BLACK SCREEN ON RECOVERY Mode - General Questions and Answers

Coolpad note 3 went blank screen after flashing stock rom
pls help....
thanks in advance

I don't understand, is your recovery mode not loading up or is your rom not loading?
If your rom won't load, I'd try clearing your cache from your recovery or adb.
I'm unfortunately still sopping wet behind my ears so I can't help much more without t knowing the steps you followed to flash the rom.
Edit upon further googling :
If this happened from the flashing of one single rom, its most likely due to an incompatible Rom. You may end up having to reflash all of the stock firmware

Assistance! ROM and Recovery both won't boot!

I was trying to install EagleBlood ROM to run Gingerbread on G2x, and followed all instuctions, installing ROM manager, using that to flash to their recovery, then deleting caches, then flashing the ROM. After a reboot, EagleBlood is stuck on a bootloop, displaying an image of and android surrounded by a sparkly blue circle. If I take out the battery and then try to boot into recovery, the recovery image is displayed for a while, but then resets and goes back to rebooting without opening recovery. I am very scared that I may have bricked my brand new phone and do not want to pay for a repair. Any help is very much appreciated.

I would suggest that you NVflash clockworkmod by reading the thread here. Once you do that, you can access your recovery via volume down and power. If you do not have CWM installed via NVflash, for now, you should be able to reset everything by pressing the volume down and power to restore your phone to a factory state.
Thank you very much for that tool! Booted up the recovery and am currently recovering from earlier today on the stock ROM. If this is my last post, it was a success!

Now, when you install a rom through CWM, i would suggest wiping data (if you are switching between roms) and cache. This will prevent you from going into bootloops. I would also suggest after flashing a new rom, going into CWM > Advanced > Fix Permissions. You should now be golden.

[Q] Caught in bootloop (Unable to get to ROM Manager)

Hello! I tried installing a new kernel on my G2X from this thread. I used the CM DL over the DS.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1073626
I believe I made the mistake of clearing all cache instead of just the Davlik Cache and am unable to get ROM Manager as I fear I may have wiped it from my phone. Subsequently I am stuck in a boot loop after the LG screen loads and just get a black screen.
I tried flashing my ROM back to Stock ROM from NVFlash and was able to do that successfully. I could not continue with the steps in the thread below past Step 5 as I just get a black screen after the LG logo loads.

Did I permanently brick my phone or is there a way to recover from this? Thanks for any help!
You need to flash cwm 5020 with the nv flasher. Then you can install any rom you want and boot successfully. It sounds like you are not installing a real recovery. Any other questions just PM me or email at [email protected]. You are not bricked.

Can you please be more specific?
What screen are you exactly getting, the boot logo then a reboot? are you getting a recovery screen or do you bootloop not into the system but into ClockworkMod recovery?
The boot boot logo then restart. same thing with the stock rom it would boot into the Rogers logo then restart
Have you tried formatting through recovery? formatting can be found in mounts and storage.
yup, when I get back home I'll see if I can darkside wipe. see if that will help
That should help a lot. It should definitely work, make sure you install a Custom ROM and not a Stock ROM.
Make sure in future situations you don't install a stock ROM if your current ROM is a custom ROM, this can cause problems and will not fix problems. If you want to revert back to Stock ROMs after installing a Custom ROM I highly recommend you use Fastboot to flash the image. However there are tutorials and instructions on how to use Fastboot efficiently and properly so you don't mess anything up.
Cheers
Thanks again, darkside wipe worked. I have no clue what bricked it in the first place though

No problem Wiping everything would've worked too lol!

HELP!!! Device stuck in bootloop after installing any rom

Hi, I am currently using a Note 4 SM-N910F on 5.1.1.
I decided it was time for a change so I followed the steps for flashing a custom ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/note...ote-5-t3220106. However I did everything correct but when I got to the stage of flashing the ROM I would reboot and it would get stuck in bootloop. I have tried wiping cache, Dalvik cache and factory reset. The only way to fix it was to flash stock firmware with Odin. But then I am just back where I started, so I tried flashing other ROM's but I had the exact same problem. Whatever ROM I flash I get stuck in infinite bootloop. In these bootloops I can get into recovery mode and download mode.
I am currently using custom recovery TWRP. I have also tried using Philz Recovery but it also has the same problem.
Please help me, I've done so much research for 3 constant days at least 6 hours each day just trying to fix the problem.
All I want to do is flash a custom ROM. I am able to root the phone without getting into bootloop. But, when I proceed to flash any ROM it puts my phone into bootloop.

Mi4i Stucked in Bootloop

I attempted to switch custom rom and end up in a brick situation.
What actually happened:
I rooted my device and installed twrp successfully.
Then I found this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-4i/development/rom-lineageos-15-0-t3671815
I was really interested in switching to custom rom and downloaded all necessary stuff.
(Here comes my mistake) I boot to twrp and flashed the latest firmware (8.1.5.0), wipe cache, latest rom build (LOS 15.1),wipe cahe, gapps, wipe cache and reboot to system. (all process altogether)
Now device stucked at MI logo and never booted to system again. And unable to boot to twrp mode too.
What i tried to resolve(but failed):
Device was showing lineage battery icon but nothing else was happening. So i decided to return back. I flashed my device with latest stock flashboot rom "ferrari_global_images_V9.2.3.0.LXIMIEK_20180414.0000.00_5.0_global_680c582f20" and successfully flashed it as while charging i got led light back and stock battery icon but issue remain the same. Stucked at boot loop.
I also tried Fastboot Flash Through CMD-Prompt https://in.c.mi.com/thread-334-1-0.html
But still not working. I think it must be due to firmware upgrade to oreo and if downgrade is possible, issue can be resolved but not sure and don't really know how to execute that.
Please help me in solving this issue and whatever suggestion you give please provide proper guidance or link to guidance as I'm still new to all this.
