Touch screen - upper left corner not registering touches - Moto G 2015 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I noticed yesterday that the upper left corner of the screen isn't registering touches.
Anything I can do to correct? Maybe my tempered glass screen protector is bugging something out?
Since my bootloader is unlocked, I'm guessing I'm up the creek without a paddle for a warranty fix or replacement?
Thoughts?

Disregard, a restart of the phone remedied... Go figure ?

I'm having the same issue

also having the same issue. restart does fix the problem, but then the issue returns after a few hours. it also does NOT seem to be a hardware issue, as even when I rotate the phone from portrait to landscape, the 'new' topleft corner (previously the top-right corner in portrait mode) will also become unresponsive. seems like a firmware bug or something? anybody have any longterm solution rather than restarting the phone every few hours?

I've noticed that if I rotate to landscape , that previously unresponsive spot on the screen works fine.
I've also noticed that if I tap on the status bar just above it, it works fine.
Very odd! Other than that small quirk, I love the phone!

Same thing
Same issue here.. Corrects after a restart... Other than that it's the best phone I've had.

Issue seems to have been resolved in Marshmallow, or at least so far been running all day without the problem !

[Q] Unresponsive touch screen?

I got nexus s (i9020T) recently and found the touch screen unresponsive sometimes. I've already tried several launchers(adw, lancherpro, go launcher ex), and it seems not launcher's problem. I've also tried to flash different ROMs, including CM-7rc2 and stock 2.3.3, and the problem remains.
Later I tried to bind Multi-touch Visualizer 2 to long pressing home button, and found the when screen is unresponsive, it can still detect press near edges very well, but not the center. While I press at the edge and drap across the center, it keeps tracking my finger correctly. In addition, Locking and unlocking the screen can solve the problem temporally.
I'm confused by the strange behavior, anyone experienced similar issue?
more info from test,
I connect my phone with adb, and tried to "cat /dev/input/event0"
The behavior confirms what I see in Multitouch Visualizor 2: the when the center of screen is unresponsive, nothing can be read from the device node.
I read the mxt224 touch screen controller doc, and it seems the chip features self-calibration, and thus I believe the "lock & unlock" will trigger the chip to tune it self in some way. I don't know kernel very well, so I cannot find the source code Any help please?
FYI. we are not alone.

I got this problem too whenever my phone is in my pocket facing inward.
I have tried to open the calculator to see which part of the screen having problem. Mine is usually the "8" and "5" location unresponsive if my phone stayed in my pocket facing inwards for a certain period of time.
The problem will goes off after couple of mins when i can feel that the phone is cooler than my body temp.
I knew this happens to the Dell Streak as well.

[Q] Section of the screen unresponsive

I seem to have a problem with the letter p on the default honeycomb keyboard - it doesnt seem to let me use the letter p correctly. If I hit the key i the dead centre, it is completely unresponsive. But around the edges of the letter it works fine.
I dont think its and issue with the touchscreen as it works fine in other apps (no dead spots) just i the keyboard in lamdscape mode.
Am I completely crazy or can anyone else replicate?
Actually, after playing with it a little more there seems to be a small area of the screen completely unresponsive to touch.
Could this be a software issue or is it likely to be a fault with the touch matrix on the screen?
Have you tried restarting the tf?
Try turn off and then turn on the screen. Also check this thread out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1068569
Thanks for the quick replies. Just restarted it and it seems fine for now. Didn't realise there was a known issue wrt touch screen responsiveness

[Q] [help] notification bar randomly opening

Hey guys,
Had my transformer for 2weeks now and loving it. However recently (first noticed it 2 days ago) the notification bar has randomly started opening itself. It doesnt happen on a regular schedule -sometimes it will happen 3 or4 times in a couple of minutes, sometimes only once or twice an hour but not less often than that.
It happens even when im not touching the tablet at the time so i dont think the screen accuracy/calibration would be causing it.
I have turned it off and off a number of times to no avail and Ive also tried a factory reset and even with no additional apps installed it still happens.
Finally ive tried it both with and without sd card in and it happens in both situations.
Oh, and the dock connector being attached or unattached doesnt stop it either.
Has anyone heard of this happening before and or have any ideas to solve this problem?
i get this too all the time. i'm not touching the screen and the notification pops up for no reason. sometimes apps open up randomly too, for example i get an email notification and the email app opens. very annoying when plugged into a projector whilst giving a presentation.
somebody must be able to help. I'm not rooted by the way and have no intention too.
Sounds like a hardware problem - the touchscreen registering fake touch events. Check for mechanical stress in the lower right corner.
Update
I probably should have added, like yours mine isn't rooted.
I also turned on the developer options for touch detection, and it's definitely detecting "phantom" touches in the bottom right corner so definitely hardware not software issue.
Unfortunately, yesterday I started having issues with the touch screen being unresponsive in the right third or so of the screen, so I've called Asus this morning and am RMAing the tablet anyway.
I'd suggest you do the same rob if it's still in warranty, in case its a prelude to larger issues like mine was.
interesting thanks both. i was weighing up an rma because my keyboard dock is getting very loose, letting the top of tablet move about an inch without hinge moving. i've turned on show screen taps and already seen one. thanks again.

