[Completed] How to delete "phantom" file on Sony Google TV? - XDA Assist

Hope I'm posting this in the right location - I couldn't find any thread/forum that dealt with Google TV. Thanks.
I was attempting to copy a large movie file from my NAS to my Sony Google TV, and apparently something happened during the transfer. It appeared to complete successfully, but the file is basically a "phantom" file on my Google TV now. What I mean by that is I can't delete it (or access it, move it, rename it, etc.). It shows up in ES File Explorer under the "Movies" directory (where I had copied it to), but when I try to view it's properties it says they can't be retrieved. Worse, no matter what I try I can't delete it and it's taking up a large amount of space on my Google TV. I've tried everything from using a terminal emulator on the Google TV, to attempting to delete it via FTP from my computer, to attempting via "adb connect" with the debugging mode turned on. Nothing seems to work. I can't even tell if the system even detects it as a real file, since if I run "ls" via the adb shell (under /mnt/sdcard/Movies) it shows up, but then if I run "ls -al" I get nothing (and other weird things as well - such as when using "Better Terminal Emulator Pro" and browsing to the "Movies" directory and running "ls" it lists the file name and then says "No such file or directory"). Any help on how to get rid of this (without having to completely reset my Google TV) would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

[Q] Download Files From Google Drive

Hi ,
I uploaded some pictures on my Gmail Drive yesterday via Laptop.
When I use the Android Google Drive Client on my Gingerbread , I have options of viewing it or making it offline.
Is there any way of downloading the pictures to my SD card ?
Making it offline doesn't help because once I remove the Google Drive App from my Droid , I will no longer be able to view that picture.
I want a permanent download so that my downloaded pictures appear in my gallery even after un-installation of Google Drive.
EDIT: [SOLVED]
Disable encryption via settings, and the files are accessible in the below folder. Thank the man

The files seem to be in the google docs application folder, which on my system is found in /mnt/sdcard/Android/Data/com.google.android.apps.docs/files/pinned_docs_Files_do_not_edit/*CRAZY FOLDER NUMBER*
However, viewing the files does not work. It seems that this is a feature they have not included (for whatever reason).
Dropbox lets you export files.
You could also try another service called "Box".
KeePassDroid with Google Drive
I was going to create a new thread but in searching found this one. I'll use this one as maybe it applies with certain features not yet being implemented? Or am I overlooking or doing something wrong? I'll keep this simple. I use KeePass V1.x and KeepassDroid to keep my passwords in sync. It works great with DropBox. I have my database stored in the cloud and whenever I make a revision, it syncs across all my devices. Being the Google Whore I am, I was excited to try it with Google Drive. NO GO!
I can access the file and open the database with KeePassDroid without any issues. If I make a change and try to save it I get the following error. /data/data.com.google.android.apps.docs/cache/filecache2/123456789/databasename.kdb.tmp: open failed: EACESS (permissions denied). It won't let me write back to the database like DropBox will.
When I made the file available off-line, it would let me save the file, but it would not save that file back to the cloud. Do you think it's a permission issue on my side, or a limitation right now with Google Drive? Quick side note: I'm using a ported version of ICS but not really having any other issues. But if others are able to write back with a 3rd party app, then maybe it is something to do with the port....just a thought? If anybody has any ideas....Thanks!

It *seems* to me like a limitation with their software. The fact that you can't even use the files outside of google drive/docs despite them being there indicates that either the files are encrypted, or in some other non-standard format. Uploading probably doesn't work because the file you put there are in the wrong format for the software to use them.
I switched back to Dropbox (which I never REALLY left) because of this. As a way to move files to your phone (like .zips to flash), Google drive falls short.

Send them clear, direct feedback. Maybe they'll change it. After all, the product was just launched
Same here. I suspect G will change over time .

Glad to see this thread. First thing I did was try to copy a file to my SD Card from Gdrive. Just keeps trying to open them. Only option I had was send to Dropbox from Gdrive and export from there. Kind of a waste of time.
Just wait and see what features they add on. Its still very early.
Is your phone rooted? Using ES file explorer, and having the "up to root" toggle enabled, if I went to the root directory /mnt/sdcard/download directory all of the 4 files I synced with google drive were able to be copied using ES file explorer without any problem at all.
It's a bit annoying, but for now it works for me!

