Yup! Download the app called Phone Warrior, Not only will it tell you who is calling, it auto blocks spam calls, and you can flag new ones that have not been by the users yet. Its crowd-based and kickass.

Truecall can do this as well. Needs a data connection for real-time identifying of incoming calls, but that's to be expected

Save company name in the suffix.
It's puts a comma between the full name and the company name in your contact list and for phone calls

App named caller informer was doing this. Show any info from your contacts card.
It doesn't work with new Android versions.
Is there any other app can do this?

This app works. Can show any info from address book and even can add notes.

App to show contact name in SMS [Request]

Hi,
Anybody knows of an app to show the contact name in a text message instead of a mobile number? For example the 'Who Called' service from T-mobile (http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/services/call-options/who-called/) will send you a text message of the phone number(s) that called while the phone was switched off.
I receive such messages with phone numbers and have to actually try to call the number to figure out the contact (if it exists).
Thanks,
-Gus

Are you saying your stock messaging app doesn't automatically link your contact name?
I've used both the stock messaging app and ChompSMS and both of them display the person's name that the number is associated with in my contacts list (and shows their picture if I have one set for them).

I think what he's saying is that the text message is being sent from T-Mobile in every case and the content of the message is a telephone number. Although he is sent the number of the person that called he does not know which contact the number is linked to and the only way to find out is to call that number and see what contact name shows up in the call log. It basically sounds like he wants a way to look up a contact by phone number.

That's the part I'm confused about. The SMS app already shows the name, and if you long click on them you can call that person directly or view their contact details...
So even if only a number showed up, he should be able to just long press on it and then get to the contact details and see who it is.
The OP mentions the phone being OFF.

Yes that is exactly it. Its not the name of the sender of the message. Its a number in a text message of someone (it can be more than one number) who called me while my phone was switched off for any reason.
Thanks,

I use Hullomail. It replaces your network voicemail service and it's 'free'. Also it will send you a email with the number or name of the caller but you would need to give the app service access to your Gmail contacts for that.
They also have an app in the market to access all your voicemails.
Features:
* Receive and play voice-emails directly in your inbox, mobile and the web
* Get notified of any missed call, even in areas with no mobile reception
* Take control of your voice-emails – it’s up to you, not the operator
* Share, delete and keep your voice-emails forever, within a click
* See who’s calling you instantly from your email contacts
* Access, view, and manage your voice-emails, all from one place
* Use the 'send a Hullo' feature, which allows you to record and send short messages to your friends for FREE *

Wildcard in caller ID

Is it possible to have wildcard in caller ID?
The questions is, our company has around 100 outgoing lines, all of them look like this: +1(321)123-45xx, the xx means any number from 00~99. Whenever anyone call out from inside company, the PBX system will call out using anyone of available numbers within the range.
So, on the cell phone side, I want to match all above 100 numbers to my company's name (by add it in Contact), that means no matter which number people calling from our company, the Caller ID screen always display our Company name, instead of the number only.
Of course I could enter all those 100 numbers into several Contact entries, all of them with my company name, however, my clients' companies also use same technique, and it's not practical to create multiple contact entries for multiple companies!
Thus, is it possible to introduce some "Wildcard" into the caller ID mechanism? like +1(321)123-45** in the phone entry, then anything number from this range of number will display the same name?
Is there a program or setting for Android?
Thanks in advance!
Not sure of any native way, but you can see if a phonebook app will let you do it. There is an app called phonebook 2.0 which is kinda nice, not sure if it allows it though. This is a good idea for an app though, it could intercept calls and feed it to the incoming call screen, might delay you receiving calls, however.
still no news on this?
I'm very interested in this topic, especially because I am getting quite a few ad-calls from similar numbers.
I am surprised this is not implemented yet.
I am also interested in this. I have been searching around the internet for a solution but I haven't found any solution. Anyone figure out how to add a range of phone numbers to a single contact without having to add every number manually?
Very good idea. Someone solved it?

