Hi,
I Got some problems with my Nexus 5 last days. First it was the power button problem and it was restarting all the time. I cleaned and it seems ok now.
But NOW my android is not restarting. I don't know if it was due so many restarts during the last few days ... The point is : Or it stocks at the '' GOOGLE '' screen, or it goes to the last part with some colorful stuffs '' gifs loading '' FOREVER.
I Don't have the USB Debugging mode ON so I can't do anything from ADB using my computer.
I Cant access recovery mode ( ALL STOCK SOFTWARE ). When i open the recovery mode it just shows the android with red triangle and NO OPTIONS. Neither Reset and other options that should be there.
I really don't now how to proceed from now.
Any tips?
Thanks !
When you enter recovery, you are suppose to see th dead android with the red triangle. When you see this, hold the power button and press volume up to enter recovery.
That's what i tried to say , sorry. Even doing that nothing happens. None options are shown.
Try reflashing recovery.img file
Hi,
After sometime I'm able to access the recovery mode. But my device are still dead.
Now ,when I open recovery mode it shows right this at the first screen
'' Supported API: 3
E: failed to mount /cache ( Invalid Argument) "
I've already tried to wipe cache/FR and it shows just a lot of problems in creating/wiping partitions.
I tried as well to run the flash-all.bat from the latest android version files from android website but nothing worked.
Any tips to proceed?
Trying to flash using cmd, file by file i got erros like that
'' erasing cache/userdata/system(all those)
FAILED ( remote: failed to erase partition)
Finished. Total time 0.2s ''
For all files from bootloader.img to syustem/recovery/radio/userdata/cache
edit : I've use '' fastboot oem unlock '' , but didn't worked as well.
When you unlock the bootloader, does the bootloader relock itself when the phone reboots?
Yes, after I reset the bootloader relock itself !
Since the bootloader relocks itself after a reboot, the motherboard memory is damaged; therefore, you will need to replace the motherboard.

My Nexus s is stuck at GOOGLE LOGO
Here is the Boot Loader Details.
Boot Loader version is : I9020XXKA3
baseband : I9020XXKB1
Locked sTate : LOCKEd
I have downloaded the stock nandroid , but not able to put it on the phone memory.
then tried to unlock the BOOT Loader in order to install Clock..Recovery , but there also after selecting Yes while Running Fastboot oem unlock , phone does not do anything.
then tried to load the file using ADB mode, but when i run adb devices , it doesnt show any device. or when i run adb remount it says "Error device not found"
Please help me get out of it.....
The order to unlock bootloader is:
download all drivers for nxs
download sdk tools
unzip sdk tools on your hdd
start a cmd prompt
navigate to the /tools folder inside sdk (if some adb files are missing get them here, they go into the /tools folder)
connect nxs via usb (enable usb debugging)
type "adb devices" in cmd (should return the device number)
type "adb reload bootloader"
after phone rebooted into fastboot mode type "fastboot oem unlock"
[without the ""s and install drivers if needed]
when i run adb devices it just shows this as shown below.. it doesnt give device serial number, although when i type adb remount it says device not found.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools>adb devices
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
List of devices attached
running ADB reboot says "Device not found"
although i can see in device manager as "android bootloader interface"
moreover when i run fastboot devices
it does show me my device serial number.
JUST to Emphasize I Am not able to start the phone so cant enable usb Debugging
Did you install the PDAnet drivers? I don't think your PC detects your phone correctly for this to work.
Install those drivers, hook the NS up to your PC and boot into bootloader. Running the adb and fastboot commands should work then.
Greetz
I did try try to install pdanet but it also fails eventually , and installation aborts .
I wonder when fastboot mode is detecting right it does display the interactive screen for unlocking boot loader on my phone .then could it still be driver issue
Can you confirm if adb needs "USB DEbugging enabled" which i can't do as mentioned
Yes you need USB debugging for adb

If fastboot devices showed your serial number, you should be fine. Adb is for when android is up and running. You can mount the sdcard in recovery to copy the image files over for nandroid. If that doesn't work you can always flash in fastboot.
Yes but I am with Stock Recovery ,
IN order to mount SD card I need Clock work recovery and clock work recovery needs UNlocked Boot Loader
SO when I run the COmmand "Fastboot OEM Unlock"
My phone shows me one screen to choose Yes or NO
then I choose "YES" and hit the power button to unlock but then it stays there forever and never Unlocks the Boot Loader.

