[Completed] PLEASEE!!!! I'm about to lose my mind. Someone has an answer. - XDA Assist

Long story short, in Bullet points
Currently In South America
Trying to access my bank account
Account Requires Text message code to enter
Lost my Sim Card
Have 2 phones (both no sim), laptop, tablet with Sim card
Sprint network.
m8 / S6e / Tab 4
How the hell do I get a text message
Basically, I was a victim of ID Theft last year, and added security to my account requires a text message. I can't change the setting in my bank account without getting into it, which requires the text message, so I'm at a catch 22. I have no SIM card in my phone. My M8 is unlocked/Rooted CMod. My S6 is stock. My Tab 4 has a sim card, but is not GSM and the sim card doesn't fit in either phone. I can't sign up for any Web Text services because it requires you to sign up with a text message verification code. I can't add a number from a friend to get the message, because I need to be in my account to do so. I had set up google voice in the past and my whatsapp number is linked as well as google hangouts, but they send a stand SMS. The bank needs me to fill out forms and stuff to gain access, but it's hard to do without a printer anywhere nearby.
In this day of technology, there has to be a way to get a text message right now to anything.

Hi,
Thanks for using XDA assist.
I'm afraid that all that can be done to solve your problem is to talk to your carrier to receive a sim card that fits (if possible), or find a temporary carrier that is available in your current location so that you can access to your account again. Keep in contact with your bank so that they understand the situation you face.
Alternatively, you can post in the Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum since your problem is not phone related. Please note that in order to post, you will need to create a XDA account.
Good Luck! - gsstudios

Sim Message appears every 30 seconds

I have a HTC Touch - Windows Mobile 6.0 device and recently changed mobile provider. Now whenever I active the phone on my device I get a pop-up with the same message each time (an ad for backing up the Sim contacts with the provider). If I press ok I get another pop-up 30 seconds later.
I looked for a way to turn off the pop-ups but can't find anything. Does anybody know a way to turn this off?
I don't have a solution for stopping the messages, but might I suggest actually taking the SMS's advice and backing up your contacts, maybe then it will actually stop bugging you?
Thanks Jadel I don't think that will help however, though I won't be able to test until I fully switch providers. My contacts are already backed up in Gmail, Hotmail and Exchange.
May be there is contact backup as sim service? Go to sim services and look for this service if any????? May be you can do something from there.

that's a good suggestion. it seems your provider has something to do with this as i'm not familiar with anything that offers this weird thing automatically.

