks again!

Activation Error???

so basically every forum i try to post in except this one and general it tells me i'm not aloud to post because my account is awaiting activation...if i couldn't post in ANY thread i'd understand that, but why would it let me post in q&a and general just nowhere else?
Does that maybe have to do with the 10 post threshold or is this something differant since it's saying awaiting activation? I got to thinking after realizing there's a 10 post threshold, but i don't think it would make my account await activation though, expecially considering i had to email the site to have them setup my account for me because the account creation wouldn't work for me for some reason. They emailed back with my user id and a temp password saying the account was setup and ready for us, so i'm wondering if there's maybe some weird error on my account causing this?
Yes, you need to reach a certain amount of post (not sure now many), before write in the developers section.
ok thank you, i guess that would explain it then

For noobs and/or lazy pros

If you've clicked on this you'll realize that I don't really post....know why? Must be from the unfortunate fact that I can find answers to any problem I may encounter WITHOUT posting. I've been a 'viewer' long before I registered. (Side note: I greatly appreciate the fact that a non-member may troll these threads. Thank you.) Enough about me..let's get to it. This will mostly be links so bear with me, even more so than you already have. Ok, phreaks! For the noobs having difficulty understanding ADB either learn how to properly use Linux http://www.xda-developers.com/android/learn-to-use-linux-for-mobile-development-redirection-and-manipulation-xda-tv/ or try EasyADB for Microsoft. Requires .NET Framework V4. Works well for lazy pros as well if you're tired of typing the same old same old. Get it here---> http://www.softpedia.com/get/Mobile-Phone-Tools/Others/Easy-ADB.shtml Or, check out this post---> http://www.xda-developers.com/xda-tv-2/pro-tip-number-4-installing-applications-using-adb-xda-tv/ Or this---> http://www.xda-developers.com/android/adb-fileexplorer-frees-you-from-adb-tedium/ If you're already using Linux and know what's going on, here's a refresher---> http://www.xda-developers.com/android/right-click-android-tools-for-ubuntu/ For MAC users check out http://www.xda-developers.com/android/easily-set-up-adb-and-fastboot-on-a-mac/ & to 'auto root' on a MAC look here---> http://www.xda-developers.com/android/breakdroid-automated-rooting-tool-and-adb-installer-for-mac/ If you haven't been here -> http://developer.android.com/tools/help/adb.html you remember more than the average bear ever could. See what searching instead of posting could net you? I thought I'd throw together a small one stop shop after seeing random questions around some boards. took me all of TWO MINUTES to look for, then copy/paste links. Simple. 2600Hz Whistle, 'nuff said... Also, WTF doesn't every PS3 come pre-installed with Ubuntu or Xubuntu? Quandary.

Tasker help

Hello, guys!
Sorry for posting this here, but I couldn't post in any other category, so here I am.
Anyway, so to give you a little bit of context, I found this app Autoresponder for WA or something, and I found it pretty interesting ( I know that it's main concept is that it is based on the notifications and it takes it's arguments from there ), and I need to create a rule that when someone says like "!countdown" it shows the time left until a specific deadline. And then I found out about tasker. And since then I've been spending hours over hours trying to understand something, but it's pretty ambigous to me.
So, can anyone give me a hand? At least to get started? Or can this even be achieved? ( P.S: I want to make it for a group chat )
Thank you in advance ^^
