Is anybody gonna port the newly released alpha cm 13 for our version of the note 5,just wondering thats all its been released for the s6
Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk
It has not been released for the S6. They're still working on it.
It's hard because Samsung is using its new Exynos chipset. They refuse to release the source code for it, which makes developing AOSP roms like cyanogenmod difficult. One would assume that once they get it ready for the S6, it'll come out for the Note 5. But there's no telling how soon or if they'll even succeed before giving up and doing something else.
Here you go it has been released for several days now..http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3269984...We just need a multiboot kernel

ya, I saw that. I'm excited, but that's not for the Sprint variants. Devs are still working on the Sprint variant for the S6. Right now they have some of it working but no calling, SMS/MMS/data, camera or GPS.
Also, some of the people in the thread you shared asked about porting Galaxy S6's CM over to the Note 5. If you check the comments, you'll see that at least for right now, they're giving a resounding no.
was there even a CM12? I don't see many roms at all in the development section

No. I know there was a member working on CM13 for the sprint note 5 but came across many issues last I heard. Not sure if there is any progress or development still going on.
We may not have many developers making roms but the few we have are top notch.

well this phone is night and day from my last one
even the stock note flies in comparison, zero lag
all I really needed was free hotspot
but I always liked to flash CM roms, they were nothing but super
So no issue here, I can wait it out.

Something we have learned over the past few months is that if you don’t release, someone else will do it for you. Since we are open-source, we absolutely encourage it! Unfortunately, the quality of unofficial builds can vary, and we are serious about quality. Of course nightlies are always available, but we realized that having something that is a bit more stable on a more frequent basis is important. Starting now, we are rolling out our M-Series releases. M-Series builds will be done at the beginning of every month. We did a soft freeze of the codebase for the last week, blocking new features in order to stabilize. Our plan is to continue this (assuming that the response is good) up until stable release, and onward.
We aren’t exactly sure what M stands for. “Monthly”, “milestone”, or perhaps “MINE ALL MINE!”. Whatever it is, I hope that we are meeting the needs of community.
M-Series builds will be available under the EXPERIMENTAL tag. The filename will include the date stamp as well as the M version. These builds should be stable enough for daily use, and we encourage feedback and bug reports.
Tonight’s M1 build is available for these devices:
Galaxy Nexus GSM (maguro)
Galaxy Nexus VZW (toro)
Galaxy Nexus Sprint (toroplus)
Galaxy S2 GT-I9100G (i9100g)
Galaxy S (galaxysmtd)
Galaxy S B (galaxysbmtd)
Captivate (captivatemtd)
Galaxy S3 Sprint (d2spr)
Galaxy S3 VZW (d2vzw)
Galaxy S3 AT&T (d2att)
Galaxy S3 TMO (d2tmo)
Galaxy S3 US Cellular (d2usc)
Nexus S (crespo)
Nexus S 4G (crespo4g)
Galaxy Note AT&T (quincyatt)
Google Nexus 7 (grouper)
Sony Xperia Acro S (hikari)
Sony Xperia S (nozomi)
In standard CM style, we will continue to add devices as time goes on up until our stable release.
Head over to Get.CM to grab the latest build for your device. Installation instructions and other documentation can always be found at the CM Wiki and help is always close at hand over on our official forums.
Happy flashing!

This is interesting, will try. I do wonder if this differs much from other available builds we have except now it will be frozen for a month. Presumably those cleanups have already appeared in other builds? Maybe someone more knowledgeable about how that works can say. I do think it's a good idea.