I could copy them no problem. The problem is, copied or not, they're unviewable.
Are you sure you are looking in the folder I mentioned, or are you looking in the folder that does not require root access? There is a link to those files in the directory that doesn't require root but even the thumbnail doesn't appear there.
Shrug, I pulled photos and a pc executable from that folder and copied it onto my SD card using the move option in ES file explorer which allowed me to email them to a friend.
How to enable Google Driver on my phone ?, i have download from Google Play but it's display not available in my country, hmm
When I went to the drive.google site after I installed the PC application it gave me a url to download the mobile app. I made sure "install non-market applications" was selected in my phone settings, opened up that site in my phone's browser, and installed it.
So I seem to have managed to get files from google drive onto my phone and tablet. I use an app called officesuite pro. I've got it on my prim and sgs2. It is a paid app but it connects to remote servers, google docs(drive), dropbox etc. If you access your files through there, you can copy the file, doc, zip whatever is on your google drive, and paste it to a local drive. All intact and usable.
This is crazy. As soon as my Drive was ready I transferred all my DB files to it thinking I'm all Google, so lets use it! Yeah, I can't access any of my files. With DB I could just long press a name, and download. Guess it's back to DB until Drive can do it too. Nice otherwise.

The folder you said was:
/mnt/sdcard/download , right?
I have the folder ( with a capital "D" though), except there are none of the files I made offline with drive in it.

Thanks for the tip. Still, might shame to have to jump through such hoops. The other question is: does it work with non-doc files?

same here. disappointing. but i hope they will change it in the future.
Yeah, it works with any type of file, I used it to download a zip. You can do it with jpegs too but you have to make it show unsupported files. Also, another way, probably easier is to log into google drive through your browser, you can download direct from there i've noticed. Just click on the file and it should give you the option to dl. Shame they haven't put this in the app.

Funny I was just trying this. It does work, but it renames the file to some long weird label. Have you found a way to keep it the same name?
To be honest, i've not really tried it through the browser but when I download it through officesuite pro, it retains the original file name.

[Q] Files not transferring

Tablet shows up as storage drive but will not allow drag and drop. At least not completely.
If I drag over and drop a folder onto the tablet, only the folder and any folders inside the folder will transfer. Nothing inside the folders will move, so it just stalls out.
I've also installed Kies, and get the same results. I'm clueless at this point. What should I look for now?
Calibre won't upload books either and gives no errors.

Can you give us a few more details....... What is your computers OS, what model tablet do you have 8013?, 4.0.4 or 4.1.2, What kind of files (avi, apk, mp3, mp4, doc, text)
Hard to help without complete details.

Windows 7, 8013, 4.1.2
Files: epub, mobi, .jpg, .opf etc.
Nothing will transfer. Nothing from Calibre, Kies or drag and drop. Yet all those applications successfully connect to the device.
I can make new folders on the tablet but that's it.
Calibre just popped up an error that says it can't communicate with the device. Which seems odd, as it shows connected status.

In Calibre does the note 10.1 show up on the top icon bar as a black icon labeled "device"
If so right click on it and then click on "configure this device" you will need to tell calibre what kind of files you want to transfer to the tablet like pdf, epub, mobi. Then you need to choose what folders you want to transfer your book files to on your tablet.
If you can not see the black tablet labeled device make sure that your usb is set to "connect as a media device (mtp)" and not set to "camera (ptp)"
Oh..... can you see the tablet in Windows explorer.... it should be the last item in Computer, it will be after all or your hard drives and cd drives. It should be listed as "GT-N8013"
Let me know what you see so we can continue.

Black icon, check!
Right click to configure, fail.
It gives an error because it's running a job. The job runs infinitely because it's trying to get the list of books on the device but it can't see it, apparently. Yet as I said before, it does connect to it =\
Yes the Note shows as a storage devise in Windows. But drag and drop will not work.

Not rooted yet. I just got the Note yesterday and I want to get a feel for stock first.
I'll look into AirDroid, thanks for the tip.
I've just started using DropBox and moved a few books. I just wish I could take them out of DropBox and put them on my device =\

Your drag and drop issue is on your windows7 computer correct? In the past I had drag and drop issues with some apps on my win7 computer and I had to do a reinstall of the OS to fix my issue.
.
Today I plugged it into another computer, it recognized right away. Open it, drag and drop a file boom, it copies.
Go back to my machine toss Ubuntu on for dual boot. It recognizes it no problem. Open it, drag n drop a file, no go.
Seems like some kind of hardware issue.

If you have a home WIFI system, you might consider installing a file manager like ES File Explorer that supports SMB. You don't have to be rooted to do it and once you input your home network settings you can transfer files wirelessly. It's much more reliable than Samsung's Kies software.

I use DropBox and ES File Explorer but that doesn't solve my issue of needing direct access via USB cable.
And besides that, broke things need fixed
Why do you use Kies?
Opens up on my PC like 2 removable discs... Tablet and card. Drag and drop files I want to copy...
Solved the problem. Bought a Mac, installed Android File Transfer, awesome ensued. PC is now a curb ornament.

