Has anyone noticed that OEM Unlock...... - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note5

Had anyone noticed that OEM Unlock is now available for Verizon Note 5 customers???

Sorry buddy. Not that simple. That option has been there from day one. It just allows a Verizon specialist to now enter a code to unlock your phone (which they would never do anyway). Just pushing it will not unlock the bootloader. Our devs would have been smart enough to figure that one out.

That is interesting because when I select it, it doesn't ask for a code. And I can confirm previously that this option was greyed out and not accessible. Now it is. I'm fighting phone issues (On my second Note 5 which is being warranted and a third one being shipped to me. 3rd phone now in three months. So its quite frustrating without titanium backup). First one was S Pen broke inside phone and the second one, my phone has seizures (constant charge/discharge cycle, red X on battery icon, Gear VR keeps popping up, when the original charge cord is plugged into it or placed onto a wireless charging pad. After a few reboots and cache clearing it will behave for a while until its charged again. This last time, it factory reset itself.

I had all those problems myself (except the spen) along with some Bluetooth issues I'm still having. 3rd phone here as well. And then when I say this phone is a dud people get mad at me and start crying. Oh well.
It doesn't ask you for a code it just unlocks the capability of said code to do anything upon being entered. Of course you are more than welcome to try it out and see if you can achieve root. Just don't say I didn't warn ya. [emoji6]

So, the seizure one you've had?!? Verizon said that was unheard of
Sent from my SM-N920V using XDA Free mobile app

Nope. I had it and the lady said she has seen it before so exchanged it no questions asked. My new one has a Bluetooth problem. Music keeps cutting in and out if phone is in pocket or any pressure is placed against the area of the phone where the camera is located. I'm guessing that's where the radio is. They sent me a new one again but that had the same problem plus location issues so I said **** it and sent it back. They all have some issue or another.

The seizure is due to a defect in the charging port. On few devices it randomly detects a cable inserted which is not really there and screws everything up.

Thank you! I kept on wondering WTF was wrong with this thing. The USB port is now dead. Won't recognize anything.

Will the laptop dock for the original Atrix work with the Atrix 2?

I Googled the hell out of it and cannot find anything concrete to suggest whether or not it would work with the Atrix 2...anyone know for sure?

As it is, the original laptop dock is physically incompatible with the Atrix 2. The micro usb and hdmi plugs are inverted (individually turned 180 degrees).
If you look at posts 33 & 34 here, they've managed to adapt theirs to work with the Atrix 2.
i jsut got the original atrix lapdock today delivered, it was $50 brand new, it took me about 10 minutes to open the dock part and swap the direction, little annoyed that it wont do mirror mode, just stuck in webtop mode
I'm glad I read this before I bought one! The wonderful folks over at radio shack told me that it would/was compatible... I'm technologically savvy but I don't have the tools to do modifications as mentioned above...

I can confirm inverting the plugs on the 4G lapdock works great with the Atrix 2 using [ROM] Supercharged Atrix V 4. Took about 20 mins to invert the plugs. Now I can sell my 4G!!

Small Jewelers Phillips and a Small Standard screw driver. I used the Phillips for all six screws and the small standard to pry open the case. Easy Breezy....

If anyone is still interested in the Atrix 4g lapdock, it's at radio shack for $20 +tax. I just got one (you may want to call around first to confirm they have one since it's only instore and not online). I converted it over to work with ours (really simple). Any questions, just ask or see the posts listed in this thread or in the Atrix 4g accessories forum. I only had to do 4 Philips screws (2 on the hinged dock part and then 2 holding the plugs in).

Might add if you do the mod and get the "unsupported device" error just reboot phone phone while it is still docked.
From another post I replied to concerning same issue. I did the described mod and got the same error message everyone seems to get (unsupported device). After dinking around with it a few minutes I noticed that if I pressed the power button on the phone (while docked), as you would to lock it during normal use, the lap dock monitor would reactivate. So I rebooted the phone while it was still docked and once it powered back up it connects to lap dock perfectly. I have been using it problem free for several hours now. Hope this helps others!

