Info for Mediatek MT6582? - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
Am trying to get information on technical aspects of Mediatek MT6582.
When purchased my Alcatel A460G the MT6582 was listed as dual core and listed by both CPU-X and CPU-Z.
Did search and only found info Only for 4 core MT6582.
Appreciate suggestions how to find info on dual core MT6582.
Thanks
Ken

Hi,
Forgot to mention I wonder if the Dual Core MT6582 is a Quad Core with 2 cores software deactivated or defective?
Wonder if there is any software that can check for defective CPU cores?
Thanks
Ken

According to Wikipedia the MT6582 is a Quad Core SoC. I guess that your Rom doesn't list or even deactivated two cores.
My Lenovo Tab 2 A7-30 has an MT8382. Related to your question, some research turned out that this seems to be the exact same SoC. I that right?
If so, is it possible to run a kernel or even Custom Rom built for the MT6582 on the MT8382?

Hi Cypher_01,
Thanks for your comments!
Have you Rooted the Lenovo Tab 2 A7-30 with MT8382? If Yes what did you use?
"According to Wikipedia the MT6582 is a Quad Core SoC. I guess that your Rom doesn't list or even deactivated two cores." Agree, hope there may be some software that can access the two other cores!
"My Lenovo Tab 2 A7-30 has an MT8382. Related to your question, some research turned out that this seems to be the exact same SoC. I that right?"
Did a search and found MediaTek MT6582 vs Media Tek MT8382 - System on a Chip http://system-on-a-chip.specout.com/compare/464-1080/MediaTek-MT6582-vs-Media-Tek-MT8382 and they are quite similar.
"If so, is it possible to run a kernel or even Custom Rom built for the MT6582 on the MT8382?" Good Question!

Hi ,
I have the lenovo A3500-HV and wanted the lollipop if the MT6582 are similar I think I will try with this guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/guide-how-to-port-lollipop-based-roms-t3223938
Even the marshmallow :silly:

After some searching I found that 2 things :
1- some one says mt8382 is fake (Chinasse)
2- and Mt8382 for tablet and mt6582 for phones ..
ANND I think I might skip porting and just try this ROM for my tablet :
http://www.mtkroms.com/2015/08/cyanogenmod-carbon-rom-for-mt6582.html
(BTW sorry I didn't give any information about the real post ..)

This phone doesn't have a Mt6582 chipset, this phone have the Mt6572, but for some reason is edited in the build.prop to appear has the 6582, I'm guessing that they do it that way to avoid you to flash of another pixi 3 4" to the phone thru SPflashtools, and they make the firmware unrootable so you cant change the build.prop to the original chip set model, that is the only logic explination that I have.

OPENSOURCE ISSUE
I purchased 3 devices and i have to choose one for me and rest for my brothers,But i am confused which one i should use.
Xolo Q1100 with Snapdragon 8228 CPU & Adreno 305 GPU
Xolo Q500 with Snapdragon 8225Q CPU & Adreno 203 GPU
LAVA IRIS 406Q with Snapdragon 8212 CPU & Adreno 302 GPU
I defiantly want to develop custom Roms and kernels but i cannot find any source codes of these. No sources provided by manufacturer and
nothing found on internet. My previous device was mediatek based.I am new to snapdragon.
Specification variations has no matter with device selection.I just want development and opensource.
SO any of the above processors have development future?
If any more info required then plz notify me....
I am mentioning here some good devs so they can give me advice.Sorry if you don't like my way.I apologizes.

Thing is although this phone is Qualcomm based and not Mediatek it is unlikely that the manufacturers will ever release the source code because they are Chinese companies but there is a chance. Search around being a Qualcomm device you might be able to find another device with the same chipset and with existing kernel source and use it.
Sent from my HTC One (M8)
Which one?
Well.it would be the best for you to pick up the first one in your list.:good:
because of several reasons which the first one is I.do have it myself, and I'm so pleased of that and secondly it's specifically designed to enable devices to switch seamlessly from app to app, enjoy breathtaking download speeds and play the hottest games and even enables best-in-class mobile experiences with all-day battery life.

Thanks for reply, and first one definitely seems good on specification table. But i need to choose device which has development future and for
that it must be opensource. So do you have any idea about sources for snapdragon 8228??And which device you own?
Well,as I said, I do have the first listed device and hopefully I have gathered some sources which were in chinise,
I had tried to translate some but most unfortunately I am not with my own PC right now but If I get there and if you wanted to,I can share them with you.

