Hello. This is my first post and I wanted to make it count.
First off, the LG Tribute 2 is not the greatest phone, so we might want to Root it
So, we will want to install King Root apk 4.6.2 ~ I will not provide links. Sorry
Next, simply use the one touch technique King Root provides.
Boom, you're rooted. Use root checker, again, no link, find it on Google play
Now, the reason I made this post is because of one problem so far.
What happens is, when you Root the LGT2, and happen to turn off your phone for a while, King Root will no longer recognize you are rooted. Depends on circumstances held before or after the root process. All you have to do when this happens, and you can not uninstall King Root and repair it, simply install a copy version of the king root you installed, maybe a new version, but none the less, re install King Root, it will reboot to the main page where you can TRY to Root your LGT2. IT WILL WORK. So please don't worry about running in to that little problem, it's a simple fix but might eat up data if you're not on Wi-Fi. Anyway, hope this helps for some.
Thanks for your time ~ PRINZ ~

LG US740
Hi all, new here but not new to forums in general. I hate to dig up an old topic for a useless device but it's all I have to play with at the moment and I want to experiment with it. Can't find a lot of information on this particular device. I have found plenty of info on rooting and android development in general however nothing seems to work on this phone. Is there anyone who has some clear information on how I can get this thing truly rooted. z4root does nothing except bog it down until I reboot it. The superoneclick seemed to "root" it and installed superuser but still can't do much. Droid explorer keeps crashing with a system out of memory error. I got it to work once where it seemed to be able to explore the files but I didn't get a chance to try anything. I tried android commander and it says my phone isn't rooted. I am super interested in this stuff, but am getting very frustrated with this device. Any intelligent and resourseful information to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
I'm in the same situation as you, friend. Only use mine for wifi and don't have any type of contract/ pay as you go anything, cuz a friend didn't need it anymore, so he gave it to me. First android phone I've been able to tinker with myself. What I did to root my US740 was download and install "gingerbreak." It did the trick for me.
I went to the 4shared website and typed in "gingerbreak.apk" (without quotes) and download it to your phone.
In all your research, did you ever happen to cross information about how to "unbrick" the US740? I seemed to have "bricked" it as in it loops b/t the LG logo, US Cellular and the ANDROID animation...sometimes it hangs at the ANDROID animation, sometimes it reboots itself. The only way I can power it up is when I have it plugged into a power source. Any ideas?
Hi there,
I got a "certified like new" D800 from an At&t Device Support Center recently and it came with the latest OTA D80020y.
I'm trying to figure out what the most conservative way to root 20y would be.
I've looked into:
- IOroot25: Seems like it only supports up to D800 10q.
- Towelroot v3 by geohot: This post makes me think towelroot won't work with 20y (confirms that ioroot won't work either).
- Stump Root?: As I understand it's for Sprint/Verizon G3, but this post confirms that it will likely work on D80020y with a brute force method (not sure what that entails).
So stump root sounds like the only option for rooting on 20y, but does anyone know if there is any issues or risks associated with this brute force method compared with other root methods?
Is the safest way to get root for someone on 20y to simply use the LG Flash Tool and go back to older KK or JB firmware? If that is the case, which firmware is ideal for rooting?
I don't want custom recovery at this point, but I will eventually when I grow weary of the LG overlay.
Hopefully this thread will help others who find themselves on D80020y and want root privileges (or even get recovery for that matter). I think if you're planning on getting recovery and flashing a new firmware, LG Flash Tool is the way to go though. I just don't want to abandon my setup simply for root.
Thanks!
~bokonon9
im on 20y and been using Stump root since day one. Absolutely no issues for me. You brute force it, it takes 2 or 3 minutes then it asks you to reboot. reboot, install superSU then you are golden.
From 20u, I OTA updated to 20y then used Stump to root (bruteforce of course). Everything works fine since.
It works just smooth.. no hiccups at all..
Its worked like charm.. I was really hesitated to root my device as it was my first time to root to get my lost files which I accidentally deleted. I saw this post and thought of giving a try. The steps I followed are
1. Installed stump root on my device (downloaded and transferred from my mac)
2. it will ask permission to Bruteforce and select yes.
3. it takes less than a minute to install
4. restarted twice
5. installed supersu and rootchecker
6. Done.. got ROOT access.
Can anyone please please suggest me how to get deleted files from my LG G2. I deleted 2 files to save memory and later realized that I need that files and it contained my important data.
Please please..