That's pretty cool. I just tried it as well and the error went away (all this time I knew it was there, but I just ignored it). Does it actually make a difference other than not seeing the error (i.e. does the performance or anything else improve)?
I have so far enjoyed my lapdock (it's even more enjoyable when you get it for $19.99 ). And even though it seems a bit slow at times, I have to remind myself that I'm running a laptop WITH MY PHONE.

Not sure. I was getting another problem altogether right after the unsupported device message appeared. The Lapdock would go into screen saver mode just as the phone itself would seem to disconnect and light up (screen on phone unlocked). As soon as I pushed the power button on the phone, as you would to lock it during normal use, then the Lapdock monitor would be functional, but only for a few seconds. Once I rebooted while docked it fixed itself. Performance wise it seems fine, as fast as my daughters netbook as limited a that may be, but I can surf the web, take calls, send messages with no noticeable lag other than my own slow de-creped typing. I probably would've been fine too with an annoying error message if that's all that had been hindering me.

People that have cracking/popping/static issues. I have a question.

What hardware version do you have? If you remove the battery there is the white sticker with all the numbers on it. There is also a set of numbers that tells which hardware version it is. its usually a set of two numbers separated by a period (.) ex. 11.04 or 11.11 or 12.01, you get the point.
I read a post about hardware versions 11.05 and below having this issue. I've had 3 DCs, (11.04, 11.05, and 11.11) and my current one, the 11.11, has no issues whatsoever. No dropped signal, no cracking/popping/static, no issues that require me to cycle airplane mode on/off, etc. So let's hear it.

I did the same thing. They sent me a nexus as well, but i have signal and connectivity issues with it. Sitting in one spot, it will go from 4 with 4G to 0 bars with an X. Where with my DC, i kept 4 bars and 4G in that same spot. I have both, a DC and a GN. It seems like the connectivity issues with the GN is a big/common problem unless you get the 1% that isn't defective. I've never had as issue with signal/connectivity with any of my DCs, just the static/popping, with the exception of my current DC.
I'm calling in the morning to complain about my popping and squealing... I hope I get a nexus....!!!!

I have a DC that is 11.05. I don't get the squeal, but I do get the static and popping. Do they replace it right at the verizon store, or do they send out the replacement?
I have one that's 11.05. I didn't notice the squeal pre-FP1 because I use mainly bluetooth for calls. Since loading FP1 (and Eclipse 2.0), I've noted the wonderful squealing noises in calls, including once or twice through bluetooth, though that seems exceedingly rare.

I emailed support earlier after posting in this thread (and realizing I'd started having the issue on bluetooth as well as handset/speakerphone). I'm hoping for the same result. It's been a great phone for me, without a doubt, but if I can get away from the squeal and get a Nexus at the same time, I'll jump on it in a heartbeat.
I have version 11.04 and I have NEVER had any cracking, popping, or hissing. My charge only drops data when it's obviously in a low signal environment, and has been much improved since the introduced GB.

I lost my popping and cracking somewhere along the lines. Do they make you do anything with your old phones? Like returning them? Because I wonder if you would want to go back to stock before hand. I thought rooting voided the warranties.

I am on 11.05 with no screeching /squealing issues.
Sent from my handheld computer using electromagnetic radiation.
I have 11.05 and I get popping and screeching when I receive calls. Every call I receive about 30-40 seconds into the conversation then it occurs about every 20-30 seconds after the initial one. It has been getting worse the past few months. Needless to say I am very unhappy.
My CLNR is version 11.04. We will see if there's a problem with this one.
I got 11.12 been having data drops like a mug the past 2 weeks, times where 4g just wont connect and 3g will drop and never return. Tried flashing different modems and roms but still no luck. Waiting to hear back from my service ticket.
Oh, the good news just keeps coming. Now none of my three computers will recognize my phone to Odin back to stock. They'll recognize the new phone just fine, though.
[edit: Well, SamsungPST's port scanning saved me. For some reason, regardless of what drivers I installed, my computers wouldn't recognize that a device was even being plugged in. Once I loaded up SamsungPST and hit "Read General Information", it started searching the USB ports. When it hit the one my phone was in, the computer started installing drivers. After that, Odin connected fine. Strange.]

My One S's data turns off by itself.

