[Q] Need help with a completely wiped OPO and locked bootloader - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
I did a mistake and completely wiped my OPO.
When booting it is going to Cyanogenmod Recovery.
"fastboot oem unlock" rebooting the device but not actually unlocking it, so I can't flash anything to it using fastboot.
adb is unable to work as well as there is no option to authorize it and I'm keep getting "error close" messages.
Went through all guides, tools and solutions I could find but until now non of them worked for me.
On the device itself everything is wiped including OS, system, cache, data, nothing left on it (at least not that I can find).
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks.

Wiped too many files. How to recover.

So, newb me did a bad thing. I managed to install TWRP Recovery on my Nexus 5 to attempt rooting it. It didn't work a t first so I tried cleaning up some existing data. I did a factory reset, a format data, and... drumroll... advanced wipe, where I selected everything.
When I went to reboot, TWRP told me there was no OS.
I've already downloaded the stock KitKat for my device and the sdk tools (and even the unified android toolkit found here in the forums). I couldn't find a way to flash stock yet
It seems my device does not connect on USB in ADB mode, it only shows Recovery mode. Trying "fastboot flash" gets stuck on "< waiting for device >". Using "adb devices" shows something like "some_number recovery".
Any suggestions? I can do adb shell but I don't know how to restore the files I deleted without flashing or how to make flashing work.
Thanks a lot
Someone resolved this same issue. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2533148
That worked like a charm.
Thanks a lot!

Nexus 5 bricked after 5.1.1. Any hope for my data?

Hi all!
After updating to the latest 5.1.1 my Nexus won't boot, getting stuck at the Google logo.
It keeps showing the following error: E: failed to mount /cache (No such file or directory). among others related to such partition.
I tried wiping the cache partition, but the phone still won't boot.
My main priority at the moment is recovering the pictures from my last trip. So I'd rather not do a factory reset for now.
I tried pulling the data with adb but I keep getting an error: closed message. It does not matter whether I use Windows, Linux or OS X. I just can't seem to even be able to run adb ssh.
Is there still hope for my data?
Any help or insight would be highly appreciated. Thank you!
If your bootloader is unlocked try flashing the cache image from the factory image with fastboot.

Another reason to always have a nandroid backup, or backup to google drive, or backup to your PC.
You don't mention HOW you updated, ota or flashed download? You dont mention if you have a custom recovery on the phone? These are all essential to even begging to try to help you. If you had a custom recovery you could just MTP and get the pictures, so I'll assume you don't. If you don't and adb isn't working you're probably SOL.

Hi!
it was an OTA update. I haven't rooted the phone nor do I have a custom recovery bootloader. I didn't enable USB debug mode.

Is your bootloader unlocked? If not then brace yourself because you are going to lose your data to get the device working again.

Moto G Bricked?

Hi.
A friend gave me his Moto G1 2013 to install Linage OS but I'm really having troubles with it, first of all it doesn't allow me to install TWRP, when I type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img it says that it installs but it doesn't, when I try to boot on it it just doesn't boot, the way I had access to TWRP was typing fastboot boot recovery.img...
When I got in I did the first step when you install a new Custom ROM that is wipe system, cache and dalvik cache, then I tried to install the ROM zip file but it gave me "error 7" I looked for solutions and I found one that is modifying updater-script file, I did it but it gave me another error about mount system, I looked for solutions too and I found one that is modifying file system format to anotherone and then bringing it back to the original format but still having the same error.
After that I decided to go back to stock ROM, I have flashed many times the stock ROM with fastboot commands but it just doesn't boot into the OS, when I try to boot the phone it boots into bootloader again... Any solution to this? Is it a hardware problem? Please help me I'm so embarrased with my friend.
Same thing happened to me!

Hi! I tried something similar with a similar result. I first unlocked my Moto G's bootloader. Then installed TWRP using fastboot. After that I tried flashing Resurrection Remix rom which failed. I've been stuck in a kind of bootloop since then. My handset powers up, finds something wrong, tries to go into recovery, fails and does this over and over again.
Since I am able to boot into bootloader mode, I tried to flash the stock rom by following instructions from this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47820707#post47820707
I have tried different variations from many different forums (fora?) all with the same result. Still stuck in the bootloop-thingie.
Btw, I also tried the unbricking guide from this thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/help/how-to-unbrick-moto-g-falcon-t3394788 without any success. My phone shows up as a Motorola ADB device and also as XT1033 in Device Manager when its plugged in.
Anyone know anything to help me out?

