Hi all,
Thanks for your help in advance.
I think I've bricked my phone, however I'm not sure whether it's recoverable or not.
What I did, was flash my phone back to it's original ROM and rooted using the guide in a sticky on this board 'D66XX 5.0.2/5.1.1 Flashable stock Lollipop pre-rooted collection & XZ dualrecovery'
This was fine, and it booted fine, I installed root checker and confirmed that it was rooted.
I then downloaded the Official Cyanogen 12.1 Nightly build from their website, cleared cache/dalvik etc.. and attempted to flash that using TWRP. I had an error, which was something along the lines of "E:Error executing" and this was followed by "This device is leo".
I googled a little bit and found that I had to modify the 'updater-script' file in the nightly .zip in order to flash, so I did this and it seemed to install fine with no errors..
I then rebooted, and since then I've had no response from my phone. No LEDs on charging (after an hour or so). No response from holding any combination of Power/Volume buttons, and even the hard reset button located inside the SDCard cover doesn't cause any vibrations from the handset.
I'm not sure where else to go.. After a lot of searching a lot of people are suggesting to leave it charging and then try again after a long charge. I'm wondering what other people would suggest in my situation, is my handset recoverable?
Any help is greatly appreciated! Cheers
Sam
Hi, if your phone's bootloader isn't unlocked this is most likely why it's not booting up. I once installed a ROM on my phone and skipped the line where it said the bootloader needed to be unlocked(I realised this after reading through the install instructions again), I then used the flash tool to install a stock ROM and the phone was fine again, after that I unlocked the bootloader reinstalled that custom ROM that needed an unlocked bootloader and it worked. If you don't know how to do any of this an are just too lazy to find the links that guide you through this I'll find it for you and post it here(you will wait a while though). Hope this helps

Right.. so first of all, you're correct.. my bootloader is still Locked, as I did not unlock it.
The rest you are totally wrong about, I am unable to get any response from the phone whatsoever.. There's no bootloop, there's no response from screen, no LEDs, no vibrations, nothing. The PC (including Flashtool) doesn't recognize the phone. So flashing is kind of impossible in it's current state.
I've left it overnight (since my post) connected to a wall charger and still nothing so far. Going to leave it charging just in case it wants to resurrect itself at some point (fingers crossed).

Does your phone get warm at all while it's in this state? Also does it not get picked up at all by your computer or does it just come up as an unrecognized device? I'm going to assume your phone might be on, in which case I'd recommend holding in the Vol+ button and then the off button, this will force the phone to shutdown if it's on, if your phone vibrates three times then it's definitely off now and you should try seeing if you can go into fastboot or flashmode mode using a computer if that doesn't work then I'm sorry but I think your phone might just be too far gone.

It did come up as "Unknown Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)", but no longer does, I'm assuming that it WAS on, but now the battery has run out and it's not charging.
I did try an "adb devices" command when it was plugged in previously but it did not list my device, and as far as I know I have all the correct drivers installed, as I used flashtool to flash CM 12.1.
I can no response from volume/power buttons with any combination as per OP.
*EDIT* The device does not raise in temperature either was connected to USB/Wall Charger
OK So I have an update..
I've removed the back of my phone, removed battery connector and replaced, and now when I connect to my Laptop using USB, The device is recognised as "SEMC Flash Device", however when holding the Volume Down button when connecting I do not have a Green LED, it shows a Red LED for roughly 2-3 seconds and then that dissappears.
Flashtool kind of "half recognises" my phone as per the following:
31/050/2015 14:50:55 - INFO - Device connected with USB debugging off
31/050/2015 14:50:55 - INFO - For 2011 devices line, be sure you are not in MTP mode
and it also shows:

ADB doesn't recognise and neither does Sony PC Companion, but surely this is progress in the right way? If it's now being recognised as an SEMC Device

