Cannot upgrade my Honor 6 H60-L04

Hi there
today i've tried to update my Honor 6 , but when the download terminates and the phone boot in to recovery, appear an error and it doesn't let me upgrade.
What can i do?
anyone else has found this problem?

previously I did root, but now I removed root, restored recovery and relocked the bootloader :crying:

How I fixed my failing update to B370 (OTA) H60-L04.
I had the exact same problem. I got an error while doing the OTA update, even with a stock recovery.
Special Note: If you have an exFat SD-card you should remove or convert it to ext fs before proceeding. ex-Fat filesystem has been known to cause failure of the .img flashing steps.
Special Note 2: If you do not have B109SP01, ensure that you update to that version first before proceeding. This is since the OTA update.zip is an incremental/partial update and not a "full OS" update. It adds the EMUI3.0 and installs specific .img files, not a full Android.
Disclaimer: This method did NOT delete or remove any data for me, but I can not guarantee it will not change any data.
Ensure that you have a CWM/TWRP backup or any cloud backups of contacts/photos/SMSes and any other data
you need before you continue. Settings such as XPOSED and similar may be altered/modified or disappear, but
this is most likely due to temporary removal of root privilige during this upgrade AND the new updated
EMUI 3.0 rom you will receive.
Here's how I suggest you do:
1. Use the Multi-tool again and unlock your bootloader and root the phone again.
Install the universal ADB driver if you haven't previously.
Honor6 Multi-tool download here...
2. Download the following files:
Huawei Update Extractor
^^^Install this one, download setup version 0.9.8.0.
Official
Honor 6 B109SP01 Upgrade .zip file
^^^Extract this .zip file to a temporary folder.
3. Now comes the special part. First of all you need to run the Huawei Update Extractor.
Use the default "Unknown (worstenbrood)" profile and target/select the unzipped "Update.APP" file that should
be in the B109SP01 folder that you just extracted (In the "Honor6" subfolder).

Like the picture above you will only need to extract the RECOVERY.IMG and SYSTEM.IMG files.
Ctrl-left click to select and then right click and select "Extract selected".
(Note: you will also get two ".img.header" files created, those are not needed)
Extract the files to the folder for the Honor 6 Multi-tool where you have adb.exe/fastboot.exe since we will use those commands.
4. When you have done the above extractions (it can take a while for system since it is 1.35 GB) you need to start your phone in
FASTBOOT mode. Power Off your phone and press Volume Down and connect USB to computer
(while pressing down Volume Down) to enter fastboot mode. (Same as when you are unlocking/rooting the phone from scratch).
5. Now start a command/DOS window, As Administrator to ensure no restrictions. We are now going to enter a few commands with ADB.
Go to the path where you have adb.exe/fastboot.exe for the Honor 6 Multi-tool, using cd command eg.
"cd C:\Users\XXX\Downloads\HONOR_6___6Plus_Multi-Tool\HONOR 6 Multi-Tool". Use dir command to check that you have all
files you need adb.exe/fastboot.exe and RECOVERY.IMG and SYSTEM.IMG.
6. First issue the command:
fastboot devices
This will return an identity to show that you have your phone connected. If it returns empty, please check that your phone is
properly discovered and has the right driver (install from Multi-tool if needed). Redo the command until it is discovered
7. Next, issue the following command:
fastboot flash recovery RECOVERY.img
This will flash the stock RECOVERY.img from B109SP01. It will not take a long time.
8. And finally issue the last command:
fastboot flash system SYSTEM.img
This will flash the stock SYSTEM.img from B109SP01 and IT WILL REMOVE ROOT for the time being.
Ensure that this completes properly, since it is a 1.35 GB file it will take a while. Do not disconnect or disturb this activity.
It can take several steps and a few minutes to complete. Check that you really have a final "ready" and are back in the
command prompt before this is complete. Check the RECOVERY.img result for comparison.
9. When both steps above are completed fully you can now disconnect the phone.
Press the power button a 10-15 seconds to ensure it really shuts down from the FASTBOOT mode.
Then boot up the phone again.
10. This should boot up your phone and you should notice no difference now. Root is however gone so any apps/functions
depending on root will fail. This is actually good for now, this means that above steps have worked.
(XPOSED and other apps using root are not working, certain stock features/looks are "back".)
11. Go to the "System Update" function in the regular settings. Now run the OTA update to B370 as normal or
use the Local Update functions if you want to. Do the reboots and hopefully it will run 100% and not stop with a failure.
Please review and redo steps above if it still fails.
12. After reboot it will do the necessary "Updating applications" as any Android update.
When you boot into the phone the first time things will have changed (like background, some icons etc.) but your
apps and data should remain. You will also go through a small guide, about 3-4 steps (Language/regions settings etc.)
13. Do any necessary updates from Google Play store (if any pending). Also reboot the phone into FASTBOOT mode
and re-run the Honor 6 Multi-tool to root your phone again (if needed) and install CWM/TWRP (if you wish).
14. Voilá, you should now have a B370 EMUI 3.0 phone. Please note that certain apps may have changed or lost certain
locks/functions so I recommend that you reinstall those first. Also check your "default" SMS/Webbrowser/Caller apps etc
that you would like to use if you are not using stock Huawei ones.

