So I've got this tablet mentioned in the title (I'd post a link but not allowed) and I was trying to remove some Chinese bloatware that was killing the laptop with sub-1h battery life. Long story short, something (I have no idea what) went wrong when I was closing apps to test dependencies, I got a bunch of force-close errors, it rebooted, now I'm stuck at the boot screen.
Here's the additional details I can give;
I have debugging enabled and can reach the device with ADB (I've kicked it into recovery and fastboot to test it a few times)
I have access to recovery from the device; it's stock but allows flashing via SD, ADB, or cache
I can wipe the system (factory) but since something needed in the OS was messed up that doesn't fix the problem (I tried)
There's no data on the tablet that I need (it could be wiped completely if that's a step towards solution
I haven't been able to find a ROM that explicitly says it's compatible with this device
I have a microSD card and an adapter so I can access the microSD from my PC without the tablet
The tablet was rooted, but with Kingo. I could give apps root access but SuperSU didn't work for be and wouldn't update binaries
Along with the rooted bits, I can't seem to use the adb root command or mount /system as rw
Along with the last point, the /system partition seems to be read only at the moment.
Help?
Hi,
Thanks for using XDA assist.
I couldn't find a relevant forum for your device, so you could post in the Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum.
Please note that in order to post, you will need to create a XDA account.

Apologies if this is already answered somewhere or should have been common knowledge - I'm new to Android. I feel like I've read through all the appropriate threads but haven't found the answer.
I wanted to simply remove some of the stock apps from my G2X. I can't get adb connected while in CWM recovery. I've done the following:
- Installed android sdk
- Installed LG adb driver
- Rooted with SuperOneClick
- Installed Rom Manager from the market and "fake" flashed ClockworkMod Recovery
- Booted into CWM and made a nandroid backup
- Factory reset using stock recovery
- Restored nandroid backup using CWM - works fine
Now, I believe all I need to do is get adb connected in recovery mode, mount /system and delete any .apks I don't want; however, the adb device is not present when I boot to CWM recovery. adb works fine when booted normally. As a result, I obviously can't start adb shell. Oh, and I've tried this from XP 32bit and Win7 x64. What am I missing?
Did I need to flash CWM to the actual recovery area using NVflash for this to work? I'd rather not do this for warranty purposes (especially this soon) unless absolutely necessary. Incidentally, the other USB devices (virtual serial port, modem, and storage devices) do show up while in recovery - just not the adb device.
I'm open to other methods of stripping .apks. I don't yet know anything about modifying and repackaging a nandroid backup, if that's possible, or I would try that route.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
EDIT: I've resolved my particular issue by just remounting /system as rw while the phone is booted normally. This still doesn't answer the CWM adb question, but at least for now, I guess I don't need that.
I believe you can just use Root Explorer (or another type of file manager) to delete or freeze the apps that you do not want. Not sure if this belongs in development.
This will be moved soon enough, and you didn't search enough since i know there is threads talking about this. Do a search again. mod plz move this to the right area.
Maybe a freeze is one way to go, but obviously a cleaner way is remove the apps, which should be possible with this method and others.
I did search - a lot - in this forum and others. I found no one directly addressing adb not working in CWM on the G2X. I saw one poster here mention they had a similar issue, but only on XP and no one responded to that either. If you know of a thread with this information in it, please enlighten me.
Maybe this isn't the right forum to post in, but the question is directly about CWM flashed to a rooted G2X and access using adb...
I just use titanium backup's Chuck Norris Mode.

Root Explorer is your best friend, a simple delete is all you need, make sure you mount before entering system

Haha, plenty of answers, none of which answer your main concern. I too have been mystified by the lack of adb functionality while in recovery. I have come to the conclusion that it's simply not functional with this very early version of clockwork recovery for our phones and probably not a high priority for the devs at the moment as theres probably plenty of other issues deemed more urgent. Especially considering there are many work-arounds to solve this particular missing function. Hopefully I'm wrong though.