If you do Fastboot OEM Unlock and then you wait for a while, and pull the battery, then put it back in and hold volume up + power and go back into bootloader mode, does it say LOCKED or UNLOCKED?
I waited for around 15 mins and then pulled out the battery , and then again went to boot loader it still says LOCKED.
IS it possible to execute Nandorid.zip using fastbot mode ?
Use Odin?

Exactly what all did you do before you tried fastboot oem unlock?
I opened the boot loader and run the command Fastboot Devices it did show me my device
then i run fastboot oem unlock , with which my phone showed up one screen confirming boot loader unlock where i chose "Yes" and hit the power button
i waited for 15 mins , tried multiple times and waited even more than an hour
nothing happens in the cmd promt neither on the phone.

Please help me how can i flash using fastboot I tried Fastboot update update.zip(2.3.3 official update)
it gave me following error
archive does not contain 'android-info.txt'
archive does not contain 'android-product.txt'
error: update package has no android-info.txt or android-product.txt
Justsahid - I'm in the exact same predicament as you (as of this morning). I'm still trying to figure out how to get the phone to unlock. I noticed there isn't any post regarding success or if you still have this issue
To all:
When trying to wipe data/factory reset in the recovery mode I receive the following error message:
Formatting /data...
E:format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/blockplatform/s3c-sdhci.0/by-name/userdata
Formating Cache...
Data wipe complete
Then when I go and try to "apply update from /sdcard" is shows this message:
E:failed to mount /sdcard
I just wanted to know if those messages would indicate that the "Internal memory" is inaccessible and that all attempts to fix this issue is futile. Keep in mind, I'm also getting the same error message as Justsahid when trying to fastboot the update.

Hi everyone I first want to sincerely thank everyone that will answer to try to help me solve these problems with my nexus.
So the other day my nexus suddenly decided to stop being awesome and it started to be a pain in the ass instead.
When I turn it on it just keeps loading the booting animation of android 6 marshmallowand it never turn on. I identified this problem as a "bootloop" and i tried solving it anyway but it's being really hard and i'm almost getting no results.
I first tried with going into recovery mode. from the fastboot the recovery mode won't start, pops out a died android with a red triangle on it. Pressing volume up and power from that screen got me to another menu. I tried wiping the cache and wipe all the datas/ factory resets but no results. the crappy marshmallow animation goes on till forever.
On the screen that follow the dead android appears the error: E: failed to mount /cache (Invalid argument).
After that i tried with the famous sdk tools.
I am able to unlock the bootloader with the command [fastboot oem unlock]. however after unlocking it, if I turn the phone off and on again it auto lock itself.
i tried to flash a recovery image with the command [fastboot flash recovery recovery.img] but it won't flash. I unlock the device first, and then i try to flash the images. it says ok after the sending but on the writing says FAILED <remote: flash write failure>
same things happen flashing anything else (android factory images etc.)
I can't use adb, i d need to put the usb debugging mode from the developer options but since I coulnd't turn it on I don't know how to turn this option on.
So i discovered existed a "download mode"
Apparently for the nexus5 you have to push volume up and then connect it to the usb to enter in it. I tried many times and it just don't go to download mode (is this the correct procedure??)
I installed the last google divers, no results.
I really don't know what to do, do you guys have any ideas about how to save it?
phone details:
hammerhead d821(E) 32GB
hw version- rev 11
bootloader version: hhz12k
Cheers
Mattia
I think your emmc chip has gone bad and that is why you are getting locked bootloader everytime you reboot the phone as it is not able to hold any memory.
I suggest RMA if its in warranty

OK so ur ennc chip is NOT dead, that little Android with the triangle is stock recovery, which u can do nothing with, ur going to need a PC, preferably running ubuntu or some other form of Linux with adb and fastboot installed, i cam help with that too if u need it, once u get that settled what u need to do is this, download TWRP for ur hammerhead and rename it recovery.img, place it in a folder u have access to. Open a terminal and connect ur nexus to the pc with USB cable, and boot into bootloader. Then type this into the terminal:
cd (folder with recovery.img in it)
fastboot reboot bootloader (this should boot u back into bootloader if ur device is connected right)
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot reboot recovery
This will boot u to TWRP in which u can perform a factory reset, if this doesn't work and ur still in a bootloop, download ur fav rom and gaps and flash it, this will take care of everything
And there is no download mode on the nexus that would be bootloader mode, so let me get this right, what system are u on, and did u try manually formatting with ADB? What happens when u do, I would force format cache, system, boot, and userdata and then flash recovery, that might work