Do as follows:
1. make sure your phone is off ( hold down volume+ and than press the power button, hold them down like that until the phone vibrates 3 times)
2. run flashtool as an administrator (right mouse click on the flashtool icon > Run as an administrator) ,once flashtool opens click on the lightning icon, select "OK" to chose the flashmode, and than select your stock z3 ftf file at the top ( if you have one, if not then download xperi firm and use it to download stock z3 rom )
3. after selecting the stock rom make sure APPS_LOG and USERDATA (on the upper right side) are ticked. Than go ahead and select flash (bottom right corner)
4. wait for flashtool to do its thing, eventually it will prompt you to plug in your phone
5. once that happens go ahead and hold down the volume down button, and while still holding it plug your phone to an usb cable, ( which is already connected to your pc )
6. after that flashtool will start flashing the rom
7. dont touch anything until the phone boots itself up

The phone won't boot into Flashmode, or fastboot mode, or recovery mode.. Nothing, no Sony logos, no response, no vibrations.

Make sure the phones is turned off, then open flash tool, connect the cable to your phone while holding the volume down button, see if flashtool will say "device connected in flashmode".. if it does than you can proceed with the previous instructions, from top to down.
The problem you now have I think is you have a custom kernel installed on a locked bootloader device, with a now completely dead battery.
I don't know if it will charge in this state as I think the kernel controls charging, and as your kernel won't function with a locked bootloader, it's not going to charge either. If it's not going to charge at all, it's not going to have enough power to get into flash mode to flash a stock ftf.
The red led means there's not enough power . . . I'm wondering if you could get hold of another battery with some charge in it, if it would then allow flash mode?
I think your phone was frozen when you were trying initially, and it just stayed that way until it went dead.
I'm no expert, but I'd be willing to try if it was me, seeing as you've already dismantled it anyway.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, I hope there's an easier way than this.

Thank you for your suggestions, unfortunately I'm unable to get a battery with charge, and have therefore give up.. I will accept that I have bricked my phone beyond recovery, and will learn from my mistakes.

Seems a shame to give up. There's nothing wrong with the hardware by all accounts.
You can get a new battery off ebay for £10 to £15 and they're factory charged to at least 50%.
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=291420999095&alt=web
It may or may not work, but I'd rather try than bin a couple of hundred pounds worth of phone.
Whatever you decide, I'll help if I can. I love my Z3, even more so than my Z5 right now.
Good luck either way,
Mick
Edit:
I'd even go so far as to say, if you still have the complete phone, post it to me and I'll see what I can do with it. I'll post it you back when I'm done, and if I can fix it, it's only gonna be a new battery at the most. You can't really lose, it's not working as it is.
I'd cry if I bricked my Z3, honestly. I'd like to help.
this happen to me before, same like your phone and i think it brick cos system partition already mess up...
lucky me i still have warranty on that time so i sent to SC and change new motherboard....
whatever i do, still no succeed, just blink red led
i think u need to sent it to SC, don worry they cannot detect ur phone rooted or UB cos motherboard already fried up....
hahahaha

As much as I'd love to trust you, and I'm sure you're a man of your word, I wouldn't risk sending it out to someone I don't know.. Who's to say I'd get it back? Bricked or not it's money. I don't mean to offend you.
Buying parts that only possibly fix the issue is currently out of the question to due finances, but is a possibility further down the line.
Thank you for all your help, and if I ever do manage to fix it, or require more help I'll be sure to come back again, you've been a great help.
Cheers

Lol, it's ok. I don't offend that easily, but I did laugh, so thanks for that. Was probably a stupid offer anyway, thinking about it. Perhaps it's me who's too trusting lol. Funny thing is, I would have sent it back, fixed or no, but that's just me. I'm sure there's plenty of people out there who would like to rinse you of a Z3, but me, I've already got one. And a Z5. And a Z4 Tablet, oh and my old Z1 which I gave to my daughter. I've even still got my old Arc S. Either way, good luck. I hope you do get it sorted. Just don't bin it.
As for the battery. I bet any money you'd be able to flash it IF you can get a battery in it with some charge.
Here's a counter offer: I fixed a Z3 for a friend of mine a few months ago. I'll ask him if I can have his spare battery. I made one good Z3 out of two broken ones you see, for him. If he let's me have it, I'll post it to you free of charge. Even if it doesn't work, at least we tried.

