Rooted LF Vortex VS660 - General Questions and Answers

I have a old lg vortex and I just wanted to use it as a remote for streaming music . I rooted it with gingerbreak and then installed root app delete. I guess I let the power go to my head and got over ambitious in deleting now I get a continuous error message " The application Dialer ( process com.android phone) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. To make the matters worse I thought a factory reset would fix but it didn't. When I ran app delete I did had the files just hidden but the factory reset deleted that app.
My computer no longer sees the phone tried on both windows and Linux. Any suggestions would be helpful

[q] htc hero failure!!!

I am by no means a computer or phone guru...just curious about things. Apparently i got a little to careless with my curiosity. I have rooted my phone using z4 and started to delete files I thought i did not need. At first I couldn't download anything from the market so I unrooted the phone and then reset it. I then got the message SORRY! The appication HTC Sense(process com.htc.launcher) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. I have factory reset the phone, cleared the sense data in settings that was able to get to...but nothing changes. Can anyone help me with this problem?
it seems your home launcher program (sense) is the problem. try signing into your gmail and going to market.android.com on ur computer. then search for luancher pro, and click install. then once it installed on your phone, click the home buttom, and then check off "select as default" and then click launcher pro. hope this helps!
Or just re-flash the rom.. Don't delete data partition and you should be fine with all your personal settings kept when you re-flash.

[Q] Accidently deleted the launcher on 2.2

I accidentally deleted my launcher application while messing around in Titanium backup. My phone was getting hung up on the Samsung boot screen when I tried to restart it. I have now tried a factory reset, and the phone now boots to a black screen, I can receive calls and texts but can't access anything manually. I tried installing from the web market but that is not working. Does anyone have any suggestions? Much appreciated....I am desperate.
Edit: Also I can't mount my phone for some reason x_x

If you do a hard reset, you can restore the whole system. Deleting the launcher while booted in Android won't delete anything from the ROM and can be restored that way. But if you don't mind using a different launcher, you can load an apk of your desired launcher on the card and then find a way to get into any screen that will let you get to a file manager. Then you can install the launcher from the apk you loaded on the card. Mess around with the buttons and see if you can't pull up any screen that will eventually get to a file manager.

I did a hard reset, but now it has the same problem - no launcher. It is just a black screen. I played around with it for a long while before coming here trying to figure out any way to get into any menus etc...but nothing.
If you had your device in debugging mode, then you can always download an alternative launcher such as launcherpro on your computer, put it in your platform tools directory and install it through adb. If you need further help with this post your comments and I will read them later and reply.

P.s. if this helped press the thanks button
hard reset doesn't fix apps in system partition, so you can't restore without adb to push a new launcher.

What process did you use to "hard reset"? And which phone do you have?

Is the phone rooted?
Do you have a custom kernel with CWM recovery?
If you do, you should be able to install the launcher using cwm.
There's a specific forum for your phone in XDA. You might find answers there to.
Had same problem, now fixed
Although I have a g2x and I'm running a 2.3.4 rom, this should still work. I did the same exact thing to my phone. I had my wife send me an email (gmail) with a link to google in it. When I recieved the notification, I swiped down, opened email, clicked link, then searched "Go Launcher EX apk download". Once I found a good download for this launcher and downloaded it, I was good to use my phone again. Piece of cake

Hey i'm a noobie but i have a 100% way on how to fix your problem i was once too in that situation and all i did was enter recovery mode (no cwm/twrp) factory reset 2x, clear cache 2x and "Rebooted" When i was in setup wizard it asked me to set up my gmail account. Wifi is recommended but 3G/4G is also fine. If on wifi it will not connect to google servers but instead give you the option to connect to wifi. Connect to your wifi and finish the setup. When your at the black screen you should get a notification for updates on the play store. Tap on it and it SHOULD take you to the play store. After that search the desired launcher you want. (ADW Launcher, LauncherPro, Go Locker etc.

