Device shuts down, when I try to enter TWRP from the bootloader. - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My phone works great with official CM13 and I just wanted to flash a new boot logo to get rid of the "warning logo", but I can't enter TWRP. I shut down my phone, enter the bootloader, click on "recovery" but then the screen becomes black and the phone is off. I reflashed the recovery, but nothing changed.

Try latest TWRP (2.8.7.0)!

Flash another TWRP version

Which version do I need? I don't have a GPE, but I have a CM13 Custom Rom installed. Or should I take the Stock Img No theme?
twrp-2.8.7.0.-falcon_GPE.img - 9.8 Mo (AFH Mirror)
twrp-2.8.7.0.-falcon_GPE_NOTHEME.img - 9.2 Mo (AFH Mirror)
twrp-2.8.7.0.-falcon_STOCK.img - 9.8 Mo (AFH Mirror)
twrp-2.8.7.0.-falcon_STOCK_NOTHEME.img - 9.2 Mo (AFH Mirror)
On the official twrp site, there is no 2.8.7.0. There is just 2.8.6.0, but I have already instaleld it.

Sry, I wrote it wrong. The flashing worked without an error, but it is still not possible for me to enter the recovery. No changes from 2.8.6.0 to 2.8.7.0.
I enter bootloader, press recovery, but the phone just shuts down. Booting to system is normally working and I can use my phone like always. I just can't enter the recovery.

No I don't think so. Should I try any wipes that don't erase my system like chache and dalvik. Or should I flash CWM to try if that works?
Edit: I can enter the recovery with "adb reboot recovery" and it works fine. Even the "flackering line" is gone , but I think that is because of the latest twrp update. What shall I do now to get recovery access from bootloader?

Hmhhh very odd
Step one is make full backup in twrp also backup the SD card so you can wipe the phone clean
I would try to use moto g aio tool from xda and return the phone to full stock
And then download the latest recovery IMG from the link the dude gave you earlier and flash it using the aio tool (there you can remove the warning boot IMG safely too
Then push your files back and try to restore (skip cache and dalvik)
Report back and Good luck
The backup is essential since you can access recovery

Thx for your advices. I think the problem appeared first after one of the latest cm13 nightlies. I now install the latest from today and maybe it works. I don't know if the ROM can cause problems with the recovery, but maybe.
Then I will follow your steps.

I flashed the stock rom through fastboot. Then I flashed latest twrp + fix boot logo => still the same problem (phone shuts down when pressing "recovery mode". But there is a new problem now:
I can not enter the recovery through adb anymore. I type "adb reboot recovery" -> phone reboots -> 4 sec black screen -> "no command" with the android on the ground.
I got no error while flashing the recovery except the standard error (mismatched partition size recovery).

OH MY GOD.
I have never been such a retard...
In the bootloader I pressed the power button to confirm instead of the volume up button. oh damn.
I became used to the power button as the confirm button. I'm so clumsy in the last time, also with my motorcycle. I destroyed the electric a bit, because I connected two wrong cables...
Edit:
Flashed again to the stock rom for the 2nd time. Now everything is working for now.

Cant RCK tf300t

Hi, Im trying to install cm 11.0 on my tf 300t, im trying to install TWRP. The boot loader is unlocked and the device is rooted. I tried get into the fast boot menu but cant. I hit Power and vol down and get into a new screen with a row of 3 icons. I see the RCK and hover over the button for 5 sec... nothing happens. I waited for 5 min an nothing happened. I then tried to hit the volume up button but that fails and re boots me into the OS. Im running 4.2.1. Is there a Fix for this problem? Can I install TWRP another way? (maybe through ADB?) Thanks

The first time you install TWRP, it should be through ADB (fastboot). Flash it from your computer. After that, you will be able to flash ROMs from the recovery menu on the tablet.

Now I have another problem, both TWRP and CWM don't have access to any files. They still boot up, but they don't have the ability to install or find any files or create logs. Im getting the errors saying nothing can mount.

Did you flash the 4.2 TWRP file? CWM has no version that woks with the 4.2 bootloader, except for the one in the flatline.img for NVFlash. If you flashed the regular TWRP recovery by mistake, follow the instructions here to recover, and start all over again. Remember to choose the correct recovery.

