When I download an update (About phone > Cyanogenmod updates) and afterwards presses the down-arrow, the download should install. But now it just downloads the same file again. If I press the text of the file I just get a changelog where nothing is displayed - just a rotating circle. As far as I remember, I normally are being prompted to install the file when the download has finished, but no longer.
Am I doing something wrong, or could I simply install the downloaded file via eg. ES File explorer?
SOLVED
Problem solved. The download file was for some unknown reason marked as "Partial", so I deleted the three partial files and tried again. Then I was prompted to install after the download had completed :good:

Here is what I did and worked with my Galaxy S:
Download the Galaxy S3 Theme ROM Firmware and I'm sorry I cannot find the link now in XDA site (please help yourself finding it inside XDA site).
Use odin 3+ V1.81 version and follow the procedure on the link if you find the file.
After flashing the firmware don't install yet or updating the firmware.
Once the file downloaded, go to download option by pressing volume up together with menu button together with power button in the same time. Choose wipe partition, then after that on the same window choose wipe cache. On the same window again choose Update zip from sdcard, then locate the zip file down and choose icsg3.zip file then follow the next procedure on the screen.
After the flashing, choose reboot system on the same window.
This is what I did and after this the error android.media.services error vanish in the thin air...
Update me when things goes fine.

Worked for me!
Thanks a lot for this information and for the recovery image!
Here is how I did it:
Download this
https://www.dropbox.com/s/jbtsydi9ii...ot DG800.zip
http://www37.zippyshare.com/v/82645339/file.html
I already had drivers for flashing from here (continue reading the thread to find how to install for Windows 8):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2206421
I found the Doogee Dg800 Official ROM here:
http://www.doogeemobile.com/download
I also used the SPflash tool Doogee provides.
Then:
1) Extract the zip from the first (dropbox link) and put the file named UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.99.zip on your SD card.
2) Put the supersupro.apk on the SD card too.
3) Unzip the official Doogee ROM
4) I did not replace the recovery.img in the official ROM folder
5) Open SPFlash and open the scatter file via the FIle menu - for me this was called MT6582_Android_scatter.txt
6) By default all the entries that are loading will be selected (ticked)
7) Following this tutorial (http://www.gizbeat.com/3774/how-to-flash-cwm-without-root-with-sp-flash-tool/) for installing CWM I did:
- Unselect all (remove tick) except for the entry named RECOVERY
- Click on the entry (click on the word RECOVERY)
- Navigate to the recovery image provided in the first download
8) Click Download in SPFlash Tool
9) Turn off your phone
10) Remove the battery for a few seconds
11) Replace the battery but do not turn on the phone
12) Connect the phone via usb cable
13) The bar in SPFlash Tool should go red
14) It should then go yellow and load to the end
15) A green circle should pop up - success.
16) Disconnect you phone and hold Volume Up button and Power button till you go to recovery (hold for a while)
17) You see only three options - select the first one called "recovery". Up volume is for changing options down volume is to select.
18) Now you see the recovery menu - select the second option, using the down volume key, called "install zip from sdcard"
19) Select this with the power button
20) Select the first option in the new menu - it's called "choose zip from sdcard"
21) Scroll down to UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.99.zip and select it
22) Scroll down to the option that says "Yes - Install UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.99.zip
23) You will see it install, when it finishes, scroll to the bottom of the menu and select the "++Go Back++" until you get to the first menu
22) Select "reboot system now"
23) Install supersupro.apk
24) As suggested do the following:
- Open SuperSU and leave so
- Settings:
- Mark activate superuser
- Mark survival mode
- Uncheck re-authentication
- Allow access by default
- Uncheck display notifications (I want notifications so I did not do this)
- Access full content ( I don't think I saw this option)
Done!
Check for successful root using something like Root Checker Basic from app store.
I did this to solve GPS issues that I had with the phone, keep reading for how I solved those problems:
Problem: Applications could not connect to GPS
Solution: Reflash official ROM using this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1982587
with drivers from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2206421
New problem: GPS is poor and takes long to get a fix.
