Is there a way to root Moto G 5.1 Verizon Prepaid - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After hours and hours of trying, I would like some help from you guys.. I already know the moto g verizon prepaid requires Sunshine to unlock bootloader (is that free now? it let me download something, but it said i had to be rooted first with temp root). I couldn't find any software to temporary root my moto g. so i read a guide on how to downgrade 5.1 to 4.4.4, but then i realized i had to have an unlocked bootloader to downgrade.
So my question:
Is there a way to root the moto g 5.1 (verizon prepaid) with and without an unlocked bootloader?
I'm not sure what to do..If there is any way whatsoever to root the moto go 5.1 verizon prepaid, can you help me get going?
i appreciate it muches, thanks guys

[Q] CDMA bootloader unlock on Boost Phones?

Just trying to find out if there are others out there that bought the Boost Mobile Moto G if you are able to unlock your bootloader through the Motorola site? If you did this, did you also root it afterwards and what method you used to root. Thanks!
Cheers.

Rooting the Verizon Prepaid Moto G.

From my research it seems as if this phone can't be rooted because you cannot unlock the bootloader.
Has anyone tried "Poot to Root" on the Verizon Prepaid Moto G? I don't need an Unlocked Bootloader, just Root access.
I rooted my Kyocera Event (with a locked bootloader) in less than a minute using Poot. From what I have read, Poot to Root is made for Qualcomm phones, and the Moto G is Qualcomm.
So, has anyone tried this yet? Does it work?
Right now this is the only working method to unlock the bootloader.
It costs money, and there's no other known way to root the Verizon Moto G

[Q] Unlock, root, and install roms on Moto G (1st gen) xt1028?

Hi, I was just wondering if this was possible, aside from that temporary root method.
When I do that thing for retrieving an unlock code on the motorola site, it says I'm not eligible to unlock my phone, but there has to be another way, right?
I was just wondering, if there was anybody who had this phone, and who already had theirs unlocked, thanks
Not yet
Hi! I've just own this device used from verizon with kitkat 4.4.4. And all metods not working for me: I can't unlock bootloader using motorola site, even for now can't find how get temproot (towelrool and moto PIE - nothing happens), and they says that this methods fails on 4.4.4 firmware((. SunShine also not working - it reqires temp root & maybe also didn't work on 4.4.4). So will be waiting... If something happens (also if temproot is possible) - please let me know!!!
P.S. But maybe on locked bootloader & official firmware we get OTA of LoliPop 5.0 soon!!

[Q] Root Moto G 2013 and warranty

I have a brand new moto G (2013 lte) and I'd like to root it and install custom Roms. I read some articles in internet and I read that if you want to unlock the bootloader you need a code you get from Motorola's website. Requesting the code code will void your warranty because your phone will be saved by Motorola as unlocked. But I also read articles where they use Cf auto root (by chain fire) to automatically root the moto g and there is no sign to request the Motorola unlock code in any step. Must the phone be already unlocked before cf autoroot or there is a way to root without being saved in Motorola databases? There is a way to unroot? I purchased the moto g from amazon, and I think that if I brick my phone rooting and I don't tell amazon that I tried to root, they would replace my phone anyway. I'm scared of the Motorola databases instead. I'm asking so because I own a nexus 5 and I rooted it, then I had to send in back because of a screen problem, so I unroofed and everything went very well. Thank you and sorry for horrible English.

Moto G LTE cricket unlock bootloader

I notice that the Moto G LTE from Cricket wont permit the Bootloader to be unlocked.
I am wondering, if you have your Cricket Moto G LTE unlocked (by this i mean sim unlock, not bootloader) and you then flash another carrier stock image - i.e. XT1040, etc - would it be possible to then unlock the bootloader? (I am assuming that if you flash XT1040 on XT1045 it's the same hardware, the only issue would be the radios..but if it's sim unlocked, then it shouldn't matter)
Or, is Motorola going by the IMEI #, which would stay the same if you flash another factory image?

Also interested in unlocking the Cricket Moto G LTE XT1045 bootloader as well.
Please update if you're able to get this to work.
Pretty sure the generated code is determined from the hardware. So flashing another ROM wouldn't change it.
That being said, I'm pretty sure Cricket versions of the Moto G LTE are never getting Lollipop. I spoke with a Cricket rep yesterday and they said the company had no plans to upgrade. So unless someone here can figure out some magical way to unlock the bootloader, we're all screwed.

I also talked to a Cricket rep yesterday about a Lollipop update. He said it was going to be a manufacturer, not carrier update. I asked him again to confirm because of what Motorola's site said. He confirmed again that it is based on what the manufacturer (Motorola) wants to do.

You can't flash ANYTHING with a locked bootloader. Cricket can update it, should they choose to, but as far as Motorola is concerned, Cricket owns the phone - not you. You can't unlock the bootloader unless you bought a RETAIL version of the phone - like I did from Amazon. You paid a lot less by buying the phone from Cricket and, in return, you gave up all right/hope of having an unlocked bootloader.
And, yes, everything goes by the IMEI, which is unique to the phone and never changes. If it were to change, your phone would no longer work on your carrier. The phone using that IMEI is registered as belonging to Cricket - that's why you can't unlock it on it the Motorola site. For the phone I bought at Amazon, I just went to the Motorola site and had my phone bootloader unlocked in five minutes. If you want a bootloader unlockable phone, you don't want to buy it from a carrier.
Update
I just spoke with Cricket who forwarded me to Motorola who said that my Moto G (1st Gen, LTE), purchased through Cricket, would be updated to 5.X within a month.
I'll try to update this if it actually happens. I didn't ask about the bootloader.

Nice necro but I was aware of that when I posted my response as I helped the Dev unlock all models of the Cricket Moto G bootloader; provided they weren't running an OS higher than 4.4.3.