I might be able to get a battery today actually, a friend of mine has a z3 and he's looking to sell it, but before he does he's going to borrow it to me in order to use his battery! I may just be in luck.
If I do manage to get the battery, I'll be sure to update this post with the verdict. The only worry is that if there's any cracks in the glass at the back, I won't be able to get the battery without completely ruining his phone, so don't want to do that.
I know that my back piece is completely shattered, so if I do manage to get the phone working after all, I'll have to source a new back lol.
Also, back to the topic of trust.. It's not that I don't trust you personally, I just don't trust the internet! I greatly appreciate the offer, and if this battery doesn't working out for me I'd gladly appreciate any help from you in the future.
Thanks again!

Hello all, this is my first real post here,
and I hate to say that I have a problem! First off let me say, I have trolled(and found MANY fixes here) and never had to sign up, because anything I needed was in the search menu!! which let me say is Awesome...
However i have a different problem this time, lol
I recieved my OTA of JB, I was rooted, after following a few steps, I unrooted and was able to update to JB, I rooted again, and somehow or another, I ended up back on ICS,(I found this VERY VERY weird) didn't think this was possible, but it happened after a few flashes.
Anyways today, I plug my phone into my pc,(after a few weeks of it working properly) to upload some pictures, it automatically started to flash, I unplug, reboot(which works most of the time) however NOT this time,
I have the following on my screen
AP Fastboot Flash Mode(S)
10.98(*)(sha-56608bc, 2012-11-23 and time)
eMMC Info:size 16gb
Device is LOCKED, Status Code:0
Battery Low
Transfer Mode: USB Connected
Partition(boot) Security Version Downgraded
Fastboot Reason : Boot Failure
usb connected
I have tried to load a 3rd party xml file aquired from this site, when loading I can get into the other screen which allows me to wipe data etc. but still nothing, Also tried to just let it run its course and nothing..
Officially I am a N00b and I would like some help
The third party file, gives me the error(rsd lite 6.1.4) flash fail
Now I cannot find much info on this, and am Kinda in a bind. Any help is appreciated and I will gladly take the n00b comments with it as I realize this is my own fault..lol
update: when I boot my phone OFF of usb cord, I get fastboot reason: sticky bit factory_fastboot at the bottom now, wtf is this? lol

1) Don't use the fastboot files from here just yet... they are unofficial right now. I'm working on something better.
2) Your battery is low, you should get a factory cable or factory adapter. Look it up...

I seen that it was low, switched back to my wall plug and I don't know if its charging or what, but now battery is OK, weird.
Ok, I will hold off, but from what you see , does this seem fixable? I love the phone, and if its a brick, then I may be a lil heart broken but lesson learned for sure. lol
The issue with my phone.
I can't get into Download mode, computer won't pick it up and non of the buttons work. So I can't just flash a new rom.
It happened when I was trying to install This(I was being stupid and didn't look at the device.) So is there a way to fix it?
Things I tried and have
I have tried ADB, and fast boot they all get stuck waiting for the device (on every port).
I have the laf file. BUT here is the main issue my computer won't pick it up rendering the laf file useless.
I have looked on the forums and all methods purposed. Were for 32 bit computers or didn't work.
Signs of Life (Update One)
It just showed signs of life. It was dead so I charged it and the LED was flashing red and it charged now it is back to black screen and now sign of life though. I tried ADB on my tablet (didn't work) so I know the ADB issue might be my computer. That is good news because it means there is a chance of fixing it.
I am going to try to use ADB on my other computer to see if that works. If it does then there may be a chance of fixing it.

I looked into the zip that you tried to flash, and it looks like it flashed the mmcblk0p5 partition, which on the G3 is aboot (and I believe is why even download mode is broken). You can get a clean aboot.img from the thread here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-lg-g3/development/rom-lg-d850-20f-lollipop-5-0-1-extras-t3052041) , but you will have to have some way to flash it. Are you able to get into anything at all on the phone itself, recovery even?
@southern87 : maybe you can provide some insight. I remember in the Lounge a while back you had a broken aboot. Where you ever able to get back to download mode or some other way to repair aboot?

