The release of quick charge 3.0 is right around the corner and so far I'm a bit excited since I most of my current devices take advantage of quick charge 2.0 but hopefully the s7 supports 3.0 as I will definitely be grabbing a quick charge 3.0 charger asap since they will support quick charge 2.0. I believe that on quick Charge 3.0 compatible devices you can get 27% faster charging speed than Quick Charge 2.0 Charger.
Any thoughts? =)

Best charging stuff ever... 2016 needs more faster charging hardware options as we love our phones and can't like without it

Quick charge 3.0 will be great on Galaxy S7
Support for quick charge 3.0 would be a big selling point for me
It will be amazing if S7 comes with quick charge 3.0.
I created a list of Quick Charge 3.0 Chargers from the Famous Accessories Brands:http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/accessories/1-29-list-quick-charge-3-0-chargers-t3303560
I turn off quick charging on all my devices. I just don't see it being good for battery life. With a little planning ahead I have always left the house with a full battery.
Edit: my note edge was the only device I owned which was purchased used. It also happens to be the only device I own with a bad battery. I suspect due to the original owner using quick charge. Hell, even the battery in my almost 3 years old s4 last longer.
Note 5 and galaxy s6 edge+ Plus charger are O ready very fast. I don't think we need quick charge 3.0
Will be good if galaxy s7 has USB-C port.

Shame it doesn't have USB C. But then again wireless fast charge will be nice.

USB C is slow at the moment on the smartphone. maybe Samsung is waiting for USB-C gets more advance or faster.
becuase fast charge 3.0 is faster then USB-C at the monent. look at Nexus 6P or Nexus 5x or oneplus 2 with USB-C. its not fast.
So it looks like the LG G5 got Quick Charge 3.0 but the S7 is still on 2.0? Can anyone confirm?

Nexus 6p isn't fast, it's true. But that's not down to USB-C.
It's down to the type of fast charging system it favours. Higher amps, whereas quick charge 2 and 3 raise the voltage more.
It's more likely Samsung are delaying using USB C due to it being seen as a minefield of good vs bad cables.
I've used both. Quick Charge works better in my opinion. Faster and cooler with my Samsung S6 vs my Nexus 6p.

I just read the users manual and it indeed does support the fast charge technology
The charge time quotes were something like 30 mins from 0 to 80%. If that's true, then it has to be Quick Charge 3. If...

Should I stick with 2.0A or Nexus 5 standard.

Charge with the most amps you can..the phone draws what it needs and is self-regulating. The screen and touch flakiness when plugged in is a widespread issue related to grounding.

While it takes what it can safely take to charge, the charger itself may not be able to handle the heat if its a cheap knock off. So I would watch it the first time or two you try a charger with a higher rate than the included the charger. I had one literally melt onto my surge protector. Yes, it was a cheap chinese knockoff and it was charging via Qi instead of USB, but seriously, watch for the first time or two that it doesn't cause overheating and melting or even a fire. Just IMHO.

It might as well be different for some countries.
To be honest, I mixed my plugs, so I only know that one is 1.8, the other is 1.2. I don't know which one is for the phone and which one is for the wireless charging.
But the wireless charging is painfully slow with USB. The problem is that I have many things around, so I need a hub. That's 2 meters of cable. Then I plug it into the hub and put the wireless charger to the other side of the table, that's another 1.5 meters. And it's a hub, so it has to give power to other things as well.
According to Android L, from 25%, it takes 7 hours to charge. I might as well use the normal charger...
Stock charger is definitely 1.2.

Samsung isn't "Quick Charge". It's their own knockoff/brand/flavor of the same concept.
So Samsung chargers won't work with any other brand phones, and you can't get a Quick Charge with a Samsung phone. Kind of annoying of them, but I guess they're free to do what they want.

Update 19/04/2016: This charger vastly outperforms the LG when screen on. See bottom of this post for details.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B019Q67STY/
Quick review of this charger. I received it free of charge in exchange for honest feedback.
It has a USB-A connection & no cable is included but the LG one you get with the G5 works fine.
It seems well built, a little shorter than the original but lacks the retractable earth pin so a bit of give & take on portability.
One standout physical difference to any other charger I've had is simply genius, a reversible USB-A connection. Can't believe it isn't more common but great to have a key advantage of USB-C ported to USB-A.
Performance in comparison to the original is nigh on identical. Both charge at 3A until about 60% then start ramping down.
Here's the times Choetech / LG
10%-60% 25:04 / 24:31
60%-80% 13:45 / 14:00
80%-100% 31:07 / 31:19
100% to current dropped to 0mA 49:19/ 49:56
Yep, with both chargers there seems to be a long time from reporting 100% & trickle charge actually reaching 0mA.
I used 3C Toolbox for measurements.
A few pics. LG charger is white.

Update 19/04/2016
Definitely better charging rate with QC3 when screen on. 1st 2 images are LG non QC 3.0, 3rd & 4th are the Choetech QC 3.0 charger
The former seems to pick up a little when temp goes below 35c but still not a patch on the latter.
(yellow marker indicates when screen on)
Thanks for the review.

Hmm, it's interesting the voltage/amperage ratings on your charger are exactly those printed on a QC2.0 charger... looking through Amazon, those are the same stats printed on other QC3 chargers too. If confirmed, this makes QC3 chargers not nearly as useful as advertised
The Anker QC3 I looked at on Amazon is touting 80% in 38 minutes, which would line up at ~70% with my QC2 charts. Meh.

