Is there really an advantage to rooting the s6 now. Seems like rom development has died.
Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
How did you do that?

Insurance replacement. The first one I got was 5.1 but had a few issues. They sent me a brand new one the 2nd time. Lucky me
But that being said development has died pretty much.

Forget root. Just move on, with marshmallow it's going to be even harder to root with added security. I've been dreaming of days of work on this device but honestly the latest updates have fixed a lot of things and battery is not an issue anymore.
Plus if you use samsung pay you want to secure phone all the time. So I wouldn't keep my hopes up unless I am a developer myself.

As the title says, I just picked up a s6 after owning an s4. I am familiar with rooting but so far I have read nothing but negative reviews of the s6 due to that there's no root for 5.1.1. So my question is. should I jump ship? I was also looking into the iphine 6.Or is it possible a root exploit would be found soon.
Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
If you want root jump ship. I doubt there's going to be root

Thanks, That's what I thought even the iPhone 6 has no jailbreak yet.

I've been pretty disappointed and somewhat bored not having root but with disabling apps, theme support, battery life and overall great performance it's worth keeping and preying for root. Definitely miss my s4 though.

Yeah man non rooted phones are boring. my first rooted android was the Droid x and I have never gone back to stock. I'm waiting for ios 9.2 jailbreak to be released then I'll jump ship.

Root without recovery sucks anyway your not missing much
Any word on a release date from Sprint?

I don't think Sprint knows what they are doing when it comes to updates

Hopefully soon. I want to experience Marshmallow on the S6E before selling it for the S7E.

Not Sprint's fault this time. Europe only received the update from Samsung this week. Clearly the fault lies with Samsung dragging its feet and trying to force us to upgrade to the S7 (which for me is not going to happen as this will be my last Samsung)

Just curious what phone you thinking about getting

I honestly haven't decided. I may wait for the next Nexus. Was seriously considering the G5 but don't think I can deal with not having an app drawer. All apps on home screens is one of the reasons I've never been fond of ios/iPhone

I too want the G5. I like the whole module concept, especially the camera one that extends battery. I'm on the fence though because I'm intrigued by the S7 Edge but at the same time wondering about the next Note lineup up and hoping there's a new version of my Note Edge as this thing is still my favorite phone to date. It really sucks Samsung dragging their feet on marshmallow and is the big reason why I feel like switching to another manufacturer.

At this rate, I'm gonna have marshmallow first through my S7E. I wanted to try it out before switching phones.
Sent from my SM-G925P using Tapatalk
Never had an LG but aren't they slow to update? I don't think I've ever preferred an LG over an HTC or Samsung device either. That camera addon better shoot mind-blowing pics and vid if you have to carry it around or have it connected resembling an 80s brick phone lol.

No not really. G4 has been on marshmallow for well over a month now while Samsung is just now starting to push it overseas. I mean there was a time they were awful but so was Samsung at a time and still is.

Sm-g928p marshmallow update live!
Sprint has released android 6.0.1 update for sm-g928p
---------- Post added at 04:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:59 PM ----------
Hello, sorry is this post does not belong here, im new at forums. I own a Samsung Galaxy s6 edge plus, sim unlocked and rooted, I see sprint has released android 6.0.1 update, if I flash it via Odin, will i loose the unlocked status? I don't mind loosing root... But i want to keep the unlocked status. Thank you
I'm returning my g5 until there is root available. I plan to purchase one again if root becomes available in the near future. I have the battery and camera promotion items being sent to me. Do those need to be returned as well?
Sent from my LG-H830 using Tapatalk
Nope I had 2 return 2 LG devices cause of screen bleed and I asked them the same question and they said no just return the phone.
Disclaimer: doing this more than once with no issue to the phone can set up a red flag for scam.
Sent from my LG-H901 using Tapatalk
Sweet thanks. Yeah I have no interest in doing this more than once, just like to know I have the freebies when I buy again. If hate to spend $650 on a phone again and not have the 360 camera and battery.
Sent from my LG-H830 using Tapatalk
I'm thinking... If you've received the freebies you're more then likely out of your return/refund period considering how long it takes to process the orders.

T-Mobile sent me the shipping label last night, phone is going out tomorrow.

So you are returning a phone, that you appear to like, until it has root then you are buying it again? Not really sure what that accomplishes but to each his own.
You're paying a $50 restocking fee because of no root? Must be nice. While you're in the giving mood, ill take $50

LOL go figure.
By then LG will most likely patch the ability to root. Better to keep the damn phone that you have rather then get set up for failure.
It's gone guys, let this thread die. My question has been answered.

Can you at least share the answer?

Is there any awesome developers out there working on a safe root method, a AOSP ROM and a custom recovery for our NOTE 7...???
A better question at this point might be what developers are going to get the Note7?
Lots of good developers around here, I hope a few of them get the Sprint version.
I wouldn't hold your breath, development for the newer US samsungs has been really slow. I'm sure it will happen, but I think a lot of devs stay away from these phones now. The sprint note 5 only had a few people developing for it.

Better hope it's not bootloader locked like the s7 edge was

One of the main reasons I sold my Note 5 after only about 2-3 months of having it
There not required to do it

I could care less about leasing a phone
Leasing a phone is a horrible Option. You don't own it and when it's time to opt to purchase it is worth less than what they want. You are basically fighting for yearly upgrade and still rent a phone. Good luck
Sent from my SM-N930P using Tapatalk
Phuck leasing a phone.
Well is either get the latest phone or shell out a lot of money to buy one at full cost or be stuck with a 2 year finance

If you absolutely need the latest and greatest then buy it outright. I also will never choose the lease option on a phone or an apartment for that matter. You're pretty much renting a device, sounds like pouring money down the drain to me. Do you really need a new device every year? I just now got the Note 7 from the Note 4 and it felt like I just bought the 4 yesterday and hesitated if I really needed a new phone.
