Hello from a relative newbie to this forum, with an O2 XDA Orbit 2. I’ve a few things I wanted to tweak on my handset, and have found some answers on here, but not others. Here goes with my ‘shopping list’: -
1. Despite what try to do to keep the input method as ‘keyboard’, it has always reset to ‘touch keyboard’ when I have switched the phone off and then powered up again.
2. Can someone give me a simple to understand list of instructions to cure the annoying fact that when you come to unlock the device, the screen brightness is so low that you can’t see the buttons you need to tap to unlock! (on a previous device I had, when you tapped the first of the two buttons you needed to tap in sequence to unlock the device, the screen brightness increased)
3. I have managed to change some of the programs I have on the TouchCube, but can’t find where the pictures/icons are that I want to use to represent the new programs I’ve put on it (in particular, I’m referring to Memory Map, the GPS application using OS maps).
4. How do I point the email button on the TouchCube to link directly to the inbox for my O2 email web mail account, which I can already get to through Start> Messaging> O2 UK?
5. How do I find where the photos I take on my camera are going? (I haven’t changed any of the ‘save location’ settings, but the photos I can’t seem to find any of the photos I’ve taken, nor do they appear on the ‘camera album’).
6. Is there any way of using the device to listen to BBC radio stations streamed over the internet?
Sorry if I’m asking questions that have already been answered in other threads, and thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Can use SPB Mobile Online for this, has TV, Radio and more. Google it, I don't know the link by memory. Downside is that it costs $30. But it is easy and avalible to get for free.. (torrents).

1. SipChange 1.0 (you will have to use search to find it...free download somewhere on XDA forums, sorry I don't know the link)
2. agreed, upgrading to 6.1 fixes problem but, if you haven't upgraded yet then read through everything I will type below before you do anything:
This is the fix I found for non-Polaris...
\HKCU\ControlPanel\BackLight\LockLevel\
Change LockLevel to what ever value you want the backlight set to when your device is locked.
It didn't stick on my Polaris, found a thread talking about installing BrightLock.cab (created as a Kaiser tweak) to fix this issue. Turns out that may cause a different backlight issue (screen timeout sets itself to 7-10 seconds).
Fix was to rename locklevel folder to xLockLevel and reset. After soft-reset the LockLevel folder is back, along with the original that I renamed to xLockLevel. But now the screen returns to full brightness for about 7 seconds when locked AND it stays On for the duration of the settings>system>power>advanced tab>"on battery power: turn off device if not used for" backlight timer is set for when un-locked.
3. Can't help, haven't messed with it myself.
4. \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Biotouch\CustAPLauncher\App0\parameter
was -service "ActiveSync"
change to
-service "DesiredAccountName" (DesiredAccountName= whatever the name of YOUR account is for instance "Yorkshire Yellow" - include the quote marks around your "account name")
5. my documents/my pictures is where the photo samples that came with my phone are located
also try looking (just to make sure) they aren't on your storage card, try...
storage card/dcim
or
storage card/my documents/my pictures
6. I'm in the US...I use the http://www.thestreamcenter.com/pda/
and
http://www.radioshows.mobi/ to find radio station streams.
The Stream Center has a UK link http://www.radiofeeds.co.uk/pda/ that I've never used but just tried by typing BBC into the search box and got a bunch of results.
Radio Shows.mobi has a BBC link on their home page.
Good luck!
Hello All,
First of all - sorry for my english
Secound - I'm new in Android, my previous device was HTC Touch HD (aka Blackstone) - so I'm a little used to WinMo 6.5
I bought my Sensation last wednesday. It is a stock S-ON RL device (info about ROM is in my signature).
I have non-root'ed device.
Until yesterday (saturday) everything was O.K.
I set up a lockscreen with weather and one custom button (pointed to task manager - built one, not downloaded from Android Market).
Today morning i noticed issue with lockscreen.
There is no buttons above lock ring (any of them), and there is no weather shown.
I did soft-reset my device several times and that doesn't help.
When i go to "home screen" => "personalization" => "lockscreens" => and select (screen 1a, 2a) any of them, then return to "Home Screen" and press POWER button (to activate lockscreen) and again POWER button to see actual lockscreen (screen 3a) - I still don't see any of the four buttons (and weather)...
What's wrong? Anyone have ideas?
I don't see any setting, which could disable the four buttons....
If I wrote something ununderstandable, please let me know
Have I done something wrong? Why yesterday everything was OK? Could something be wrong during night? :/
Sorry for poor quality of screens, my work-phone is prehistorical
Any help would be appreciated
Thanx in advance