Anyone know how to get the volume of either the monthly or nightly releases to work?
I don't mean the regular volume, I mean when recording video the volume is almost non-existent. It's very frustrating and I can't seem to find a fix, every AOSP ROM I've tried here is the same story as far as that.
I can record fine on a TW ROM so I know it's not a hardware problem.
Anyone else try the m1 yet? Any other issues besides data and volume while video recording? I've been waiting for a release candidate but it looks like this is the closest thing for a while so I wanna flash but still nervous cause I'm a noob ):

Thanks for talking about the 3g issue, I appreciate the roms everyone is making and modding but I think they need to tone down the mods that are trivial and concentrate on more major bugs. So ya I'd prefer fixing dropping 3g every 5 minutes to fixing a blue tooth bug that only happens when the third moon of Jupiter lines up with Plutos dark side of the planet during a tornado. CM10 M1
Flashed CM10 M1 3 days ago, came from Synergy 1.7 ICS ROM and have the latest radio VRLG1. Did a clean wipe and restored Apps w/Data using Titanium Backup.
All seems to working fantastic, great speed and smoothness to this ROM, battery life seem as good as stock or Synergy. Haven't noticed any data issues, volume on phone calls is good.
Minor issues, after flashing had to reboot twice to get past data activiation, and Trebuchet seem to have a little problem and kept closing. Load Nova as my launcher (it was my launcher on Synergy) and have had no issues since.
Yea I mentioned in official release thread my impressions but in case anyone is following this..I've had excellent experience. No real errors to speak of. It's a true stable build for me. Love it.
Is it me, or has development for this phone gone the way of the dinosaur? This is not a complaint... Just an honest question... With all due respect for the smart developers who have contributed their valuable time to developing /porting roms for our device I feel like the development has come to almost a standstill. I've been on these forums since the heady windows mobile days and I don't remember seeing such a lull in development. I check these forums daily for a nugget of new features or bug fixes. It seems like most of the original development roms pretty much came to a stop the beginning of November. I'm just wondering if I'm missing something. Has everyone sold their gs3s and gone to the note 2? It's disappointing because I love my phone and I've only had since September. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one wondering....

Original may have slowed simply because most devs are waiting to get there hands on 4.2. Which by the way there are already like 2 or 3 in the works.... Including the official cm10.1.

Yeah it seems like everyone pretty much started working on 4.2 when Google released that code.
When we start to see CM10.1 nightlies then I think you'll see the original development pick back up. The problem is that everyone seems to depend on cm or aokp for the low - level code and until they get things sorted out, none of the aosp ROMs are going to be changing much.

I do not think the Thunderbolt would be a fair comparison. You are talking about a flagship device of the S3 compared to a device that was released on Sprint as the EVO a year earlier then the Thunderbolt. The Thunderbolt was a failed device before it was even released. And HTC wonders why they lose money qtr after qtr.
Verizon needs another Nexus device! If the GNEX was not such a POS I would still own it...There is nothing better then getting Googles latest updates and knowing your device actually has a future...Even though Verizon took a while to release an official JB update for the GNEX we had a fully working JB Rom like a day or 2 after Google announced the OS and that was with everything working. If I was not in contract I would seriously be thinking about leaving Verizon just I could get a Nexus 4. It stinks to be at the mercy of these manufactures and carriers.
And while we have great devs it is no walk in the park to bring AOSP to these devices. We still do not have a fully non buggy AOSP Rom for the S3.

I would also say that development scales based on how much is liked or hated on the device from the manufacturer. I find that less development generally means less demand for changes.

It is comparable. The thunderbolt was the flagship lte phone. My brother gave me his tbolt and I put some use into it. For only a single core oc'd to what my CPU could tolerate at 1.5 it was a trooper. Big screen, first phone with talk and simultaneous data need I say more? Oh right dat kickstand. You wanna see slow go trudge in there for awhile. We waited for ICS for forever and I think HTC is still tugging their chains.
Tl;dr were fine.

I don't think there is a lack of development for this device. There isn't anything real earth shaking right now but we have come such a long way! So many great things have been accomplished! We have great devs and quality roms. The best thing I can recommend is inviting the devs in the T-Mobile and all the other service providers with a GS3. Visit there forums on XDA and contact there rom developers. I have done that and have at least one coming this way. There is nothing wrong with a fresh face and new ideas. Nonetheless, I'm impressed with our consistent development especially considering the holidays!
Another thing to consider is that many of the developers are students. Finals for many of them are the end of November or the beginning of December. Chances are they took a break to study as school is more important than the free stuff they do on these boards.

