[APKTOOL] problems with apktool and Android 6.0.1 - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can't decompile the framework-res and SystemUI file of my ROM with Android 6.0.1. Do you have this problem?
I want apply this guide and this other.
Can someone help me?

Which version of apktool? Which rom are you using to decompile the apk files? Did you install the MM framework before decompiling?
I decompiled CM13 framework last weekend without any issues.

I tried to install it. I also mistakes by them. I think that the mistake was that he could not find certain xml args.

Use the framework-res.apk of CM13 then try to decompile the one from Chroma.

Ok,i will try. Those two guides I have attached at the top, it's apply them by creating layers/rro?

Actually those guides are for Sony devices so I don't think they will fully work.
Go to Android Themes forum and G+ to find tutorials for layers.

[Request] CM themes for stock ROM?

Hello
Is there any way to make CM ROM themes to work on stock ROM ??
Please help.
Thanks.
There are some Xposed modules which can use CM11 Themes and replace the resources using Xposed. Other than that, no.

I've been looking for the same thing. It'd be amazing if someone could create a ROM with just that.

No one wants the trouble to port a theme. They all want it out of the box. That's the problem here.

Nope, I tried it and looked inside the zip and I didn't find any apk file. I think this is because CM 12 it's a nightly update to flash over CM 11 stable. Correct me if I'm wrong please

CM12 nightlies are just like CM11 nightlies. they include the full system ROM. you can extract the system apps from the zip.

It's not so simple anymore now that they're using the new method where everything is stashed inside the system.new.dat file.
Here is a link to cm12 folder on my Google Drive . Not all apps are included but better that than nothing. You can download single apps or all apps together in cm12 apps zip.
They're from 12.01. 2015 nightly.

How would I go about removing this without reflashing rom. Everything works by the way. Thank you

Thank you so much for doing this! Last month on stock 8.0 Pixel 2, I tried this. What happened though is I noticed that when trying to find the smali folder, I couldn't when unpackaging the System UI apk. I'm guessing because the stock ROM is ODEX and not DEODEXed? Did you manually deodex this ROM to accomplish this mod? The 3 minit guides seem to assume the ROM is already deodexed. Just wondering if you are a ROM developer as I'm totally clueless with the vdex file you are talking about below.

No reason why this should. You are doing nothing to the bootloader. You are simply adding an overlay to SystemUI to draw a different resource in the layout and zeroing out the dimensions of stock battery.

Yes, 3Minit mod is a smali mod so it is assumed you are deodexed if you are installing it. Deodexing for 8.1 is actually now devdexing
I am not a rom developer, just a simple modder.

Got it. I've never deodexed before. Is the process still the same where you use the latest version of a tool like Universal Deodexer? Which tool specifically did you use?

I could not find a tool that is capable of deodexing 8.1 yet but found someone that had the necessary binaries in order to do so.
