Hi there.
Trying to find an answer to this, but haven't managed so far.
I created my own set of POI's for all the local squash clubs where I live (amounts to 32 clubs). I saved as an OV2 file, created a nice image, and uploaded to POIHandler.com.
Unfortunately, when I try to put them in the correct folder, it crashed my XDAiis, and I have to soft re-set. This crash only occurs when I start TOMTOM, but I have to delete the West Squash OV2 and .bmp files to get any joy again.
Anyone know of any reason this would happen?
On this note though, I hoped that POIhandler would update their lists that POIedit uses, but no joy. Anyone know how often they update things? I can get it from their site, but I'd like to have it available as an auto-update thing through POIedit (for other users, not me - I'm not THAT dumd and lazy..... yet).
I've uploaded the files in question. Let me know if you can't get them.
Jsedit
have you copied then to the storage card using poi edit if use poi edit to copy them
Ah, sussed it.
Turns out it was the .bmp file that was causing the problem. Don't know why, or what happened the first time - but when I re-saved it as a 256 color .bmp file, it all worked again.
Thanks for your help anyway.

Hi,
I have just installed tomtom 5 on my pda. looks good. I have changed my home location and added some favourites and changed some POI. if i exit out of tomtom and then go back in, all my changes are lost.
Does anyone know why and if there is a way to get round this??
Thanks in advance
H
thats weird, i have no problem with my tom tom and its cracked, are you using a legit one? and how have you installed the files, did you put the files on the defult directory being your mmc and not in folders?? if you are not using legit one you might have to download another one else where or download it again.

You do exit in the correct way dont you?
Make sure all the files are not 'read only'...
yes I exit the correct way. how do I check if the files are read only?? and if they are, how do I change them??

hamzar,
Make sure your SD card is not locked, and delete the (map_name).cfg file in the map folder. Next time you start tomtom, the file is recreated. Should sort it, jobs a good'un, etc.

dear all!!!
really it's so hard to restore many pimbackup.pib files on a device...
i have been searching for an extracor, or kind of emulator that alow me to view the backuped file on my pc...
thankyou
best regards...
moiisse
If I remember correctly, you can rename the .PIB file as a .ZIP and then look at it with your "favourite archive tool".... Within the ZIP/PIB file there are loads of CSV format files for each of the messages/contacts/phone logs etc.
The only problem may/might/will be if you did the PIM backup in binary format; your best bet would be to post on the PIMbackup thread (here) and see if Dotfred or anyone else can help
Cheers,
Mark.
Dear Mark
I have tried this trick but the files I got were not .CSV one some other extension files. I am afraid if I am doing anything wrong.
The extension is not .CSV, but they are in CSV format. If you rename them to .CSV and open them with Microsoft Excel or Openoffice Calc (or whatever), they can be imported as semicolon delimited files (so strictly speaking, they're SSV - "Semicolon Separated Values" rather than CSV )
Hope that helps,
Mark.
That was a great tip!
Any idea how to import these into an Android Phone - just got an HTC Hero today. Took a backup of my existing contacts, sms etc from WM6.5 (HTC Touch HD) and could see the .pib (renamed as .zip) and individual files (which I renamed as .csv)..
Guess there might be a simple trick to restore them as well in HTC Hero?
I think I may have found something........

I was about to say I have no idea and I don't really care (about Android phones that is, not your problem getting your messages onto your Hero!), but then.......
I found this - Sprite Software's FREE (at the moment) migration software - which looks like the answer to your prayers
I've seen a report from someone who used it - apparently, it's pretty slow, but as it's a "one-time" transfer operation.....who cares how long "free" takes!!!???
Let us know how you get on - and post something in the Android-related forums so that other users can benefit.....
Cheers,
Mark.
(At times like this, I wish I had a Paypal "donate" button.....this gem of wisdom is surely worth a buck/quid/euro or two ....Ho hum!!!)
Excellent! That seems to be promising!
Just tried using that and tried to restore only the sms on my android, however it gave an error. Have emailed sprite software the relevant log file, lets see if they come up with the reason of failure. Guess it might have something to do with the threaded view on my win mob 6.5
PS : Paypal donate button shudn't be that difficult to get
And yes just thought that I would mention about the contacts - its actually very easy - just get them into csv file using the trick that you mentioned above and then import the csv file in gmail contacts! that's it! gmail automatically syncs the contacts thereafter!