[Q] Google Talk Authentication Failed

I'm getting the google talk authentication failed error on my phone and I can't seem to resolve it, google talk works fine on my desk top. I've tried going into flight mode and using wifi to log into google talk that didn't help. This is preventing me from downloading apps, how do I fix it? I've also tried a factory reset, a full unbrick, nothing fixes it.
that's really weird because this JUST happened to me today. SO FRUSTRATING! I did a factory restore/data wipe and that fixed it. Try that.
Are you fixed?

I'm having this problem too, followed GTG's unbrick guide to set it back to factory and, getting emails, txt, and phone calls. web works too. connected to wifi, but getting the authentication failed notice and cannot download anything from the market.
Go into tge stock recovery after you use unbrick. Do that by holding both volume keys down then press the power button. After that, wipe cache and user data.

Perform a factory data reset and you'll be good. Same thing happened to me.
It wont let me install the app you suggested.

Just go into cwm and wipe data and cache or try formating the sd card

I just stumbled across this thread because I was getting the same error on a Mytouch 3G slide and I found a way to fix it. all I had to do was force the phone to authenticate thru wifi and not the cell network once, then I was able to authenticate successfully the regular way after that. the way I did it on my phone was to remove the sim, but on a CDMA phone like yours you could try to activate airplane mode (settings>Wireless & networks), then turn on wifi and connect to a working wifi connection, log into the google talk app, then disable airplane mode.

Worked perfectly for me. All pending downloads started.
Factory reset your phone. If you search Google and type in Google talk not authenticating it will bring up tones of fixes most the same but the work.

How I fixed this on a rooted Droid X (should work for most Android phones)
Again, must be rooted
Rename /data/system/accounts.db to /data/system/accounts.db.bak
Soft Reset phone
Go to Settings -> Accounts
Backup Assistant took a few seconds to appear on my phone
Click on Add Account
Add the Google account that is failing to authenticate
After going through all of the add account screens, go back and rename the /data/system/accounts.db to /data/system/accounts.db.reset (or possibly just remove the file)
Rename /data/system/accounts.db.bak to /data/system/accounts.db
Soft Reset the phone again
If you go to Settings ->Accounts after the reset, wait about 10+ seconds for the accounts that you previously had to show.
The only way to "fix" google talk authentication failure is to do a factory reset from the phone...not cwm...this happens often with gtg unbrick with odin...if u use odin to go to stock dont use the pit..just pda and phone and you wont have this prob...theres a prob with the pit for some reason...

After cloning a samsung gio s5660 through a CWM backup I started experiencing the same issue. Heres What REALLY happens.
Google authenticates you in their services trought unique "keys" which are automatically generated upon system installation / factory reset, so if you clone your device or install a rom which has these "keys" pre-installed, obviously, your rom will only autheticate you in google servers if your phone is the only one using the service at that given time... Upon failure, your phone assumes to be the one who's wrong, and google servers won't autheticate you until you either tell your phone he is not wrong (by deleting the data from play store, which resets its status and errors) or you change the "keys". SO, what can we learn from this? deleting the play store data IS a temporary solution, and won't solve a thing. Let's delete the duplicated keys shall we?
Navigate with your favourite folder explorer on your android (I use X-plore, you can tell me anything, there's nothing better) to the following directory:
- "(root)/data/data/com.google.android.gsf"
Now you have two real options, either you may delete the all folder, which was the perfect solution for me, since my rom is prepared to re-create it upon phone restart and new keys will be generated, OR, you might want to just delete the contents of app_sslcache inside com.google.android.gsf whish are THE KEYS I HAVE BEEN TALKING ABOUT THIS ALL TIME, YEEEIHHHH and reboot your phone...
Needless to say, take a nandroid backup before you do any of this...
Thank me later
For those who remember me from symbian s60v3 phones, yes, it is me, I'm back, and I've moved to the droid world, it's much better indeed
Ps. Moderators, please test this out, I've done it countless times, or else I wouldn't be wasting my time writting this, and make this the "Clonning" for cwm and Google talk authentication error solution, if you will thank you for your time reading my post, regards---
THANK YOU!