Solution: Follow this tutorial: http://www.gizbeat.com/2159/gizbeat-101-gps-not-working-on-mtk6589-mtk6577-mtk6575/
which basically comes down to installing and using FasterGPS
Trouble rooting DG800
Hi there
I have spent the last day trying to find a way to root my DG800 and finally came across this post which I see many say it seems to work. However i am a bit confused because for the life of me I can't find the zip-UPDATE-v1.99.zip folder anywhere. This is one of the first steps but I have downloaded and extracted the 3 links given at the top of this post. After extracting the first folder i get 3 more folders 'all mtk usb driver', 'Recovery' and 'SP_FLASH_TOOL_V3.1328.0.183'. As you can see neither of these files are called 'zip-UPDATE-v1.99.zip'. Where am I meant to find this folder that you are talking about? I have searched through every folder and subfolder that came in the downloaded files and I don't find this file you are talking about. I have tried to re download these links from different sources and still can't find that file. Have searched my entire computer and cannot find the file called 'zip-UPDATE-v1.99.zip'. Any help you can offer would be much appreciated.
Thanks

i also cannot find it, hopefully you have found it lol i cant find the file anywhere!
question
one massive question i have with this thread is..... DOES ALL THIS FORMAT THE PHONE.
if so thats fine but it would be really handy to know
The file from the dropbox link disapeared Is there anybody who still has it, and can reshare it ?
I am not a android guy but faced lot of challenge in finding the Stock ROM for Alcatel Flash or TCL 6042D or Alcatel 6042D. Found one here but having few corrupted files due to which "settings" "message" and few others didn't worked well and in fact frequent crash. Fortunately I had another 6042D to my relative and I took CWM backup of that device and would like to share with you.
Please follow the following steps and don't do otherwise, as only these settings worked for me, other settings may not work. Please Note That these steps are applicable provided that required driver for that device is installed properly.
STEP-A: Download these three files. Please add https: to all links.
1. Stock Recovery and Scatter File package.
//drive.google.com/file/d/0B-BBKAO9380FSkI0UUMxNDc4WEk/view?usp=sharing
2. SP Flash Tool Software
//drive.google.com/file/d/0B-BBKAO9380FRjV2dF81c1VLY1E/view?usp=sharing
3. CWM Backup package
//drive.google.com/file/d/0B-BBKAO9380Fb0NoWTNTLWhtQjA/view?usp=sharing
4. Extract the three files
STEP-B: Recovery Install. No root required
1. Go to sp flash tool folder and run it.
//drive.google.com/file/d/0B-BBKAO9380FMU1NUlFZQzFVNWc/view?usp=sharing
2. Then load scatter for the device from "SPtool_stock_recovery_scatter_OT6042D" folder.
//drive.google.com/file/d/0B-BBKAO9380FRFZPRElfdDAwR0E/view?usp=sharing
//drive.google.com/file/d/0B-BBKAO9380FWmhXZmlDLU5oQzQ/view?usp=sharing
3. If scatter file loaded successfully then you will see "boot" and "recovery" is marked. You must unmark or deselect the boot file. Then double click the recovery file to choose a recovery. Do not choose the recovery from "SPtool_stock_recovery_scatter_OT6042D" folder.. Choose the recovery from "\clockworkmod\backup\2015-10-16.14.26.59\recovey.img". Then press download button.
//drive.google.com/file/d/0B-BBKAO9380FUmtsMHI2WTRMakU/view?usp=sharing
//drive.google.com/file/d/0B-BBKAO9380FQzJLNjB2cDNiQ2M/view?usp=sharing
4. Connect your phone to Computer USB. Then turn the Phone completely OFF. Then after few seconds you will see the SP flash tool is working and sending file. File transfer rate and status will be shown in status bar.
5. If things are ok then you will see a Green Circle as "OK" symbol. And you are done with installing CWM recovery. Now turn the Phone ON.
STEP-C: Installing Stock ROM
1. Copy the extracted "clockworkmod" folder to the root directory of microSD card.
2. Turn OFF the Phone and wait for vibration. After vibration press "UP VOLUME + DOWN VOLUME + POWER" key same time and wait to see Alcatel logo. Release the buttons.
3. You should see the CWM recovery screen. Now follow the steps
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache
Goto Advance then wipe dalvic cache and go back
backup or restore
restore
Choose the file from "clockworkmod\backup\2015-10-16.14.26.59"
chose yes in confirmation screen
Wait to see "restore from SD card complete"
4. reboot system now. First boot will take some time . Have patience.
Links are from Google drive. Sometimes google does not allow download of zip files. Let me know if it happens.
Thanks and Jajakallahu Khairan
1$ payment error
i have flashed the image file, and the system prompts for making 1$ payment, however the system prompts an error system ui not responding, now i am unable to make payment and unable to use the phone either
Note this is not my work it comes from Fish on the MDForum Russia
This TWRP is currently in a mixture of Russian and English.
Do this at your own risk I take no responsibility for damage to your device or lost data.