I also had this problem several days ago.I tried many methods to slove this problem.Include wipe application data... But all my efforts are in vain.At last,I have to use "Factory data reset" to slove the problem.
At last I found this problem caused by Titanium.Backup When I use Titanium.Backup to restore my system data. The problem appear.
I hope these information can help you.
Had the same issue, solved.
Run the Setup App again
Keep clicking next
Turn screen off you should have the apps and widget back
If this works, pass it around on other forums

Some people have been reporting washed out displays on new nexus phones (Nexus 6p and 5x) and this has happened to me. However, I found the solution. Follow the following steps.
1. Go to settings.
2. Tap about phone.
3. Tap build number 7 times (or until it says developer options are enabled).
4. Go to developer options.
5. Scroll down until you see "Show Surface Updates" and enable it.
6. You should see purple flashing every time something on the screen moves. Scroll up and down a couple of times and then disable "Show Surface Updates".
7. Your screen should be back to normal.

Greetings.
Thank you for using XDA Assist.
I think you should read the sticky threads for the Assist forum, as this really doesn't belong here. Perhaps share this info in the relevant device specific forums.

Friends, Android user of 10 years. Never seen this issue, EVER. Came over from an Axon 7 yesterday. Here's the situation.
Mate 9 US Version B138
Not Rooted or altered AT ALL
Unknown sources is checked in Security
Developer Options enabled
No screen dimmer apps
Blue Eye filter disabled and enabled when this happened
Basically, when trying to install some apps via a File Manager, not the Play Store, some apps are installing like any other would, while others are not letting me click the "Next" button during the installation process. No errors, no other indicators of why? "Cancel" button works fine. While some other APKs even the "Next" button works and everything installs fine.
Like I said... I have never ever seen this weird issue before. The closest was when I had a non root blue light filter app on and the "Install" button wouldn't work, no errors, no other indicators.
Can someone please help? Have you seen this issue before?
Thanks!
Anyone? Thanks guys!

Thanks brother, but that wasn't it...
[SOLVED]
For anyone else who may face this issue, here's the solution:
It's similar to the screen dimmer/blue light filter issue. Basically, I was using a custom theme that was skinning the Package Installer. Somehow, the system must have seen this as "drawing" over the application and therefore disabled any app installations. That still does not explain why some APKs were installing, but this is good enough. The fix is to revert to stock theme and install your APK then.
Thanks to anyone that tried to help!
I had the same problem with a theme yesterday - went back to stock because of it. Kind of annoying

I hear ya bud! Even scarier, this issue is not documented anywhere, hope this post helps others! Have you seen this issue with EVERY theme?
Thanks for your input!
I have been having trouble finding themes I like - I like dark themes but then they look terrible in the email app (everything dark except the email body is colored or white which looks bad). Finally found the BWM black & white theme I liked and that had the installer problem. For now, back to stock.
Is it possible that those failed apps needed much more free space on your mobile?
This issue actually occurs if you have any screen filter apps installed in your device. Some apps that are known to cause the apk file installation problem include Twilight, Screen Adjuster, Easy Eye, Darker and Blue Light Filter.
In addition, any persistant overlay may prevent usage of the "install" or "next" button when installing an app from the SD card. Chat heads, floating battery stats, etc are all possible culprits.
This is a safety built into android to prevent an app from popping up an overlay over the required permissions list and showing a "safe" list of required permissions on top of the real list of persmissions that allow it to read your texts, pick your wallet, and root around in your underwear drawer.

Hey James, thanks for your thoughtful responses. No I definitely have a lot of space, and to your point, this problem is famously known with other phones and with the "Install" button. But two things make it unique:
1. Huawei calls their install button "Next" so this is hard to find a Google solution to.
2. I don't have any of those apps you mentioned, otherwise I would have solved that issue right away. The culprit here was a theme an .hwt file... So that's why I was struggling to find an answer...
Thanks again!

Another clue for your reference.
As I know, Huawei mate 8 has a feature which is some like those "Bluelight Filter for Eye Care" apps.
Settings - Display - SCREEN - Eye confort.
So, is there this stock blue light filter feature on your phone? If yes, is it possible that the issue resulted from this feature enabling?