Hi. Thanks for using the XDA Assist forums.
The information you've provided is very generic and difficult to procure without more specifics about the device you're using. The best way to go about your quest is to first identify the device you have (Make, Model, Variant) and then visit it's development forum to learn about tweaking device features.
best of Luck.

[Completed] custom rom noob help needed

Hello I'm new to this forum and I'd like to ask some questions.
I have one of the most unknown phone on the market I guess, it's a Nuu Z8.
I believe there isn't a single thread about the Nuu Z8. Anyway to my point I was looking for a custom ROM (like CyanogenMod) but of course it doesn't support my phone.
Then I started to ask myself and now you guys, could it be that I can use a CyanogenMod ROM that isn't meant to be for my phone but possibly could work because it is made for the same architecture and stuff? (I found a few ROMS made for my architecture)
further specs:
cpu:
- MediaTek MT6752
- ARM Cortex-A53
- 64bit
- ARMv8-A
- 1700MHz
- 8 cores
GPU:
- ARM Mali-T760 MP2
- 2 cores
- 700MHz
RAM:
- 2GB of LPDDR3 800MHz single channel RAM
storage:
-32GB
DUAL sim and sd card
5.5" screen with 1080x1920 pixels
if more specs are needed you have to google:" NUU Moblie Z8 - Specifications devicespecifications . com
Edit: There also isn't a cwm or twrp custom recovery menu made for my phone but I can flash ROMS and ZIP/OTA files using flashfire.
I believe this also means that when I brick my phone I can't install the default ROM because I don't have an custom recovery menu.
Hi Gimly161
Thank you for using XDA Assist
I was able to find only one XDA thread regarding your device:
NUU Mobile Z8 Unboxing & First Impressions - Budget Phone - Great Specs (Joshua Bane)
CyanogemMod as well as every ROM, Custom Recoveries and Root scripts are developed regarding each targeted device. It would be difficult (dangerous indeed) to use other devices development onto your device.
So, as we do not have an specific forum dedicated for your device yet, our experts at the below forum may be able to help you. Please be welcome to post over in there.
Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Nice regards and good luck.

Post your device information below to help porting roms

Hi all,
I am requesting every user to post their device information given below to help rom porting from different devices. As this will become a list and will help porters to see device information from here.
The following information should be posted.
1. Your device name.
2. Android version
3. Kernel version (this is most important)
4. GPU ( which GPU it has such as Mali 400, Mali 450, etc).
5. CPU (which CPU it has such as MT6572, Snaapdragon 650 etc).
You can get this info by installing CPU-Z or AIDA64 from playstore
Thats all whats required.
As what i know is to port a rom from a device to other device you need to know 3 things.
There are good chances port will be a success
1. It must be same chip manufacturer such as MediaTek you can port mt6572 to mt6580, mt6582 to mt6580 etc.
2. It must have same kernel version although android version can be different.
3. Its Gpu must be same.
So i hope everyone is going to post their device info here so it can help porters to find the right devices for porting.
Starting myself
My device is Qmobile X35
Android version 4.4.2
Kernel version 3.4.67
GPU is Mali-400MP1
CPU is MT6572
I have ported miui8, cm12.1, cm13, ressurection remix 5.5.9 and 5.6.7 on my device successfully.
Now i m going to port pure stock android lolipop on my device if i find same kernel version to my device with lolipop rom.
I hope this list will help a lot as it will have full list of all devices info.
1. Samsung Galaxy J1(sm-j100h)
2. Android 4.4.4
3. Kernel 3.10.17-333157
4.Mali-400 MP
Please post your device info here this list will be helpful i request admins and moderators to make this post sticky please

Update Android on Elcano 2 (MT8389)

Hi everyone! This is my first post so..first of all I apologize for my grammar, I'm Spanish.
A few days ago I found at home a BQ phablet model Elcano 2 Quadcore. After charging and turning on the device I realized that it currently runs android 4.2.2. I managed to root my device so that I could update it to a more current version of android. The problem comes when I can't find any TWRP recovery or support on Lineage OS.
I have read that you can use the recovery of another device with the same specifications as mine but I have not found anything on the internet either.
Hope you can help me update my phablet. I don't need the latest version of android, by making my device useful I'm satisfied.
I downloaded the Aida64 application to know what processor I have:
MediaTek MT8389
4x ARM Cortex-A7 @ 1508MHz
1Gb Ram
32Gb ROM
7inch
Thanks dudes