I used it once to initiate a conference call. It worked for setting up the call but the sound quality was pretty terrible. All of the participants on my call were within the United States, so I don't know how it works internationally.

well ,I have used this app a couple of times recently. For a free calling app Its pretty good only if u wanna compromisehttp://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/frown.gif with the sound quality and limitation of 1 hour. I mainly use it to call overseas frnds which is quite costly if ur using a standard cellular device. http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/mad.gif The main advantage I enjoyed is that U dont need any other client software for the clients ,http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/good.gif .Just cell number is enough. Regarding the info they collect , I am not sure about that. Haven't faced any issues regarding that.
still ,good enough app if u ask me! http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/cowboy.gif

[APP] Calls Blocker

Are you tired of that heavy that call you twenty times each day? ::
HOW IT WORKS
With this app you can block incoming calls for:
* Hidden numbers
* Phone numbers (match start of the number, end of the number or complete number)
* All numbers from a contact
You can enter the blocked numbers manually, from the contacts list or from the calls log.
The app support several working modes:
* Accept all incoming calls
* Reject all incoming calls
* Block the numbers/contacts that are added to the list (blacklist)
* Accept only incoming calls from the numbers/contacts that are added to the list (whitelist)
Note that the app is started when the call is received. Due to that, is possible that the system starts the incoming call ringtone before the app ends it. If that occurs, please, create a ringtone with 1-2 seconds of silence and use it.
Also, the app can show the list of rejected calls and much more...

Thank you for the app!! I am getting a Registration key is not valid message however.
EDIT: mia culpa....seems like my copy didnt get the entire thing
Hidden Numbers
May seem like a dumb question but just wondering if the blocking of hidden numbers is "all hidden numbers" or a hidden number recognized by the app after you have received and blocked it?
it works

Tried, key works! Quite confusing with "1" and "l"...
Thanks, bought it, can't stand ads.
Working very good so far , Using Galaxy S5 Duos and working great for both SIM , no ringing is heared while calling just direct busy which is very good since other applications gives a tiny normal calling tone then busy
will support by buying the app , please keep it good and updated
showing numbers by name while picking it from the call log or while checking the blocked call list instead of just the number will be good
ability to hide app icon from app drawer will be good addition also
auto add a number to blacklist if user canceled it for xx times ( if possible to do this feature )
app icon needs another color and a little bit more pro touch for the design
thanks for this great app :good: hoping that it will always working good

Hidden numbers refers to calls that are not providing the from number.
In spanish are "número oculto" and I have translated directly. Please, let me know if in english has other name.
Hey are you the dev for "root call blocker" ?
Hi, couldn't really test the app yet, since I can't add phone numbers from contacts to Whitelist. I always get the message "None of your contacts has a phone number".
Using Galaxy Note 4 with 4.4.4.
P.S.: Also missing a translation when using "Picking a number" - the three options regarding the whole number or only a part of the number are in Spanish.

Are your contacts synced with Google? I'm using the immutable id of the contacts in order to allow backup/restore operations (not jet implemented).
No, I'm not synching contacts with Google (would make to much mess in my phone due to number of google contacts )). My contacts are only stored locally (in the phone) and a copy of them on SIM card. So there is no solution for this (yet ) unless I sync with Google?
Cool no worries just making sure, dont want him to have any of my money.
Will have a look thanks mate

Can you please add the function to block groups?
I have a group for business and want to add the entire group in the holidays.
@bartito or anyone else used the app - I have a question
What is the blocking method of this app?
Blocks the call at system level. No ringtone or screen wake
Rings for few seconds & then the app rejects it

Hello, I got exactly the same issue as your!!
I also got a phone from Hong Kong, so Hong Kong Samsung version, plus most of my contact are saved with inficatif, for messaging app like WhatsApp.
As you described the issue, if any local phone call me, it only display the phone number, not the name of the contact, while the name and the number being saved in Contact app.
I tried to remove the indicatif of a contact and save it as it, this time the name is shown when I get a called, but in messaging app like WhatsApp, this test contact got no more name, only the number is shown in front of its chat. Any additional solution since ??
Thx
