Rooting New S6 - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all.
Just purchased an S6 128GB International Version SG-920I and was wondering if by rooting it would I lose any functionality except Samsung Pay (which is useless in Europe in at this time anyway).
Also can you guys help me with a rooting guide and what's the best recovery menu to go for on the S6?
The phone came with factory 5.1.1 so I guess PingPong root is out of the question is there an alternative to this?
Thanks.

Just rooted my G920i, used Odin and Root Kernels/ Unibase Kernel for Galaxy S6 on Android 5.1.1

I take it that triggers the knox fuse right?

Is there a way for 5.1.1 to root without blown Knox fuse?

Can I root my Samsung Galaxy S6 G920F with Android 5.1.1?

I can't find a rooting tool that supports my device and Android version, is there none or am I just a bad searcher?
Thanks!
There are a lot of posts on how to do this in 5.1.1. Try searching for unikernel or Adam kernel. Flash either and you get root... They do trip knox.
Here's a method that doesn't but I haven't tried it

[Q] Will Kingo Android Root SM-G920F w/o knox trip

Hi
I want to root a Samsung Galaxy S6 SM-G920F on 5.1.1 without tripping KNOX. I plugged it in to the PC and it gave me the option to root. As there is no root method for 5.1.1 ATM, will Kingo Android Root trip KNOX? Anyone tried it?

KNOX will trip if you install a no signed kernel.

How Do I Root my Galaxy S6 (LMY47X.G920FXXU3COJ1)

I have tried KingoRoot with no success and I do not want to trip my KNOX warranty with CFRoot.
You can't root 5.1.1 FW Without tripping Knox atm yet.

Would you recommend any tools for an easy root/unroot? PingPongRoot doesn't support my model yet.
Is there any one click root method? I tried Root Genius and it also failed.

As mentioned before, there is no root method for 5.1.1 that doesn't trip KNOX.
All Samsung devices that received the 5.1.1 update (Note 4, Note Edge, S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge Plus and Note 5), have got security patches that prevent root.
The only way to root 5.1.1 devices is by using a Custom Kernel which trips KNOX.

Can I go back to version 5.0.1 Safely?

Hi All,
I have galaxy S6 SM-G920F running Marshmallow. Can I go back to previous version 5.0.2 safely? I want to root the phone without tripping knox counter.

You'll have to root the phone to go back a version, which of course trips KNOX
(or perhaps you won't have to root per se, but any methods will still trip KNOX. Even 'factory reset' doesn't put you back to the version you had out-the-box from my experience)

That will trip KNOX
Yes. I went from rooted 5.1.1 ti 6.0.1 and back to 5.1.1 now back again on 6.0.1 on my personal s6. My wife's phone was flashed around a few times too from 6.0 back down to 5.1.1 and back to 6.0.1.. Both us cellular Smg920r4
There's no way to downgrade to 5.0.2, you can downgrade it only one of latest 5.1.1 ROM.

Galaxy s6 SM-G920V

Is there a currently working root for G920VVRU4CPF4 or a way to downgrade to a lower baseband version? I am not worried about tripping knox.

No, I believe no root exploits since firmware OF1 (5.0.2). Not positive but to trip Knox you would need to flash a custom recovery which isn't available to Verizon S6 since you need to unlock bootloader.