Not sure why but at night it seems my one s data shuts completely off and when I turn the screen on it it shows a triangle and no 4g icon. When I check what the triangle is it is a warning telling me data is disabled.
After a couple seconds it comes on and emails are synced and notifications come in. Not sure what is causing this but it is annoying. It happens while plugged in or not. I have not found any settings that are power related and I run no software to control data in this way. Does anyone else have this issue?

Mine did that when it was stock, every night just after 12:00pm data would switch off, I also looked around settings but found nothing, i'm sure its some sort of power saving feature..
Rooting and custom rom seems to be the only way to stop this.
It is called "smart sync" and it is a piece of crap from HTC. It turns off data between 0:00 and 7:00. Try smart sync disabler from Google Play as a workaround. Unless you're using something different than stock rom, you have to live with it (using smart sync disabler).
I'm stock, unrooted and have never ever lost data.

I tried this but he does not answer since a few days.
Yes it seems like midnight and randomly during the night. Really is stupid as almost everyone keeps these power hungry phones plugged in at night.
So far this is the only phone I have not rooted yet. I wanted to wait for devs to get rolling.
I will give this app a try and report back.
Thank you! This was really frustrating me. Emails and Google chat would not work and missed things due to no data till the morning. Maybe HTC should change it to cut to edge if its that important that way stuff keeps in sync.

HTC Desire Mobile Data Issues
My HTC Desire is around 4 years old and has begun doing some crazy things.
It is stock, unrooted but has an update.
Android 2.3.3
Kernal: 2.6.35.10-g3f43272
Build Number: 3.14.405.1
Issues:
1. So when I'm typing with the keyboard, the keyboard would randomly close, and I'd have to open it up again to continue typing. I do not get an error message or anything, it just disappears in mid type.
2. When I remove the battery for just a second or 2, the clock and date settings go to 2am and 1 January 1980. Surely there is an onboard battery that keeps the date/time settings current? But the other crazy thing is tht iven if the phone is connected to mobile data or the wifi to sync the date and time, it doesn't, I have to reset it manually.
3. The mobile data will randomly turn off. I use my phone as a mobile hot spot and it is very annoying when the mobile data randomly turns off.
Does anyone have any solutions for these?

[Q] Unpleasantness... Bricked phone?

So, while I'm no expert I'm not new to rooting and flashing. Did it quite a bit on my older Droid Inc 1, and have performed a few on my new SG3.
I have 3 backed up ROMs on my SD, Synergy, Beans and CM10. I was running Synergy and decided to give CM10 another shot to see if I could figure out what was killing NFC. So, flashed it up with ROM Manager (Used Odin previously) and everything went swimmingly. ROM was running, NFC was working, all my apps were reinstalled, no problems.....
Decided to see if I could get Wallet working on this install, so flashed it in, made the changes to build.prop and rebooted.
Heeerreeee's where the trouble started. Part way through the reboot the phone just shut down. Completely. 100%. Dead.
I had 87% battery when I started so it 'shouldn't be a battery problem. No power, no LED when I plug in the charger, no vol-up, home, power to get into recovery.
One interesting thing did happen while I was trying to get the phone up, I removed the battery for a bit, and plugged the USB cable in and got a red charging light. Put the battery back in, light still there. 1 minute later, light goes off and still nothing happening with the phone at all.
Anyone have any ideas beyond all the stuff I've given a shot to?

Have you tried borrowing someone's battery to see if you can also least boot? I have four samsung batteries for the S3 and would consider sending it to you before getting a replacement. I think the cost of a battery is $3 on Amazon.

The reasons were different but i had the same thing happen to me, my phone wouldn't boot, wouldn't show up in the computer. Nothing, i tried my wife's battery, no change there either. I left it on the charger overnight and tried turning it on in the morning and after messing with it it came back on. Haven't had an issue since. Don't know what caused it, the phone just freaked out, turned off and wouldn't turn back on.
You can also try the resistor trick to see if that will bring your phone back. Here is a cheap way to do it.
http://hackaday.com/2012/09/03/saving-a-bricked-phone-with-a-pencil-lead/ Otherwise you can go to radio shack and pick up a resistor.
If Verizon sends you your phone back cause you messed with it, there is a brick repair service for like $60 bucks PM for the link if it comes to that.

hehe.. I can't say I was pleased with having to go that route, (can't stand being defeated by electronics) but all in all I can't imagine a simple software change causing the entire unit to just go dead. Not booting properly, or locking up and such, sure... but not just dead.
By this morning I had tried another battery (a friend has an SG3 also) to no effect, but I didn't try leaving it plugged in overnight. I did check the battery with an external charger I have and it was showing fully charged....
So, I'll get a replacement and stay away from CM10 at the very least.

