S2 and droid turbo 2 - Samsung Gear S2

First let me get out of the way that I know it isn't on the compatible list yet. But I was wondering is there a way to get the default messaging app to work between the turbo 2 and the gear s2 I've tried a few things. If I use the Verizon messenger I get the notifications but can't reply. I can use the gs2 messaging app and send messages but I can't see replys in that app. If I use the dt2 message app I can't get notifications on the gear. I have the notifications turned on and the limet turned off. Am I missing a step or do I need to wait for the app to fully support my phone?
And yes I know how to use google I've looked for two days for an answer before coming here.

Is there a way to get the messaging app on s2 when using lg v10?

Anyone found a way to get the messages app and the email app working on the gear s2 while paired with the v10? I am able to respond to text from the notification area or buddies list but i dont have an email or messages app in my app circle. I was told that its only able to use those app on the watch when paired with a samsung device but if there is no way around it i am gonna take the watch back.
I believe it is going to vary by each setup. I bought the S2 a few days ago. Calls and Gmail notifications come through fine on my V10. No messages notifications though although I have the messages app in my app drawer.

[HELP] "Messages" application is missing. No text messages notifications ?

Hello all,
I'm using a Samsung Gear S2 Classic on a Huawei Honor 6 phone, which is compatible, and since I've been using it (2 days) I've never recieved once a text message notification on it, or email. I recieve facebook messenger push notifications, so I can reply to the messages, but no way of going back to the application.
The real problem is that in the Tizen app menu, there is no "Messages" application, nor email for that matter. It's like they don't exist, they were deleted in the OS. But I know that they are there because I've seen the icons on video reviews on youtube. It's extremely frustrating to not recieve text notifications, it makes the watch useless. I've factory resetted twice, played with the options, sent hundreds of text with my phone in vibrate mode, silent mode, screen on, screen off, mixing combinations, but nothing works. I've tried looking on internet for this particular problem of notifications not working but have had no success in finding a fix.
This morning at work I factory resetted the Samsung Gear S2 once more and connected it to a friend's Samsung Galaxy S6, and when everything was synchronised I was shocked to see in the app menu on the watch the Messages and Email apps. I couldn't believe it ! So there must be some sort of compatibily issue with non-samsung (or non-galaxy ?) phones.
I've now synchronised it back to my Honor 6, the Messages app has dissapeard... furthermore I'm not recieving any notifications at all (no push notifications from FB messenger for example).
I don't know what to do, am I supposed to wait for an update ? Will there ever be one ? Are there any hopes ? Should I return my watch to amazon for a full refund ?
Thank you for your feedback.
PS : I imagine that this could be a smart move for non Galaxy users to oblige them in buying new Samsung Galaxy phones... but I would like to keep my android phone for another year at least.
Is the messaging app selected in Gear Manager to forward notifications? Email app?

Are you talking about Notification --> Manage Notifications --> select "Honor 6 internal messaging application" ?
I have selected Phone, and there is no messaging app in the list, which is weird. I think it's included in "Phone" App, since it's the same thing when you open Messages and Phone app on phone, just a different tab inside the application itself.
Here is a video showing the default messaging app on Honor 6 [Here is the video : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxiirboGxLnUUHllcW5tN1k3d0k/view?usp=sharing].
Both messaging and e-mail on the Gear are reliant on the corresponding Samsung (not Google, not third party) stock apps on the phone. It makes sense to disable them on the Gear when paired with non-Samsung phones. Third party apps that don't have corresponding apps designed for the Gear are managed through notifications - that includes messaging and e-mail.

Thanks for the response. However I have returned the watch, I'll wait probably another year to buy a smartwatch at a cheaper price and better compatibility. It's taken too much of my time already to configure and I've had enough of factory resets
I gave back my Samsung Gear S2 and got a moto 360 2nd gen : it's a completely different world, the moto 360 is 100 times better imho and fully compatibly. HAIL GOOGLE.

Differences between using with Samsung and Non-Samsung Phones

I was wondering if someone can tell me what to expect differently when using a Samsung phone? I'm currently using my gear s2 with a nexus 6p and thinking of getting the S7 but only if there are enough benefits to using it with the watch. Can someone who is aware itemize the advantages of using it with a samsung phone?
I use it with a non Samsung phone and the only thing not available are the messages and email apps on the gear.

I'm also running the 6p and I receive both messages and emails on my S2, no problem. You just need to make sure they are authorized via the on phone app.
Or are you saying you aren't able to enter or send messages/emails? I've not figured out how to do that .... but trying to do that via the small watch screen would be difficult anyway.