Ok, so i'm assuming I need the openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-tf300t-4.2.blob file. I DO have access to fastboot, can I just flash over the other Twrp recovery installed? Or do I have to follow the steps at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44244313&postcount=12 ? Thanks.
So I ended up flashing the blob file, and it did work. But when I tried installing CM11 I got an error and it shut down. Now I had a boot screen of the ASUS logo, flashing on/off every 20 sec. BUT I did make a backup, and was able to restore the system from that. Can anyone tell me what I have to wipe/do to install CM 11 on the tf300t? Or even cm 10.2 if its easier.
some (maybe) useful info
- I can boot into fastboot
- I can boot into the OS
- I do have a backup in case anything goes wrong
- I have twrp 2.6.3

I can't root my OS12 !

And I have no idea why. Before I downloaded the newest update I upgraded my TWRP to the latest version. After the update I tried first to install SuperSU via google store but didnt work so i downloaded the installable zip and tried through TWRP. All I get is : E: failed to verify whole-file signature; E: signature verification failed.
Tried the old SuperSu that always worked (2.02) but I get the same bug.
I think the problem is that instead of TWRP when i start my phone with start button + vol down it gets into CYANOGEN recovery. I just installed TWRP ver 2.8.5.1 but its not working =/ dont know what to do, help please

You need to resinstall TWRP, just after you have done so, reboot back to TWRP instead of rebooting the whole system. Once back in TWRP you can flash SuperSU again, then reboot and you should be fine. Also make sure you have the cyanogen recovery option unticked under developer settings.

Once it flashes, are you rebooting back into recovery first (without switching off, fully rebooting, anything else)? You should boot into TWRP and then you can reboot fully, it should be fine. If you just reboot out of TWRP after flashing the it gets overwritten by the stock cyanogen recovery.
After completing the TWRP flash in ABD run the following command.
Code:
adb reboot recovery

okay so instead of fastboot reboot command i should write the one you gave me? gonna try

Okay. I tried and tried but failed. I have no idea what to do anymore. Downloaded new drivers for pc and new fastboot, tried like 15times to flash twrp on my phone and seemingly it worked but when I rebooted, turned it off and on again with volume - it's always cyanogen recovery there, never twrp. I downloaded twrp manager but it won't work because it requires root and I can't root because manager won't work. Saw on oneplus forum that some people have exact same problem but there S been no solution so far and I have no idea what to do anymore. The only thing I haven't tried yet is to hold start+volume- keys after I flash twrp and reboot the phone using the code, so instead of having to turn it off and on again maybe I ll be able to get into the twrp instantly and it won't get overwritten by cyanogen recovery.

Bricked my phone need help please!

Today I accidently wiped my internal and external sd card from twrp recovery mode. I was on Lolipop 5.1.
As I wanted to install Cyanogenmod Rom I tried to reflash CWM recovery. Ater doing that I was not able to enter the twrp recovery anymore. I had accecs to the unlocked bootloader and tried to reinstall the boot, recovery and system via fastboot but without any success. The phone did not boot and I couldnt enter recovery mode anymrore.
Now I accidently flashed via fastboot a wrong boot and recovery firmware (4.1) and since that I can not even enter fastboot. The pictre shows where I am stuck. On the bootloader page it says:
Error
Func NO: 10 (FUNC_BOOT_RECOVERY)
Error NO: 2
Can somebody help me to repair my device? Its brandnew.
What can I do without a recovery, without a system and without fastboot.

No because I had twrp recovery installed and tried to flash cwm over it. After that I had no recovery at all. But I made some progress now... I am able to flash the same newest twrp 2.8.7.0 recovery to the phone and I managed also to flash the 5.1 stock recovery. I flashed BOOT.img from 5.1 and SYSTEM.img from 5.1 and I got rid of the error in fastboot menu.
Stock recovery I can flash via installer_r24.4.1-windows from acbka.

And these two recoveries seems to be the only one that work on my phone....? Currently I have stock recovery installed and i put MT7-L09C900B324 on my sd card (dload/UPDATE.app) and did the three buttons rescue. It seemed to work but It stoped at 90% and still no luck. What am I doing wrong this time?
Hi Suite does not recognitze the phone. When I abort the istallation and reboot the phone starts with the Huawei Logo and goes black and starts to the Huawei logo and goes black and so on...

And after that do the three button rescue with the newest B 324 firmware which I have had installed before I destroyed my OS..
and my camera is now running normaly which was the initial reason i tried to install a other firmare.