Thanks for responding. I am going to try ADB again but I can't get into recovery mode at the time being.
A similar thing just happened to me, except I got right out of it. Device was completely unresponsive, no download mode, adb nothing, indicative of a hard brick. Scared the **** out of me as I've had it less than 6 hours... Started holding buttons, and it came to life after ~1 minute of power button + volume down. Related? Well maybe not, thought I'd post it here. (TWRP 2.8.5 + Rooted CM12)
True Hard Brick, No OS!
Well I really did it this time. F*cked up big time. Wiped everything on phone, all I have is TWRP which is useless. Nothing. No bootloader, no sideloader, NO files! Guess I'll try to get into download mode.
Anyone have any ideas? Would be greatfull for any help.

They don't put it bAck to stock.. They either will tell you no as you voided warranty or it will be sent off for warranty. They don't flash in store.
You have to have download mode to flash.
So your plugging your phone inTo a non USB 3.0 plug using the OEM LG cable while holding volup and then plugging in the USB cable?

Yes, AT&T said they would replace it for $199.00. Screw that. they gave me the phone # for LG, I will call them & see how much they charge to reinstall the OS. Yes, plugging into 2.0 usb while holding vol up with phone off. No sign of life.

Yes, if only it was that easy.
There are a few things you can try :
1.) Press the Powerbutton for a longer time
If you have a responce like the LG Logo or something like that, you might want to try and plug it to the computer and use the managing software
with which you can emergency reinstall the firmware.
2.) Press Power + Volume Down
If it restarts into the recovery menu, try to find a way to load a flashable stock rom of your handy onto the memory of your phone in order to "reflash" it.
(I don't know how you can do that )
3.) Go to the shop where you bought it and explain your problem, since rooting a LG device is not really easy to detect the chances that your warranty will cover for it are pretty high.

Let me start off by saying that I just got this phone and decided to install a custom recovery and rom on it. As I do with all my phones that allow me to do so. I got the phone with android 4.4.4 on it, rooted it with Kingroot, and proceeded to use the XZDualrecovery tool to install TWRP. After that was all done, I downloaded the Z5 Expierience Rom, and I'm going to take a long shot here and say that I must have majorly missed something. Because after flashing that Rom in TWRP, my phone will do next to nothing. All went fine with the install of the ROM itself. Wiped Dalvik/Cache before restart.
If i hold down the power button I get a single vibration and then the phone does nothing (Does not even turn on backlight). If I plug the phone into my computer the phone will start a sequence of Red (LED), Green (LED), Vibrate. It does this aobut once every second. I can access Fastboot if I hold the volume + button, the LED then goes solid blue and the phone stops the LED - Vibration sequence. The only problem I have, as far as just not being able to Flashtool it back to life is, not being able to get the phone to go into Flashmode. No matter what I do, the phone will not let me get it into Flashmode. Im sure there is a good reason for this, I am just not sure what it is.
I've been flashing Roms and Recoveries since G1 days. I'm usually pretty decent at figuring this kind of thing out, but this thing has got me puzzled. I clearly went terribly wrong somewhere here, hopefully someone who knows this phone much better than I can point me in the right direction and hopefully get my less than 10 hour phone working again.
P.S. - If the phone is plugged into the wallcharger is does something similar to when it is plugged into my computer, but instead of a Sequence of Red - Green - Vibrate, I just get a steady red blink folled by a vibration. The phone will continue to do so until unplugged from the charger.
All help is very appreaciated!
I'm having the same issue. Anyone with the fix would be appreciated
Not sure what to try at this point!
I've been looking non-stop in my free time for a fix for this thing, and no matter what I do I keep getting the same results. Not really sure where to go from here, I have tried Flashtool, Emma, and PC Compainion out of desperaity. I tried all three options on teo seperate computers (One Windows 10 and the other Windows 7.) I have also tried multiple cables. No matter what I do all this thing will do is blink at me and vibrate. Is this thing hard bricked? I read its close to impossible to hard brick one of these phones. I'm wiling to accept that I have if that is the case. Just would like an opinion from someone who has some knowledge with these.
Same here, someone plz help.
If is only a change of batery or the phone is dead completly, an the stop trying to revive it.
Thanks .

!st question is did you flash the correct rom for your device?
If you can go to recovery, then try to flash another rom,
Or use adb/fastboot to try and flash recovery img and use fastboot to reboot recovery.
Alternatively you may have to flash a kernel relevant to your rom.

