Hi.
A friend gave me his Moto G1 2013 to install Linage OS but I'm really having troubles with it, first of all it doesn't allow me to install TWRP, when I type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img it says that it installs but it doesn't, when I try to boot on it it just doesn't boot, the way I had access to TWRP was typing fastboot boot recovery.img...
When I got in I did the first step when you install a new Custom ROM that is wipe system, cache and dalvik cache, then I tried to install the ROM zip file but it gave me "error 7" I looked for solutions and I found one that is modifying updater-script file, I did it but it gave me another error about mount system, I looked for solutions too and I found one that is modifying file system format to anotherone and then bringing it back to the original format but still having the same error.
After that I decided to go back to stock ROM, I have flashed many times the stock ROM with fastboot commands but it just doesn't boot into the OS, when I try to boot the phone it boots into bootloader again... Any solution to this? Is it a hardware problem? Please help me I'm so embarrased with my friend.
Same thing happened to me!

Hi! I tried something similar with a similar result. I first unlocked my Moto G's bootloader. Then installed TWRP using fastboot. After that I tried flashing Resurrection Remix rom which failed. I've been stuck in a kind of bootloop since then. My handset powers up, finds something wrong, tries to go into recovery, fails and does this over and over again.
Since I am able to boot into bootloader mode, I tried to flash the stock rom by following instructions from this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47820707#post47820707
I have tried different variations from many different forums (fora?) all with the same result. Still stuck in the bootloop-thingie.
Btw, I also tried the unbricking guide from this thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/help/how-to-unbrick-moto-g-falcon-t3394788 without any success. My phone shows up as a Motorola ADB device and also as XT1033 in Device Manager when its plugged in.
Anyone know anything to help me out?

Hi, I found the solution time ago, sorry for answering to late, hope I can still be helpful.
Well, what I did is, I booted into TWRP, then I did a total format to the storage, after that I did something kind of crazy, I switched my storage format to anotherone and then I turned it back to how it was before (example: I was on fat32, I switched to exFAT and then I switched again to fat32) after doing that I tried to flash LinageOS and it allowed me, it booted and now my friend has Android Oreo on his Moto G1
Hope it works for you mate, those situations are very frustrating, good luck
Hey, I know this is an unusual thread, thats because I have searched through forums as much as I could and was not able to find the solution to my problem. Well after wiping my device, I tried installing the latest LineageOS 15.1 for my Oneplus One. Halfway through the installation, it says there is an error executing the update binary and it also displays another message which is as follows : "E3004 This package is for device: bacon,A0001; this device is ."
By opening the updater-script located in, zip file/META-INF/com/google/android, I was able to find out that after 'this device is ' it is supposed to display my device name and then there should be a '.'
But instead it doesn't display anything, leading me to conclude that somehow my device has gotten erased. I was later able to install the ROM just by changing a line in the updater-script, which checks for device name as "bacon" or "A0001" and instead change one of those to " ". Now the problem is that I'm trying to install GApps and I am facing the same issue with update binary and I also think the ROM was installed incompletely (I could not turn on WiFi, although it could work after installing GApps). So please let me know if there is a way to rename my device to A0001 or bacon so I can flash files without facing these issues.
I have flashed a firmware update file without any error but it did not fix my problem. I would also like to point out that I am not using the latest TWRP. Last I updated TWRP was about 2-3 years ago. I have the latest TWRP's .img downloaded. Do I just flash this .img file from TWRP to update it? Or do I have to update it through my PC?
I know I'm asking 2 questions here, but my main priority is to restore my device name so I could flash files in the future. Thanks.
Nvm, I just had to update TWRP. U can flash TWRP within TWRP. Just go to install and change to Image on the bottom right-hand side. Select the TWRP image file and select "Recovery". After that just rebbot to Recovery, you will boot into your updated TWRP.

Welcome on xda! This is the right way. If you find a problem search the solution. If you can't find it ask for a solution. If you find the solution on your own, post it also here. Perhaps you can help other users with the same problem.
Not m many "Junior members"make their homework as good as you did those days.
Always remember, update your recovery when flashing new roms. Welcome to xda, it's great of you to post the solution to your problem as well!