FYI, I got TWRP with this download: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407585979
non-AT&T users should select the correct file from http://kevinwithtech.blogspot.com/2014/09/how-to-make-lg-g2-look-like-lg-g3.html
So, I have a D80020y unrooted. First I must use Stumproot to get root, and then use Autorec to install TWRP, right?
Also, can anyone explain me if I can use LG Flash Tool on D80020y? Can I use it without root?
Finally!

You are the effing man!
I completely messed up my wife's new LG G2 by flashing the wrong recovery image through TWRP (like an idiot). My immediate inability to get into recovery mode led me down a rabbit hole filled with failed solutions... each one compounding the problem more and more until it all snowballed into a situation where the 'Settings' function in Android stopped working altogether, I had no recovery, and download mode froze every time I attempted to use it. Despite all this, somehow my computer still recognized the phone as a media device >> All I had left was the ability to drag and drop files into the internal storage.
... and then I came across this magnificent link to AutoRec that you posted and flashed the proper version of TWRP onto the phone effortlessly. I downloaded it, launched it through File Manager, dropped the CloudyG2 Rom onto the SD card, and installed that S.O.B. with ease. THE PHONE WORKS LIKE AN ABSOLUTE CHAMP NOW. Flawless.
I never... NEVER post on forums, but I made this account specifically to tell you "Thank you!". That tiny little link solved countless hours of mind bending stress (and quite possibly saved my marriage) in mere minutes. Cheers buddy! PM me if you get the chance. I want to give you a shout out on my podcast this week.

Sorry folks for bringing up an old post but i need some serious opinion on this one;
-Couple of months ago when there was a deal on eBay when AT&T LG G2 32GB went on sale like real cheap, I've purchased one for myself. Ever since than its been rock solid n performed well on daily tasks. pretty much handles everything i through at it.
-For the last few days i've been going through serious Battery Drain because of Android OS(Kernel), Pics i've attached, kindly check for brief idea about what i'm been through.
-No intention of Rooting it, though I'm aware of rooting devices in the past. But If anyone has encountered such issue and found a way out, i'll be happy. I just don't want to Root my device. That's what the main purpose of this post.
-I've done factory reset once 2 days ago but ratio to Screen On Time to Android OS is always like 1:2, you may check on attachment.
-There's no such app could cause Battery drain, Bcos i've been using the same apps for over a month n never encountered such in the past Or any of other devices.
-If Rooting is the last option then guide me the steps, If I'm doing anything wrong or not.
For the record I've d80020y build come PreInstalled, last OTA for 4.4.2 from AT&T
Steps:
-Fully Charged > Unplug it > Under Settings > Turned on USB Debugging while tapping 7 times on Build number.
-Mark on Unknown application Under Security.
-Insatll Stump Root v1.2 .apk
-Hit Grind > If Message pop ups > choose Brute Force > Ask for Reboot > After that Install SuperSU from PlayStore.
That's all about Rooting the device. But what about Bootloader? How to Unlock the bootloader?
As i go through several thread, it redirects me onto AutoRec to flash TWRP over Stock recovery. But my concern, Does Rooting will Unlocked the bootloader on itself? Or Have to follow fastboot commands to do it.
Do i have to partitioned my device, like External or Internal, as my all previous devices had MicroSD support whereas this one is 32GB Inbuilt.