Try this and see if it helps.........
If your phone is unbranded, i.e. not locked to a carrier, download a any generic(customized) firmware for your device through Xperifirm and flash it through Flashtool. It will wipe all your data (excluding your microSD, of course) but you don't have any other choice. This is most probably unbrick it...... So, try it and all the best.:good:
EDIT: If you've tried it, then go for this. Luckily you've fastboot still working, right? So, go to fastboot mode and flash a recovery image through it. It may take a lot of time but if recovery works, you can install a stock based rom for your device and then go back to stock firmware through Xperifirm and Flashtool.....
The phone is a Verizon model. I've tried to unlock the bootloader using command prompt following the sony instructions, after recieving my unlock key. I am able to connect to the phone and all of the fastboot commands work until I try and run the one to actually unlock the bootlaoder. That says the it is "not allowed." I think that is because I never enabled OEM Unlocking in the developers menu though. Not sure if there is a stock kernel I should try an flash through fastboot. Or if there is a stock recovery file that is flashbable through fastboot with a locked bootloader. The phone is definetley working in fastboot and somehow still knows how to charge. Im pretty sure at this point the problem is that the phone has a custom rom on it but the bootloader is still locked. I cannot unlock the bootloader because I can't get in Android to enable the proper options. Have also tried Flashtool for unlock the bootloader, along with extracting kernel sins from a stock 4.4.4 and a stock 5.0.1 FTF and trying to flash them. Since the begining I have still seen no change in the phone behavior.

dude I'm from the Verizon side yea like you have an bootloader status unlock no so your not going to change that and you can only flash Verizon z3v stuff you are really lucky if you can still get to fastboot after doing this. Use flashtool and flash a Verizon ROM from the z3v section only and pray it works.
Hi guys. So I have been going through xda and Google for hours and hours trying solutions, to no avail. I almost never post on forums for help because I can usually find the solution. Not this time. This is my last resort next to throwing my phone out a window or praying for death's sweet release.
The facts: I have a rooted Xperia Z3v. I tried to upgrade TWRP in order to follow some directions on upgrading to Nougat. I flashed TWRP from 2.8.X.X to 3.X.X.X. I rebooted and it never made it to the Sony logo. Now, if I plug the phone in to either a wall socket or PC it vibrates, endlessly at three second intervals, each time with red LED. If I try to enter flash mode, then its the same but with a brief green led after the red. I can enter fastboot (the only way to stop it vibrating while plugged in) and my PC sees it, including Flashtool, but since my bootloader is locked permanently, I can't really do much with it.
When plugged into the wall-charger, I noticed that the charger's LED changes from "Active" to "Inactive" with every vibration. I'm pretty sure I'm in a reboot loop. The screen is totally dead and there's no logo, but every three seconds it kills it self and comes back.
I have tried everything I could think of.
What I have:
I have the stock firmware ready to go
I have TWRP backups on SD card and PC
I have Flashtool
I think my drivers are good, but not 100% sure
I can fastboot
I'm at my wit's end and losing hope.
Please, I'm open to any suggestions at all.
There is a chance to save your phone 50% this trick might work for your phone sort of .
First i need some answers
1.If you go to flash mode the phone vibrates right is it detectable by your pc at that time.
2.did you Try hard reset not by the vol button press but the very sophisticated button under the sim tray.
3.https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/development/nougat-7-1-1-android-source-project-t3532346
try this I know this is not for your phone but you will be able to actually boot your phone or atleast take a rest for what the heck is going on with your phone
4.If none of the solutions work disscuss with me i am happy to help
Same thing here. Flashed wrong ROM via TWRP.
As a result, immediate loop (repetitive vibration, led blinking red) when connected via USB. No recovery access. Only fastboot access (blue led).
Locked bootloader.
Flashtool:
- tried flashing kernel.sin extracted from a stock ftf - no good (locked bootloader, unlocking requires flashboot which is not accessible).
- tried flashing system.sin extracted from a stock ftf - no good, flashtool says
INFO - Flashing selected system
and immediately after that
INFO - Please check the log before rebooting into system
So it clearly doesn't do anything. Any other approaches to try?