[Q] lg p925 missing LGHome apk

The other day I did one really dumb taboo thing everyone knows not to do. I was messing with my phone at 1:30 am doing stupid unproductive things. and then bam, I deleted LG Home. without this I can't go to the homescreen. I backed the apk up but I don't know where to access this. using root unistaller.
Somehow by going to the factory reset screen I managed to make it possible for me to boot the phone back up, only still there is no home screen. I can use google voice to make calls and send texts and emails. But I have no app folder or settings and I am quite a noob.
could Someone either tell me how to reinstall LG Home or get a rom that works back onto my phone. Any solution would be great.

well I have the P925g, my brother has the same model. I was thinking I could simply copy the files from his phone into the appropriate folder. Would anyone be able to tell me where I could copy these files from/to? If i could do this I'm sure it would work.

If you're rooted
Sent from my CM7 Thrill
Well I'm not to sure If it is rooted anymore. I erased all my user data, but I did not factory reset. I'll be checking later if i can access those files. But I'll have to access them via USB connection to my computer. My brothers phone where I'll copy the files from is not rooted so I'm not sure if I can copy them from him or not. I'm going to see what more I can do for my phone tommorow. I hate when this happens. The last time I bricked my phone I couldn't even get to the factory reset screen.
Now that I can get to the factory reset screen I don't even see much use in it because the factory reset option doesn't work like I would have expected. If you can even factory reset through that screen is a mystery to me because I could not get it to work. Every time I tried to initiate factory reset it just went back in the menu and no other button seamed to initiate factory reset. I feel like I'm over looking a lot of options here that I just wouldn't think of trying because of my lack of knowledge here.
I'm very dissapointed in myself and in LG right now.
So I,ve found that I already have the lghome.apk backed up on my phone. but as I cannot go to the homescreen or view files and folders on my phone I'm wondering how I will even launch the apk.
I can still use google voice commands to to other tasks like read emails. is there a way I can access my file system or the market through this?
NVM I checked I don't think it's possible. I cannot use the apk to reinstall the apk because I do not have a home screen or any apps that could open this. even my settings aren't working. and clockwork mod only bricked my phone. so i cannot install rom manager and did not.

If you can get into settings, enable USB Debugging Mode.
Then upload LGHome.apk to the forums.
If you could access your emails then you have data connectivity. Why not open market.android.com on your pc log into your google account and install some launcher through it...
Where is the problem to flash this file through cmd ?

Hy. My name is Steven. Yesterday i bought an Lg L Fino d290. I rooted it with purpledrake and i installed Titanium Backup. I restored some backups from my old phone (an Chinese one : Colorovo City Tone Vision). I restored Contact storage, Phone storage and some other apps. After I rebooted the phone an error pops up "Unfortunately the process com.android.phone has stopped". I tapped on "ok" and imediately it apeared again. I pressed ok again and still apeared again and again. I freaked out and i realised what I've done.. Then i delelted all app chache and rebooted the phone. Nthing changed. I entered in stock recovery mode ( i can't install cwm on my phone) and i whiped all data and cache. I rebooted the phone and nothing changed. The error dialogue is still there. I tryed to install Titanium Backup again to see what i can do but it didn't work because the error message poped up contiously. Even if i install the app from Magazine Play or from an apk file it doesn;t work. i have adb connection but not many commands are working. for example install.. I don't know what to do.. the phone keep showing me the error with and without the sim card. I can open the phone app and the contacts but i can't open the message app. Please help me. What shoul I do? I knnow i dit something wrong..
Hi,
Yes, installing system files from a different devices is not a good idea. It is almost guaranteed you will have bad issues.
Unfortunately I can't find anything relevant on XDA for your device, other than trying LG's site for your exact devices firmware. And flashing instructions.
If you have trouble or future questions/issues, This is where to ask for help with that device,
> Android Development and Hacking > Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Good luck!