Yes i cant send messages or emails because the apps are missing. But of course i get the notifications on the watch which is enough for me .
I have a problem in accepting calling calls in Gear S2. I can see only Reject button, but no Accept button. I am using OP2. Does anyone has the same issue?
You don't have the e-mail app and SMS app, so You can only view the new ones without attachments if You have proper apps and settings for it (I use HUB for e-mails and Messenger(not the fb one!) for SMS in my BlackBerry Priv).
Also, You cannot answer the incoming call. You can reject + reject with text message, but not answer.
What is more - I found out that using non-Samsung phone the Gear S2 does not see the alarm from my phone. Previously it was vibrating and I could snooze / cancel it from Gear S2. Now I cannot.
I use it with LG G4 and I can't buy any apps... I can install only free apps.
How do u set it up to get messages on the watch. I got the free att gear s2 the 4g model, and I can pair it thru bluetooth with my iphone. When I get a phone call, the watch alerts me, but when I get messages, my watch doesn't receive any messages. I'd really like to know how to get it to receive messages.

Stock Messaging is Horrendous. How I got Google Messenger on my S3

So I was told upon getting my new S3 Frontier (Sleek as hell btw) that if I want to be able to send and receive texts I have to go back to the stock text app on my samsung phone.
Much to my dismay I did. Within an hour my phone crawled to a halt. Switched back to Google Messenger (Long Live Google) and much to my surprise, even though it keeps telling me when I try to start a new text that I have to use the default text app, i can still view and send texts with Google Messenger as my default. When prompted that I need to switch, I simply hit the X and it takes me to the Message threads and I can still create or respond accordingly, albeit looking like the stock layout. In fact, when I receive texts, it displays GM's icon for the text and lets me reply with no hangups. It even displays group messages properly compared to the stock text app. If you reply via the notification, it then skins the message threads to Google Messenger. It still won't display pictures, but that really isn't a big deal nor would I really want to see pic messages (hey if you want to give us support for it I won't complain). All in all, it would seem the S3 has half-baked support, or GM has it baked in, for third party messengers to be used on the Gear.
So I'm not sure if this is intended or I somehow got lucky, But I just wanted to pass along this bit of information and wanted to ask if there is a way to fully integrate my GM app into my s3 somehow?

Thanks for posting that. I use hangouts and was in the same situation. I never tried to actually send a message because the app said I had to go back to stock messenger. It works perfect!

Disregard
Yes same with chompsms that I use and love so much. I was already calling to find out about returning it and freaking out. But when I power cycled the units, everything works. I use it mainly for replying to text so it works for me. Hopefully we get more support from some devs

Now all I need are some watch faces. I remember downloading a huge amount of faces but don't remember from where. It was for my old moto360
Am I missing something? Mine just tells me to check my phone (Pixel type)
Edit: Nvm, read S3

If you have an LTE version, then turn your watch network setting to always on.
Are you all getting notifications. I have the S3 with Galaxy9s. I can read the messages but get no notifications on the watch.

Check your battery optimization. I had to turn off optimization on my OnePlus 7 Pro, then rebooted. Now I get notifications on the watch.

Question Messages on watch

Anyone got any tips on getting message notifications on the GW4? I am using it with a Pixel 4a5g. I currently have loaded the updated Google messages app on phone and watch. I have enabled notifications everywhere I can find for the app. I can open the watch app and read all my messages, but I can't get any watch notifications. On my GWA2, using Next, I was able to get the notifications and the message would pop up on my watch and let me read it. On the GW4 I have to open the app to read it. I am also open to any other messaging apps that others have found that work.
Update, I did get Next SMS to work, but I wonder if anyone has had any luck with VZW messages or Google messages?
You have to make Google Messages to the default text message app on phone to get notifications from it, and you can only use Google Messages for writing SMS after that.
The first thing I did was make Google Messages the default SMS... as a matter of fact, you can't even bring it up on the phone unless you do that. I know Google is just starting to roll out a new version of messages for using with watches, I don't know how to tell if I have that version or what that version number is, so I guess I will use Next for awhile longer and see.
This feels like a Gear app permissions issue. Check that the gear app on your Phone has permissions to read messages. Also it might be under device admin setting or something like that
I assume you mean the Galaxy Wear app, it does have SMS permissions enabled (actually all permissions enabled).
Note, as I said above, it works like a champ with Next SMS, so I think everything is enabled that needs to be. The difference would have to be with the messaging app itself.
You can also check settings on the watch itself. Settings/Applications/Permissions then scroll to Messages and allow everything one by one.
