Recently received my orbit 2 and it came with a 1gb micro sd card and copilot. I want to upgrade to a larger card but will that mean losing copolit? Not sure if it installed itself on the card the first time I turned on the device, or if it came on the card to begin with. If that's the case, how do I switch this over to another card? Thanks.
Everytime I upgraded my MicroSD card, I just copied everything I had on the card to a folder on my computer, then inserted the new card in the phone and copied it back.
Everything ran the same exact way as it did before I upgraded the card. Even all my applications that were installed on the card.
Great, thanks
Was about to buy a new card (going for 2gb), when I found a few choices:
- sandisk micro sd
- sandisk micro sd premier
- or I could go for sandisk 4gb sdhc
Is there any difference in performance or anything else between the above? Any advice on best option for the orbit2 (or even other brands)?
Cheers.
I'm using a Sandisk 4gb SDHC card. Works great.
If i'm not wrong SDHC is a completely new technology, and the cruise is one of the first to support it.
Thanks, I was impatient and just went for the normal 2gb

I just dumped a 2gb in favour of an 8gb. It was only £30 or so, might as well!
SDHC
I cant get my orbit 2 to see an sdhc card. Can anyone help?
I've had a A-Data microsd HC 8GB card with miniSD adapter for about two months. It all worked well until I took the card out of the phone and put it into a card reader. The computer recognized the card, I transfered some big files (it's quicker to transfer than using USB...) and then ran into problems with my P3600. First, no card was found by PPC. I made a few hard resets, formatted the card, tried other roms... Nothing seemed to help, so I took the card back to service and they gave me another one right away (a replacement). Of course I was very excited since I cannot live without some memory in my HTC. Inserted the new card and... again nothing, saying "Not installed". Yes, I read there are problems with SDHC cards, but I'd like to get it working as soon as possible (tomorrow I'm going to Germany, so I'd really need it), if no solution, I'll have to be statisfied with my old 2GB MINISD.
Any solutions here??
Tried almost everything.
Thanks,
e
have you tryied with a different adaptor?
no... i was thinking about trying my father's but i don't want to mess up thing for him also. the the microsd -> minisd -> sd -> computer seems to work just fine
SDHC Problems
I think you musst format the sdhc card in --> importend---> FAT32 FORMAT
on you Pc!
Check file manager
Using File manager check that, when you removed the card, the OS didn't create a new Storage card. If it did, your card will become Storage Card 2 and not function correctly.
The cure is to remove your card, delete Storage card from My Device, put your card in and soft reset.
Good luck.
I risked my father's MINISD adapter and it works... so it was the adapte causing all of the problems :/ I'll go and buy another one.
Thank you for your help anyway!
Bye,
Hello,
can you tell me what you did to get this micro SDHC to 8Gb work ?
I only see half of the capacity on my HTC 3600 ?

I have the Sandisk 8 Gig microSD w adapter in my Trinity and it works perfectly. In fact it is the best memory card that I've ever used going back through all of my PPC devices. It hasn't had even one single issue.

which ROM/windows verion are you using? you might need to flash a different one or apply a fix - search and you'll find-it
Only 4GB SDHC work in default Rom WM5
Update to WM6 and 8GB SDHC working fine.
I recently bought a Sandisk 8gb sdhc memory card for my xv6800. When I placed it in the phone it did not install. My phone states that there is no storage card installed and that the external memory slot is not in use. I looked around but I still have not yet been able to solve this problem. I was thinking that maybe I bought the wrong memory card for my 6800. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
You bought a SDHC memory card (SD 2.0), maybe your device doesn't support that version, but non-SDHC card (up to 2GB)?.
If it does maybe software upgrade is needed, or finally the card may be is broken.
i will buy a different storage card for my titan and download a software upgrage. I will see if that works.
I've read 2 different things about how much memory the Captivate will see. Does anyone know for sure if it's 48 or 32 gigs?
I put my 32Gb Sandisk in my Captivate today...and it mounted ok, all 21Gb of installed music and movies on that card seemed to work fine, based on my random sampling.
Keep in mind that it makes a "fake" /sd directory in the root of the internal /sdcard, and that points to the external storage when using an Android file explorer like Astro. And also keep in mind that there's a lot of apps that just don't know about this directory, so they can't "see" the external storage.
Windows sees two distinct storage devices, however, as it should be.
It has build in internal 16GB (2GB of that is reserved for apps) rest 14GB is data for whatever, Plus whatever Micro SDHC card you will add.
16+16 SD = 32GB
16+32 SD = 48GB
I have put 16GB micro SDHC to it (32GB cards are to expensive) connected to windows i get two drive letters one for Internal 14GB Data partition and one for my own 16GB card.
Hope that helped you.

Yep the ATT site spec sheet says 32gb is supported by the phone. And from all appearances it does indeed seem to work with the phone just fine.
Now the real question. Who is going to tear apart the phone and replace the internal SD card (since I assume it's literally an internal microSD card as seen in other devices) with a 32 GB card and see if it can handle 32+32 GB.

you seem like a willing volunteer
hmm if only i had two 32gb sd cards i would but they expensive
The real reason for replacing the internal SD card would be because it's so damn slow.
I agree with the slow part hence the mods to change the cache onto the external which speed up the phones.... any word on if the internal SD card is replaceable or not? If it is, that would be great news as its definately not as fast as a class 6 card and replacing it with one would definately speed things up.

Haha, exactly that. If I had the money for two 32 GB cards I'd try.
Edit Hmm... I saw a tear down of the Galaxy S and I didn't see an internal microSD card, so maybe it doesn't use a card like the Streak. Might be built in and unable to swap. Oh well!
Does anyone else have an issue with there phone telling you that your SD card is slow ?
I had a Sandisk 64gb Micro SD card and when i formatted it to use it as internal storage it told me the card appears to be slow and some apps may become juddery....
So i purchased a Sandisk Extreme Class 10 64gb memory card but get exactly the same message, am i missing something ?
Cheers

I seem to have the same problem except I don't have the option to go ahead and format it. It says: SD card too slow for use as internal storage. This SD card is too slow for use as internal storage.
To format an SD card as internal storage, try using an UHS Speed Class 3 SD card. This was with a Samsung Evo Class 10 SD card. I then went and got a UHS speed class 3 SanDisk Extreme card like it specifies and I still get the same error. It won't let me go ahead and format it.