Recovery.img is loaded in to the phone, but system.img not. the first part of the file is loading very quickly, but the second part don't. I have waited more then 2 hours and nothing.

My phones rooting is gone. But I still can't update

Sorry to hear that smldmr. The SYSTEM.img really needs to complete. Have you retried from the first step? Skip the RECOVERY.img step and just flash the SYSTEM.img until i succeeds. It should do that in less than 15 minutes in 4-5 sparse sends. If it stops, it may be something with the usb port, some sort of disconnect from your computer. Any other USB devices you have that are causing strange polling or similar. If possible switch to another port, avoid using usb-hubs.

my situation is this:

bootloader status = "relocked"
system = STOCK
recovery = STOCK
phone data (i mean app & media) = the same before the guide

TigerDeveloper, is your bootloader locked after update or was it locked before you started? I had unlocked bootloader while flashing this and also unlocked after...

OK.
Perhaps something I missed in my attempt to upgrade....
Perhaps you should do this:
1. Unlock Bootloader and ensure that you have rooted the phone.
2. Start the phone and download a filebrowser like Root Explorer or similar.
3. Ensure that you can remove the folders HWOUC if they are on the SDCARD (0) or even on external SDCARD1.
4. Also check the root folder that there is no "dload" folder from any manual attempts to update. (Delete if there is.).
These steps are to ensure that you do not have a corrupted/failing update left of the update.zip file that is downloaded
and so that a fresh one can be retrieved using the OTA update function in the Settings.
Double check that you do not have any pending/locked updates from Google Play store. If so, ensure that they are installed.
I do not know if there is a size limit on the SDCARD0 (built in 16GB storage) that has to be met.
Please check that you have adequate space left (2gb+) so that the update.zip can unpack itself properly when installing.
Remove any unneccesary/old/large apps that may cause you to loose this and clear out caches to give yourself space.
Then redo the steps to flash RECOVERY.img and SYSTEM.img and attempt a new update with the OTA function.
This may be something I did as I also experimented first trying to do the manual "dload"-folder update before doing my flashing.

That's great smldmr. I have a regular ext-fs formated sdcard so I didn't anticipate exFat to be an issue. TigerDev,what is your sdcard?

i have a 16 GB sdcard exfat
now i just tried to do a factory reset with stock recovery and bootloader relocked, redownloaded update via OTA, but no change

This guide is intended for all those who like me were not able to once update your phone (H60-L04)
here's how I solved it:
1) restore the system (rom, recovery, bootloader)
2) remove the ROOT
3) install the "beta" 3.0

TigerDev, I have the B370 local.prop/build.prop now.
The stock B109SP01 .prop files should become/restore to stock when you flash the SYSTEM.img. Did you test, like smldmr, to do my steps after you have removed your exFat sdcard?

Remove micro-sd card before download OTA and updating.