I tried to flash stock kdz with LG Flash Tool 2 days ago and process was stopped in the middle of flashing so I had to exit program and to pull my battery off. And then when I tried to turn phone on again it wouldn't boot but it showed only something about fastboot and when I'm trying to flash something with it I get unknown error.
This is what it says on screen:
fastboot int()
loading keystore failed status 5
Usb init ept @ 0x....
udc_start()
--reset---
--portchange---
fastboot: processing commands
Phone wasn't rooted and bootloader was locked, I can't access download mode anymore, neither anything else cause no matter what combination of keys I use it only boot into this.
So what are my options for this?
Hello guys, I try to explain myself as best as I can.
I have a Motorola Moto G7 power NOT rooted.
I tried to clean the cache from the menu that appears with Volume down+Power on. I chose "Recovery mode" but no menu appeared. So I chose "Factory mode", I thought that various voices appeared, but from that moment the phone hasn't started up anymore and he tells me:
Code:
start up failed
your device didn't start up successfully
use the Software Repair Assistant on computer to repair your device
AP Fastboot Flash Mode (Secure)
No bootable A/B slot
Failed to boot Linux, falling back to fastboot
Fastboot reason: Fall-through from normal mode
I downloaded that software but it will flash the device.
I have already tried:
- "restart bootlader": it remains on recovery mode.
- "recovery mode": for half a second, the Motorola logo appears and then:
Code:
start up failed etc
No bootable A/B slot
Failed to boot Linux, falling back to fastboot
Boot up failed
- "start": same error above
Now, beyond the fact that I ****ed up and I am aware of it, can I recover only the bootloader? When I chose "Factory mode" none writing appeared, so... it's possibile that my phone was completely formatted in one second? I thought the data, settings, etc are still there but it just screwed the bootloader, is it possible? And how to fix it? I found only guide to flash the phone.
Thanks.
Solved!
Luckily, "factory mode" did not cancel my data, I searched better on the forum and found a way to flash the original firmware without losing data. The Software Repair Assistant flashes only with complete formatting, so you have to change a string of a flashfile.xml before flash with the Software Repair.
Thanks to here and here for the instructions, here a summary:
(The program does not have the download progress bar. You can see the full download from:
- the Rescue now button turns orange
or
- the complete file in C: \ ProgramData \ LMSA \ Download \ RomFiles \ YOUR_FILE.xml )
Once the firmware is downloaded, don't continue with flashing.
Open C:\ProgramData\LMSA\Download\RomFiles
Select the firmware for the device you want to flash
Open the flashfile.xml with a text editor like notepad++ (https://notepad-plus-plus.org/) (I used standard notepad)
Delete this line
Code:
<step operation="erase" partition="userdata"/>
save the changes
Continue the flashing with LMSA
Click to collapse
At the end, the phone turned on as I left it, apps, data, settings, everything
PS: you can find the Software on the official lenovo support

I'm not sure why selecting factory mode would cause such a problem.
Glad you got it working again.

I went through the process of using Smali and Magisk on my phone. Everything was good. Since I was doing this for PoGo, I decided to "clean-up" by disabling some of the settings. I turned off OEM unlocking, reboot the phone in to the bootloader and did a adb flashing lock. I rebooted the phone and not get the error "Can't find a valid operating system". I can boot in to the bootloader with the power button + down volume but I can't unlock the bootloader with ADB and fastboot.
Am I screwed?
I'm also not able to boot in to recovery. I also get the error "Can't find valid operation system"
Well probably too late to reply.
I'm not an expert, i'm newbee but when i installed my custom rom i met some problems to reboot. I solved them by re-installing firm operating system. You can do it by connecting your device with a good usb cable and go to google website : android flash tool
This will reinstall a new an clean system (but erase your data if not saved before).
After that you can install a custom rom from the begining.