When you say flash stock recovery for all LP versions, did you flash and then reboot each time? or flash over and when complete, flash over again still on fastboot?
Can you briefly describe in steps? Tnx! and Glad you were able to recover

I flashed via fastboot the stock recovery which you can download via the link above. the provider (user rowihel2012) claims, that this recovery works for all lolipop stock roms.
After that I made a reboot and pressed (power button and volume+) to check if its installed.
Than I downloaded the lollipop version I have had previously installed. In my case this was the B324 European version.
I put it on my sd card (dload/UPDATE.app) and launched the phone with the three button rescue method. The recovery recognized the rom on the sdcard and started to flash the OS.
After less than 5 min, my phone was restored.
I have made the experience, when using certain roms (B324, B308 etc..) with certain stock recoveries, I was not able to flash the OS and the recovery stoped always at 90%.
The recovery linked above seems to work great for the B324 version, I haven't tried any other stock roms with it.
I wonder if this will work for B327? Seems the actual last update for LP was B324, now I can't seem to get out of this firmware to go back to KK. When I flash transition B300, it's successful...but for some odd reason, when I flash 137, 143, 145 or 148...I auto go back to B327. This, after the fact I'm flashing those firmware's recoveries. Any ideas what I might do to get out of 327?
---------- Post added at 01:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:38 PM ----------
Also, what's this Vol+ and Power technique?, all I get is the three menu screen (reboot, factory reset and format cache).

You can try this recovery above which should work for all lollipop roms but I have no better idea as I have had basicly the same problem and could only flash the former rom i had installed whch was B324.
The Vol+ and Power i do to get into the recovery menu (the three menu screen) to check if the recovery was flashed successfully. I have had often the problem after flashing a recovery that it did not work. this is to check if the recovery works.
When i tried to flash a cwm recovery, i couldnt enter any recovery mode after that anymore. I panicked at this point but than i realised that not all recoveries did work for me. For example I could never flash a CWM recovery, not sure why. Maybe because I tried to flash a 4.4 recovery and I had a 5.1 BOOT.img installed?

I see, so then it seems like some recoveries did in fact work with fastboot on me, because the Vol+ and Power worked, but it either only put me in V100R001C900B300 OR MT7-L09C900B300. I've read that I can't just flash KK over LP, that I needed to flash the B300 which is why I flashed transition package first. Should I not have done this?
Once in transition mode though (I booted up and checked, then went back into recovery), if I flashed 4.4 (recovery), it oddly put me back to B327...strange even though the recovery flashed was B137 or B145.
Let me see this link above. I'm back again at 5.1.1 LP B327. I'll do instead fastboot and flash above the recovery and so on, and I'll post the results, if any. Oddly enough, if I flashed boot, recovery and system images of 4.4, I get an "Android" boot screen that hangs, no Huawei.
I really like LP because of some of the features not found in KK like the dual windows, camera tweaks, etc. But no root yet available. TWRP doesn't seem to work as well, fails in fastboot.

After a 36 hour marathon my mate 7 is back and working. the trick was to flash the stock recovery for all Lollipop versions wich can be foudn here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mat...8-7-0-mate7-android-5-1-t3156779/post61958212 via linux. I somehow seem to have had trouble over wndows.
And after that do the three button rescue with the newest B 324 firmware which I have had installed before I destroyed my OS..
and my camera is now running normaly which was the initial reason i tried to install a other firmare.

Okay...so I was able to flash down to B324, but not via the link provided. What I did was, flash B300 cust.img on (fastboot) then flash boot/recovery/cust/system.img (fastboot). Rebooted with VolumeUp + Power to check for recovery (success), performed a wipe and done! Back to B324.
Now I gotta figure how to go back down to B145, which is where I was at with Root and with no problems at all. If I flash B300 again and then B145...I get the "Android" logo (instead of Huawei) and then the HAM7 reboots and recovers itself back to B324.

installed 10.4, can't install twrp

anyone managed this? 10.4 flashes ok, and i can install twrp recovery but can't get it to start into twrp. using 'fastboot boot twrp.img' while holding up restarts but screen eventually shows kinda corrupted colours then restarts. recovery remains as standard miui.

What version MIUI version exactly? And what TWRP did you use?
You must install 3.3.1 or Orange Fox otherwise you will brick.

managed to flash that but can't boot into recovery, holding up doesn't give the corrupted colours, but it eventually vibrates then just boots into system again.