I bought an M4 Aqua to keep me going for now as they're cheap. The E2306 is unrootable with 6.0.1 and I don't want to downgrade to Loli so no possibility to butt**** this one. If s300pmu1 and you figure it out, I'll do the same to mine.

I didnt get your comment brief it to me
Hi all,
Im in a desperate and urgent need of help.
My Mrs pixel 7 pro is stuck in a boot loop that restarts 5 seconds after the google writing appears when starting. I wasn't home when it happened but she doesnt really make sure her phone has some battery before turning it on, as soon as she sees 2% she starts it, so im guessing maybe she bricked it while the phone was trying to apply an update when turning it on as she said that the external battery didnt have any juice left inside.
Anyway,
I know i can wipe the phone from recovery mode and make it into a factory reset phone. The issue here is we have over 6000 photos and videos of our son in that phone that she hasnt copied to the external hard drive i gave her for months due to her not liking that her little laptop is slow.
I tried recovery mode Reboot, i tried going into safe mode (no luck as it will go straight into fastboot mode). She doesnt care about a lot of things and obviously she never unlocked the developer setting or bootloader so device state is also locked.
I am begging you, anything any info or advice on how i can get those pictures out of the phone. Is there any way i can flash the stock firmware just to make the phone start and copy them after?
Any possibility or chance or retrieval?
I am willing to pay anyone that can guide me in the right direction as there are over 6 months worth of photos and memories.
Thanks in advance and may the luck be on my side.

If you can enter recovery mode try to sideload the same exact ota package of the rom she's running, maybe that can help. Good luck!

Here's Googles official OTA updates and instructions etc.
From what i've read briefly and as far as i can gather (still running a stock pixel 7 pro - for the first phone in god knows how long, so i'm not well read on this device but...) if you can sideload the latest OTA update via sideload then you should in theory be able to save the data and boot again. But if you flash full firmware then your device will be wiped in the process (if that's even possible with a locked bootloader).
Very best of luck
EDIT: hmm thinking about it, you won't have enabled USB debugging in dev options, hang on, i'll reboot direct to recovery to see if i can get the device recognised without USB debugging enabled. Sorry to be vague (hopefully someone more experienced with this device will chime in with more advice), like i say, i'm not rooted, flashed with custom rom - nothing, just plain old stock so i've not read up much on proceedures for this device. Bare with me!!
Had another thought, do you or have you been using Google photos to view your images on the device. If so, did you enable backup photos online when you first set the app up? If so, they could be backed up automatically...
Edit: my bad..
Try this link
If that fails just Google 'Google photos sign in'
Just tried from recovery to run some adb cmd's, no joy without enabling debugging 1st
There may be hope... If your photos aren't backed online already from above link...
EDIT:
1. From power off state (make sure the device is charged before apply any ota update) Press vol down and power together. As soon as it boots to google logo, let go of vol down, then power. That will put you in fastboot mode where you use the vol up/down to navigate to Recovery mode and power button to select.
2. Then when you have the screen that says 'no command', press power button and CLICK vol up (releasing vol up straight away but keeping power pressed). That'll take you a blue menu at top of screen.
3. Use vol buttons to navigate to 'apply update from adb'. I have checked using 'adb devices' and 'adb reboot sideload' cmd's on PC and the device is now recognised...
Will write further instructions shortly. (no guarantees this will work tho without losing data...or even if it'll work at all - i suspect the OTA update with just fail to transfer)
OR there is another option, using the same instructions above (1) in fastboot mode use the volume buttons to navigate the menu, power button to select Rescue mode. Then contact your service center for support who will advise/offer support - hopefully, which may end up having to send the device in and still offers no guarantee of preserved data

Following the link it's all explained there:
- no USB-Debugging needed
- booting recovery by key combo
- no loss of any data when using the OTA files
Also turning on USB-Debugging in developer options is not necessary for the recovery. It's enabled by default and moreover the recovery doesn't consider any system settings like disabled/enabled USB-Debugging.

FYI: Stock recovery only uses a minimal adbd with a very limited set of commands. That's why some known ADB commands won't work.