Wasn't sure if this is more Q&A or not.
Right now I have the evo 3d. Support for it was really good, actually still 2 or 3 developers working with it, so I'm running kitkat on it right now, which has kept me from feeling the need to upgrade right away.
Anyway, like a lot of other people I'm deciding between the m8 and s5, I might wait a little longer just to see what LG drops. I'm not too familiar with how developer friendly the Galaxy line of phones are, specifically the Sprint models. I've read varying opinions from there's little development outside of some TW roms to development is strong.
Developer support is a big deciding factor for me since it can really allow you to prolong the life of your phone, hence why I'm still using my evo 3d, though it's falling apart now and showing its age so its time to finally bite the bullet and upgrade.
Not asking anyone to predict the future on how dev support will be for the s5 but just looking for input on how it's been for the previous Galaxy phones just so I have some idea. Talking TW roms as well as AOSP roms.
Thanks!
Once you get used to using Odin to flash you'll be fine. I find that Samsung Galaxy's (I've now owned Sprints epic 4g touch, S4 and now S5) have always had excellent support here. I generally only root stock to clean up the crap software but on numerous occasions I've used full roms from XDA to see what else is out there.
A few annoyances:
1) Knox is security software that trips when you modify parts of the system and supposedly Sprint can use a tripped Knox counter to refuse warranty work. This has never happened to me however and I've had to swap handsets many times.
2) Samsung is good at getting you hooked on touchwiz and their ecosystem of apps; I like the smart view covers and it's been tough getting it to work on some of the roms available. I also like the Samsung default camera which thankfully works well on most roms, but some functions within the camera weren't available.
3) Root, in my opinion, is required to make Sprint's handsets run optimally. Mostly because you need to remove the crap software, but so far Chainfire has been fantastic getting root out very quickly for most of the handsets/providers within days of release.
Hope this helps!
So why don't you just look in the respective Galaxy phone forums and see for yourself how development is coming along? It's a simple thing to pop in here and there and just see the different ROMs, etc.
The Galaxy line is by far the most popular Android brand right now and as such gets a lot of developer attention.
I just pray @sacs will get an s5. He had the best rom ever for the s4. Id be willing to drop some $ if it would guarantee he got this phone. I am wondering, is there any developer currently working on Lollipop for the d2vzw/d2lte? If not, does anybody have any idea how to compile Lollipop for the SIII?
Been lurking around as well. Noticed that the i9300 and the i747 models (no longer unified) both have Alpha Lollipop roms in production. Currently on Moto X (First Gen) but would love to dust off the old GS3 to get an early taste of 5.0. Been looking into porting but it's well over my head, plus I don't want to be the guy who bricks his backup by trying to port an early rom build. Would love to see a thread pop up tho about a release

As the others have stated, I wouldn't recommend flashing the At&t variant even though we share similar hardware (basically the same). Since the GS3 is my backup, I tweaked their rom and it booted for me, but like I said, there is no voice/sms working even tho LTE does activate oddly. I went to the IRC to see what I needed to look into but the devs there confirmed that they are indeed working on a rom for you guys already and I know they have made better progress than me. Wasn't looking to duplicate efforts, so I said I'd just stop and wait like everyone else cuz it'll be so much safer in the end. Sorry if I got anyone hyped but legit builds are in the works by expert devs, so no worries!

The build, at least for me, has been pretty great so far. The home button does in fact work, you just can't wake the phone with the home button. But I understand that people need something very stable to use, but I'm OK with a few bugs.
Development has been stagnant. Makes me want to move to new phone. Why is Tmobile phone harder to develop for compared to 920C?

Devs aren't really interested in Rehashing the same stock roms with subtle differences, if we could do AOSP on this phone I'm sure development would be flourishing.

it's almost rude to say that, I understand why you think that but we have great Roms all c Roms can be ported to the t. It takes time for Roms to be developed and people work hard to do a great job, in time your needs will be met. Most people are waiting for Aosp to be ported anyway.

Well, fact is, TW is TW...until raymanfx gets the current cm13 project a little farther along that's all you're going to have...you can only make so many modifications to TW before it starts breaking (I'm no C programmer) so many of the roms you see are actually derived from the same stock bases...not always, but it's common....