Amazing! The charging speed of QC 3.0 is really faster! Choetech seems work better and more stable than the g5 original brick. Thanks for sharing. @stuart0001
I just received the US version of this charger and will be putting my comparison/analysis on my thread as soon as I get some data collection.
I've been very pleased with mine since I got it. I haven't done any deep research like stuart but as a secondary charger in my living room it definitely seems to be at least as quick as the stock charger. I'm using a 6 foot cable so the fact that it still charges as quickly as the stock charger impresses me.
Overall I've been impressed but I think Choetech has done a good job at being some of the first 3rd party options you can trust recently. My outlet is in an awkward spot so I don't know if the brick heats up at all while it's charging or anything but it does the job.
I didn't get the charger for free but I think it's worth the money. I planned to take one of my 3.0 chargers to the office and use a 2.0 at my nightstand but I may end up just grabbing another one of these for the price.
Thanks for the review @stuart0001 it's nice to see the real data on this to know it's not just all in my head.
hey guys, I know huawei has its own proprietary fast charge solution, but does it also work with quick charge 3 chargers? Like is it slower because the battery is big or is it slower because it detects it as a normal charger
I read, or watched in a video, that if you are using most quick chargers it will charge faster than normal but just not at the speeds of their proprietary quick charge.
Of course with quick chargers there is always the caveat of the crap knockoff ones verse good ones so milage may vary.

Keep in mind the issues of USB C non standard cables being rampant. Lots of USB C stuff is crap and not up to snuff.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge using XDA Labs
One of the reviews mentioned the need for the Huawei cable. They said it has additional pins that aren't in a standard USB-C cable. They indicated that the reason they can charge faster is because there are two batteries that are being charged in parallel, though that may have been speculation. If true, that would explain the need for a special charger: it would need dual outputs.

It is false, there is just one battery and the cable has nothing to do with the number of batteries.

I can't say it's true or false, but how do you know it's false? "Two" batteries doesn't necessarily mean the cells are physically arranged in separate casings. And if there were two separate batteries, you would need more connections to be able to control the voltage/amperage to the needs of each one. Sending a single power connection to the phone then modulating that within the phone would likely put too much bulk and heat into the phone, better to keep it in the charger.
I just bought the phone, I'll test it using ampere (mah) using the original charger and then using quick charge 2 plus USB C adapter
Oh my God, blew my mind away, this is with the original charger, unbelievable, comparing to my S6 qc2, max was 1020 mA
Ok so I did three tests, one with huawei original charger+cable, the results was in my previous post, and now with a qc2 charger using huawei cable..
We find that it's much slower.. But the big surprise is that using Samsung cable with the qc2 and micro USB to USB C adapter, we get this.
1. Huawei original (3650mA)
2. QC 2 WITH HUAWEI CABLE (2100mA)
3.QC 2 micro USB to USB C adapter cable (1200ma)
So that means QC 2 or 3 are good relatively but only if you use huaweis cable.. So there you go.

I thought you meant using a physical multimeter to test for the current at first lol. I didn't know there is an app for this. Stupid me.
Here is my findings:
3rd party cable with 3rd party charger output 2A:
3rd party cable with stock charger
Stock cable with stock charger:
As we can see it matches the output current stated on the charger drawing between 4.5A to 5A and you need the stock cable to enable it.

I think your device can also achieve the same result.
Huawei's SuperCharge is the fastest of any fast charging protocols we've tested at XDA. We're working on publishing an article soon about our comparisons and findings once we've finished our graphs.
I just got a wireless charger, this kind of weird off-brand:
New poster so can't link. Search Amazon for "Yootech 7.5W/10W/15W Fast Wireless Charger with Cooling Fan,7.5W Wireless Charging Stand with QC3.0 Adapter Compatible iPhone 11/11 Pro/11 Pro Max,15W LG V30/V35/G8,10W Galaxy Note10/S10,Pixel 3/4XL" It's about $22.
I bought it because it supports up to 15W and comes with a charger. Anyway, I put the device on the charger and I'm seeing 13.2W consistently:

This is both cool and kind of unsettling to me. Is the charger violating specs and sending more power than the Pixel 4 XL can take or can the phone take more power than the 11W advertised?

Phone can take more than advertised.
Pixel Stand charges mine at that rate.
I might have seen 15w once too.
Maybe it's 13.2 watts from the charger, but the pixel only gets 11 watts. Not sure what the loss is but it's not 1 to 1.
The wireless charger for the car I got gets to that level but it seems to cause the phone to run hot. once it reaches 104 F it stops charging. I have had to reposition the charger to the AC vent to circulate air and sometimes for the AC to cool it so it'll keep charging. Is it better to get a wireless charger that doesn't output that much power?

Just bought that one for my daughter, so that's good to know it charges that fast.
To be honest, I don't trust Inware's reported power draw anymore. I dropped my phone onto an old Tylt 5W pad and the app reported 8.4W, up to about 10W at one point. I seriously doubt that the pad is able to do that and suspect that it's misreporting. What other apps do people use to measure charge rates?
I bought the latest version of this charger. Amazon has 5 SKUs for this. 2 older models, one with charger, one without. 2 newer models. one with charger, one without. Finally a black version which I can't tell if it's new or not.
The updated version I bought for my Pixel 4XL shows charging at 10W using Inware. That's fast enough for me.
I am guessing that for the Pixel to say fast charging it has to reach 18W? The only time I have seen it say fast is plugged in with fast compatible chargers.
I have to say this version feels premium and fancy. Very nice.
One last thing, gave up having my mini wallet attached to the back of the phone. Not even the Google Wireless stand can maintain good contact for it to charge. On my previous Samsung i had no problems charging with the wallet attached with 3 cards in it. No luck with the Pixel.

Nevermind. For some reason I thought this was about a car charger