Hi Mark (Am I Noob to Android)
It seems like, you have solved the issue here. I did have one question for you:
What if you allready had a PIM back of your old phone. Then the phone you have sold it. But you still the the PIM backup file on your SD card. Can you still go on to follow and start from 2 step and then step 3.
Or is the another way of doing this then?
Many Thanks.
yes u should be able too as long as the PIM file is on your SD card. you can just directly transfer it onto your PC, then rename it to a ZIP file and proceed as instructed above.

that is what I got also, I tried importing data to excel (with / without renaming to csv or ssv) but the text was not understandable in any language so I did not even proceed in selecting the separator and actually import the data.

Come on guys read a little more on the web, if you would have done so you would have figured out you have the binary backup files, not the text file, so what you need to do is convert. Now if you press the search button for the forum you would have found this interesting link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=424641
the title says: 'Convert PIM Backup binary file to text without using windows mobile device'
(considering yours broke like mine)
You can read there that you can convert it to a text file using an emulator on your pc and subsequentlyfollow the steps that were described here...
First of all what makes you think that none has bothered to use search button or at least Google the issue?
Second and last ok you have proved us stupid.
Anyway thanks for the link even though a late reply cause personally I have solved my issues.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA app.

Your lucky that it worked when you uninstalled it, I had to hard reset my device... I was bummin... alas.. no good info for you...
Rename these 2 files in your windows directory on phone:
BtCoreIf.dll
BtSdkCE30.dll
(for example: "BtCoreIf.old" "BtSdkCE30.old")
then reset, it will fix them.
This should be a "sticky" topic! I've seen it come up so many times over the past few weeks.
Thank you very much everyone. Tom Tom is working and bluetooth as well.
Now TomTom still has a lag. I was using v 7.915 and the lag redicolous. So I reseached on here and found that some people had luck with the v 7.916 so I updated to that. Tonight I was driving and the lag was better than before but it was still about 1 mile behind than where I actually was. For example I would be at the exit and it would say in one mile take the exit. I already did the quickgps program update and it didnt help. Am I missing something? I

They are there in the windows directory... In my folder they are about 1/3 the way down. They are not next to each other though. You will have to scroll a little further down for the second one. I use File Exporer and they are literally right inside of the windows directory.
cool
had to activate the "show all files"
got it now and all sorted.
got the fm radio working now
thanks all

no need if you do the BtCoreIf.dll BtSdkCE30.dll when fixing 7.916.9192 cab with fixed bluetooth
I have the same problem.
But i can not delete those two files. Also try to rename them with Total Commander but it is not possible.
I already did a hard reset and then install TomTom cab without these two files but the problem is still there. When my bluetooth is on I dont have send on my TomTom. When i close my Bluetooth it works ok.
What can I do to solve the problem?? Because my bluetooth has to be on in my car.
I dont understand that other problem can rename or delete these 2 files and if I want to do this it is not working Why ?
What program i have to use to rename those 2 files ???
Please help
Any chance you could repost the .CAB as an attachment? I can't access megaupload from work and when I try to download it with my phone it always says that I've exceeded the download limit (likely because somebody else on Telus is downloading something else...)