So this is the story and I myself cannot believe how it all happened either. So, I have an Alcatel One Touch Fierce 2. Got it almost to the day it was released. Not a bad phone at all despite all I am about to say. So, it came with a locked bootloader so not an easy root to acquire. After researching, I found a link on XDA about how to root it. It's a very unorthodox exploit and I won't get into it but will leave the link if you want to read about it. So, I used the root method which BTW is with kingroot...but not only kingroot, Antutu is needed as well. Anyway, after a dozen or so attempts, I achieved root access. Needless to say, I was happy. So, I installed Titanium, Xposed Framework, lucky patcher and so on. Well, this is where it gets complicated. Somehow, not really sure, perhaps a conflict with an app I had caused my root go fail....BUT KingUser AND SuperSU were still installed . Root checker told me my device is not properly rooted. Then I tried everything...I mean everything. Factory Reset it well, by now...I'd say 100 times. No good. KingUser and SuperSU still there and no root access. It gets stranger. Some apps I have such as Aptoide will tell me my device IS rooted and some, well...most say it is not. I cannot regain root by any method now because of those installed apps that will not uninstall. And I cannot delete them because my phone SHOULD be rooted with them installed. So that's it for the most part. If ANYONE has a solution, you will win the prize. Trust me, I would be not only grateful but extremely amazed. I have spend I'm sure hundreds of hours doing everything I know and more to repair and....NOTHING. Please HELP!!

How do you root a z828 zte avid plus phone metro pcs?????
It's different than the Avid 4G. You can still get into the FTM, but I'm guessing either the script or the security is different. Mine is on Android 5.1.1 MetroPCS and I've been searching everywhere to no avail. Some help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. :cyclops:
Also desperately looking for a way to root the device. I bought it as a cheap replacement when my last phone was broken, and so far I've enjoyed the phone. This is one major pitfall, though. Ive tried plenty of rooting apps and methods, and I'm willing to test and play with more. Any help is greatly appreciated and I'm offering any assistance I can. Let's find a way to crack this thing.
hi you guys i bought the avid plus from somebody yesterday for $50 and it turned out that the phone is messed up bad it wont boot and when it does it just turns off and its hard to get to go back on, is there anyway you guys can send me a copy of a backup of your phone system files, ive been looking everywhere online for countless hours for any kind of stock file and theres none at all so please i beg you send me a link or email me a few of the main required files please my email is [email protected] thank you so much for helping

not yet......kingroot has a request form when you download it on your phone. As of now, there is about 5000 requests and was last seen at queue list 342 and it increase every day. my guesstimate is maybe by the end of July there will be a root program
End of July for sneaky Chinese info-thief rooting... Should be at about Android 9.2 by then. Never again owning a ZTE unless is a time machine and/ or comes with a Gremlin.

I don't know how successful you can be but if you go to kingoroot.com and try you may have a chance.
Here is what I did, first I downloaded the program for the pc, then attempted to root the device. When it failed, I saved the log and emailed them. After about a week I tried again. By this time I was fooling around with the cable, restarting phone, unplugging the cable and constantly restarted the kingoroot app, then finally after an hour of doing this the root worked!!!
Give it a shot, it may be worth it!!!
I have the same problem too, the reason why many rooting apps failed because the Z828 is not yet rootable. But don't worry, it will be in the future.. just don't know when.