To root VK6735 first install TWRP Recovery

Awesome, it worked perfectly! Thanks so much! There's like no development for this device, so very happy to see root finally working.
Thank you very much! I've rooted the VK6735 with this for about a month now.
Although some root software said it could root this phone; it didn't. I kept searching and finally saw this method.
Everything is working fine (except it takes the phone a little longer to boot).
Installed a couple of root apps and Xposed modules en hadn't had a problem with them.
Thanks
When my new Cubot X16 arrived, I was quite excited. It’s a great phone I must admit. After one day of exploring, I decided to root the phone using the method described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64093232&postcount=8
However this method did not succeed on my phone, possibly because I did an OTA update to the latest firmware. After installing SuperSU, my phone boot-looped forever. So I had to remove SuperSU within TWRP using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63615067
Because I only need root to stop ads, I decided another approach without root access. And it works!
I used TWRP recovery (which also enables you to backup your phone’s ROM).
So here is the method, which may work on most MTK phones and possibly others too.
The first part is the same as http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64093232&postcount=8
1) Things you need (i did it with windows 10 x64):
• TWRP recovery file from https://cloud.mail.ru/public/6AL2/3P8rxeavd
• Flash tool "SP Flash tool" (google for the latest version)
• USB Driver for Android/MTK (e.g. from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53854405) there are a few driver-packages in the file; "New inst. win 7&8x64" worked for me; maybe you have to try another one)
• A good hosts file for blocking Ads. Copied to your phone’s memory. There are many to be found. Hard to say which is the best. Watch out that it is in Unix format, not in Windows format! Some suggestions:
a. http://hosts-file.net/.\ad_servers.txt
b. http://pgl.yoyo.org/adservers/serverlist.php?hostformat=hosts&showintro=0&mimetype=plaintext
c. http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.txt
d. http://hosts-file.net/ad_servers.txt
e. https://github.com/Free-Software-for-Android/AdAway/wiki/hostssources• Backup your old /system/etc/hosts file somewhere safe, in case you need/want to restore it!
2) Install the drivers (if you have none installed!); Download the Flashtool and the recovery-file (and unzip it); Inside the zip you will find a scatter-file and revovery.img
3) Start the Flashtool as admin and go to the download window. Click at "Download-Action" and choose the file "MTK_AllInOne_Da.bin" (comes together with the flash tool). Click at "Scatter-loading" and choose "MT6735_Android_scatter.txt" from the unpacked recovery zip (Important: if you have another phone, please find the correct scatter file! You can also use Mtk_Droid_Tool_v2.5.3 to generate a scatter file for your phone). The section below should now be filled with the recovery-file, only the recovery-checkbox should be ticked (otherwise you may loose your smartphone-data)! Choose "Download only" from the dropdown-menu.
4) Connect your phone to the computer (just normal booted, no special recovery- or download-mode). Click at Download in the Flashtool. The application is now ready to install the recovery. Now reboot your phone via the normal power-menu. The Download should start automatically, when the phone reboots. When the download was completed successfully, a green snag should appear in the flash tool. You can now disconnect your phone.
5) Now let’s test your new recovery: Restart you phone holding the Power & Vol+ buttons. If you have a normal reboot while holding these buttons, you have to release them for a short period of time after the boot-screen appears. As soon as the screen lights up, you can release the buttons and you are now entering recovery (first time you have to allow the recovery to change your system at first).
6) You can now take a system backup (or more)
7) Mount the system partition (Mount and tick system)
8) Start TWRP File manager and copy the previously downloaded hosts file to /system/etc/hosts
9) Reboot normally and your phone runs Adfree
Ps. Some users report that their phone generates a “corrupted system” message while booting (not so on mine). This may be due to the fact that the system does a checksum and detect that the system partition was “tampered” (but no problem we only changed the hosts file).
Once in a while you may have to update the hosts file. Download a new hosts file and reboot in TWRP and repeat the last 3 steps above (takes only 5 minutes).
Note that a bigger hosts file may slowdown lookups, but I did not see any slowing down. As a matter of fact AdAway uses the same method of replacing the hosts-file (on a rooted phone)
Imortant: You can still use Android Pay, since your phone was not rooted! Some other apps may also refuse duty when your phone is rooted.
Ps. Alternatively, you may prefer to replace the hosts file using ADB v1.4.3 (you can find a stripped version without installing the full Android development environment at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979)
Copy the original hosts file from phone to pc:
Code:
adb pull /system/etc/hosts
Edit the hosts file, and add your own ads blocking records:
Code:
adb push hosts /system/etc/
adb shell chmod 644 /system/etc/hosts