i believe the maximum cab upload limit here is 9mb... tomtom is 14mb... hence the reason it's on megaupload
Hello together!
After installing TomTom on my HD2 the internal Bluetooth-function doesn´t work...as far as I know it is recommended to rename/delete the following files to fix this issue:
BTTrayCE.exe, BtSdkCE30.dll and BtCoreIf.dll
But in fact I can´t rename/delete any of these files...tried with windows explorer, TotalCommander and the HD2 Explorer (I don´t know if they are in use?! according to the task mangager they aren´t)
So could anybody please upload these 3 files from a working HD2 Device?
I renamed BtSdkCE30.dll and deleted BtCoreIf.dll.
For some reason BtSdkCE30.dll was in use, but I was able to rename it.
As far as I know you leave BTTrayCE.exe the way it is.
Done with Total Commander btw.
Maybe restart your HD2 if you can't even rename them, then try again before doing anything else.
Tomtom doesn't list the software as compatible with the HD2...
So i can imagine none of you did buy it and all use a not compatible cracked version. tttttttttttttttt
So now enjoy the dark side !!!!!!

this works with almost any problem situation with tomtom...
preferable, install to memorycard on another device, then run tomtom from card without installing it, cause you put all the files on memorycard already... yes i did buy it for my touch pro...
If you are installing with a cab file,
Install in your storage card and hard reset.
Now, don't install again.Copy tomtomnavigator.exe from program folder in storage card and place a shorcut in windows programs folder.

It's working well on my HD2 without issues.
Hey there!! First, thank you for your answers!
Well, i really don´t want to make a hard reset!! TomTom itself runs very well on the device (and it runs on my device too), my only problem is that the bluetooth will not work as long as these three files have not been deleted or rather been exchanged with the untouched files .
Let me explain that: If files have been deleted, the HD2 will restore them from the rom automaticly after a reboot and everything is fine. Most people who had to handle with the same problem (TomTom vs. Bluetooth) had success with this method, but a few devices deny the access on these files, so they can´t be deleted or renamed. So is mine.
And for this reason I asked for the original files from a working rom! It would make it possible for me to replace my corrupt files...
Has anybody of you guys a few minutes of time an wants to upload the three files please?
It would really make my day!!

If device deny access to files, they cannot be renamed or deleted, you cannot replace them with other files too... (do you tried Resco Explorer?)
I have made a personalized cab of TomTom Navigator which doesn't install the bluetooth-specific files. If needed I can upload it somewhere and give you the link via PM

You mean the device ID?
You can open the ttnavigator.bif with notepad in your PC for the device details.
How I fixed the problem
I had the same problem, so I deleted the three files with resco. Two of the files will "appear" not to be deleted because they are ROM files. The important thing is that you need to have a shortcut to BTTrayCE.exe in \Windows\Startup.
Thanks for the posts!
As I said, it´s not possible to delete the files in my case...thats why i want some original files to exchange them.
...Is nobody out there how wants to upload these three little files for me? ...
I had this, All I did was launch TC, goto \windows do a select bt* delete all files, and it fails to delete most of them, but soon as I did that BT came back to life....
I can't help with the missing files as my device has still to arrive but I read that installing version 7.915.9196 VGA from HTC Iolite works without the bluetooth problem.
hey guys i could really use that bluetooth file.. i sorta messed it up too with the tom tom...
Hey Londontownguy:
Thanks for your suggestion! But as i said above, i really don´t want to hard reset. And the 7.915.9196 VGA from HTC Iolite doesn´t contain the "healthy" files, so an installation without hardreset doesn´t fix the problem.
Now we are two people including phatjesus81...andagain:
...Is nobody out there how wants to upload these three little files?...
myeah..
i cant start my bluetooth anymore because last week after installing tomtom7 i got the error and baleeted BTTrayCE.exe somewhere , even though it is in my \windows\ folder together with the btcore and btsdkce50 dlls.. cant remove those..
so BBTrayCE.exe is in my windows folder right now , and bluetooth wont start.. does that have anything to do with the other two dll's still being there or am i a booboo?
i mean, i totally removed ttn..
so now i'm totally stuck..