Lifesaver Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am facing now the same problem on my xperia z3 compact. it shows me that my device is " " (blank) then the dot like it cannot read it. but if i read it through adb then it shows name as D5803 (so its still not z3c displayed but at least not blank name. however D5803 and z3c are the same).
I have tried 4 different versions of twrp for the same xperia z3 compact and still no luck
Hello,
I'm trying to install lineage-15.1-20180918 on my new (second hand) Google Pixel (sailfish). It came with Android 7.1.0 (NDE63H, Oct 2016) pre-installed.
No mater what I try to do, after installing Lineage zip file, I always get a warning saying that there is no OS. When I try to reboot to System, I am stuck in a boot loop between a screen saying that I should lock the bootloader and another one displaying the Google logo.
General information about device and softwares used
I run Debian on the PC that is used for the install, adb (v 1:7.0.0+r33-1) and fastboot (v 1:7.0.0+r33-1) are installed.
I got the Lineage zip from there (the shasum is good).
I got the TWRP image from there (v 3.2.3-1).
What I did
I followed the official howto there.
I have unlocked the bootloader, can boot into the TWRP recovery.
TWRP is launched via
Code:
fastboot boot twrp-3.2.3-1-sailfish.img
I did "Format Data", then "Advanced Wipe" (selected everything and wiped).
Then
Code:
adb push lineage-15.1-20180918-nightly-sailfish-signed.zip /sdcard/
(Note that I first tried to sideload both this zip and the suaddon one, given that it didn't seem to work, I wiped everything out again and went with the adb push method)
And, finally, went back to the "Install" menu, selected the zip and launched the install process (without checking the "Verify signature checkbox").
I managed to restore the initial backup created with TWRP, the system booted normally. I then tried a LOS install again and got stuck into a boot loop again.
Problem
At the end of this process, when offered with a swipe gesture to reboot, there is a warning saying that no OS is installed. Swiping to reboot leads to the reboot loop described above.
Any idea on what I can do to fix this issue?
Huge thank you in advance!
Have you tried installing the latest stock ROM first? There may be an incompatibility with other parts of the 7.1.0 ROM, like the modem, etc.

I did not. But there were other issues as well (I used outdated version of adb and fastboot), I followed the instructions there (due to the stupid rule for new users, I can't post a direct link to it) old.reddit.com/r/LineageOS/comments/9h0aqy/cant_install_lineage15120180918_on_a_google_pixel/e6nbqg6/ and it worked
Prerequisite
1. Unlocked Bootloader
2. OrangeFox Recovery or TWRP Recovery
3. Latest adb & fastboot files
4. Stock ROM ZIP files
5. Stock Recovery [OPTIONAL]
Custom Recovery Method:
1. Enable USB-Debugging: adb reboot recovery or hold the volume up while rebooting or hold the volume down to enter bootloader & choose Reboot to Recovery by volume buttons, power key to enter.
2. Copy the Stock ROM zip to your device via adb push RMX1851_flashable_*.zip /sdcard or MTP
3. Wipe data, cache & dalvik (format data if stuck at boot animation)
4. Locate the zip file & Install
5. Flashing all the partitions with stock files takes time. Hold for a while.
6. After successful install of the zip. Your device will have Stock Recovery with Stock ROM. Finally Reboot.
Fastboot Method:
Note: Following process formats internal storage, so backup the internal storage files. If your device is in Stock ROM & somehow system partition is messed up just flash only system.
1. Download required Fastboot files
2. If downloaded 7z files, extract system.img file.
3. Enter
Code:
fastboot -w && fastboot erase system && fastboot flash recovery recovery.img && fastboot flash boot boot.img && fastboot flash vbmeta vbmeta.img && fastboot flash dtbo dtbo.img && fastboot flash system system.img && fastboot reboot
4. It takes a while to flash System partition, have patience.
5. Device reboots to system if everything is flashed successfully.
Stock Recovery Method:
1. Download Stock ROM OZIP Files & Stock Recovery
2. Copy *.ozip to sdcard or internal storage.
2. Goto fastboot & enter fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
3. Reboot to recovery, wipe (1st option). Then go back to main menu Install from storage locate the *.ozip file & install.

