New to international unbranded models.. I just purchased a 920F S6. How do these models get their updates ota? With a tmo 920T you could check update etc but how does an unbranded model work?
Also, I've seen posts about flashing a France firmware to get updates faster. Is there an unbranded version that gets the first updates from Samsung?
Thanks
hi you would need BTU firmware i do believe

Just received an unbranded new 920F that is on C0I9 firmware and appears to be from the UAE. Sammobile shows a QOLK from TIM Italy dated Jan 4 2016.
What is the latest firmware I need without getting carrier specific bloat installed (if possible). I don't want UAE firmware.
Thanks!

Thanks.. Is this branded to a French network with boot logo and bloatware? I'm so confused with with these international versions. Also, how will future updates be delivered? I'm on AT&T.

Hi. Yeah...I'm using international versions now as well. You can get updates via Kies...but I've noticed some regions get updates faster and at different times. I've found just keep track of unbranded and Odin them when u feel like upgrading. My phone was originally UAE...I just turned it into DDE (German) OK2 firmware. Runs great....ZERO bloat. It's awesome. I'm on TMO
France XEF gets fast updates trust me, and about bloadtwares it's good enough for me so is for u i hope, and no special boot logo only the original
cheers
I am unable to flash any firmware with odin without error, can you help?
Hi
I want to know is there any problem if i install G930F firmwares on G930FD using Odin?
Also
For OTA updates which Model is better?
Yes you can, plenty of threads already asking the same question
BTU just got October update (Unbranded United Kingdom)
Hi, i have a s7 edge and the "generic" internation version of the exynos variant was the BTU from Uk, the one that i think got the oficial updates faster.
In the case of the G955F im not sure about that cause i think BTU did not even have the pink screen solution firmware but Netherlands got it before, is PHN the new "generic" faster csc to get the updates for the exynos version like it was with BTU for s7 edge?
Im trying to get the g955f firmware that get the oficial updates faster.
Tnx.

Don't think BTU will be around anymore. I believe XEU is the CSC for UK and Ireland.
PHN is probably a region specific CSC.
Samsung has grouped quite a few CSCs and made a multi-CSC code called OXM, so you can flash whatever (as long as it isn't carrier branded), insert a local SIM card from your country and go through the setup menu as you would normally when you flash a new ROM.
hi folks,
my 930f exynos is currently on marshmallow BLP2, its an XEU csc, unbranded UK. i would like to go back to APC8 firmware. am i right in thinking that i can just flash the official APC8 XEU firmware from sammobile? i thought i could but also got some advice elsewhere that i couldn't because of the bootloader? confused as i thought the bootloader was unlocked on exynos devices.
gary.

Hi mate
As far as i know there should be no problem , 99.99% of the people had no problem some people had issues not downgrading but with some minor functionality
Check here
I say in 2017 because it seems like they're not getting the latest firmware updates recently. Contrary to what made them better than other ROM product codes.
I recently switched to a BTU ROM because I've read that it's the unbranded ROM version for SM-G920F. And that it also receives firmware updates earlier than others. But I also couldn't find much information about the difference between BTU and XEU.
All I know is both of them are unbranded, and contains no carrier add-ons, and are generally preferred overall; if you're not planning on using carrier specific services like Voice over LTE.
Anyone care to explain?

BTU firmware are on phones that come directly from Samsung (unbranded)
XEU firmware are on Sim Free handsets that are generic (unbranded) but not from Samsung.
That's what I've found digging through the forums

Yeah, that's what I found too. But I don't really understand it to be honest. Aren't they basically the same thing? Why would Samsung need to release a separate rom version for unbranded phones that did not come from them directly?

However much I like my s6 this is Samsung you're talking about, they release a million variants of one phone so I have no idea why they would release the different firmwares.
