Can't delete old ROM files - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I went from the original Cyanogen (11?) that was originally shipped on the device, then switched to try Oxygen when it came out, now I'm back with CM12.1. But the 715mb O2 files remain on my phone in a folder called oxygenos_1.0.0.
There are two files in the folder:
oxygen_1.0.0_flashable.md5 @ 57.0b
oxygen_1.0.0_flashable.zip @ 715mb
I've tried to delete in ES File Explorer (says they cant be deleted) and also when plugged into my computer. Both file's properties are read and write, no protection
Any ideas?

Where are those files located? In SD card or root.?

SD Card

Were you using TWRP when you copied the files? If yes, boot to TWRP recovery and delete the files through there.
I think this question should be in Q&A, Help and Troubleshooting.

[Q] trying to install rom

Hello, I'm having a bit of trouble putting a custom rom on my Samsung Infuse 4G. I followed the insructions in gtg465x's latest rom post, but it doesn't work for me. I'm rooted and installed the 3e recovery that says it bypasses the signature verification mumbo, but upon reboot it says "E: failed to verify whole- file signature"
"E: signature verification failed". Should I set it back to factory specs and start over? Yes I'm a noob at this.
I don't think the proper recovery is installed. Maybe it didn't replace the original one like it was supposed to or something.
I would try reinstalling the proper recovery again and then installing CWM.
wrong folder maybe
ok, thanks, I may have put it the wrong folder. I unzipped in on my computer, then dragged the file to the "downloads" folder on the internal sd card. l' ll keep reading maybe ill figure it out.

Yes use Root Explorer and replace the stock recovery in system/bin folder.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
It has to be placed in /system/bin with proper permissions (I forget what perms at the moment).
I believe at this point the easiest way to install Modded 3e Recovery and CWM is to flash the Community Voodoo kernel using Odin (Samsung's update/flash utility)
Unfortunately I can't help you with that, I did it the hard way (replace recovery with modded 3e using the shell and not Root Explorer, since I'm a Linux guy and very familiar with Linux/Unix shells.)

[Q] Can't find zip in recovery mode when trying to install rom

Hi All.
I'm new to this and trying to install my first rom (aiming for cynagenmod 7- it has the language support i need, or so they say)
I rooted my phone and followed a yourtube video titled "How To Install CyanogenMod 7 Nightly on T-Mobile G2x after Nandroid Backup"
When i get to the part where i need to install zip from sd card, i can't find the file. I went back and copied the zip file into a few different folders, and although i can locate the folders, it tells me that the file cannot be found.
How do i get around this? Your help is much appreciated.

How did you download it? Through rom manager or from the phones xda app, browser? Look in folders with xda or rom manager?? Next time just copy and paste it to the root of the sdcard, not in a folder.

Downloaded it on a computer and then copied it to sd card
and you can't find where you put it? did you place it in a certain folder already created... you can plug your phone in to pc then enter recovery mode, go to storage and mounts at the bottom select mount usb then copy the zip to your sdcard in no folders.
When i try to do that t tells me unable to write to ums lunfile (no such file or directory).
From recovery mode there are some folders i can't see when i browse the folders on the computer when the phone is booted up normally - and vice versa. Is this an indicaiton of a problem?
Silly question: do you actually have an SD card inserted in your phone? If so, what did you use to format it?
i do have an sd, and i actually didn't format it. should i format? if so, what is the best way?
Your help is much appreciated

Did you try, while in recovery, taking the back off your phone, pop out the sd card, wait 1 second, then pop it back in?
Stupid question, but it's a mistake some beginners make, but did you unzip it by any chance? That could be a reason CWM isn't seeing it. Once you DL the ROM you need to leave it untouched. Then place on SD.
After that in CWM go to choose zip from sd.
And you attained CWM via NVFlash correct?

no, didn't unzip, left it as cm_p999_full-201.zip
and yes, did get the CWM via NVFlash
Maybe you accidentally copied it to internal memory instead of the sdcard. You can check in cwm under internal sdcard I believe is what it is called.
When you connect the phone through USB it mounts both internal and the sdcard.

My file explorer sees it in both the root and the folder I created in the root - both can't be seen in recovery mode.
Should i list the directories i see in both views?
In cwm are you selecting install zip from sdcard or install update from sdcard

I ask it to install zip from sd and not update

you may have put it on the "internal sd card" instead of external sd card, however this is not an issue if you flash CWM 5.0.2.0 or later, it has an option to install zip from internal sd and external. i renamed my external sd card to avoid future confusion (otherwise i see two "removable disks" when i plug my phone into my computer)
Check your file names on your SD card. Check what you see listed in Recovery. If you see differing file names, then you're accessing the wrong memory.
I'm going to assume you tried booting with the physical buttons. Try booting with CWM which should give you a blue menu.
i did try to boot both ways and both times i did not find it... for the millionth time i took the sd card out and put it back in and rebooted using cwm, and funny enough, it found the direcotry... and yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, cynagenmod7 is my new rom
thanks for all your help, support and commiseration... really, much appreciated. i do ve a few more issues that i have to research now... again, external sd not found though... will probably solicit more help
again, thanks

Don't unzip the file. When you flash anything via clockwork, it flashes using .zip files.

[Completed] [Q] Please help! LG D959 TWRP format error

I used freedom flex to install custom recovery and none of my ROMs were flashing so I tried a lot (including many wipes and restores) and when nothing worked I chose format in the wipe option of TWRP and it erased my whole internal sdcard. So now when I boot my device it doesn't go further than a security error upon boot and turns my device off, my twrp still works though and when I plug my phone in, its internal memory contains nothing but TWRP folder with some files inside. Also using TWRP I can see my system files are still in tact.
>>BOTTOM LINE<<
I believe if I get a copy of the whole stock internal sdcard contained in a zip folder I can extract it into my sd to replace the missing files, the security error will hopefully go away and I can be back up and running.
I'm also thinking If I can get my hands on a legit TWRP backup from an LG D959, I could maybe flash that in the custom recovery and get everything back on track.
Please if someone can get me the files I need I will forever be greatful!!!
-TWRP restore zip for LG-D959
or
-Full Copy of LG-D959 internal /sdcard in a zip folder

If you still got TWRP then you can sideload the stock firmware posted here this should solve your problem.
Or you can move that firmware to a usb and use an OTG to accomplish restoring back to stock.

Hello, and welcome to XDA! You could fastboot flash your phone's factory images, or adb sideload your zip files. For help, you could register and post your questions in the dedicated help thread for your device: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/help, but before that have a look at the guides in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46998153&postcount=4

HTC M8 No TWRP folder

I am trying to unroot my m8 and I have found a tutorial with correct way to do it. I have to copy a file into the root of my internal storage called TWRP but it is not there. I used it to root my phone and I can load it. The folder just doesn't exist. I try and make one but it will make one but not name it.
Help would be greatly appreciated.

The TWRP folder can only be accessed through a folder explorer app like RootExplorer or ES File Explorer as the folder is not on the devices "SD card" storage. To move a file there you will need to copy it to your phones SD Card space using your computer and then move it across to the TWRP folder using a file manager like the ones mentioned above.
Hope I could help and feel free to ask if you need any more advice on moving the files across
