There is a new update to my phone, but when I install that update it says
Assert failed: apply patch check
("/custpack/build.prop", and some long he a decimal number
Update.zip isn't correct
Installation aborted
... My device is Alcatel one touch pop c 5 5036d
It was rooted but I did unroot
Please help

Hello,
Welcome to XDA.
When applying a stock update on a rooted device, you not only unroot the device and remove superuser/SuperSU, you have to revert back to an unmodified system partition, this includes removing Xposed and its modules,,any themeing apps that modify system, font apps that modify system, must also be restored to having stock recovery instead of custom.
Basically the device has to be put back to completely stock ROM and recovery with no root or any modifications of any kind.
Then you do the update.

I gave you the link for you to post there, not for you to come back here and ask. The XDA Assist is not for coming here to ask for step by step instructions, it is only to help you find the forum that you will have the best chance of finding your answers, that is where I sent you, go there and ask your questions and patiently wait for someone that knows to answer. Good luck.

[Completed] [Q] Moto X 4.4.2 rooted w/ locked bootloader, factory reset safe?

Hi, I have a republic wireless moto x I just successfully rooted and updated to 4.4.2 from 4.2.2 with a locked bootloader with no write protection (wp)
Since I updated it to 4.4.2 I have this error that pops up that I can not resolve
"Unfortunately, the process com.motorola.process.system has stopped"
I googled several pages of several website results and several pages of google but can not find the solution.
Solutions found was to:
Safe Mode (I tried this first with no apps installed on non safemode and non system apps updated, didn't work and popped up even on safe mode)
Change date & time method (didn't work)
Wipe Cache (didn't work)
Wipe Cache & dalvik cache (didn't work)
I am debating about factory reset but unsure if it will make me lose my root because I have a locked bootloader (if that matters in anyway I am still new to this, and that my moto x is from republic wireless not like other carriers with unlocked bootloaders).
Please help me and discuss with me how I can get rid of that error. Or point me to the right path.
Do you have a Custom Recovery Installed ? If not, then that would be your first Step. There's a Moto X Link in my signature that will help you install one. Once that is done, you can do factory reset from inside the Recovery. But before you boot, make sure to flash SuperUser Zip File from the Recovery.

Hello. Not sure how to answer this because I am still new to it.
I have the SafeStrap App, it says "State: Installed" above Install Recovery / Uninstall Recovery & "Safe System: Not Active" over Reboot to Recovery" version 3.65.
I do have a SafeStrap (TWRP) and have a backup but not sure if it is on 4.2.2 or 4.4.2.
If I did a recovery, which parts will it back up or all of it? Because I don't want that error to show up. It is driving me nuts.
Can you further assist me with what I replied before I do that recovery?
I see that you have already Opened another Thread on the Moto X forum.

The mission of XDA Assist is to provide basic help to those who have tried searching but can't find what they are looking for and need assistance. This is not a "helpdesk" providing technical assistance but more to point you in the correct direction with your problem. Perhaps you can't find posts on how to root your phone, install custom recovery or maybe you have questions about how to navigate and use features on the site.
Our XDA Assist team will give you links to threads/forums that are relevant to your problem. You may be pointed towards guides and instructions that can be quite complex, so you will still need to read carefully and be cautious before attempting to make software changes to your device. Where is my SuperSU zip on TWRP?

Hi, I'm quite new to rooting and stuff like that but I watched a very helpful video on how to root a HTC One Mini (M4) as I have one myself. Everything was clear and I followed the steps precisely but when I had to save my SuperSu to my phone (via the pc) I couldn't find it back after I entered my recovery (TWRP). On all the videos about rooting they could go to recovery, click on install, scroll down and then they could click on the zip but I just can't find it.
Is there anyone who kwnows where the zip could be or is there anyone who knows what the problem is?
Thank you!
Sir,
Please wait until mods will move this thread to the device specific forum.

[Completed] [Q] How to remove twrp and fully unroot LG G3 d-855?

I have rooted my LG G3 and tried flashing twrp (no idea if it worked, when booting to recovery the notification led just flashes red and blue...). I decided that I want my phone to be completely stock again (If thats possible..) and couldn't find info on this for G3 devices. I'm quite sure that my twrp flash attempt failed but I would like to remove any files that the installer might have placed on my phone when attempting to install it. I also need help in unrooting my device, I have heard that you can do so from SuperSU, but does that FULLY unroot my device? I am running Lollipop 5.0
Hello and thank you for using XDA Assist.
This thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089 should provide the information required to completely flash your device back to stock.
This is the only way to actually reset the device and completely remove any files you may have uploaded to the device while rooting and attempting to flash custom recovery.
This method will also wipe all internal storage. So please back up anything like picture, videos and files you would like to save.
Also make sure you select the appropriate firmware for your device.
If things are unclear I suggest you ask the individuals in that thread as those are the users who are experts in your device.
Good Luck!

[Completed] After rooting optimizing apps every boot

Problem: After every restart\boot phone optimizing all of the apps installed [Optimizing app 17 of 114].
Story: To get root on my phone (Huawei 4C Pro\Enjoy 5\Y6 Pro) was needed to unlock bootloader, then install TWRP 3.0.2, then replace "sepolicy" file in boot.img (that was taken from another phone - Huawei GR3\Enjoy 5S), [install boot.img from TWRP] then apply SuperSU v2.76.zip from TWRP on Stock ROM: TIT-AL00C326B103. Root got, but the problem achieved.
Without installing SuperSU there are no optimizations.
I need to know how to fix every boot optimizing apps on stock.
I know that there are other ROMs that could help, but stock for me is better, and I just wonder how to fix it.

[Nexus 6P] Stuck in boot animation after Flash The Factory Images (Return To Stock)

Hello to all the community, I am a little new in these topics but nothing more than guided me by instructions and a little intuition. I have followed this guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/guides-how-to-guides-beginners-t3206928
In step 10, I've done everything I asked to format my nexus 6p. What I wanted to do, is that my Nexus 6p install root and TWRP as recovery. The problem is that, when trying to update my system to a new android version (from system configuration and update), the update was downloaded and the phone restarted, but when it restarted it sent me to the TWRP recovery and it did not let me install it, so I decided to find how to delete the TWRP recovery and format the phone to remove the root and I ran into that guide that I put above.
So, I followed all the steps in step 10 except the part where it says "block bootloader", so I have the bootloader still unlocked (thank goodness), install the angler 7.1.2 and restart the device but now I'm stuck in the boot animation (where there are circling circles and random things).
I ask for your help, which is the most expert topic I know about this. This was the topic I found to ask for help, if it is not the right topic I ask you please move it.
Thank you!

Thanks for your answer. I already solved it, at the end of the guide I did not follow a step and that's why I could not start android. So before finishing everything, install TWRP recovery and opened it to clear cache / dalvink and it worked normally. The strange thing was that I installed version 7.1.2 in image but I get 8.0.0 in android. Well at least it works. Thank you as well!
