You need to get a pac code from the network your phone is locked to to unlock it for use on on any network unless it's sold as a sim free device, Think you can buy them off ebay aswell.

Do you guys think the Z3 No-carrier version will be sold in the US?

Folks,
Right now we can get the Z2 No-carrier version here in the US (it was in the Sony store, but not anymore; still, you can get it from online US retailers). I know we are getting the T-Mobile branded Z3, so my question is: Do you guys think that the Z3 No-carrier version will be sold here in the US as the Z2 was/is?
Cheers,
:good:
G.
I believe so, as it's the first hit on Sony Mobile's US website:
http://www.sonymobile.com/us/
It makes sense for Sony to offer it unlocked in order to compete successfully with the other major players.
Incidentally, unlocked Z2 is available but backordered with a listed ship date of 10/8

Hmmm interesting. How much do you think it'll cost? 750?
Probably, that seems to be the ceiling with Sony direct.

[Q] TMobile Z3 vs Sony Z3

Hey guys,
I am looking into getting the Sony Xperia Z3. I just have one quick question.
A while back I purchased the Xperia Z (C6602) from sony directly and I used it on tmobiles network. After purchasing the phone I found out that tmobile sold the (C6603). These phones are similar, however they do have different specs.
My main question is, is there any difference between the Xperia Z3 that tmobile is selling compared to the Xperia Z3 that is sold directly by sony? (other than the available colors)
Thank you for your help!!!

Two things primarily: The T-Mobile model has 32 GB of RAM vs. 16 GB and its bootloader is locked.

Also the T-Mobile one has LTE Band 12 which no other model has.
You mean 32gb storage, it has 3gb of ram
Tmobile version has band 12 and wifi calling.
And the T-Mobile is only in black and carrier branding...no thanks!
Sent from my Xiaomi Mi4
Reason I would reccomend, TMO version is the 14 day replacement/exchange period. I went through 3 and on 4th and possibly final one. If you buy from Sony directly you will be stuck without a device for weeks if you send it in due to defects only to probably get a refurbished one.
The TMO emblem is pretty conspicuous unlike Verizon so that should not be an issue.

I think you mean to say "inconspicuous" . Anyways I agree, looking at it, it's also a much lighter shade of gray/white than the Xperia or Sony logo, so it actually blends in quite well. There's also no T-Mobile branding on the front, which is really nice.
Hardware differences:
32GB Storage
T-Mobile Branding on back
Band 12
Software:
Bloat: http://imgur.com/oXLCzjj
Bloat not removed: wifi hotspot needs hotspot on plan, Device Unlock
Bloat that needs PM BLOCK: CarrierIQ
No bootloader unlock
I believe only the T-Mobile version has wifi calling.
You can opt out of Carrier IQ, the bloat is not so bad actually fewer than most carriers and they can all be disabled. For the extra 16GB its worth it. Only thing for you to care about is the boot-loader unlock. WiFi calling is also a plus.

[Q] Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact Wifi US Release

Hi all. Ive been trying to dig for info on this but have come up empty. Dose anyone know or have heard any info on when the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact wifi version will be released in the US? Amazon only has the international edition listed.
Thanks

[Q] Load US T-Mobile Firmware on D6603

Hey everyone,
I own an Sony Xperia Z3 model D6603 and I live in the USA. I haven't had any issues with it except for no Wi-Fi calling/texting.
I downloaded firmware for the sony xperia z3 D6616 US Tmobile version and was wondering if I could load that on my D6603? I heard of others loading custom roms from other models of the Z3 without incident so I would think it was possible. I think this hypotheticaly should get Wi-Fi calling to work as it should be a software restriction not a hardware one??
Any insight would be very helpful. Hell even if you think I could give it a try and if it doesn't work I can always revert to the old rom, a boost of confidence would be great before I start tinkering with things.
Thanks everyone!

XZ or XZ dual?

Hello,
Im thinking to get a black Sony XZ either this or next month, the dual version is available with lower price from ebay, while amazon sells with ~US 700 (black color is 630, but no version specified)
but its odd that the dual version 1st came available on ebay (with reasonable price) prior to the single SIM, so in case i miss any details from the spec, are they 2 different phones or they sharing the same firmware except the SIM trays?
is it true that on most cases, the regular version would receive more dev supports than the dual? thank you.
The dual sim version is 64GB while the single sim is 32GB. The USA single sim does not have finger print. All other versions have finger print. I currently have the dual sim version from ebay. It was shipped from Singapore.
I also went for the dual sim version. Firstly because I wanted a dual sim phone and secondly because of the 64gb. I think/hope the dev support will work out fine. At the moment that seems to be developing quite well
wouldn't the dual cause more bugs when developing roms?
another question, if a ROM developer owns a regular version , can he easily dev. another for dual?
I got the dual version for the 64gb storage.
2nd sim is a bonus.
Still waiting for someone to do a dual sim plus microsd hack

Not really, if a developer produces a rom on a regular version, it can be easily patched to a dual sim version.
Simply, You'll just have to flash an extra patch after flashing a custom rom for the XZ Dual.
Also, when developers like @AndroPlus have the dual version, I don't think you need to worry about anything

thanks, it's just that sony devices start from Z5 (which i previously owned) dont seem to have much supports , by this time there are still very limited non-sony based custom ROM being made, if we talking about bug free that's gonna even nail down to only 2~3 roms from the same developer, which is the reason why i sold it last month. But anyway, i still like XZ's design and gonna wait few weeks more to see which version has cheaper price.
A quick question as a future XZ dual owner : how is the battery life? Does it make through a day of mid to heavy usage? Dual sim has any effect on that? Thanks in advance.