Same thing happened to me when I tried to mess with the NFC hack on my SGS III.
What saved me was a USB Jig I happened to have handy when I...accidentally... soft bricked a friend's Samsung Captivate a few months back. The USB Jig is used to put the SGS III into download mode when all else fails that tiny little gadget saves the day.

I have looked into those and will most likely make one very soon. (I think I have everything I'd need, just may need to cobble some resistors together).
Couple of things I noticed throughout this 'process', regarding the CM10 (9-15 nightly) ROM, NFC and google wallet....
At first install of CM10 I noticed that NFC was active and working normally. It could read my tags without issue. After Wallet was installed though, NFC disappeared. It wasn't just disabled, it simply wasn't there any more. It was after noticing this that I decided to reboot, at which point my original problem started.
The reboot never came close to completing though, it shut down before it actually made it to the 'boot' phase, as in, while it was shutting down.
The actual cause of the power off is still a mystery to me, as I can't see a simple app change causing hardware failure.
So you bricked your phone, just like a few of us did yesterday.
What did you call Verizon saying in order for them to send you a new phone?

[q] no service issue

Anyone ever get no service or dead signal of their Sensation. I tried searching and googling solutions but nothing yet. The phone was fine as of today... sent an sms, lay the phone down, after while I pick it up to see if I had any reply and BOOM! there's no signal. Whenever that had happened (the signal dropping) I've just turned on airplaine mode, and turn it back off. This time nothing happened. Tried pulling off the battery and reseting...nothing. I have an old back cover so I put it on thinking maybe it was the antenna connectors in the cover... nothing. Tried my SIM in a different phone, works just fine, so no, it's not the SIM or the carrier. Tried another SIM in my phone and still NO SERVICE... so it is looking to be something wrong on the phone. I also did a restore from a back up I had from about a month ago,.. problem still persists. I'm on a CM 10.1 ROM.... could it be a hardware issue all of the sudden? suggestions???
THX
Have you had this phone for a long time or recently bought it? If it's recently bought from another person it could be blacklisted? If not then could it be your housing antenna is not touching the contacts?
Check your imei in your About Phone in the case that it isn't wiped or a weird number. If it shows up unknown, it could be a wiped imei.
Maybe your sim reader is dead?

thanks...
Had it for a couple of months but bought it brand new... so no, not blacklisted. I did try a different housing as well and same problem so that's not it either. The SIM card reader option sounds more like it. Any ideas how bad of a repair that might be?
Before going in that direction, have you tried a stock RUU? Have you checked your imei or whatever it is shown I'm the baseband and system information?

Someone may need to correct me but I don't think its a hard fix if its the sim card tray. It seems its a flex cable you need to connect rather than a soldered connection. Its 20 bucks.

Well the phone did come on stock GB 2.3 (sense).... From there it offered an update to ICS... I took it.... Didn't like it much so went to Android Revolution HD... Way too laggy so I moved to CM 10.1 and that one did the trick for me. But through all those changes never had signal problems until last night... And the CM 10.1 had been running for a couple of months now.
Thx

Wow that's strange. It doesn't hurt to RuU though. Might be annoying but I'd take the easiest route just to make sure. Then go to the bug fix. Have you taken a look at the sim card trays on eBay or anything or a fix on YouTube?

OK update. Seems the problem might've corrected itself.... Don't ask me how cuz I don't have a clue. But since nothing seemed to work I decided to pull the battery and just leave it out overnight. Next morning put it back in, powered on and boom: signal. Not sure why it required such a long battery pull but as long as it worked I'm not inclined to find out.
Thx for your help.