Sorry, Its the same is true, but this is for Europe and files are diferent from Colombia, thats way the issue..
It does not work in L22 and L33 , although it is the same phone with the same kernel, but the provider configuration is totally different, frequencies , network codes, etc.
I did not know because no one yet with these models had reported , I found this incompatibility shortly ...
If someone able to change or create , it may be possible to upgrade .

i updated to B370 successfuly, everything working fine except Motion Control. when i go to "Motion Control" in Settings, there is nothing there (a blank white screen).
I remember this problem was in P6 EMUI 3 too and a patch was there to fix it. any patches for G6?

Same thing goes rong. Sensors must work! Or pictures rotate?
If not, flash b118 again, than b370. Don't forget factory reset after change cust folders names.

Excellent guide, you did a summary of four different things in one and easy to understand. For your mastery of the subject I wanted to ask your help to use my Huawei G6-U00 with firmware of China, which has unlocked WCDMA 1900 MHz band, so I can not use the phone in 3G in Venezuela.
Is there a way to unlock it?
I have tried to Engineer Mode, but it asks a code that is not known Huawei (0, 0000, 1234), . Also I tried the QPST program, but despite being recognized as a modem, do not read as a telephone and does not communicate with the RF_NV_Item_Manager.

Hmmm, unlock bootloader, root it and do backup from your ROM. than try b136 u251 rom, from colombia. You can use g6sknife to do backup (need root).

I have Bootloader unlocked, Rooted, and CWM as Recovery.
I installed G6-U251 B136 dload in SDcard, Note ( in my U00), and gave me the following errors; oemsbl version list check error!, ?V write data error, Error; Update.app is an invalid package, Sd card update failure, SD card update abort.
I used the default recovery cause the CWM asks a zip file. and I unzipped the file and place it in the folder Dload in SDcard.
Any advice?

After you do backup with g6sknife, there is a tool you can use, is the rom extractor, is in g6skinfe to.
Extract system, cust modems.
Copy system to cmd folder, boot in fastboot (bootloader), use cmd option, than flash system if fail you need to restore your backup, because you stay with out system, if you get success, put cust and modems in backup zip and use cwm to flash it. If you get success to, you need to change cust to your provider.

i hope someone can help me with a little problem on my Huawei G6 smartphone.
the model is a G6-U10
but currently i have a U00 rom installed (B370, downloaded from the official Huawei site, probably the Chinese one)
installation of this rom went smooth, but this build has some serious shortcomings, so i wanted to install another rom. but that appears to be impossible!
I tried several U10, C00 and L11 roms, ranging from build B118, B193, B261,B330 and B370. most download from the official Huawei servers. and I also tried rollbacks, (U10 B360 to B136 and L11 B370 to B118), but nothing seems to work.
mostly i get the message "version list error" with some other things.
it's weird that i managed to install a U00 rom on a U10 device, but now it seems that i can't install anything from other models than U00 ánd roms that are older than the current one (B370), which is the problem, because this is the newest i think... so i can't find any other rom that i can install...
the phone is not rooted. i tried is with Vroot and Rood Genius, but it didn't work. why, i don't know. i don't even know what i precisely would do when the phone is rooted... but that's another story
I really want to install a proper working (preferably EU) rom on my G6, and at this point it doesnt matter to me how old the build is...
problem with the current rom U00 B370 is mostly this:
i can't add my Google account for the phones' contacts
play store can't install any apps

First, if you have a U10 why you flash a U00 ROM? ...
Google G6 U10 b146, try to install it.
Tell if you made it?

G6 ROMS
There are a lot of steps to do.. Open Bootloader, Root the Phone, Install Custom Bootloader, Flash a new Rom for G6-U10.
All these Steps are full Explained in GG Development Group in Facebook.
Send a request join message, and in Pinned Post. Read , read and read. There are a lot of information and a ROM that fit your ROM. What does it mean UE in your Question? United States? Union Europa´s? the ROMS are quite different.

