Help! Saving data on bootloop - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I ve official rom installed on my S6. I just rooted it. Yesterday after my s6 battery was empty I put it on charger and try to turn on but stuck in bootloop. Every time device shows s6 logo and after that splash screen and keeps rebooting and dont want to boot up. I ve tried randomly wiping cache rebooting. turning on of. and nothing. I do not want to do wipe data/factory reset because i do not have backup of data and do not want to lose it. Is there any way to save data? Can I do recovery flashing over Smart Switch without loosing data? Any solution?

any help?
if I flash same stock ROM from odin. will this wipe my data? or is there any way to repair ROM from smart switch without losing data

Stuck in loop boot after wipeing everyhing

Well I rooted my phone and flahsed some ROMs, I mean I installed rom after rom to check the best for me and they kinda ****ed my phone... I mean I get incoming phone calls and I can answer them only if Im in lock screen so its kinda ****ed up.. I want to go back into being rooted but not with costum roms, I wiped everything completly (only internal memory left unwiped) and now I'm stuck in boot loop.. Can you help me?
If you had taken a nandroid backup of the stock rooted rom, now's the time to restore it. If not, then you will need to download the factory images from Here and flash them via fastboot and then flash a custom recovery and root it again.

If you actually wiped everything, it won't boot unless you flashed the stock image/another ROM.
Yes, just flash stock onto it with fastboot. Done. Clean slate.

Xperia mini issue - recovering from boot loop - how to recover data

Ok, so I asked this in XDA Assist but can't post reply there.
This is what happened on my Xperia mini St15i, with firmware 4.1.B.0.587:
1. I turned on Bluetooth and the phone got stuck in infinite boot loop - apparently this is a known bug.
2. I decided to try out CM 9. Installed CWM Recovery and did backup on sd card and flashed CM.
3. I remembered that I did the backup earlier so I thought maybe there is a way to keep my apps and data.
4. I went back to CWM and restored from backup. CM didn't boot then, so I flashed back stock rom with flashtool and booted the phone. The apps and data was there( at least for one app which was very important), but contacts and messages were gone.
So my question is, is there a way to recover ALL user data from the backup? I don't care if it's on stock rom or CM at this point.
I hope some of you knowledgeable people can help!
Many thanks,
Paul
Can someone please help. :crying:
I managed to restore it with all the data by trial and error (I don't know HOW). Then at night the phone lost battery and is back to rebooting forever.
If I restore all via CWM and then flash stock, it boots up saying "Android is upgrading" and then keeps rebooting.
If I do a factory reset via CWM and flash stock rom, the phone is back to factory setting with no data.
WHICH partitions should I recover and which should I flash to retain the data??? HELP :crying:

TWRP Restore Data and/or System = Bootloop

Something happened to my phone and I succeeded to flash it all new with Android 9.0 which I was on.
But when I try restore twrp backup (data and/or System) I always end up with bootloop.
Tried to reflash Magisk too but doesn't help.
Bootloops right back to TWRP after 2 minutes.
Anyone have any ideas on how I can get my data back from the twrp backup?
Tried to official twrp and bmu_sparks.
Thanks.

Same thing happened to me yesterday. If you still have access to TWRP, enter it and wipe everything and install newest oxygen pie zip. TWRP is broken for our devie and backups cannot be trusted I'm afraid. Wish I knew this before.

After restore is complete do not reboot, try the following, it might work,
1-Do not do any wipe,
2-Flash exactly the same ROM which is backed up,
3-Flash twrp,
4-Reboot twrp.
5-Flash Magisk,
8-Reboot system,
In case you are trying to go back from pie to oreo you have to flash roll back rom.
All the best, hope this helps., cheers.
Have tried all that with no luck. But if I do a Factory reset any time after the data restore the phone works but then I dont have any data
This sucks big time.
Have installed all from scratch. Luckly fastboot was working all the time
Some data I could restore with Titanium Backup but not so much I needed/wanted.
Too bad we cant rely on TWRP and its backup/restore feature.

Its good only in the case if you are decrypted, since the time I'm decrypted no such problems, if you want you can try it,

Using TWRP backups on this phone is fun but not impossible. This process works for me.
1. Store backups on something other than the phone (I use an OTG card reader and 128 GB SD card)
2. Use a Fastboot Rom of THE EXACT SAME ROM as the backup and let it do it's thing flashing the phone (it will also wipe the phone in the process, which is why you need to store the backup elsewhere)
3. Boot up the phone and go through the whole process of setting it up. Don't worry about installing all your apps.
4. Install TWRP and Magisk if you used it on the backup.
5. Now restore your TWRP backups - just restore system, data, and boot.
I have done this at least 100 times and it has always worked.
I presume the fastboot rom is not only gonna wipe the internal drive but will also lock the bootloader, thats a lot of hassle to do every time you want to restore, but thanks for your suggestions, cheers.

The fastboot rom wipes the internal drive but DOES NOT lock the bootloader. Besides, I haven't seen or heard of another way to use TWRP backups without decrypting the phone, and I have security concerns with decrypting the phone.

ohh ok, I thought it locks it but thanks for the info, yes thats why I decrypted my device, lets hope in this thread we could find a easy way out to restore sucessfully while encrypted, have you tried just backing up boot, system and data and than restoring it ? cheers

Yes I tried. Without the fastboot rom to reset everything that stupid encryption bites you in the butt.
Yep. I just restored an entire nandbackup, and now my phone boots to a quailcomm dump screen only, can't fastboot into recovery or anything. Guess my new plans tonight involve fixing this thing.
I also got a bootloop after restoring 8.1 android with twrp 3.3.1 by nemo nemo on my leagoo xrover.
factory reset and wiping everything exept microsd card didnt help...
thanks for some help

I create complete rom backup with trwrp, but..
When I need to restore this backup , I restore it in TWRP, then reboot to OS but it NEVER boots up. It just stucks on white Sony logo and thats all
I have tryed wiping everything before 4restoring, and not wiping anything before restoring.. but my rom backup never boots up..actually it doesnt even start to load system OS never gets to bootup animation just stays on sony logo.. also tryed switching boot slot from A - B with twrp after restoring but no go.. please any ideas?
Also If I may.. have a second question regarding TWRP, when I install in system TWRP app, it never detects that twrp is installed .. maybe because xa2ultra doesnt have recovery partition or ? any solution to get twrp app to work when system is booted up?
no ideas why rom backup can't be restored? need ideas/help please..
is there any other way to make flashable rob backup excwpt in twrp wich doesnt work?