Hello there.
My phone is in a state which is widely being reffered to as "bricked". After hours of reading through hundreds of forums and trying out everything possible/impossible, I came to this - I'm posting here, and desperately asking you guys for help.
I have Moto G XT1032. I converted it to GPE, to install a 5.0.1 ROM few months ago. I used it without any problems. However, today I decided to try out the stock 5.0.2 ROM. But I read that I'll have to change my Data partition to F2FS (from EXT4). I did that (using TWRP v2.8.5.0), and then I did this terrible mistake: I decided to do a clean install, so I wiped everything. I wiped System, and Internal storage as well. Yes, I know that I'm stupid.
Now my phone is stuck at my custom recovery (TWRP) or at bootloader. I can switch between these two, but I can't boot to the system, because I don't have any system installed (because I wiped the /system partition - what an Einstein I am -_-). I thought that it would be easy - I just have to somehow push the zip file of the new ROM to my phone, and then install it from TWRP. The thing is - I can't transfer any files to the phone. I'm probably missing some drivers, but the problem is, that the phone doesn't have any operating system installed (besides bootloader, I guess) - so I can't get any drivers working. My PC is running Windows 7 64bit.
I tried installing Motorola Device Manager, I tried using the drivers from android-sdk, but nothing helped. When I type a command "adb devices" to a command line, it says: "List of devices attached >emtpy line<". When I connect the phone to the PC, it doesn't even try to look for drivers anymore. I tried deleting them (drivers), placing there some new, but again - nothing helped. If anyone can provide any help, I'd be very, very, very glad.
Thanks in advance.
//edit: Nevermind, I made my phone alive again. I just had to use mfastboot tools. Moderators can close or delete this thread, please. I'm sorry for creating it, since it was kinda useless.
temme how to recover the system folder. i have a system folder on my desktop. help me. my phone isnt turing on
If you can get into fastboot and recover you can restore your phone. You just need a complete ROM, and restore it with mfastboot method.
It doesn't matter if you wiped system, you can do that in TWRP, if you reboot it won't boot into the OS (obviously) but go into fastboot mode.
Download mfastboot, a ROM image, and go through the command lines. There is a FAQ on how to restore.

Also TWRP/CWM has support for adb, u just need to install the drivers manually. Then you can push whatever you want.
Of course you can try restoring stock as suggested above.
How did u fixed it? :/
As a last resort there is always OTG (this thing has OTG support right?). Life was so much simpler when you could just put your sd card into a card reader and put your zip on there. A quick google search makes me think its got support, but who knows
Hi Everyone,
I'm using a Samsung GT-N7105. It has 16GB of internal memory. It has no external SD card.
A few days ago my phone's screen went black. Everything else works fine, including touch, just that the screen is always completely black.
I took it to a repair centre. After the repair centre ran some tests, (they kept my phone for 2 days,) they confirmed it was the LCD screen problem (i.e. a hardware issue). Since that LCD screen is expensive to repair, I chose not to repair it.
So now I want to install Android Screencast on my phone. I connect my phone to my desktop, and to my surprise I discover that USB debugging isn't enabled anymore!
So I call the repair centre and ask them what software changes they made to my phone. Their response is:
1) The partition table has definitely NOT been altered.
2) "Your Android version has not been upgraded."
3) "We used a special software to format your phone." They declined to tell me what software they used, and they don't seem to know which partitions have been "formatted"! But they did say that "format" was not the same as "factory reset".
(Btw the people at the repair centre are non-native English speakers, whereas my first language is English, so it was hard to ask about technical details.)
Therefore my best guess about the software state of my phone is:
1) It's running stock Android 4.1.2, which it's been running since the first day I bought it
2) The bootloader should have no KNOX nonsense
3) Recovery should be stock recovery
4) A few partitions have been "formatted" to unknown states
5) There are no longer any pattern, PIN, or password locks on my phone. If my phone is on and it's been sitting idle, I just have to tap the home button, then swipe the screen, and it unlocks.
I can reconstruct the partition table of my internal memory if you guys need it. I did an entire dump of mmcblk0 about two months ago.
(Btw the size of that dump of mmcblk0 is 15,758,000,128 bytes, which is significantly less than 16GB, even if you count by 1000s instead of 1024s. Unimportant side question, but does anyone know why?)
**************
My main question is: How do I enable USB debugging ON ANDROID with the black screen restriction?
I've searched the forums, and in thread 2395047 (can't post links yet) the recommendation is to flash CWM recovery to get adb access. But keep in mind that my ultimate goal is to be able to install Android Screencast on my phone, so that I can regain full phone functionality (with the help of an attached computer screen). I don't quite see how adb access via CWM recovery can help me to achieve this goal.
Also, I've never actually used CWM recovery before and don't know how it works. One of my concerns is: Once I have flashed CWM recovery, and after I boot into recovery, do I immediately get adb access just by hooking up to USB cable to the desktop? Or do I first have to select some setting, which would be tough to do with a black screen?
Thanks in advance for all your help!
Ernest

Hello,
I've been dealing with android for a while and have been a member of XDA for a while. In my time here I've searched for a solution to this issue many times all over the web and XDA but never came up with anything useful.
Of the possible solutions I've found, the most likely possibility is to use an OTG cable and mouse to interface your device but this requires you to see the screen which is not an option for you. adb in this situation is only useful if you want to retrieve data from your device. I do remember finding something on the web that could potentially help you turn on USB debugging but I'm having trouble finding it now. I'll keep looking but can't promise anything. In the meantime, try posting your question in the forum linked below.

