Ok, I am new to this forum so please excuse me if I posted this incorrectly or if there might be another thread similar! (I tired searching but could not find anything so please don't scorn me )
So this is my problem...
I have the Moto G 2013 Verizon Non-Dev (XT1028) that I am sick and tired of seeing "lollipop will be coming soon!" But it being a non-dev edition it does not qualify for Motorola's Official Bootloader Unlock. I searched everywhere on YouTube (yeah, yeah, not the reliable...) and Google on how to root and bootloader unlock but none of those things have helped me. Let me cut to the chase!
Basically I am on 4.4.4
~~~Rooting~~~
It requires my bootloader to be unlocked
~~~Unlocking Bootloader (unofficially)~~~
Using Sunshine~
"Your device has to be rooted in order to check for compatibility. " (not the exact message but the gist is I cant unlock because I don't have root)
So with those two being in mind are there anyways to bypass one or the other? I'm stuck in an infinite loop between being able to root requires a bootloader unlock and the bootloader unlock requires a root to do... Any known ways to root 4.4.4 without bootloader unlock OR unlock my bootloader officially or unofficially?
P.S. This is my first post as well so I'm not sure if my random babbling helped explain so if any information is needed I can try to provide it! Thanks for any help and suggestions
I've searched up and down and all around for a guide but I have yet to find a way to root or unlock the boot loader for the xt1045. Ive tried towelpieroot, sunshine, framaroot and king root and still havent had any success. Does anyone know of a way to accomplish this?
You can't even root the XR1045 by cricket (ATT/AIO) or even unlock the bootloader with a PC. I have the same variant. ATT will not let you unlock the bootloader and even the Motorola forums say it can never be unlocked. I hope there is some sort of bypass to fix this
There are many threads about how to unlock and root but things get old much fast, I feel like FAQ is too old to follow.
I prefer ask before make same thing wrong.
I have a Moto G 4g with lollipop locked and orginal, so I decide to put new thing now because same things are annoying me in the phone, I think xposed can help me well, so I only need unlock and put root, but need to know the last way to do this, I know unlock is easy but what recovery to flash and how? What I need to root? Is there same problem with xposed in lollipop?
I did come from Razer D3 mediatek, had not unlocked bootloader but was easy to root and te best way to custom was with xposed, so im more "acquainted" with this.
any help on this would be appreciated.
Please someone answers!!
If your phone is not retail and your carrier locked your bootloader, it's not currently possible to unlock the bootloader or permanently root it. You can only temproot it currently.
If you want to flash a recovery your bootloader must be unlocked. You cannot flash anything with a locked bootloader. But if you wish to know, you can use TWRP or CWM for peregrine phones.
I am trying to figure out if it's possible to root the xt1540. I've tried to unlock the bootloader and it keeps returning a failed status. Is there any method that anyone knows that can root this? All I want is to install a few system level apps.

How exactly did you try to unlock bootloader
There are multiple tutorials here... Unlocking the bootloader is purely a Moto thing though, maybe if you gave more details we could help.
Hi.
I know that my device is bootloader locked (Was on O2) and I would like to root it. However I would like to keep Android 7.11. Is there a temporary root for it? I know there was for Android 5 and 6.
Also someone else on the forum managed to get their bootloader unlock to yes. If there is a paid for utility that does that I would pay for it.
Many Thanks,