How To Go Back To B003 or B012 after B106, B111, B112 on 702L

[As always, back up your data/files/apps/etc, so that you can restore them when necessary.]
Here is how I was able to go back to B002, B003, B006, B009, B012 even though I had already B106, B015, B111 and B112 installed on the 702L.
#1: extract all files from the full version's respective update.app (Huawei Update Extractor)
#2: flash all (ie 19 of 24) except crc, curver, EFI, SHA256RSA, verlist (fastboot flash example example.img) (use adb setup 1.4.3/latest)
#3: (before you boot to avoid bootloop) »factory reset« (ie wipe data & cache)
Enjoy (time traveling through the versions)
Here also the update.zip files picked up while flashing from version to version. They can be used for analysis, testing, updating, modding, cust building, etc...you name it!

As per subject/headline: 702L, it is the only Huawei MediaPad X2 model I have right now
The key why it works seems to be, that all possible img are flashed
(not just a few as oft suggested eg boot, system, cust, cache, userdata, recovery)
and then a factory reset is done
(not the stock recovery via vol/pwr button and update.app in dload folder, which seems to create a mess and does not always go through fully).

Perhaps if you take a proper backup, then try, you can report back with interesting experiment results?

From my observations (and you know I am not the manufacturer),
camera, battery charging, debugging, texting, phone calls, project menu,
all worked fine under stock re-flashed & factory reset 702L with B003 and B012.

Sounds good, I just got 1 problem, I can't run (Huawei Update Extractor). It keeps shutting down before it event started with an error, and it terminates it self.

The Huawei Update Extractor has nothing to do with the functionality of the above. However, you may wanna try a different computer to run the Huawei Update Extractor at, and perhaps run it as admin and make any execution prevention/control go easy on it?

On my experiments I lost the ability of charging.
You are reporting of big problems with your device on other threads and with these flash commands. So you havn't been able to install TWRP.
Maybe youhave never been correct updated to 5.11. If this is the case you are able to restore Android 5.10 via this method.
I made similar experiments about 5 weeks ago and was able to retore a NANDROID 5.0 on my insane B111 installation.
But this installation was not done correclty and had problems.
After I installed everything version by version, installing universal cust, formatted SD and did reset factorys,
I was not able anymore to restore the 5.0 Nandroid. This is an evidence of a sane 5.11 installation.
Then I tested flashing files from 5.0 (like described in this thread). After this I was able to recover the 5.0 Nandroid again,
but lost the abilty of charging.
The same thing happend to a person in german forum.
So don't try this for fun. Let't wait until you have fixed your device and are able to install a sane KangVip B112 via TWRP.
If then you are still able to flash back a 5.0 Andriod version and can report that the phone charges the battery, I would gratulate and change my optionion about that.

It is your choice if/when you learn from my reports.
Flashing standard files is normal, rooting is not.
Your experiments with your devices may yield different results simply
because you may do things differently, and because the devices may be
different (in hardware, software, state; the system is only one part).
When flashing non-standard images, one has to be prepared to get also
some non-standard results. That is not a big problem, just a hurdle
when going off the standard path (and rooting/TWRP is off the norm).
When reporting of flash results and asking questions, keep in mind that
neither your nor mine nor anyone's opinion has to be right. Only large
scale tests could be used to give indication (and even manufacturers
can be wrong).
Meanwhile, what someone might like to view as a big problem may in fact
be rather a piece of useful info, but one knows that only after using
it (as explained before). As you can see, it is much more important to
stay open minded (and yes, I agree, careful).
As there seems to be no one able to look at a device's file system at
the deepest level easily, and especially not without root (and even so
perhaps not fully), who could tell for sure if anyone's device is w/o
residuals of previous systems/change?
Although it is not the point of this thread, I will try to find a way
to root this particular device, and do appreciate your concern and help.
Please let's keep it factual (non personal), helpful and encouraging.