Can't send POP3 email on Softbank X05HT

I use Windows Mobile 6.1 with Pocket Outlook to access my POP3 account. Until some time last year, I was able to send and receive. Then, for reasons unknown I could no longer send, maybe starting in autumn or winter 2009. The error message says (I translate from Japanese): "Could not send one or more messages. Verify that your network is functioning and that your account settings are correct, then try again."
I finally got around to calling Softbank and they suggested that I look at the port number. Well, the Pocket Outlook interface doesn't actually have an option for port numbers but I suppose that "domainname.com:587" should work. 587 is the port number that my regular Outlook is set to. I tried that on Pocket Outlook now but it doesn’t change anything... Same error message again.
The Softbank guys just keep tellng me it's not their problem, I should change the settings. So... what do I do next?
I don’t think you can change the port number for pocket outlook. flexmail will give you the option. Which email provider are you using?
However Softbank has definitely block the ports and you might need proxy settings. therefore roll the ball back ask them to set it up for you
Bulldog, thanks. You can imagine that Softbank customer support isn't supportive at all. My email provider is Verio. In fact, this is company email (my own company) and others in our company have no trouble with this. They have Softbank phones, use the same settings that I use, use the same SMTP server and have no issues. You can definitely specify the port number as I described. "domainname.com:587" is definitely OK but this doesn't solve the issue. I called my company's IT support guy and he gave me access to his personal SMTP server. Again, I cannot send. He thinks that my specific phone or email account for some reason must be blocked by Softbank....
Alex,
I have forgotten to ask...are you using the original ROM or cooked one
Besides Have you ever test your device with another POP email account and settings (i.e like Gmail)?
Still uncooked. ANd now I am going to do exactly what you suggest: do a lot of testing.
1) Same POP3 account on a different Softbank phone / SIM that I will borrow from a colleague
2) On a different Softbank phone with my own SIM
3) With somebody else's SIM on my own phone
And, as you suggest,
4) Different, unrelated POP account on my phone/SIM
Any other combinations you can think of?
Hello Axel,
The Test procedures (1-4) you thinking of are solid. They should give the answers.
Cheers mate
Ha! I haven't gotten my hands on one of my colleagues' phones yet but I dug out my old X01HT, put in my SIM card, fired it up and tried sending from there. And guess what: no problem, with the same settings I have always used (don't need to specify any port)!!! So what does this mean? My guess is that something with my X05HT is wrong. It's not Softbank per se and it isn't Verio either. So it's got to be the device... Concur?
Yes, Now I would I also think it is the device. If you haven’t yet delete the Pocket Outlook Account and re-setup again, do that first. If that did not help then I am afraid you would need to make hard reset after backing up all your user data.
Hard resert did it
Hello Bulldog, one thing I did not think of was to perform a hard reset. The lady at the Softbank shoi did that today as part of their routine to get phones ready for repair. When she did that I figured might as well try once more and blow me down, that did it. We still don't know why it didn't work before the reset but at least it now works!
Thanks again for your help!

Text message problems

Hi
I have a problem - sometimes i receive text messages and sometimes i don't. It could be due to not having network coverage but, when i do get coverage, i still don't receive the messages. I get other messages later on saying things like 'did you get my message'. I don't know if the problem is with my 4 year old sim card, the phone, or the network. I am in the UK using Talkmobile. P.S my calls still work and I can send text messages. I have an xperia play r800i
Thanks in advance

try to put another sim card and test it with friends, maybe it could help
You can go at your operator office and ask them to test SIM / device.

[Q] Atrix 2 on T-mobile "Sim card full"

I posted this in the N00B question thread but I was told to make a new thread.
So my friend got an Unlocked Atrix 2 and she is using it on T-mobile. When the sim is inserted she can make phone calls and send text messages but it says the sim card is full and it wont let her import the contacts from the sim card to her google account. In fact it says there are no contacts but that is definitely not the case because if you put it into the old phone they all show up. That being said I found a thread that apparently has the answer but I don't know what exactly I am supposed to do. Am I going to have to root the phone so that I can modify the XML system files?
Thread with supposed answer
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103967
I since rooted the device just so that I have the ability to do more but the Atrix 4G thread was of no help. I don't know what they did in there to get it to work. Anyone have any ideas?
Why don't you use the old phone to sync contacts with Google, then login with the same Google account on the new phone and sync again.

Transferring signed-in app to another phone

Hello,
I am trying to copy a messaging/voip app from my old phone. I used APK Extractor to copy the app.
The problem is with the app's login info. When I launch the app on my old phone, I get a message that the account is inactive and I need to contact customer services. But the app then works, I can make calls and check the credit remaining etc.
When I enter the account details (login and password, identical to the ones that are logged on on my old phone) in my new phone I get an invalid account message.
In fact the account is dormant, but still works. So obviously I don't want to contact the service provider.
The problem is not to retrieve the login details - I already have those - but how to flag the app as logged in.
Anyone have any ideas?
OK, I managed to solve the problem. I'll post it, in case it helps anyone else.
It turns out that the manual log in works if there is no SIM card present in the phone.
If a SIM card is present, the Freedompop app finds that either it is not a Freedompop SIM, or that it is an inactive SIM, so refuses to log in. If there is no SIM card present (for any operator), then the manual log in works.