Yes it exists in the Mate 9 James, and of course I disabled or turned it off... The problem was still there... It's the themes, some of them fool the system into thinking a screen drawing is enabled to it doesn't allow for installation. Strangely, my current custom theme is allowing for installation... :-\
I'm having similar issues. The apps I can't get to install are; Anything from Amazon App store underground app. mSecure app, and various others.
2nd: Phone will NOT pair with external Camera that I have...HTC Re-Cam, or LG 360 Camera.

I think I solved the issue today.
Using stock theme app, apply the stock EMUI theme. Reboot phone, than try to install applications.
My thoughts:... any non-stock theme being used/applied creates an overlay. So when the "next" button isn't responding (when the next button is at the top of install screen), it's cause the real button is located on the bottom right.

OK guys I hope this hasn't already been covered but here goes anyway. I have found this fix for notifications not arriving when doze is enabled. Iff you go into the particular app e.g what's app then into data usage you must select the following settings see pic below. then all the notifications will arrive straight away regardless of doze state.

Yes that seems to be the problem. I had made a post months ago. It's very hidden feature by Lenovo and I think it's wrong to pre-restrict all background data. User should decide what to do.
I think they lenovo did it to block unnecessary data usage but i agree it is not needed and people are thinking their is something wrong with their phones.
Thanks for the tip
Thanks Sam, I saw this on the JJ review of Nougat. Is this for Nougat as my MM P2 settings don't look like the screenshot.
Sent from my Lenovo P2a42 using Tapatalk
Hi yes it is for Nougat the comment posted on JJs review regarding this fix was posted by me also.
Confusing settings these as the first one makes it look like enabling the "Restrict background data" option will disable background data, when in fact it does the opposite. You need to have both of these options enabled so the sliders are green, then you need to open Settings > Power Manager > Battery Optimization
Then you need to search for the apps that you need to fix notifications and change the option so it says "Don't optimize". Then the phone won't 'helpfully' close the app when the phone has been unused for a long time. This is why notifications are stopping.
precisely i agree quite confusing it took me a while i had to get a friend to send me whats app messages continuously untill i figured all this out but im glad i finally did.
If you make the changes to fix the notifications, shut down and power the phone back on rather than do a reboot. The settings don't seem to work until the phone has properly rebooted.
Is it worth noting that elsewhere it's stated that turning off doze altogether (using ADB) might be a saner option? Consensus seems to indicate it's basically a curse with little value, and that would certainly hold water in light of the battery capacity of the P2.

Guys, to avoid having to run the ADB command after each reboot follow these instructions (please note, the files should be downloaded to a PC and then transferred to your phone via USB otherwise they mess up sometimes):
You need to enable USB debugging mode in Developer options first
Download and install this apk and transfer it to your phones storage - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxD...w?usp=drivesdk
Then connect phone to PC and allow the drivers to install
Download and install ADB here - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0M...ljU2NPR0k/view
Go into the ADB folder, hold shift, right click and select "Open command prompt here"
Type the command: adb devices (now hit enter)
It should return your phones serial number is connected correctly
Run this command in ADB: adb -d shell pm grant com.adamioan.scriptrunner android.permission.DUMP (now hit enter)
Download this file and transfer it to your phones storage - https://drive.google.com/open?id=0Bx...VA4YmxGTS1OX3c
Open the SH Script runner app and tap the three dots in the top right corner, select "Load" and locate the file from teh previous step
Click the Circle button with the play sign at the top of the screen
You should see the message "Idle mode disabled" which means that Doze has now been disabled.
Whenever you reboot your phone, open the SH Script runner and the command will still be there, just click the play button to run the script again.
And that is it, two clicks to disable Doze after each reboot.
Full credit to manototh for putting this together originally.
Doze does not need disabling iff you follow my advice in the initial post i have tried and tested this and can confirm it works fully.
This is really frustrating. No matter what settings I use I still don't get notifications after a while. I don't want to go modifying my phone, can someone post a step by step if they have it working properly?

Follow my ordinal post and also go into battery optimisation and disable optimization for things like sms eggs what's app Facebook etc all the things you need notifications for should be disabled from sleep mode under battery optimization.

Yep doesn't work either.
Perhaps your only option left is to try the disable doze app which has worked for many people but it's a paid app.
Just to update it does seem to be working properly now. I'm not 100% sure but I think turning the phone all the way off and on again instead of rebooting with the settings correct had the desired effect.