Do you see the TWRP screen at all? I'm on 10.4.4 Global ROM on 4/64GB China Redmi 6 (unlocked bootloader of course)
1. Flash the recovery as normal
2. enter 'fastboot reboot recovery'. Hold down Vol + when you press Enter on your computer
3. Keep holding down the volume up
4. After a while the TWRP logo will show up. Do not let go of Vol +
5. Within another 5-10 seconds the phone will reboot. Do not let go of Vol +
6. The phone should then boot into TWRP again. On the second reboot into TWRP, you can let go of Vol +
After installing I'm not able to flash magisk successfully
theirs no install error adhere then system encription BS ..
zip gets flashed successfully but no magisk manager installed , after manually installing magisk manager akp, theirs no magisk system component installed
any ideas ?
Glitches instead of TWRP Rec Mode
Hey guys, I have got the same problem.
I had problems rooting the phone with twrp problems, such as: "couldn't mount" and "data encrypted" while doing the wipe format data. And Once I fixed these problems the phone got stuck at boot (not boot loop, it just was in boot for 20+ minutes).
So I flashed the last firmware with miflash. Installed it. The phone worked and I could go in fast boot mode.
But when I installed the twrp, in recovery mode, it just showed glitches with green, red, blue colours. I tried different versions of twrp and also tried to wait 20+ minutes and flash it in the terminal.
Nothing.
The phone is unlocked and I have usb debugging etc... in developers options.
Now I flashed the firmware again but still the same problem. I think that 10.4 may be the problem.
I would love to know if someone has the solution... I'll still try to use older versions of stuff.
that's exactly what I have installed - just to point out:
global image tested: cereus_global_images_V10.4.4.0.PCGMIXM_20190927.0000.00_9.0_global_d8716e22a3
twrp used:
twrp-3.3.1-0-cereus.img 16.6M 2019-05-19 03:42:44 EDT
twrp-3.2.3-2-cereus.img 16.6M 2018-12-26 19:51:21 EST
twrp-3.2.3-0-cereus.img 15.7M 2018-11-13 18:42:11 EST
I am a beginner in the android world so If I say something off, that's the reason why
rooting problems part 2
Guys, I would really appreciate if someone could read this message and tell me what to do, I would be glad to spam him thanks meter.
So I fixed the glitchy things in twrp flashing this: cereus_global_images_V10.3.3.0.OCGMIXM_20190610.0000.00_8.1_global_66306fcb5b
then I had the twrp recovery asking for ? a password?
(not the type "yes" and no the phone password either...).
I tried different twrp and this one didn't ask it: twrp 3.2.3.1cereus
as always I had the problem "couldn't mount data" that I fixed by --- advanced wipe --- data --fat/exfat... But then it gave me the same problem again.... "unable to wipe data" "unable to format or remove encription" and I forgot to write down how I fixed it...
Finally, after all of these problems, I did a format data properly and it worked. I turned off the phone and moved magisk.zip in the "android" folder in the sd card.
I installed it in the twrp and it worked. I rebooted the phone clicking "reboot phone" at the end. It asked for a password (whatever I typed was correct) and it said to me that the data was corrupted and that I had to reset the phone... I clicked reset and now is stuck in the twrp every time I turnoff.
I can access the fastboot mode but this is a loop (I should try another global image and see if it works but the problem is after the twrp process...). I would really appreciate if someone could help me solve this. I'm not pretending, I'm just asking. I respect your time and I hope someone could help. Thanks for reading.
Orange fox e TWR não funcionou na versão 10.4.4
consegui quando fiz um downgrade para 10.3
Same Problem here.
MRedmi 6 cereus
MIUI11
used latest TWRP twrp-3.3.1-0-cereus
I can flash it by using fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
but
'fastboot reboot recovery' doesnt boot the phone into twrp recover. It boots into system
Any solution or this?

Phone keeps booting into TWRP

So, I flashed my samsung a10s with an unofficial twrp posted, and everything went fine.
But when I tried to flash a GSI (I tried lineage, and the AOSP ones), everytime I reboot it brings me to the recovery menu. I cannot boot into download mode or anything, it straight up puts me into TWRP.
I do seem to get a `invalid argument /metadata` sort of error
Any idea how to fix this?

First, flash stock rom.
Then install twrp, do a wipe and a factory reset. Install GSi image but do not reboot to system. Turn of the phone and boot to recovery again. Then do a wipe and reboot to system.
Do not enter to recovery again, idk why but entering recovery breaks the rom.

I tried both the power combinations and the TWRP reboot into recovery, they both did not work.

U can't enter Download mode with the power button. Power off the phone. Hold vol up and vol down then plug it into a pc. Do not release vol buttons until blue download screen appears.