Hi guys. I actually found an official way, which was provided by Huawei's product manager, to downgrade to 5.0, . It was posted on Huawei's official forum but in Chinese. The original link.
It seems that they provide a "transition downgrade pack" and an apk called "x2.downgrade.apk". You can download from here.
The transition pack (download from here)
and x2.downgrade.apk
The instruction says, just install the downgrade apk, extract the "update-cust.app" from transition pack. put it in dload as well as B015 official update.app, put the dload in your sd card, and let the download apk lead the way.
I was prepared to perform it just for experiment's sake, but the X2.download.apk wouldn't let my gem-702 on 703 B111 install. It said "your phone is not a China model". So, I couldn't go any further.
Anyway, just provide an information for any one who would like to try. But you have to resolve the installing problem of x2.downgrade.apk first, though.

I can make a flashable cust for whatever version you need to flash back to. Then you can fastboot flash the img files from the version you want to go back to, flash the cust mod so when you do the dload after you flash back the img files it works properly. It's kind of similar to when I upgraded to the beta of Marshmallow then went back to Lollipop. The key is, to get COMPLETELY back to 5.0 you neeed to dload the 5.0 so it installs the 5.0 bootloader, radio, etc. The only way you can dload successfully is if everything is in place. The proper boot, cust, system and recovery need to be in place. The problem for most of you that want to go back but can't do it successfully is the cust isn't the proper one so everything fails. If someone sends me the cust.img from the system they want to flash back to i'll make a cust mod for that version to make it easier and to make it work.

It said "your phone is not a China model" I think if you don't flash cust B111 universal, it may be installed.

I installed the downgradex2.apk , it also said my device is not China Version(703L)

Hi, I am quite interested in trying this your way. I need time to download the preferred stock ROM though. Huawei's official page lags really bad now. When I fully download it, I'll upload the cust.img. Thanks so much for your help.
(Currently, I don't have the need to downgrade, but I do want to keep the choice available.)

Now B212 is out. If yours phone is on B211 rooted you must have it got back to B211 stock rom, then OTA update to B212. To do so, you must have stock rom B211 (update.app). I can not find stock update.app B211, so I have to do steps below to get back to stock B211:
B211 (B205, B209) rooted -> B112 stock -> OTA B211 stock -> OTA higher...

Extract the zip file an put the folder dload (update.app inside) in the root of a sdcard.
2. REMOVE THE SDCARD out of the phone.
3. Download rom B112 rooted with GAPPS from here:

Then copy this rom (.zip) into the root of internal storage of the phone.
4. Install cofface_hwx2_twrp_recovery

- Turn OFF your phone
- Connect your Huawei MediaPad X2 to your computer using a USB cable

- Choose Wipe -> Advance then wipe davik cache, data, system.
- Get back and choose Install, navigate to the rom B112 rooted with GAPPS.zip and flash it.
5A. Connect your Huawei MediaPad X2 to your computer using a USB cable then copy official rom B112 (folder dload with update.app inside) into the root of internal storage of the phone. Then go to Step 7 then Step 9 below (ignore steps 6 and 8).
If copy official rom B112 into the root of internal storage FAILs, then go to steps 6, 7, 8, 9.

7. Install Stock Recovery

Great! I'm trying this out now. Just downloading the rom at the moment. Fingers crossed.
EDIT: just tried and it still says software version incompatible. I also can't install b205 as it kept on saying software install failed.

If TWRP is installed. How can Step 7 work?
Normally it will boot into TRWP and say "error".
A "dload" needs the huawei recovery.img installed in recovery partition first.
Maybe this changed if you were on 6.0, or this "magic thing" about removing and returning SD card.

This is really great it works after the flash STOCK_B112_ROOTED_GAPPS.zip without a reboot.
I go to step 4,and everything works, and the right system info is displayed.
This is the fastest and easiest downgrade from 6.0 to 5.1.1

You have to REMOVE SD CARD in the first step to avoid the the phone reboot in to stock revovery mode in the 4th step.

Well about step 7, I actually didnt know such thing exist, but now that I think about it I see the last time I used same method to recover my gem701 from infinite loop of reboots, I just had a update.app of stock b112 on my sd card and phone recovered itself from failure. So this is the way I used without being noticed.