I followed this guide, everything went smooth, magisk was also installed and rooted. But I tried setting fingerprint and set lock pin, But it says wrong pin everytime, so i had to reset the phone again. I used the same method above. But this time magisk won't install no matter how many times I reset my phone using the above method. So I thought if I could revert back to stock, maybe I can root and install magisk again. So i followed your guide.
After installing the stock zip and reboot to system, it stuck on bootloop(realme logo), then I flash back using the above method again, I can log in to the phone, and red notification says root has been detected, but magisk is not installed, ive tried many things but still i cannot install magisk. I've tried your guide 2/3 bootloop everytime. What could be the problem? I am not very much of a tech genus :'(

ok no problem, so what do you want to know about? Clear data, cache, dalvik after or before flashing stock zip it won't bootloop. Yes, since device is decrypted lock screen doesn't work. Coming to Magisk, yes that method is not reliable. I have figured out 100% working way which works for everyone & doesn't fail anytime. Maybe I will make a new guide soon or ...Mod edit: Link to Telegram removed

no that's not how magisk works in Realme 3 Pro, if device is restarted there will be no magisk. You need to goto fastboot then goto recovery, it boots to system. We have magisk. Yes this method tricky. I am going to publish new guide, it will be simple & straight forward.

I have seen you have started a new thread of bootloop. Is this because you flashed one of these stock zip? you were going back to stock from los?
this method worked perfectly fine for me. i tried both lineage os roms available and both of them caused bootloop or end up destroying boot. so thanks to developer for making this zip file.

bootloop to recovery? have you tried fastboot -w usually this should boot to system or else flash stock recovery, wipe full. This should definitely get back the device to system.

Need Help
Hi, everybody. Really need help.
There is a phone Realme X Lite. Write that it is Realme 3 Pro for the Chinese market, as well as firmware.
My version was: RMX1851_11_A.05
Tried to flash RMX1851EX_11_OTA_0150_all_2Zfcensdoezk.ozip, recovery gave an error, *_0140_* wrote that the current version is newer.
In depth test APK on the version out of the box wrote that this version of the phone is not supported, so the bootloader could not unlock.
But in the official website came across an offer to join the testing of Android Q
r1.realme.net/general/20190522/1558492614147.pdf
There are two files, the second for rollback.
I installed P2Q, everything went well, but the SnapDragon camera is used and it is terrible if there is not enough light. In depth test is not even installed, apparently not supported in the new version.
I decided to roll back, chose in Recovery Q2P archive, there were no errors, but after rebooting the phone hangs on the initial screen saver and after 10 minutes throws in the recovery with the error "Data error, select wipe data to recovery system". Wipe doesn't help. The same with other archives for Realme 3 Pro.
Also found RMX1851_11_A.12_190423_abecd1fa.ofp for firmware via MsmDownloadTool, but it requires authorization and support refuses to call login details.
Can who faced a similar problem on this or other phone.
Please help, pay for the time spent =)

since your bootloader is locked, all you can do is wipe full data or flash back P2Q then format & then flash Q2P.

I did Wipe before and after firmware, on P2Q is stitched without problems, but under firmware in Q2P in recovery writes, that not managed wipe userdata. The data was not encrypted, the password is not asked.
do you have video for Fastboot Method ?

Hello everyone,
The starting situation is the Google Pixel of my mother was stuck on android 8.0. While showing there was an update available, the update would always fail to install after the reboot in the process. I found advice to factory reset the phone and then update, but this didn't help.
So my first thought was, if the update won't install the normal way I will do it manually. Google OTA installation guide says, get file (latest), reboot to recovery, plug in to USB, choose apply update by adb.
At this point the guide loses me, because the recovery screen I get to only lists reboot, reboot bootloader, simlock tool and device info tool (see picture). The device info will only tell "failed to update device info". The simlock tool just says "failed to enable simlock". Further while on this screen the phone isn't visible as an ADB device any more.
Next thing to try cause this didn't work was getting the image file (latest) from Google and flashing it through fastboot flash all, which led to a boot loop and the phone not starting at all. So I went and flashed back to the android 8 that was on it before and the phone booted again, but I'm still not any step further.
Next idea was maybe the recovery is broken somehow, so I went to install TWRP. Following the instructions I copied the latest version zip onto the phone and booted the img through fastboot. So far everything is fine, but when I install the zip I will get several errors about "can't mount /persist". And the installation won't work.
At this point I am out of ideas, so maybe someone here can tell me if and how this can be fixed? I wasn't able to find any information on this issue, aside from some xiaomi phones can show similar errors with the /persist partition and TWRP.
Any help would be welcome.