[Q] Center of touchscreen intermittent

Hi, has anyone else had the center of their touchscreen stop responding? It has been intermittently happening for a couple of days, and I can't seem to pin it to anything I am doing or anything I have changed.
I attached a screen shot of the screen while scribbling in SketchBook to show how the center third of the screen is being skipped. To click anything in the center of the screen, I have to use the track pad on the keyboard.. Powering off and back on clears the issue, but it has come back several times. I hope this is not a hardware issue, what do you think?
Thanks!
BTW - This only happens while using the keyboard dock.
yeah when you close the tab, the keyboard holder presses on the screen too hard and creates a "ghost touch". On//off screen fixes it. as the hinge gets more loose it goes away. i went to developer setings and enabled visual feedback so could spot it.
It seems like when I pinch the rails together to reduce the slop and wiggle of the keyboard and tablet, the ghost spots stop for a few days. I got an AR Drone at Christmas and get nervous about flying it and losing control of the screen (crash and burn).

Dead / less sensitive horizontal stripe on the screen (touch)

Hey there,
so far, i am pretty happy with my S7. But there is one thing that is kind of worrying to me. On the lower end of the screen there seems to be a much less touch-sensitive area forming a horizontal stripe going form almost full left to full right. Its less noticable when i remove the screen protector (0.3mm 9h glas) but still there, and with the screen protector applied i consistently fail to hit the lowest row of keys on any keyboard app.
Question is, can this be a software-related issue and be fixed with an update, or is this a case of faulty hardware and should therefore be RMAed? Or is there something else i can do?
Things i tried: Factory reset, TSP-update via code *#2663# (which said "pass" but didnt change anything like version numbers), cleaning the screen, removing protector (which mitigated the problem, but its still there)
Its me again, with updates.
I have returned my S7 and got a new one. Funny thing is - its a completely different unit (different IMEI and S/N, seal wasnt broken upon arrival) and yet it shows exactly the same problems.
Can some of you please test the following: Using the stock Samsung keyboard, try to tap the spacebar right on the lower border. If i tap below the spacebar, it gets pressed. if i tap above the lower border of the spacebar, it gets pressed as well. But tapping right on the border will allow me to touch the screen surface without any signal registered. The keyboard is just for the height reference - from almost far left to almost far right this height is almost dead for finger touches - using a pen diminishes the problem.
Can some of you please try the same? Please check the height upon which your touches in that height get registered. Since i have gotten two phones with the same problems i suspect its a software problem and thus should apply to more people than just me. I have the SM-G930F Exynos.

I have the same problem in the video posted at the bottom of this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/help/s7-flat-unresponsive-touchscreen-t3343175
I have also noticed this problem. It all started out when I noticed I was making a lot more errors when texting. I'm coming from an S5 so the screen size wasn't the issue.
I then started tapping towards the bottom...space bar... period etc and sometimes it would miss. I could tap for like 20 times, and maybe there are 5 consecutive times that it didn't register.
May forum staff merge the 2 threads please?
It would also be great to have an official news in homepage with an official statement from Samsung about this issue

FINALLY Found a solution !!!
For those of you having this problem that sometimes the S7 or the S7 edge doesnot register touch somewhere near the bottom right area of the screen:
I (and i suppose most of you) had tried all the solutions like wiping cache, factory reset, soft reset, *#2663# and what not. None of them worked.
Now, the solution is, when this problem occurs, turn off the screen and press the Phone hard on the right hand side of the phone. Like the right half of the phone has got paralised, press it hard, squeeze it. Like, place it on the table or a soft surface and press with the thumb. 3 or 4 presses hard enough on the right hand side from the top to the bottom. And Voila, the problem is gone.... Enjoy your phone. The problem does come back randomly and do the same thing. It works instantly.....