Okay, here's how I switch back to b112 without any problem.
I followed the instruction to step 6, so far so good.
Then I fastboot-flashed stock recovery to proceed to step 7.
However, the hard reset didn't go all the way(stopped at 9x%).
So I decided to go for the traditional route: I flashed 5 img files of B112, then flashed universal cust, then went for dload update, then flashed universal cust again to fix "About phone", formatting internal storage if necessary. Voila! done!

I'd like to know this as well. why are people trying to go back? there must be something wrong with 6.0?
It seems a little complicated to go from 5.1 to 6.0, so I wanted to know if it was worth the trouble.

Some update in the first post.

Honor 8 bootloop issue!!!! (HELP!!!)

Folks,
I recently bought a Honor 8 and was trying to unlock the bootloder, install twrp and supersu by following the link below

As stated in the link above, I got to the steps to install supersu. However, on following step 12, it has formatted the data and now the phone is in a bootloop(stuck on the blue screen showing HONOR label)
I'm guessing my phone will not boot up since the OS has been erased. Could someone please help me restore this phone to back to the stock firmware and steps needed to do so. I am new to Honor phones, so not sure what I need to do and steps needed. Would appreciate any help if possible??
1. Boot into TWRP
2. Once there, when asked to keep system read only? - swipe to allow modifications
3. Tap Install
4. Tap Select Storage - Select your SD card
5. Select the supersu file "SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815-EMUI5.0.zip"
6. Swipe to confirm flash
7. Ignore the multiple errors: "Failed to mount '/data' (Invalid argument)
8. Go back to the main menu
9. Select Reboot to Recovery
10. When asked to keep system read only? - swiped to allow modifications (again)
11. Tap Wipe
12. Tap Format Data
13. Type YES then hit enter
14. It will format data using make_ext4fs..
15. When finished, tap Reboot System
16. Reboot back into TWRP
17. Swipe to allow modifications (You can check the box to never show this again)
18. Tap Install
19. Select storage
20. Select your SD card
21. Select the supersu file "SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815-EMUI5.0.zip"
22. Swipe to confirm flash
23. You should see NO ERRORS now when installing SuperSU
24. Wipe cache/dalvik
25. Swipe to wipe
26. Reboot system

Download the rollback and marshmallow firmware package from honors website. Rename the rollback package to "UPDATE.APP" and place it in a folder called "dload" in your micro SD card. Put the micro SD in your phone, and boot into the firmware update screen (volume up + volume down + power all at the same time). Once it's done, delete the old UPDATE.APP file from the dload folder, rename your marshmallow firmware package to "UPDATE.APP", place it in the dload folder on your micro SD card, place the micro SD in your phone, and again flash the firmware using volume up +volume down +power

Since you still have access to the SD Card via USB, you can just download your firmware, extract it and put the UPDATE.APP in a dload folder on a microSD card and press all 3 buttons when starting up the phone to start installing the OS again.

Since the phone is in bootloop, I would have to use a different phone and it's SD card slot to download the firmware and then put it on the Honor 8. I'm guessing the rollback process would only apply if I wanted to go back to the Marshmellow firmware. My question though is would I be able to restore it back to Android Nougat(7.0) if possible.
I found the following link below for the Nougat(7.0) firmware. Not sure if this will work on the U.S phones. Is there a different process to restore it back to Nougat?

You can try just getting the nougat firmware onto your micro SD, then pressing volume up + volume down + power to see if it works. Worse case scenario is that you'll get an error.
If you do get an error, your can try the rollback procedure. Once you get marshmallow running you can always just update back to nougat with OTA.
Oh yeah, you don't necessarily need another phone. Just get a micro SD card adapter and plug it into your computer, then transfer the files into the dload folder

thanks for the info..just another clarification. The nougat firmware I found online was a zip file that included 3 files(attached snapshot) . I noticed one of the files is the UPDATE.APP.
My question is on creating the new dload folder do I need to remove the other two files or just copy all of 3 files in the dload folder before I try to restore the phone back.. Sorry if it's a straight-forward question, but I just want to make sure I'm doing this right.

