I have the same problem after starting the desktop and the icons bar on the botton, the device show the keyboard but I'm not able to move the cursor with the stylus.
please note that the device shows me only part of the keyboard, seem like that the resolution is wrong.
During the startup the font changes size. can be related to the wrong resolution??
No actions can be done with the sistem.
thanks and let me know if more information is need
This thread made me come up with a new prefix for these threads.
[LNX]
So put [LNX] in threads for Non Android Linux builds. So users can easily identify or search for specific threads.
Spread the word mate
With /dev/input/event3 it works well.
AmiPro wrote a new detection script for touchscreen.
Now Rhobuntu works on HTC ELF.
yo.. you know what is Elfin device code? i got to edit the startup.txt to make this LXDE runs on it. thanks!
Could you post your startup.txt?
Download for new init-script: http://rhobuntu.googlecode.com/files/init
Hello excuse, you could tell me how to replace the init file? I tried to follow the explanation at the beginning of the post, but I could not mount the file ubuntu.img, in any way. I tried with a live ubuntu, but it did not work. I tried to mount the. IMG file with magic disc but can not mount it. I guess not enough to replace the init file in the destination folder? I tried but during boot change the resolution, and the screen remains fixed on a keyboard in the middle where you can not interact. As was the case before ... Could you explain in detail how to replace the init file, or at least to run on the touch rhobuntu elf?If you want to write me a pm. Thanks
P.s. sorry for my bad English

Download Ubuntu LiveCD
http://www.ubuntu.com/
Run liveCD
- copy Ubuntu.img to the root of your harddisk (c:\ for example)
- open terminal
- open folder of Ubuntu.img (cd /media )
- mount Ubuntu.img ( sudo mount -o loop Ubuntu.img /mnt )
- run: sudo nautilus (FileManager)
- select "show hidden files"
- copy new init to /mnt
- close nautilus
- maybe you have to end the nautilus task in terminal with CTRL+C
- umount Ubuntu.img ( sudo umount /mnt )
- copy new init to /mnt
Thank you soo much!!!! Now Rhobuntu run well on my elf!!!!

did you replaced the init file?
Thanks buddy, I managed to get it installed. Mistake was mine, I copied Ubuntu.img file in ubuntu directory. as i moved it out on storage card root, it got installed.
But after installation there was a big key board on screen which i managed to drage down with stylus. but what I feel is the resolution need to be changes as it is showing everything so big.
Also, I tried to make a call to this device, we get ring at device from which I was calling, but there was nothing on the device on which I install rhobuntu. also I could not make a call from here. Can you help me in these cases.
Found something while starting rhobuntu, you may be interested to know.
While starting rhobuntu from haret.exe at one point it shows starting ophono daemon something, where it says can't create signal descriptor file. is it helpful to resolve this issue?
Gourav
Hi,
Got installed the Rhobuntu can access it. Facing two issues on it as follows;
1. Phone function not working as ofono daemon says - can not create signal filedescriptor: Function not implemented
2. Resolution are not as per device.
Please anybody help me to get all this working.

Hi folks.
I have an unusual smartphone from a Brazilian manufacturer, CCE, who have been bought for Lenovo.
This manufacturer are not exactly knowed for their support our product quality and I'm prety sure my device will not be updated or suported for any longer.
It's the SK504 and I want to try to customize the rom, build tunning apps (battery consumption sucks) and things like that. I have a good programming backgroung but not for mobile devices so I'm stepping on eggs for now.
The first thing I tried to do was get a backup from my actual rom so if I mess with something I shouldn't I would be able to come back to a working version through fastboot.
long story short, I managed to obtain through romdump 5 files; checksum.md5, config.gz, system.info.gz and system.tar
but, in the posts I been reading, it gives me the idea that I should get a boot.img, a recovery.img and a system.tar.gz
And with this I would be able to generate my own system.img through a different process.
Since I'm not being able to find what I did wrong, can anyone tell me if there are a different way to get those boot.img and recovery.img?
I tried the "adb backup -f boot.img boot" but it generates a 1kb .img file and I don't believe this is a valid boot.img.

Instead of making a backup, have you tried to find original restore image? Usually it is a an .IMG file.

I used Root Explorer to look for both, recovery.img and *.img.
No result.
try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2450045
I have a rooted Galaxy S2 mini.
I tried to write a script within the device using the scriptmanager.
But I can not use the console.
I had a look into the init.rc and saw that the console is disabled, although the device is rooted.
Unfortunately I can't edit this file within the device.
To fix the problem I downloaded the init.rc using ADB and edit the file external.
But the downloaded file has only size of 3k, while the original file has a size of 20k.
What can be the reason ?

Onto your problem, though.
init.rc is in two places - in the / directory of your device, and inside of uRamdisk. To edit the file, you have to pull uRamdisk, decompile it, edit init.rc using a good text editor (like Notepad++), recompile uRamdisk with the new init.rc, and then push the new uRamdisk back to your device.
Full instructions can be found here. I know that the instructions are for the Nook Touch, but you can use the "uRamdisk" and "init.rc" parts to help you along your modding journey.
Hope this helps!