Dont want to turn on a mac vs windows war here but whats the deal ????.. you dont need any software to connect to windows
Obviously USB mass storage does not work in mac or windows..
(I use both and each has there own advantages )
Edit : did not read the full thread.. Guess its just a driver issue... I can say -" windows suck with drivers " . Love mac for that

There is some major bull****tery with Windows, my hardware and my GN 10.1
It connects, pops up as a drive and file transfers work on two other Win7 boxes. I did everything imaginable to get it to transfer on my ex main pc. It would show up as a drive, I could click it and see all the files but when trying to transfer files, it was a no go. It would try. A window would pop up and the progress bar would show but then stop and not transfer anything.

[Q] Unlock cracked screen/Change USB connection type

This is going to be long winded because of the research I've already done before asking the question.
I have an AT&T LG Optimus G E970 running stock non rooted 4.1.2.
I cracked the screen of my phone and it's now touch unresponsive. I have a swipe lock on the phone. Is there a way I can unlock the phone with ADB? I tried the "adb shell input swipe" command with the different coordinates, but as you already know it reads each one as a separate swipe, so it can't be done that way.
I've also read about "getevent" and "sendevent" and that also may be too slow and the phone could stop reading the input before it's completed. I don't have another Optimus G to record the input anyway, and I've read each device has it's own coding/output. The only other phones I could use for "getevent" are a Galaxy S5 and a Pantech Flex, which both have a different screen resolution than the Optimus G so the coordinates would be off. I guess it could be possible for someone else with an Optimus G to record the "getevent" and send it to me if I gave them my swipe pattern...
I've also tried the "Crack android pattern lock" guides, but using the commands to delete the gesture.key, etc, I get "permission denied" and "/system/bin/sh: sqlite3: not found". My particular phone doesn't have a recovery mode(from everything I've tried) so the other options to delete them in recovery can't be done. Even "adb reboot recovery" doesn't work, it just goes to the exclamation graphic.
The only other option I can think of is the LG On-Screen Phone which lets you control your phone from the computer with your mouse and keyboard. To use that, you need to have "PC Software" mode enabled for "USB Connection Type", but I have mine in MTP. I can't figure out how to change it from MTP to PC Software.
There's a command "adb shell sdutil ums enable" that enables usb mass storage on older versions of android. There should be an equivalent for newer versions and other connection types.
I also found something that looks like it could change the connection mode to mtp with:
adb shell setprop sys.usb.config mtp,adb
What would be the command to set it to PC software mode?
If it would help, I did "adb shell getprop" and this is anything that mentions usb:
[init.svc.lge-cmm-usb-sh]: [stopped]
[init.svc.lge-usb-sh]: [stopped]
[persist.sys.usb.config]: [mtp_only,adb]
[sys.usb.config]: [mtp_only,adb]
[sys.usb.provisioned]: [1]
[sys.usb.state]: [mtp_only,adb]
Thank you.
Is it impossibrew?
I just tried
adb shell pm clear com.lge.lockscreen
adb shell pm clear com.lge.lockscreensettings
and all that did was set my lockscreen wallpaper back to default.
I just downloaded a program called Backuptrans that lets me see my text messages, missed calls, bookmarks, any photos videos or music that's on the internal memory, and all my contacts, but it still doesn't let me see my memos, which is what I really wanted to see. It's letting me see all of that on my locked non rooted phone.
Anyone can just hook up anyone's phone to that app and see all of that info.
I'm using the free version, you don't need to pay to see that info and either write it down or take a screenshot of it. You just need to pay if you want to physically transfer files.
I already pulled the backup.rnt from the memo folder with adb, but that seems like just a fragment of the memo's that I had. The Backkuptrans program only shows those same folders and files that I had already pulled, none of which are the current memos that I had taken.
For anyone else that wants to know, if you already have 7-zip installed, you can just right click on backup.rnt and choose 7-zip, extract here, to get the richnote files. Then rename the file to richnote.sql. Download the SQLite browser from sqlitebrowser.org, choose open database and find the richnote.sql file. Click the "Browse Data" tab, then the "Table" dropdown menu to notes. Extend the "textonly" section until you can read all of your notes/memos. My most important memo isn't there, so some of yours might not show up either. It's just the backup file, not the original. I have no idea how to get to the original outside of using the app on the phone.