What are the other 2 files? Just curious

there is a folder called : META-INF which has some files in it and also a file called: full_mainpkg.tag which is only a 1KB file so maybe that's inconsequential.

Did you try out the procedure yet? The META-INF folder should not be necessary. You can always try the method with and without the folder included if you really need to.

I did...it did do the update following the steps you mentioned and it seems everything went fine as far as the update is concerned. I didn't get any errors, but once the phone rebooted it is still stuck on the blue screen with the Honor logo on it

If neither procedure worked, you can try another procedure which involves extracting SYSTEM.IMG, BOOT.IMG, RECOVERY.IMG, and CUST.IMG from the UPDATE.APP file, then flashing all of them through fastboot, and finally preforming the rollback procedure again.

was finally able to get the phone to reboot and load the firmware. It does seem that there is some issue with the keyboard now as it's only showing OK google as the keyboard so I don't have a keyboard anymore. Not sure how to go around this. Also the phone seems a little laggy and unresponsive at times which wasn't happening earlier. I'm thinking of trying the rollback method to see if that helps or improves the performance of the phone. Let me know of you have any suggestions. Thanks again for your help...

That's a known issue with the keyboard. For some reason it does not function correctly after a factory reset. The rollback should fix everything. Once you are back on marshmallow, just update back to nougat (if you want to) through OTA system update.
Edit: it might actually be easier to just perform a factory reset on the nougat firmware. I'm assuming your data was wiped through the procedure anyway, right?

I'm not sure if there is a FRD-L14(64GB) variant of the MM firmware available anywhere. If so, I'm not aware of the link of the site to find it. Secondly, if I do install the FRD-L04(32GB) variant of the MM firmware would that create problems for the phone in upgrading and later trying to root and install custom ROM etc.

The nougat firmware your flashed earlier, was it the L14 firmware? I would not flash a L04 firmware on a L14. Instead, you can probably flash the L14 nougat firmware (unless you already did) and then perform a factory reset

The OP uploaded the correct L14 firmware files. Remember to first flash the rollback package, then the firmware.

the firmware I flashed earlier was the L14 firmware. I went to the link you mentioned above in your post. It's a little confusing as far as the exact steps that need to be followed as people seem to be adding/modifying steps. Would help if I could get a clear step process on how/what to follow.
Also, is it okay to flash the rollback package and then flash the nougat firmware package for L14 if I am currently on nougat(not fully functioning as mentioned in the posts above).

The rollback package is only used if you're downgrading from nougat to marshmallow. Otherwise, you don't need it. Since you were having some issues after flashing the nougat firmware, I would recommend that you rollback, and then update to nougat afterwards. Here's a step by step:
1. Get an micro SD card. Create a folder on it called "dload"
2. Download the F14 rollback package from the following link:

Extract the UPDATE.APP file, and place it into your dload folder. Pace the micro sd into your phone
3. With the phone shut off, press volume up + volume down + power to flash the UPDATE.APP. Once it's done, shut down your phone and remove the sd card
4. Download the F14 Marshmallow firmware from the following link:

Extract the UPDATE.APP, and replace the old UPDATE.APP in the dload folder with the new one you just downloaded.
5. Place the micro sd into your phone. Repeat the button combination to flash it. Once it's done, shut down your phone.
6. Press volume up + power to boot into system recovery. Wipe the phone's data from this screen.
7. Boot into the phone. Go to settings -> About
Check to see if the model# etc is correct. If it is not, complete step 8. Otherwise go to step 9:
8. Download the following file:

Extract the UPDATE.APP, place it in the dload folder, and flash it.
9. Boot into the phone. If you want to update to nougat, do the following:
Go to your dialer, and type *#*#2432546#*#*
This will force your phone to check for updates.
Then go to Settings -> Updater to update to nougat

I did follow your steps, but my keyboard has now vanished when the set up screen appears. It only shows google voice and I'm having trouble setting up my phone. Has anyone had the same problem. What can I do to get my keyboard back?
Note: my phone is unrooted. Not sure if that makes a difference