Yes, of course
Thank you for your quick reply !
I was always kinda annoyed by the not matching boot logo. After the loader I could change the logo to the car manufacturer but the first seconds still showed "On vehicle navigation system". After installing the Malasyk 8.0 ROM I recognized a different boot logo. So a change was possible. After some playing around with various ROM tools I was able to change the logo (sorry, I don't remember the exact steps). After switching to the HAL9k ROM, the changed logo was gone. The old method didn't work with HAL as the boot loader with the logo was part of the signed update.zip and changing the logo of course breaks the signature.
So I played round with dumping various partitions and check for the logo. There is a way to change it:
NOTE: The slightest mistake in one of the steps WILL brick your device!!!
1. Dump the bootloader partition
2. Find the logo in the dump
3. Replace the logo in the dump
4. Write the new bootloader parition
In general it is a good idea to connect to the device using adb on your PC as typing on the on-screen-keyboard is error prone. dd commands have to be executed as root.
1a. dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk2p4 of=/storage/ext_sd/mmcblk2p4.bin
Note: Depending on your ROM or device the partition might be different. So if you don't find the logo there, try other partitions. Also adapt the of argument. I wrote the file to the "Music" SD card.
1b. Write down the file size. In my case it was exactly 16MB.
2a. Search the dump file for the string "BM6". I used HxD and found it atoffset F800.
2b. Dump everything starting as this offset to a new file and name it with the extension BMP.
2c. Open it with your favorite viewer (I use IrfanView) and check if it is the correct logo.
2d. Check the resolution. In case of the HAL9k 3.1 ROM it should be 800x480x24, for Malasky it was 1024x600x24
2e. Save the file there to a different name.
2f. Check the new file size. In case of the HAL9k 3.1 ROM it should be 1152054 bytes
3a. Create a logo of your choice with exact the same resolution.
3b. Check the file size. It must be identical to the one of the dumped BMP
3c. Replace the data in the compete dump. Make sure, you use the correct offset and use replace, not insert.
3d. Save the new dump and compare the file size. It must not be changed!
4a. Copy the file back on the SD card
4b. Write it back: dd of=/dev/block/mmcblk2p4 if=/storage/ext_sd/mmcblk2p4.bin
Note: if and of is now switched!
4c. Reboot
Just did mine in Hal9k rom.Thank you

Hi,
just a thought of safety..
is it not better that you change that -boot- logo for all cars so that "everybody" can choose his car logo, instead or to prevent that men would make some a mistake which wouldl brick his headunit?

Thanks for this!
In my case, it was mmcblk2p7.
At first, I had a black screen, but file size and resolution was correct.
Somehow, I managed to boot the device again and then I tried another picture and it worked.
I don't know the difference between my first and second try...but I'm lucky that my device isn't bricked.
Maybe we find a safer way for this...

Well, I'm new since 2009
Thx...it's a great forum with great people!
Pls support
i need help with files disappear in my android after encrypting them with ES FILE EXPLORER app (
mostly are files with.mp4' after making a decrypted with the app ( es file explorer ) they simlpy VANISH from the android and cant find them
i am terribly need them back/
please help
Wondering what sense does it make to encrypt videos unless they are porn-videos?
keep Wondering, add some extra for that. but it's not the case this time....
..
can you help instead of wondering ?
Try this:
Look inside the folder where the videos should be and look there for a file named .nomedia. If this file is present delete it.
Didnt work :
i dont know where the .eslock files disappear ( which are the file being decrypted by this program ) i tried seach also with other applications.. but nothing :S
An .ESLOCK file is an encrypted file created by ES File Explorer app.
When you encrypt ( read: lock ) a file with the ES File Exploer app, then file is renamed to a set of numbers and letters and given the "eslock" file extension, which appears similar to asd496gfr04.eslock.
These .ESLOCK files should be found in the folder where the original files where housed. You can search Android for such files using ADB
Code:
adb devices
adb shell "cd /; ls -R * ^| grep 'eslock'"
thanks.
i am not familiar with the ADB thing actualy, i googled a lot and found whats called
"cmdline-tools" inside it there's is a "bin" and then " sdkmanager.bat" but it doesnt run a command shell line to type the codes :S
i dont know how to use that adb..

Use the ADB installer what is in my signature below linked to. Once installed connect Android device with PC via USB-cable and enable in Android's Settings -> Developer options "USB Debug". When having done so open a Windows command prompt and run the ADB commands.
hi again,
I couldn't find anything with the search.
I tried to make another file being encrypted.
but after a day it vanished as well after the encryption.
i dont know whats happening, and if there's another way to resotre those files being vanished :?
also i got most of the search " access denied as in the picture "