I got boot up and running!
Step 1: DOWNLOAD

ADB Shell (guide and download) - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48915118
kingo root - https://www.kingoapp.com/android-root/download.htm
Step 2: Command Prompt with ADB
run the CMD with admistrator privileges and use the following commands -
adb devices
[hit enter]
adb reboot disemmcwp
[Your device will now reboot with some extra write permissions]
install and run KINGO ROOT! (Yes, it's kingO root, not King) on your pc.
SHAABAAMMMM!!!!
Now we need a custom recovery for it!
PS: o/! Dont try link2sd , because it #$&*#&(*@^*$ your apks, and you can't find it in the 2nd partition.
it says that the device is offline what do i do?
It does work as stated above. Nice job, I've been trying to do this for a while now. I didnt know there was a command to make the phone reboot with more permissions. Very nice!
Seems to not work for me. I get it to connect and everything, but KingoRoot fails to keep going or it finishes at 100% and tells me that it failed to install Root.
Nevermind, I had to reboot my PC.
I'm not sure this is a true root. And how do I remove kingosu and replace with SuperSU? Super sume did not work as kingosu refused to give it a permission.
Yeah its a false root. Had to wipe and factory reset.
okay. upon third try it rooted! and even root explore r/w worked!
however i deleted the metro apps and tried to install supersu because i hear nasty comms going on between kingouser and chinra.
well i'm bricked now. lol.
wont boot past powered by android splash. possibly because i deleted the MYMETRO folder in system/app.
zte and metro dont provide the update.zip so i cant recover.
any ideas? and dont tell me go to metro because they wont help.

BUMP: I really need a method for this...
I have the same phone. Kingroot did work for me. You have to run it several times but it does eventually work. Also had the random reboot issue on occasion but I did get the bloatware off. What I would like to know is once its temp rooted, is there a method to get permanent root? Any custom recoveries that work for this?
Well I totally boned my phone I think. Kingroot works but it caused a lot of instability. It reboots the phone within minutes of getting temp rooted. So I tried supersume to remove kingroot (which seems to also have a pretty bad reputation as far as privacy goes) to replace kingroot with supersu. Everything seemed to go fine, the binary updated and looked good. Once the phone reboots though, it freezes on the AT&T logo. When I try to factory reset the android pops on screen for about 5 seconds and nothing changes. I can't do anything with adb. Whenever I try to list devices the phone is detected but it says it isn't "Authorized". If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it.

Installing super su when rooted with king will brick Everytime you can temp root to uninstall the at&t bloat but that's about as far as I got phone keeps rebooting every few minutes when rooted I think I'll just get a new phone
I'm really not a fan of the fact that this device de-roots itself on every reboot, I know the developers have more popular models to address, so I'm not complaining. I was just wondering if anyone knows a way to keep that from happening and safely get rid of KingRoot and put SuperSU on instead...

Stay away from Kingroot and supersume, you are going to brick your phone!!! You'll have to send it in to LG, and your phone will never be the same again!!!
It only takes one attempt of kingroot, and no more security updates from at&t, Error: !!your device is suspected of rooting!!
(even if you uninstall kingroot & unroot)

Anyone have any advice on hacking into the system somehow to bypass the boot loader in order to fix the bridging problem at&t left us with? Or possibly something like flashily to flash directly to device or so we can disable bootloader security, or bypass at&t security or something like the old school ways hacking the system if possible. I don't understand HW,SW,KERNEL,LINUX,CODE,APPS so its hard for me to hack it myself. Although, I have successfully rooted, flashed supersu and twrp'd my htc one m9. I have been into buildprops and enabled hotspot tethering and disabled data throttle through proxy servers and HSM. I just don't know where or how to start the root procession this device Cuz I'm still a newb. Please no one click root suggestions, I prefer the knowledge not the instant gratification! I tried this method but it froze on the last step, I sat there for an hour while my phone was trying to run the script but nothing would happen.
Tried it as well

Yeah I tried that before I attempted to Kingroot and then Supersume. Did the same thing. If anyone knows of a way to de-brick the phone when supersume fails I'd appreciate any help. Not sure it's even possible.
LG k371 is one of the k8 series.
All K8 were compressed at lz4 not the gzip. SuperSU v2.66 (and other previous system-less version of supersu installer) can't decompress LZ4-compressed kernel. So that procedure won't finish the last step.
There might be two ways to solve this issue, either repacking into gzip, or waiting for supersu's support to lz4.
I guess the supersu's support to lz4 could be easier. But I don't think ppl are working on it.
At that thread, someone succeed rooting another K8 model (LG K8 k350n), with a different chipset, Mediatek MT6735 . I guess you could check it out.

Did you try booting the phone into fast boot settings?