FTP sever on watch lol

I managed to get an FTP sever running on my gwatch r using ES file explorer (yes it does work on wear and with root access as well if you are rooted)
I found it useful for transferring files to and from the watch to my phone LG G 3 obviously it's much faster than the other methods of Bluetooth file transfer I came accross. I also managed to do all this without touching a p.c just my phone, watch and a wifi connection.
If anyone is interested in how I did this then leave a reply and if enough people are interested I'll make a guide laugh
Sorry about the delay in getting this up lots going at work and home lately
Please read carefully as you can brick your device while playing in TWRP and I will not be held responsible for any damage caused by using this Guide.
Pre-requisites
Android device/phone (I’ll be using An LG G3 D855) or Tablet Rooted with ES file explorer and Wear media installed (play store)
Android wear device (I’ll be using a G-watch R) with root/unlocked bootloader? and TWRP installed
Wifi access point/router (your home wifi)
First of all we need to get ES file explorer on to the watch.
There are a few ways to do this (ADB ect) but I am trying to do these instruction without using a PC.
Using ES file explorer on you android device ensure root access mode is enabled (Slide from the left of the screen and scroll down to ‘Root Explorer’ and switch on) Then go to Local--- /Device/data/app Locate the ES file Explorer .APK and copy the file to another folder that doesn’t require root access ie Downloads folder
Ensure your Wear device is connected to your Android device and open Wear media on your Phone/Tablet.
Click on the picture of the Watch at the top and choose a non root destination folder for the .APK
Then click on the picture of the Phone at the top and locate the ES file Explorer .APK and click transfer/copy this will the put the .APK on your watch but not install it.
Now to install ES on your watch
Now go to your watch and reboot into recovery (TWRP)
Click mount and ensure System has an X next to it by clicking on it
Click advanced and File explorer Locate the ES .APK (mine is called something like com. Estrongs.android.pop) in the wear media destination folder you chose earlier
Click the file and click copy
Navigate to System/app and paste the .APK into this folder
Go to Wipe Advanced wipe and select Davlik Cache and Cache then swipe to wipe and reboot your device
Es should then be installed on your watch
Open the app on your watch open the menu and scroll to near the bottom and turn on root explorer and turn off gestures (there really annoying on a watch)
Then find Network and click Net manager to turn on the wifi on your watch and let it connect to your wifi access point
Just above should be Remote manager click on this and then ‘Turn on’ (this should then enable FTP access to your watch. If your go back to the watch face you should see a notification that an FTP server is running and it will give the IP address ie 192.168.xxx
Now open ES on your Phone (ensure connected to same network as the watch) open the menu and scroll to network and choose FTP
Click new at the bottom then FTP
For Server enter the address your watch is showing (192.168.xxx) tick Anonymous box
Choose a name for the device in ‘display as’ field and click ok. (please note the default port is 21 and should work in most cases but if the notification on your watch has a different port number ie 192.168.0.2:3721 use the numbers after the : so in this case I would enter 3721 into the port box under the Server part 8n ES and not leave the default of 21.
This should test the connection when you click ok
If all has worked you should now be able to click on the FTP you just created and it will show the files and folders on the watch. You can now use this to transfer files between your Phone and watch at a decent speed? ( I do backups on the watch using TWRP and transfer these to my phone or home server which also has an FTP service setup in ES)
Done
This was thrown together in about 10mins So I know it’s a bit rough. I would like to add screen shots at some point and if there are any errors you spot please let me know and I will correct ASAP (I’m sure there are loads lol)
Please also let me know if this worked for you
I would say most people would be interested so it'd would be good if you shared.

You can also run Airdroid app on your watch over wifi. You can upload/download files and install apks using webinterface. The tricky part is to read the port number and ip address that it displays when the app is launched. On the phone this app can do much more than that.

kindle RCE plugin, hidden files.

I saw this on my device, and only found little info/threads, with almost zero content/analysis. Aparently the kindle app leaves a bunch of random files around. And since the prefix is "RCE" i am a little paranoid, since that usually means "Remote code execution" and is usually associated with exploits

All Attached in a zip created by the android native file manager.

How to make those files appear for you:
Install kindle from the google app store
if you already have it installed, or want to see the files again after you deleted, Stop the app and delete all storage. (nothing will be lost, this app syncs everything and some more to the amazon servers)
perform the first Sync on kindle app
Now, insert a pen drive and open the native android File Mananger and look at the local Download folder
Files are somewhat hidden:
If you look into the download folder with any other app (I tried, blackberry file manager, oi file manager, Ghost Commander, and Termux --after enabling the storage setup)
Files probably have a weird attribute or ownership... but the native android file manager does not show anything other than creation date! And every single file operation (copy, move, compress) reset the information to "regular user, creation time set to now". So either I see them on the Native File Manager, without any information available, or I do not see the files until I destroy the information.
Android version is not important (seems to happen on several versions) and has been happening for a while (First mention seems to be Nov2018)
Anyone have any idea what this is? I know I will probably reverse eng the kindle app at some point, wast a bunch of time, and realize it is just some dumb amateur library badly implemented by amazon... or maybe not. I think at this point I am most curious as to how the app "hides" the files from most everything.