Hi, I found the solution time ago, sorry for answering to late, hope I can still be helpful.
Well, what I did is, I booted into TWRP, then I did a total format to the storage, after that I did something kind of crazy, I switched my storage format to anotherone and then I turned it back to how it was before (example: I was on fat32, I switched to exFAT and then I switched again to fat32) after doing that I tried to flash LinageOS and it allowed me, it booted and now my friend has Android Oreo on his Moto G1
Hope it works for you mate, those situations are very frustrating, good luck

Samsung Nexus S is stuck in "Google" bootloop

Hi guys, I'm normally the one who reads these forums, not starts them, so i'm in pretty desperate help.
I have a Samsung Nexus S phone that somehow got stuck in a bootloop after my dad attempted to fix the problem by wiping everything he could from the recovery; cache, system, data, factory reset. I am able to access fastboot (obviously). In fastboot mode, the only 4 options it gives are POWER OFF, REBOOT, RECOVERY, REBOOT BOOTLOADER. None of these options leads to any progress. Only one that makes sense is to click and run recovery. When recovery loads, i can:
Reboot system now
apply update from ADB
apply update from sd card
wipe/factory reset
wipe cache partition
I recently rooted and custom ROMed my Galaxy J7 Pro, and as you experts may know it wasn't too easy finding the correct files or even the support for it.
I know you have to have developer options enabled and OEM and USB Debugging as the prereqs for rooting, but this phone has nothing. I'm not sure what to do. The bootloader is locked and I obviously can't enable developer options. I guess where I'm stuck is how i can flash a custom recovery like twerp for a phone that has a locked bootloader that can't be unlocked through developer options.
As I'm writing this, i was thinking, can i prepare an SD card with the lollipop OS for the nexus to install and run on. Ive already wiped the internals and cache of the phone, meaning there is nothing on it?
Help would be appreciated, bringing back a phone that has the potential (working hardware) to run would be great.
Just do a manual restore using the google factory images (google them, first result usually and a VERY user friendly page, thanks google!).
Don't use the script, just reformat everything via fastboot, then manually flash the images to their respective partitions.
"cd [path to unzipped images]"
"fastboot format /[partition] ext4"
"fastboot flash /[partition] [path to image]"
and so on and so on. Then after, "fastboot reboot". I assume you've found a fix by now but maybe someone else will stumble on this. Keep in mind, I'm writing this from memory and with no drivers or way to test this on my mac, my Nexus S is coming in the mail soon so take what I say with a grain of salt and try to double check the commands. For the most part however, they should be correct. format, reflash, reboot. All you should have to do.

I have the same problem.I know this was 4 years ago but as a noob I find that guides tend to assume greater levels of knowledge than I have. Trying to bypass FRP as I think this is what is causing the "system error" message when I try to access play store or Google plus. I haven't even been able to unlock bootloader or root phone . In fact I find "fastboot" and ADB downloads a mystery? How to get them to work?

Backup Pixel 3 with TWRP before erasure

(I've searched around quite a bit in this forum and have not been able to answer the below question. Any assistance would be very appreciated.)
I am attempting to take a recovery/backup of a Pixel 3 using TWRP. I do not need to flash TWRP, just boot from it to perform the backup. Meaning, I don't care if TWRP is installed permanently.
The problem I am running into is that I need to unlock the bootloader before I can boot TWRP. And if I unlock the bootloader, the data on the device will be erased.
My question is: If I unlock the bootloader, will I be able to boot back into fastboot mode, and thus boot into TWRP, before the erasure occurs? And if to, how do I perform this? (I presume that if I hold the volume down button it will before rebooting it will go back into fastboot mode.)
I would rather not erase the phone. But if there is no other way I at least need the backup before the erasure occurs.
Thanks in advance for any assistance provided.
UPDATE: I found this thread, possibly it might work for a Pixel 3?
I am sorry I am of no help.... I only chimed in to say I could never get a working version of TWRP when I went to look for it on blueline. All I could get was Lineage Recovery so I have no idea if there is a way to backup before the wipe...