Hi Droidriven!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and reply to my question.
Guess what, with the help of workdowg, I managed to work out a solution! My saving grace is that I'm running Android 4.1.2 and not one of the newer versions. My understanding is that if I was running one of the newer versions of Android, then I wouldn't even be able to get adb access via CWM recovery, because of the extra security measures. (Although I might be wrong about this point; I am still noob.)
I solved my problem in the following way:
1) Flash CWM recovery via ODIN Download mode
2) Boot into recovery, connect phone to desktop computer, open a command line terminal
3) Type "adb shell" to get a root shell in CWM recovery
4) In that root shell, type all the commands in the last code box at the end of the following post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63829295&postcount=27
(Much thanks to workdowg for this step)
5) Type "exit 0" to exit the shell in CWM recovery, then type "adb reboot"
6) Wait for my phone to reboot to Android
7) Type "adb devices", and now I see that I have adb connection to Android
After this, I was also able to successfully run Android Screencast with my phone. I can see my screen again!
So now, everyone please help me think of some useful search tags for this post / thread.

I'll have to remember that, I wasn't aware of the difference in 4.1.2, I've not had to deal with 4.1.2, that's good to know.
Glad you got it going, now see if you can find one of your devices on eBay that is no longer working in one or another but still has a good digitizer and glass, you may find one cheap, then you can use the digitizer+glass from the used one to fix the one you are using.

That's a really good idea, which I didn't even consider. (Maybe because I've never meddled with hardware before.)
Thanks!
Ok maybe my original post was too long and wasn't read. So I started this thread in hopes I could get some help. My tablet should have 16GB storage but its only showing just over 3GB. The nand storage area on the tablet will not mount for me but is shown in the settings / storage area. when I click mount it tries to mount but less than a second later it fails to mount.
Also I was hoping either I could get help with creating a custom lolipop rom for the tablet. I will provide any of the files from the tablet needed that I can.
I've put the original post in the second post.
I got this tablet five days ago. All was going good until I used Kingoroot to root the tablet. After rooting I quickly realised that with Kingoroot installed and applied I was still not getting full root access with a few apps so I decided to try and get full root access by editing the build.prop. After editing a few settings and reboot after tweaking a setting I still wasn't getting full root access. Then I edited a wrong setting and the tablet got stuck in a boot loop.
I spent ten hours trying all kinds of tricks to push the fixed build.prop back to the tablet with no access so I asked on different forums (Including XDA) for help. Thanks to Oma over at ArcTablet (He is a member of XDA too) who helped me get CWM onto the tablet and the fixed build.prob on to the tablet I finally got the tablet to boot into the OS again. Here's a link to the forum thread where he helped me
http://www.arctablet.com/blog/forum/...-soft-bricked/
So now I have CWM on the tablet and after a few more tweaks I finally got full root access. That was all good until lastnight when I was watching a youtube video and the tablet rebooted all of a sudden for no reason. The tablet refused to boot into the OS again. So I tried applying a CWM backup I had taken earlier but it stops at SDCard/Android Secure which it says does not exist.
I finally got the tablet to boot into android OS again but some apps refuse to install and some apps close straight away. Also the Nand partition will no longer mount. It shows that it exists in the settings but when I press mount it tries to mount but fails to mount less than a second later.
So to get to why I started this thread is to see if any of you guys would be kind enough to offer help here. Also maybe we could work together and get a custom rom working on the tablet. I can't find anything for this tablet online so this is a start.
If you guys need me to supply any more details then let me know. I don't know where the best place is to upload files either.
Did you managed to fix it? I know it's been a long long time but could you detail what you've done to install cwm and root?
Hope you can help me I was thinking on using this tablet as a wall panel.
Okay so I've had this phone for little over 10 months now and within that time I've managed to achieve root (unreliable but it works at the very least) in that time as well as learned a fair amount about Linux and android alike (Not a whole lot but I know some stuff) though I've now come to the point of I actually want to give my phone a proper root instead of this faulty solution I have currently. I (barely) managed to get my phone rooted using Kingoroot and I've played plenty with my phones' innards in that time, removed system apps, added my own selection to the system but some apps in my phone that use root don't work even with root permission granted which is why I'm wanting to replace Kingoroot with ChainFires' SuperSU binaries, could anybody help me with simple instructions for someone who doesn't actually know very much regarding how root and SU bins work inside of android? My phone's using 4.4.2 kitkat.
Just a few disclaimers first to get misconceptions out the way:
1. I do not have a custom recovery nor is one available for my phone (Samsung galaxy young 2 (SM-S130H) for those who want to know)
2. I'm currently unable to use the internet on my phone as I lack Wi-Fi to do so (router is dead) so I'm manually installing app packages through ADB, so if something needs an internet connection on my phone it's not going to work for me, for now..PC still has net access.
3. I have access to ADB shells' SU but not ADB root so I hope you don't need that from me.
4. This phone does not have a fastboot mode. (That I can find anyway..) Only a download mode from what I've found.
Can anybody help me out with telling me what I'll need to be doing in regards to getting this done?
